Congrats, US! Our “Preferred” Fatah Terrorists Merge w/ HAMAS

This follows this post  about Miss USA 2010 and this article about the recent news about the former ban on offshore drilling which would encourage American energy independence and prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran   and Venezuela. Congrats, US! Our “Preferred” Fatah Terrorists Merge w/ HAMAS

By Debbie Schlussel

I’ve warned time and again that HAMAS and Fatah–the U.S.-backed group of Islamic terrorist scum–would merge. And, now, it’s a done deal.

Fatah and HAMAS . . .

“Our” Islamic Palestinian Terrorists Unite With Theirs

For years, under Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, America spent billions training and arming the P.L.O.’s Fatah police and government, as some sort of “preferred,” “moderate” terrorist group versus HAMAS. But, today, as I’ve always argued would happen, HAMAS and Fatah announced their merger. It was inevitable, as HAMAS is more popular, including all over the so-called West Bank, where Fatah rules through U.S.-preferred terrorist-in-chief and Holocaust denier Mahmoud Abbas a/k/a Abu Mazen. Now, the merer has begun. Congrats on your Palestinian state, America. It will be–as it was always going to be, eventually–little more than a U.S.-sanctioned expansion of the HAMAS empire, just as we allowed to happen in Egypt and are trying to cause in Libya and elsewhere. From the PLO news agency, Wafa:

CAIRO, April 27, 2011 (WAFA) – An Egyptian official confirmed on Wednesday that Fatah and Hamas have reached an agreement on all issues of difference between them, including elections and the formation of the new government.

Azzam Al-Ahmad, member of Fatah central committee who has been leading the Fatah delegation to the Cairo talks with Hamas, confirmed reaching an agreement. He said the agreement will be announced in a joint press conference at eight in the evening Cairo time, nine Jerusalem time.

Alhamdillullah [praise allah], the merger of the brothers is complete. And America gave gazillions in infrastructure and even a half-billion in Palestinian mortgage bailouts (under George W. Bush) to them. Awesome.

Now, Israel will have a HAMAS state on both its eastern and western borders. Terrif.

Oh, and by the way, it has the blessing and approval of Hanan Ashrawi. Remember her? She was the pan-terrorist Christian Palestinian concu-beast of anti-Israel late ABC anchor Peter Jennings, who was Yasser Arafat’s spokeshag, until she was ostracized by him and the Fatah gang for being a Christian.

Re-united and it feels so good . . . (but not for the West)

The return of Drill Here, Drill Now‏

An interesting post from www.americansolutions.com about domestic oil drilling. This follows this post about the EPA banning drilling in Alaska. The return of Drill Here, Drill Now‏

The other week, my husband accidentally dented the bumper of my car right where I have my "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" bumper sticker.

And I'll tell you, it made me think - it's time for a new one.

Gas prices are soaring; it's $3.39/gallon where I live in Georgia. The Middle East is in disarray. A federal judge in Louisiana declared the Obama administration in contempt of court and ordered them to move faster to issue drilling permits.

Now is the time to re-launch the "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" campaign.

When American Solutions started this effort in the summer of '08, I signed on - along with over 1.6 million other Americans - and after all our hard work the decades-old ban on offshore drilling was finally lifted.

But unfortunately, we're now back where we were. So today - for jobs, for energy independence, and for national security - we are restarting the "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" campaign.

Below is a new video by American Solutions, meant to reintroduce the "Drill Here, Drill Now" campaign to every American frustrated with high gas prices and our ongoing dependence on foreign countries.

I hope you'll take a minute to watch their short new video, and sign the petition.
Once you watch the video, you can also get a brand new "Drill Here, Drill Now" bumper sticker.

I'm ready to get the ball rolling here in Georgia, and I hope you'll get involved in your state as well.

Hopefully, because of our efforts now, our children and grandchildren will never need a "Drill Here, Drill Now" sticker on their car, because they'll inherit an America with more American energy, more American jobs, and more opportunity for a better future.

Thanks for getting involved.

The Throne of Britain: Its Biblical Origin and Future

The Throne of Britain: Its Biblical Origin and Future

"This sceptered isle"

The Economist did concede that "if the British people want a monarchy, they should have a monarchy" (p. 15). And despite its problems, most in the United Kingdom do still want their monarchy. Many reflect with pride and nostalgia on "this throne of kings, this sceptered isle, this earth of majesty" (Shakespeare, Richard II, Act 2, Scene 1)—recalling names like Queen Victoria, King James, Henry VIII, Robert the Bruce, Richard the Lionhearted, William the Conqueror and King Arthur. For some, this reflection on the monarchy stretches even farther back into the mists of time, all the way to its traditional founder Brutus, reputedly of the royal house of Troy—the famed city of Homer’s classical epic, The Iliad.

Around A.D. 1139, English chronicler Geoffrey of Monmouth fancifully recounted the story of Brutus (Celtic Brwt) from earlier sources in his History of the Kings of Britain. Though discounted as myth by most historians today, notice the incredible future that was foretold for the descendants of this ancient Trojan in a dream: "Brutus, beyond the setting of the sun, past the realms of Gaul [now France], there lies an island in the sea, once occupied by giants. Now it is empty and ready for your folk. Down the years this will prove an abode suited to you and to your people; and for your descendants it will be a second Troy. A race of kings will be born there from your stock and the round circle of the whole earth will be subject to them" (translated by Lewis Thorpe, 1966).

Remarkably, Geoffrey set down these words before Britain was even remotely a world power. Perhaps it was just a case of wishful thinking on his part—yet the words do seem rather prophetic. For in the 1800s, Queen Victoria, called the Empress of India, came to reign over the largest empire in the history of the world, encompassing "a quarter of the land mass of the earth, and a third of its population" (James Morris, Heaven’s Command: An Imperial Progress, 1973, p. 539).

Today, though, it seems that despite multiple nations still looking to Queen Elizabeth as their head of state, the British throne’s glory days are over, particularly with more and more calls heard for its abolishment. But what really lies ahead for the monarchy? For the answer we must look back nearly 4,000 years—to a past even more amazing than the account of Brutus, and filled with far more certain prophecies. For as astounding as it may seem, the past and future of the British monarchy are found within the pages of the Holy Bible.

Early Trends That Affected the Future of the Church

An interesting article from www.ucg.org about Early Christianity. This follows this post about the dollar's demise.  For a free magazine subscription or to get this book for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886-8632.

