When Do I Get a Break?

Printer-friendly version

Are you working more and relaxing less? Doing more but never getting everything done? Running here and there but only running yourself down? Maybe it's time you took a break!

In today's world of rush here, hurry there, a haggard lament often arises with a weary sigh: "When do I get a break? I never have any time for myself. I'm up before dawn getting ready for work, commute an hour or more, work at least eight hours, commute home arriving after dark—and I'm beat."
Family responsibilities add to the load. Many a mom tells the same story:
"I was up at 3 a.m. to comfort a child with an upset stomach, then got out of bed at 5 a.m. to make lunches for everyone, put a load of clothes in the washer, fix breakfast, get the children dressed and off to school, and get ready for work. I leave from work to pick up the children after school and go home. Then I take the clothes out of the washer, put them in the dryer and prepare dinner. After dinner, I do the dishes and get the children ready for bed.
"That doesn't include doing the ironing and cleaning the house. I don't have time to be exhausted, but I am. Just after midnight one of the children is having a nightmare and needs comforting. Finally I get back to bed and start the whole thing over again at 5 a.m."

Working more, relaxing less

It seems there's never time to sit back and relax—and if we do, we feel guilty. What's the answer? Life is much more than the 40 hours a week on the job. How in this complicated 21st century (filled with time-saving devices!) can a person find time to take a deep breath and just sit down? Is it possible?
The calendar has Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and others. It seems there is a day for everything—but where is your day? Many people don't even have time for a vacation!
Sound familiar? One of the major complaints people have is about finding time for themselves or their family. Historically, after World War II, Americans had the shortest working week in the world. Now, according to Boston College professor Juliet Schor, they have the longest. Her comment is that the average American worker now puts in 200 hours per year more than in 1973.
Astonishing, isn't it? People are so desperate for some free time that, states the Center for a New American Dream, half of the work force would trade a day off for a day less pay.
All these things are complicated by the fact that as soon as a tiny break presents itself, a compulsion to fill it takes over. We immediately rush to surf the net, talk on the cell phone, play a computer game, take one of the kids to soccer and another one to tennis or something. We find it nearly impossible to sit still.
That is a part of the problem. Most people aren't comfortable unless something is going on. Society has convinced us that we should never just sit without something happening.
Sitting quietly and contemplating a beautiful sunset is almost a lost art, as is staring deeply into a crackling fire. It's sometimes joked that those who practice yoga sit and contemplate their navel. I'm not recommending that, but we do need to learn how to rest or enjoy free time without something being scheduled to fill every minute of every day.

What's the answer?

Do you need a break enough to take advantage of such a time? Do you want to hear about it? How badly do you want that break? Is it enough to trade a day of pay for a day off? Are you sure?
Oddly enough, there is a time expressly made for just that. It's a time for a person to take a break—designed for all men and women, regardless of how busy their week may be.
You may be thinking, "I'm always behind and can't get everything done as it is." If that's the case, making some time for yourself isn't going to make that much difference. You'll still be behind, but you will have had a break—and maybe now you can get more done in the remaining time than you would have otherwise.
Every one of us has 24 hours in our day. We all have seven days in the week, totaling 168 hours. You might say, "And I still don't have any free time!"
Yet 24 of those 168 hours are intended specifically to give you the break for which you long. They are designed to be a special time for the