In Revelation 2 and 3 Jesus Christ sends a different message to each of seven churches in the Roman province of Asia (Asia Minor), part of modern Turkey.

The number seven shows completeness, just as seven days make a complete week. The seven messages of Revelation 2 and 3 paint us a comprehensive picture of trends that had already begun and would continue through the history of the Church—trends that would dramatically shape its future. The seven messages give us several good indications why the deep divisions among Christians developed and why this divisiveness continued to plague subsequent generations.

The seven congregations are represented as seven candlesticks in Revelation 1. Together they represent the Church and its mission to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14).

Jesus stands in the midst of the seven congregations as the source of their light. He is always present and accessible. He will make good His promise always to be with His Church until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). But, as is obvious from the messages to the seven congregations, not everyone who comes into the Church will remain faithful to Him.

The seven messages accurately reflect conditions in the Church as it existed in the first century. But they are also prophetic; they reveal some of the reasons for divisions in later centuries.

Each of the seven congregations receives a warning: "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches" (Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22). Each congregation's message is a warning to the other six congregations: The same or similar conditions could develop among them.

In these messages Christ cites examples of obedience and disobedience among His followers, showing whom He will bless and whom He will reject. He lavishes compliments where approval is due. He criticizes the unrepentant for faults that threaten their relationship with Him.

The Church, when the messages were written, was suffering trials, persecution and imprisonment. Antipas, a local resident and martyr, had already been killed. Christ encourages the congregations not to lose heart, not to quit, not to compromise their beliefs, and—if necessary—to be willing to die for His sake. He reminds them to look ahead to the era of the Kingdom of God, when they will help Him rule the world in righteousness.

Jesus compliments the devoted members for their service, labor, patience, perseverance, endurance and faith. However, His criticisms and some of His other compliments are revealing. They show that the threat from within the Church was—and always will be—cause for concern.

Many members of these congregations had remained faithful in spite of many hardships and trials. But others had lost their first love. Some are lukewarm and spiritually blind—badly needing salve for their eyes so they can see their deteriorating spiritual condition. Christ warns them: "I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works" (Revelation 2:23).

Besides the growing problem of spiritually weak members, false prophets were infiltrating the congregations. Doctrinal errors were developing. The doctrine of Balaam, the teachings of the Nicolaitans and the beguiling influence of Jezebel are mentioned. Jesus tells the Christians in Thyatira: "Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols" (verse 20). This concerns the introduction of licentiousness—license to sin based on a wrong view of law and grace.

Dissent was developing from within. That was the real threat to the Church. Attending with members of these congregations were two types of people. The faithful members are those "who cannot bear those who are evil" and "have not known the depths of Satan" (verses 2, 24). But the implication is clear that others could and did "bear those who were evil," and some were beginning to plumb "the depths of Satan."

We find a portrait of the Church near the end of the apostolic era. Satan had successfully infiltrated congregations raised up by the apostles. He lures people away from the faith of Christ, using false prophets to introduce his attitudes and teachings.

But, in spite of the devil's efforts, many of the brethren remained strong and faithful, holding fast to the apostles' teachings. Christ complimented them: "You have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars" (verse 2).

Others, who had lost interest, were beguiled by the heresies of Satan—a being "who deceives the whole world" (Revelation 12:9). One entire congregation was already spiritually dead, having only a few members who were not already too defiled to count as converted Christians. Satan had succeeded in taking over a large portion of Christianity.

So here we find, from Christ's own messages to His Church, that two distinct classifications of Christians emerged from the apostolic era. One group was faithful; the other consisted of people who, for many reasons, were moving further and further away from the true faith of God.

Many who were unfaithful ultimately departed from God's truth. "They went out from us," says John, "but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us" (1 John 2:19).

Two distinct religions developed from the apostolic era—one faithful to Christ, the other deceived by Satan

The Obama White House: Consort of Islam

by David Yeagley · April 18, 2011

[BadEagle.com is proud to present a guest editorial by Tea Party activist Emily Bryant. We consider it an appropriate message on this first night of Passover, 2011, a warning against going back to Egypt and "slavery."]

Why are Obama and our National “Security” Advisor courting the favor of terrorists?

Denis McDonough, Deputy NSA, spoke at the ADAMS Center, an influential D.C. mosque, six weeks ago.

As per usual, mainstream media chose to keep Americans in the dark.

Imam Mohamed Magid, Executive Director of the ADAMS Center, also happens to be President of the Islamic Society of North America.

Of course, that’s not really a coincidence—since the ADAMS Center itself is an “affiliate organization” of ISNA. What is more problematic is ISNA’s role as an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood.

ISNA was convicted by a federal jury in Texas in 2008 as part of the Holy Land Foundation Trial. The documents entered into evidence against the Muslim Brotherhood—a.k.a. nearly every Islamic organization in the United States—are extensive and damning.

The State Department, prior to the Obama administration, declared ISNA a terrorist organization. The FBI and the White House were well aware by 2004 that ISNA and a host of other Islamic groups were all part of the Muslim Brotherhood.

So it is alarming to see our Deputy NSA endorsing a terrorist organization. And even more unnerving to read his speech.

In his opening remarks, McDonough thanked Imam Magid “ . . .for being one of our nation’s leading voices for the values that make America so strong, especially religious freedom and tolerance. Whether it’s here at the ADAMS Center, or as President of the Islamic Society of North America, you’ve spoken with passion and eloquence, not only about your own Islamic faith, but for the need to build bridges of understanding and trust between faiths.”

Yes, Denis, I’m sure he has. “Bridge-building” is quite popular with Muslims. And we have Sayyid Qutb to thank for that.

“The chasm between Islam and Jahiliyyah [ignorance] is great, and a bridge is not to be built across it so that the people on the two sides may mix with each other, but only so that the people of Jahiliyyah may come over to Islam.” (Qutb, Milestones, Chapter 10)

Qutb was the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt during the 1950’s and 60’s. He was imprisoned for plotting to assassinate President Nasser, and later executed for his part in the coup. His death gave—and still gives him–martyr status in the eyes of Sunni Muslims.

Milestones is a step-by-step guide about how to convert the West to Islam and establish the worldwide caliphate—the Islamic version of Rules for Radicals. And the popular “bridge” quote is well-known to Muslims around the world.

Unfortunately, churches, synagogues, and even government organizations are parroting the words of Qutb the Terrorist, without even realizing it. They believe, erroneously, that “bridges” are a two-way street in the Islamic worldview. They aren’t.

But back to Denis’ effulgent praise of Islam:

“ . . . based on extensive investigations, research and profiles of the violent extremists we’ve captured or arrested, and who falsely claim to be fighting in the name of Islam, we know that they all share one thing—they all believe that the United States is somehow at war with Islam, and that this justifies violence against Americans.”

No, Denis, wrong again. Islam is at war with the entire non-Muslim world. Maybe you should think about what the terrorists are saying.

Or, better yet, read the Qur’an:

“And fight them [Unbelievers] on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere . . .” (8.39)

After all, the Unbelievers are “friends of Satan” (4.76), and because they reject Islam, they are therefore labeled “oppressors”.

“. . . The Unbelievers are open enemies to you.” 4.101

“ . . . Allah will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it). It is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, that he may proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it).” 61.8-9

Over all religion, over all odds.

For the uninitiated, the Qur’an teaches that it is based on progressive revelation (17.106; 16.101; 2.106; 76.23); consequently, the final chapters, chronologically speaking, replace the earlier visions. (Surah 9 is the last of the chapters, but check out the rest of the violent revelations from Medina.)

McDonough’s entire speech is a veritable smorgasbord of lies, an exercise in deceit. Another short passage:

“So we are actively and aggressively undermining that ideology. We’re exposing the lie that America and Islam are somehow in conflict. That is why President Obama has stated time and again that the United States is not and never will be at war with Islam.”

But Islam will always be at war with “unbelievers”. Yes, McDonough, there is a conflict—and it didn’t come from America. It started in the seventh century AD and has been pushing westward ever since.

In just two sentences, McDonough explained the entire Middle East foreign policy of this administration: yeah, we know these Islamic organizations have all been convicted of terrorism—we know they are guilty—we know they are all part of the Muslim Brotherhood–and we will continue to give aid and comfort to the enemy.

“Fight those who do not believe in Allah nor the Last Day, . . . nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, (even if they are) People of the Book, until they . . . feel themselves subdued.” Qur’an 9.29

McDonough did not once mention the Qur’an in the entire course of his speech. Perhaps he hasn’t read it. He really, really, should. After all, he is Deputy National Security Advisor.

Just last week, McDonough and Obama met with the leader of the Organization of the Islamic Conference—another MB tentacle and terrorist organization convicted in the HLFT.

Denis and Barack do realize they’re sleeping with the enemy. And they’re enjoying every minute of it.

SCHMUCK: Outrage as Obama ICE Chief Attacks ICE Agents @ Muslim Illegal Alien Agency

By Debbie Schlussel

Even before I began hearing from outraged, demoralized ICE agents, their families, and their union, I was already outraged by the latest behavior of Barack Hussein Obama’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) chief John the Moron Morton. Last week, he attacked his own agents for doing their jobs, and he made his attacks during a personal appearance at a Muslim-dominated tax-funded agency that brings Muslim illegal aliens into the country, helps them stay here and evade authorities, and helps them rip off Medicaid and other government entitlements. Oh, and the agency also gave job training to the Detroit terror cell. Congrats, Dhimmi Morton. Remember, this jerk is the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security. (As you may recall, in July, ICE agents had a “vote of no confidence” in Morton, which passed unanimously, 259-0.)

John Morton, ICE Chief & Complete Schmuck

Yes, this (quasi-)man who is supposed to be helping protect our borders and get rid of malefactors within instead panders to the enemy and denigrates his own agents to the press. Although Morton’s meeting with open borders activists and illegal alien activists at the Muslim-controlled ACCESS–the Arab American Community Center for Economic and Social Services–was closed to the press, he made sure his appearance and meeting there with open borders whiners was publicized in both of Detroit’s major newspapers and he made it known that he apologized for his agents’ “improper actions.”

So what were those, um, “improper actions”? Tailing illegal aliens who were ordered deported by federal judges. Yeah, we can’t have Enforcement and Removal Operations actually enforcing court orders and removing aliens, can we? ICE agents, including those from Enforcement and Removal Operations, were following an illegal alien who had been evading them and who’d been ordered deported. They apparently followed this individual near a school. Suddenly, the outraged Detroit media coverage accused ICE agents of surveilling and raiding schools, seeking illegal aliens as they drop off their children, and harassing children. Although that isn’t what happened, why exactly is that a problem? If a bank robber, a kidnapper, or a child molester was dropping his kid off at school, does that mean police should stay away and let him disappear? Only a moron would demand that. These people doth protest too much because they know that the schools in question are Anchor Baby Central, and most of the parents are here illegally.

The men on these Fugitive Operations teams not only risk their lives every day, but they are the best in the biz, frequently sought by the Federal Marshals to assist in finding and capturing domestic criminals. Instead of refusing to appear at an agency that aids and abets the illegal alien invasion of our country, instead of standing up for his Enforcement and Removal Operations agents who put their lives on the line every day trying to apprehend and deport illegal aliens under very dangerous circumstances, John Mor(t)on threw them under the bus to pander to those who support the mass-scale criminal trespass into our country. It’s truly despicable. Julie L. Myers was bad enough. But this guy is far, far worse. Not only has he publicly attacked his agents, but so has his tax-paid ICE Public Affairs Director, Brian Hale, a man who should definitely be fired along with Morton.

Patrick Murray, Vice President of Enforcement and Removal Operations, for ICE Council 118–ICE agents’ union, sent me the following press release, which is a must-read, as what is detailed therein is outrageous:

Union Defends ICE Agents in Detroit: Leaders Call on ICE Managers to Quit Playing Politics

Union defends ICE Agents in Detroit: On the morning of April 5, 2011 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Fugitive Operations Officers were conducting routine surveillance of a home in the Detroit area suspected to be the residence of a criminal fugitive ordered deported from the United States by a Federal Judge.

Leaders call on ICE managers to quit playing politics.

On the morning of April 5, 2011 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Fugitive Operations Officers were conducting routine surveillance of a home in the Detroit area suspected to be the residence of a criminal fugitive ordered deported from the United States by a Federal Judge. When a vehicle left the residence ICE Agents adhered to standard law enforcement surveillance techniques and followed.

As the vehicle entered a school area Agents broke contact but maintained surveillance from a distance. When the vehicle drove away from the area Agents followed unobserved for approximately five blocks before pulling the car over and arresting the fugitive identified on the warrant in their possession. “It was textbook law enforcement,” said Chris Crane, President of the National ICE Council, the Union representing ICE Agents and Officers, “I’m proud of our Officers and the professionalism they displayed in conducting their duties.”

However, this routine arrest has erupted in a media storm of false accusations and misinformation. Immigration Activists claim that the school was surrounded by ICE Agents who profiled and stalked Hispanic residents, made warrantless arrests and otherwise terrorized innocent bystanders and children. Crane denies those allegations. “None of the people making these allegations have the facts; ICE Agents were acting under an order from a Federal Judge. No man, woman or child was terrorized or harassed; nobody surrounded the school or took any other action around it.”

Crane also rejected statements by ICE Public Affairs Director Brian Hale that implied ICE Agents had acted contrary to ICE policy. “ICE hadn’t even spoken to the officers involved when Hale made those statements. His statements were premature and inaccurate. Mr. Hale is not an officer, does not represent ICE Agents, and clearly is not familiar with ICE policy regarding surveillance near schools. His comments have created confusion and fueled this storm”

This is not the first time Hale has failed to accurately represent ICE Officers in the field the Union alleges. In March, the Union filed a formal complaint with ICE Director John Morton calling for Hale’s resignation alleging he told the press that ICE did not consider its own agents to be “real agents.” Hale allegedly made these statements after masked gunman entered the home of an ICE Agent in Texas to kill the Agent, but when he was not at home molested his fianceé. “We were outraged,” Crane said, “our Agent needed help and instead our own Agency attacked us.” ICE Director John Morton did not respond to the Union’s complaint.

“Thanks to ICE, newspapers and blogs across the country now read ‘ICE admits to wrongdoing in Detroit,’ but our officers did nothing wrong. ICE is abusing its authority and attacking its employees instead of protecting them, it’s time for ICE to quit playing politics and defend our officers publicly.”

The National ICE Council represents 7,000 ICE Officers, Agents and employees working for ICE.

Meanwhile, ICE agents at headquarters in Washington keep telling me about the bevy of fancy cars, hotels, and restaurants John Morton is charging up courtesy of you. And, remember, he’s the one spending your time and money, hobnobbing with open anti-Semites from Egypt, like Zahi Hawass. He’s also the same guy who told ICE agents not to arrest illegal aliens during the census or ever. This guy isn’t just incompetent. He’s responsible for further destroying the country. And he’s definitely responsible for the ultimate nadir of morale within his agency. There simply doesn’t seem to be a reason to even have ICE as a continuing agency. If you won’t let your agents do their jobs, if you won’t let them follow court orders and pick up and deport people, then why keep the shop open?

It’s beyond disgusting what he is saying about and doing to his agents. Only a complete scumbag would apologize to criminals and malefactors and attack his own good people.

And that’s exactly what John Mor(t)on is. A schmuck. Period.

College Course: US Flag Is Racist, How-To Defeat America In Iraq And Afghanistan

by Dan Riehl

While claiming the American flag represents racism and discussing today’s Progressive Movement’s efforts to defeat America both at home and abroad, including on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan to help their international “comrades,” Communist Tony Pecinovsky pulls the mask off today’s Progressive Movement in two new exclusive Big Government videos of a University of Missouri course offering, already much in the news.

Pecinovsky first came to light yesterday in a Washington Times item by Kerry Picket.

Communism 101 at the University

Tony Pecinovsky, a Communist Party USA representative who is serving as the Communications Workers of America Secretary and Treasurer in St. Louis, spoke to students at the University of Missouri in St. Louis. In the video, he speaks about how the Communist Party looks to support candidates saying (5:30 mark in the video):

While discussing “the idea that the American flag is racist,” in the video below, Pecinovsky mentions a 2005 international youth festival in Venezuela sponsored by the World Federation of Democratic Youth(WFDY).

Pecinovsky brags that the WFDY is officially recognized by the United Nations. He also defines Cuba, Venezuela, and others as genuinely ”progressive,” the very same code word today’s entire American Left uses for itself. That would include the Obama administration and today’s Democrat Party, which it has finally managed to take over. In deed, in the second video, Pecinovsky touts their linkage to such so-called mainstream efforts, including trade unions.

The Young Communist League(YCL) sent 700 young Americans to Venezuela for the event. There, claims Pecinovsky, they had to actually engage in internal debate as to whether, or not to display the American flag next to the flags of countries like Cuba and Venezuela. If they did, it would be only so as to reclaim it from representing racism and what he calls the Right Wing. That includes the Bush administration, as Pecinovsky later reveals.

Going on to call America “the belly of the beast,” Pecinovsky notes the surprising growth of the Communist Party in America today, claiming an additional 1,500 – 2,000 new members this year, just through the Internet. That number does not include results from ground-level activism and recruiting, according to Pecinovsky.

In the above video, Pecinovsky defines Progressive Internationalismin terms of how to isolate and defeat what he calls the “ultra Right” in the US. Bear in mind, to him, that term means free market Capitalism and traditional forms of liberty America has traditionally embraced, as well as the previous Bush administration. When speaking of the Left’s “Iraqi comrades,” and again in speaking about Afghanistan, Pecinovsky’s and the greater Left’s view is, they are organizing domestically to beat America abroad, as well as at home, including while we are at war.

Lest some critics want to dismiss Pecinovsky as some far Leftist fanatic, one only need look to the Peace Movement - which he also addresses, to understand how his progressivism is the very same as that of today’s mainstream Democratic Party. In many ways, it was said Peace Movement and its propaganda, circulated by a complicit media, that so tipped the scales against former President Bush, opening the way for Obama to win the WHite House in 2008.

It was former Democrat Vice President Al Gore who accused then President Bush of betraying the countryover Iraq, not some minor Communist activist lecturing a class in Missouri. Those unwilling, or unable to make the very real connection between a Pecinovsky and the Democrat administration we currently have in Washington are simply putting their heads in the sand.

As if to highlight that point, Pecinovsky mentions how his and the Democrat’s anti-American agenda is closely tied to who holds sway in the White House and Congress. He is not talking revolution, but a taking over of America from within, with what he identifies as a “larger movement.” That’s today’s Left - in practice not theory. And that is precisely what was happening in Washington, until the political reversals of 2010. Was not ObamaCare dictated to us, despite an election in Massachusettes clearly identifying any American majority opinion as opposed to it?

Moving on from the Peace Movement, to Labor, Pecinovsky runs through the well-known alliances making up today’s far Left as part of a unified “larger movement. “Almost every member of our (communist) organization is a member of a union, is a member of a coalition, is a member of neighborhood association. Is a member of a peace organization.” WHile he didn’t say it, how do they differ, especially “neighborhood association,” from community organizer? They don’t. And we know who the community-organizer-in-chief is in America today, do we not?

In terms of unity, he talks of the existing alliances between many nationally recognized groups and movements through which he and others organize to bring about … change, I suppose. What the Communist Pecinovsky is part of is not simply some ten member group meeting monthly in a basement somewhere. He makes it quite clear how broad and networked is today’s Progressive movement through much larger organizations of, ultimately, like-minded groups with large memberships.

Capitalism is “the ultimate enemy,” says Pecinovsky at 4:20 into the second video. The goal, he says, is not “duel unionism,” in which some even further Left splits off on his own. What they do and have done already is infiltrate groups already in existence. The mobs that recently swarmed Wisconsin, issuing violent threats to Governor Walker and lawmakers did not simply appear out of nowhere. And now it’s busy trying to recall some of the latter.

Finally, to think that a university selling this anti-American, anti-Capitalist ideology would get $400 million in taxpayer dollars, only to squander some portion of it on classes and an institute of some kind to poison young minds against the very country that built and now largely funds said institution, is only adding insult to injury.

Texas Redistricting Plan Punishes Texas Conservatives (ACTION NEEDED)

A very interesting post from http://www.redstate.com/  about redistricting in the state of Texas. This follows this post about the Earned Income Tax Credit and this article about  the recent news about ending the ban on offshore drilling which would encourage American energy independence This is a key issue to prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran  and Venezuela. Texas Redistricting Plan Punishes Texas Conservatives (ACTION NEEDED)
From the diaries by Erick

Texas Redistricting is underway, and a shocking blunder is about to happen in Texas. The Republican majority is about to pass, at the behest of the supposedly Republican Speaker, a redistricting plan that punishes conservative Republicans so badly, it might as well have been a Democratic gerrymander. Coming off the heels of an amazing Republican victory last November, the plan forces Republican incumbents in 8 districts to be paired off, and curiously, many of them are conservatives and freshmen Reps who opposed Speaker Straus.

Last November, State Rep Bryan Hughes accused Speaker Straus’ team of threatening redistricting actions to get support. Well, that exact operation appears to be going down - and in his zeal for punishing conservative, Straus is making it harder to keep some Republican seats. Despite 101 Republicans, the ‘committee’ plan draws only 93 Republican seats. In other words, a map is drawn to deliberately give 8 Republicans the short end of the stick. And worse, many of this is not necessary at all. A glaring example is the pairing of Rep Jim Landroop with Rep Charles Perry, while a nearby district is drawn with no incumbent.

The map hits home here in Travis county in central Texas: Even though they could easily draw two Republican seats, the committee deliberately put most Travis Republicans into a single sprawling district (HD47), while making another seat that a Democrat won by a literal handful of votes in 2010 (HD48) more Democrat! In other words, the committee map deliberately is protecting Democrats better than it protects Republicans. It’s so bad for Republicans, it’s as if a Democrat drew the map.

This YouTube emergency action alert by conservative Republican State Rep Wayne Christian raised the alarm, and his description of what was done to him, will open some eyes. His district has been literally taken apart.

But there is good news in this video: There is an alternative map being drawn up by former State Rep Joe Nixon. The alternative plan draws 97 instead of 93 Republican seats and works hard at fixing manifest problems with the committee map.

Like too many of these ‘insider’ betrayals, this redistricting betrayal is happening too quickly for many to notice or take effective action to oppose. The map was only made public one week ago, the public was given ‘input’ only for 2 days after that, and the House vote on it is next Tuesday, right after Easter. We only have a few days to make a difference. But we will need to in order to save conservatives in the State house. The ACTION NEEDED  for Texas conservatives is simply this: Get your State Rep alerted that you want them to support the “Nixon map” alternative. It stops the punishment of conservative State Reps who opposed Straus.

Ask For Passage of State E-Verify Legislation Now!

An urgent post from www.NumbersUSA.com about immigration bills in the key state of Texas. This follows this post about congressional redistricting and this follows this post which shows that there are 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso. On a related note, you can read about Miss Kentucky Latina here, an interesting article about Jessica Alba here or another article about Salma Hayek here. For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and you can read a very interesting book HERE!

Ask For Passage of State E-Verify Legislation Now!

Dear activist,

On Thursday, April 28th, the House State Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on another E-Verify bill – HB 1275. Time is running out for getting a bill through the House because a bill must clear the State Affairs Committee, and have a floor vote scheduled by the Calendars Committee, by May 9th.

While HB 1275 is not the strongest possible E-Verify bill, it is critical to get an E-Verify bill out of committee so we have something to work with on the floor. Too many good bills have died in the State Affairs Committee in prior sessions. We cannot afford to let this happen again!

If you live in the Austin area, or can travel to the Capitol, please testify at the hearing. The hearing could start any time after 3 pm and no one will know in advance. You will not be allowed to wait in the hearing room but you should fill out a form for testifying (outside the room) by 3 pm. You can watch the floor proceedings from the House Gallery and then go back to the hearing room when they adjourn.

The Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas (IRCOT) suggests that you be prepared for a late night and wear comfortable shoes. Parking is available at the public parking garage at 12th and Trinity. Contact IRCOT at ircot2@yahoo.com  if you need more information on testifying.

BRICS Desire Stronger Voice

An interesting article from http://wnponline.wordpress.com/ about the dollar's demise. This follows this post about Easter.  For a free magazine subscription or to get this book for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886-8632.

BRICS Desire Stronger Voice

The calls to replace the dollar as the world currency continue. What seems to be a newly formed bloc of nations, the BRICS, met this week in China to discuss the continuing world monetary disorder. These nations, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, desire s greater voice and an end to the economic dominance of the dollar.

In a statement the group said what was needed was, “a broad-based international reserve currency system providing stability and certainty”. “The world economy is undergoing profound and complex changes,” Chinese President Hu Jintao said. “The era demands that the BRICS countries strengthen dialogue and cooperation.”

This group of emerging nations are an interesting mixture of emerging nations. There common theme to date appears to be a strong desire to have a voice in world affairs, countering the more dominant position of western powers. While strident, it does not now appear they have the clout to do assert the type of power that can by itself bring fundamental change. They do, however, add to the growing voice of concern and doubt in America’s economic leadership.

In a week where the Obama administration demonstrated little visionary leadership to curb America’s growing debt bomb this little development on the far side of the world should not be misunderstood. The United States’ role in world leadership is changing on many fronts. Other nations want a voice at the table and are not content to stand by in a secondary role.

America is facing a defining moment for its role as a global power. The sun has not set. At the very least it has reached its zenith. Unless fundamental changes are made the only question remaining is the rate in which it declines.

EPA Ruling Kills Shell’s Plans to Drill Offshore Alaska

An interesting post from www.redstate.com about the EPA banning drilling in Alaska. This follows this post  about the domestic oil drilling ban. This follows this post about a creative solution to Gulf drilling and this previous article about the recent news about the ban on offshore drilling to encourage American energy independence This is a key issue to prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran and Venezuela.  EPA Ruling Kills Shell’s Plans to Drill Offshore Alaska

So will they refund Shell's $2 billion?

Posted by Steve Maley (Profile)

A ruling by the Environmental Appeals Board of the EPA has scuttled Shell Oil Company’s plan to drill its initial exploratory test in Alaska’s Chukchi Sea. This is at least the second time drilling has been deferred or delayed due to environmental concerns. But this time, the reason proffered by EPA seems to be “Because we can.”

The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project. Environmental groups were thrilled by the ruling.

We have handed radical environmentalists veto power over domestic development. It matters little whether the pretext is (as in this case) ship exhaust 70 miles distant from the nearest human settlement, “burning water” or a 3-inch lizard in West Texas, environmental extremists are hell-bent on shutting down any and all development of conventional fuels in the United States. EPA offers them all the tools they need.

Let’s stipulate for the time being that a reasonable development time frame for a large-scale, remote oil development in the Arctic offshore is at least ten years. Some of the larger fields in the Gulf of Mexico have taken that long; compared to the Chukchi Sea, off Alaska’s northwest coast, the Gulf of Mexico is a bathtub. Ten years spans two and a half Presidential terms, five Congresses and at least one election cycle for each Senator. All the EPA’s anti-industry careerists need do is wait patiently for the opportunity to stop any large-scale development dead in its tracks.

Shell bought the Chukchi Sea leases from a willing Federal government in 2008 at a cost of $2 billion. They have spent another $2 billion on the pre-drill exploratory phase. When you’re a capitalist with a large investment on the line, time is not your friend. Since the weather window for Arctic operations is limited to the summer, a delay of a couple of months effectively kills a year. (Which raises an interesting question: Since Shell bought its leases in good faith and the stroke of an administrative pen took its rights away, shouldn’t the US be willing to refund Shell’s $2 billion?)

[Shell's VP Pete Slaiby is] especially frustrated over the appeal board’s suggestion that the Arctic drill would somehow be hazardous for the people who live in the area. “We think the issues were really not major,” Slaiby said, “and clearly not impactful for the communities we work in.”

The closest village to where Shell proposed to drill is Kaktovik, Alaska. It is one of the most remote places in the United States. According to the latest census, the population is 245 and nearly all of the residents are Alaska natives. The village, which is 1 square mile, sits right along the shores of the Beaufort Sea, 70 miles away from the proposed off-shore drill site.

We can go through this perverse kabuki dance that Shell’s air permit was with held up

1.for the indigenous people

2.for the children

3.for the polar bear

4.all of the above,

but the real motivation, the real prize, is the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. The design throughput of the pipe is in excess of 2 million barrels of oil per day; recent throughput is around 600,000 barrels per day. At some limiting rate (I’ve heard 200,000 barrels per day), the cost to operate the line will exceed the value of operating it, and it will be shut down.

Pipeline shut-down is the ultimate goal of the environmental movement. Not just ANWR, but any new development must be stopped so that TAPS dies an early and unnatural death.

According to the US Geological Survey, the Arctic regions of the world hold 90 billion barrels of oil and 1,670 trillion cubic feet of natural gas resources. (This is a scientific guess, because the region is so lightly drilled.) Only recently, Statoil announced a large discovery in the Barents Sea, north of Norway. Russia also has active plans to develop its extensive Arctic resources. And while it’s not in the Arctic, Canada has produced several large fields offshore Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, an area known for hostile sea conditions with the threat of icebergs.

We as Americans have done nothing to curtail our demand for petroleum, but we have allowed the supposed protectors of our environment to block development at almost every turn. When we go, hat in hand, to OPEC or foreign regimes seeking access to oil, they ask a legitimate question: “Why are you asking us to do things that you refuse to do for yourselves?”

Weekend Box Office: “Water for Elephants”

Here is an interesting article from http://www.debbieschlussel.com/  reviewing some of the movies that came out over the past weekend. This follows this post some of the movies from last week and  THIS POST about some movies that have been released over the past few years that you might have missed!  This all  follows this post about guidelines to chosing good movies to watch yourself!

Weekend Box Office: “Water for Elephants”

By Debbie Schlussel

There’s a lot of hype surrounding the highly stylized “Water for Elephants,” set in the 1930s and debuting in theaters today. Don’t believe it. It’s basically a two-hour animal rights commercial mixed with a very stale chick flick, lacking any spark. On top of that, this movie is just a violent waste of time set in a traveling circus with cool old-time fashions. It’s long, slow, boring, and entirely predictable. There is absolutely no magic or chemistry between the two romantic leads, Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon may be cute–and in this movie, she is very pretty–but this flick solidified it for me: she’s over-rated as an actress and not very good at the job. Her performance was flat.

The only thing I got out of this movie was learning that Christoph Waltz can only play one role: cold, calculating, violent, cruel Nazi killer. He’s taken his famous Nazi role from “Inglourious Basterds” (read my review) and transferred it into his German immigrant circus owner role. Heil Big Top. Instead of beating Jews, though, Waltz is beating elephants. Get it?–Animals are persecuted like Jews. Of course, that’s absurd, but that’s essentially what the filmmakers must want you to think since they cast him in the “Nazi” circus animal abuser role. The guy is a one-note act. But PETA (or as we call it on this site, PUTAh–People for the Unethical Treatment of Animals and humans) must be orgasmic over this movie.

The story: an old man (Hal Holbrook, the only character you really like and care about in the movie–other than the elephant, and he’s only in the opening and closing scenes, as the less likeable Pattinson plays him as a younger man for most of the movie) wanders around the entrance of a modern-day circus, where the circus operators confuse him for a senile man who has missed the bus back to the old folks home. While waiting for them to call his caretakers, he sees a picture of the traveling circus operation, Benzini Brothers, for which he used to work.

The man is Jacob Jankowski , whose parents were Polish immigrants in 1931, during the Depression. They put him through veterinary school at Cornell, but as he’s taking his final exams, they die in an accident, and he loses everything. He gets a job with a traveling circus, where he works as an ad hoc veterinarian and falls in love with the wife (Witherspoon) of the evil circus owner (Waltz). The owner beats animals and kills his performers by throwing them head first off the traveling circus train, when he cannot afford to pay them. Much of the movie surrounds an elephant act, which is a successful circus attraction.

Young, strapping guy rescues beautiful woman from her evil, abusive husband. You’ve seen this story a million times before, and the only difference here is the setting and costumes. There’s nothing new or interesting here, and it’s not even particularly well told. Not even close.

I’m surprised the movie is PG-13, because it isn’t for kids, even with parents. The movie is very violent and there are lots of beatings and killings, in addition to lots of four-letter words. In the second scene of the movie, Pattinson talks about his experience in veterinary school as “shoving my hand up so many cows’ a–es.” Yup, you stay classy Hollywood.

I wish I could say this was mildly entertaining, but it wasn’t. I struggled to stay awake. It was like watching paint dry, and Witherspoon’s absolutely stunning old school haute couture clothing wasn’t enough to keep me interested (and I love that vintage stuff). Her character wasn’t that likeable either. Just kinda selfish.

Like I said, this one is slow, dull, boring and a commercial for the anti-circus, animal rights crowd that really does see circus owners as top Nazi generals. Perspective, morons. Perspective. I was gonna give this film one-and-a-half tofurkeys, but instead, I give it . . .

Is Easter Tradition or Truth?

An interesting article from http://www.ucg.org/ about Easter. This follows this post about Jesus Christ.  For a free magazine subscription or to get this book for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886-8632.

Is Easter Tradition or Truth?

A commentary by Jerold Aust

Proofs of the Easter tradition

"The term 'Easter' is not of Christian origin. It is another form of Astarte, one of the titles of the Chaldean goddess, the queen of heaven. The festival of Pasch [Passover] held by Christians in post-apostolic times was a continuation of the Jewish feast…From this Pasch the pagan festival of 'Easter' was quite distinct and was introduced into the apostate Western religion, as part of the attempt to adapt pagan festivals to Christianity" (Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary, W.E. Vine, Easter, p. 344-5, 1985, emphases mine throughout).

Easter is defined by The Catholic Encyclopedia as follows: "The English term [Easter], according to the [eighth-century monk] Bede, relates to Eostre, a Teutonic goddess of the rising light of day and spring, which deity, however, is otherwise unknown" (1909, Vol. 5, p. 224). God weighs in on that deity.

The prophet Ezekiel addresses how ancient Israel took on the trappings of Gentile idolatry, including the worship of Tammuz and Ishtar (Easter), the Queen of Heaven (see Jeremiah 7:18) and/or Semiramus. "So He brought me into the inner court of the Lord's house; and there, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, and they were worshiping the sun toward the east" (Ezekiel 8:16).

Finally, the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (ISBE) connects the worship of Ishtar/Easter, hot cross buns and the queen of heaven: "In that worship the queen of heaven had a conspicuous place; and if, as seems probable from the cakes which were offered, she is to be identified with the Assyrian Ishtar and the Canaanite Astarte, the worship itself was of a grossly immoral and debasing character. That this Ishtar cult was of great antiquity and widely spread in ancient Babylonia may be seen from the symbols of it found in recent excavations" (see Nippur, II, 236) (ISBE, Queen of Heaven, 1986, volume 4, p. 2514).

The Bible on Easter

The truth is that Jesus, His apostles and the early New Testament Church had no part whatsoever in what two billion nominal Christians observe today as Easter.

The Catholic Encyclopedia confirms this fact: "The earliest Christians did not immediately dissociate themselves from the observance of the Jewish feasts [rather, God's Feasts; see Leviticus 23]. Many references in the New Testament indicate that Jesus and His disciples, as well as the early Palestinian Christian communities, observed the Sabbath[seventh day Sabbath] and the major annual festivals [Leviticus 23; not Easter or Christmas]" (Early Christian Feasts, New Catholic Encyclopedia, 1967, Vol. 5, p. 867).

"Not only was the significance of the Jewish feast changed [from Passover to Easter] by the Christians, but also the date" (ibid., p. 7). God predicted this would happen 2,600 years ago (Daniel 7:25).

Jesus was indeed resurrected from the dead, as He prophesied, precisely three nights and three days after He died on the stake (Matthew 12:40). He died in mid-week. Modern Christian religions substituted Good Friday to Easter Sunday sunrise service for the truth.

What would Jesus do?

Would Jesus celebrate Easter today? Jesus could not have observed a pagan holiday that came from the ancient worship of a counterfeit goddess and her godless son, Tammuz. Had He done so, He would have sinned. Jesus could never be our Savior if He sinned (1 Peter 2:22; Hebrews 4:15; 9:14).

What should you do?

What should you do after reading the truth about the modern Easter celebration? Should you not consider the contradiction of terms to honor a risen Christ when most Christians believe that they go directly to heaven at death? Did you realize that your life after death depends on Jesus Christ's resurrection, and not the false notion of heaven and hell (1 Corinthians 15:15-22)?

Easter is derived entirely from human tradition and not from God's holy truth (John 8:32). God doesn't accept the celebration of Easter; He warns humankind against idolatry (Revelation 21:8). Yet there is a positive side for those who acknowledge the death and life of Christ Jesus, according to Christ's truth. God supernaturally blesses those who truly honor Him and Christ, in tangible ways (Matthew 5:19).

We invite you to order the free booklet, Holidays or Holy Days: Does It Matter Which Days We Observe? It addresses the celebration of Easter, and it can help change your life for good.

Immigrants And EITC–Defrauding The American Taxpayer

Ed Rubenstein Report: Immigrants And EITC–Defrauding The American Taxpayer

Ed Rubenstein has done a lot of work over the years on the EITC–apparently the Internal Revenue people like sending out those Earned Income Tax Credit checks so much that they don’t care if you’re an illegal immigrant or not.

Ed has a new report available from the Social Contract Press–check it out!

Report - Defrauding the American Taxpayer - The Earned Income Tax Credit - April, 2011

The Social Contract Press

As millions of Americans brace themselves to pay taxes on April 15th, millions of illegal aliens get ready to celebrate a cash windfall of up to $5,750 from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Why is this? Ed Rubenstein, president of ESR Research and a former director of research at the Hudson Institute, explains in his recently updated report entitled Defrauding the American Taxpayer - The Earned Income Tax Credit and Illegal Immigration, that illegal aliens are among the chief beneficiaries of the $62.5 billion income transfer scheme known as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

In the report Rubenstein reveals that the IRS knowingly allows illegal aliens to defraud taxpayers by getting cash EITC payments of up to $5,750 for a family of five. The IRS also refuses to implement recommendations from its own Inspector General’s office that could stop massive EITC fraud that costs taxpayers as much as $13 billion a year.

Rubenstein also shows how Congress has changed a federal kick-back program intended to supplement the earnings of low income workers, into one that subsidizes parenthood and disproportionately benefits immigrant families as opposed to those of native workers.

What Does It Mean to Believe in Jesus?

What Does It Mean to Believe in Jesus?

Many claim to believe in Jesus Christ, but according to the Bible they really don't. How can you know that your belief is genuine?

by David Treybig

The New Testament urges us throughout to believe in Jesus Christ. The well-known scripture John 3:16 explains that God loved the world and gave His Son so "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Other passages promise that those who believe in Jesus receive forgiveness of their sins (Acts 10:43) and salvation (Romans 1:16). Believing in Jesus is obviously very important.

In recognition of this instruction, many have been told that all they need to do is believe on Jesus to receive the benefit of all His promised blessings. But what many do not understand is what Jesus and the New Testament writers actually meant by the directive to "believe." The vast majority of those claiming to be Christians today assume that this word simply means to recognize Jesus as Savior.

Many well-intentioned yet mistaken teachers have said that nothing else is required along with belief in Jesus. Their reasoning is that if any works are involved, a person is trying to earn his salvation—something that is impossible to do (Galatians 2:16). Indeed, it is by grace —God's favor toward us, including His gift of undeserved, unearned pardon—that we are saved (2 Timothy 1:9; Ephesians 2:5, 8).

But if no works are involved, does this mean one who believes that God exists and that Jesus is His Son and who is willing to receive all God's promises doesn't need to do anything? Does this mean such an individual can live a life of sexual immorality, lying, stealing, killing—breaking every commandment of God—and still receive eternal life?

Human beings have long wrestled with understanding the relationship between believing in Jesus and good works. Human opinions and interpretations abound. Let's lay these aside and see how Jesus and the writers of the New Testament explain what believing in Jesus means.

Believing means accepting all of Jesus' teaching

After miraculously feeding 5,000 men plus women and children with five loaves of bread and two small fish, the disciples gathered up 12 baskets of leftover food (John 6:5-13). "Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did [the miracle of feeding the multitude], said, 'This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world'" (verse 14)—a reference to a great successor to Moses foretold in Scripture. These men believed that Jesus truly was of God.

After Jesus departed from the scene, many of those who enjoyed the miraculous meal came searching for Him. They wanted Jesus to perform another miracle, saying that this would help them believe Him (verse 30).

Rather than perform another miracle at this time, Jesus taught the people. He explained that, unlike the physical bread the crowd had recently eaten, He was the true bread from heaven who would give eternal life to the world (verses 32-33).

He told them that His followers would need to "eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood" (verse 53)—referring to the symbols of bread and wine in the annual Passover service and internalizing what these meant, affirming their covenant relationship with Him. This would ultimately lead to eternal life (verse 54).

Many of those listening to Jesus, including His own disciples, found this teaching difficult to understand (verse 60). Addressing this large group, Jesus then said, "'But there are some of you who do not believe.' For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him." After this, "many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more" (verses 64, 66).

Though many of these same people had said that they believed Jesus was "the Prophet" whose coming was foretold by Scripture (verse 14), they did not believe what Jesus said. What Jesus meant by believing in Him included believing everything He said. It meant far more than just accepting free gifts He was offering.

Believing means conviction to obey

One of the many traditions of the Jews during the first century was to carefully wash their hands in a special way prior to eating food. Noticing that some of Jesus' disciples had started eating without going through this meticulous ceremony, some of the Pharisees and scribes found fault with them and asked Jesus why His disciples had not carried out this ritual (Mark 7:1-5).

Jesus told them that they were hypocrites for asking such a question, declaring that these words from the Old Testament applied to them: "This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men" (verses 6-7).

Continuing, Jesus said, "'For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do . . . All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition'" (verses 8-9).

Today many who claim to believe in Jesus also follow the commandments of men rather than those of God. For example, instead of assembling to worship God on the biblical weekly Sabbath (sunset Friday to sunset Saturday) and annual Holy Days as commanded by God, they worship on Sunday and holidays that originated in pagan religious worship, including Christmas and Easter.

In His famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" (Matthew 7:21-23, emphasis added throughout).

In accepting the correct teaching that we cannot earn our salvation through works, many have naively embraced the incorrect teaching that keeping God's commandments doesn't matter. Jesus' own words clearly show that He expects believers to lay aside the commandments of men and keep the commandments of God—even though this obedience will not earn them salvation.

Believing means resolving to be baptized

A popular notion among some professing Christians is that baptism is unnecessary because all one has to do is accept Jesus in one's heart. In this regard, some note Romans 10:9, which says, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Again, the issue here is: What does it mean to believe in your heart? And once again, rather than letting others define what constitutes believing, let's note what Jesus said.

In giving instructions to His disciples about the work they would do following His return to heaven, Jesus plainly told them: "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:15-16, New International Version).

Jesus clearly taught that genuine belief in Him would be coupled with baptism. Other passages show us that baptism includes repentance—changing from a sinful lifestyle to one of obedience to God's laws (Matthew 4:17; Acts 2:38).

When we look at Christ's teaching and that of His disciples, it becomes clear that when they said we must believe in Christ, this was with the perspective that believing would include baptism. Baptism is an outward symbol of a person's new life based on turning from breaking God's laws to obeying God's laws.

The notion that one can believe in Jesus without obeying His instructions, keeping the commandments and being baptized is a common but biblically flawed perspective. Jesus addressed this same fallacy during His earthly ministry by asking, "Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46).

To the contrary, He said, "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples" (John 15:8). Genuine belief in Jesus is not a passive experience. Disciples of Jesus will act on His teaching!

When it comes to deciding what believing in Jesus means, why not believe and act on what Jesus Himself said? GN
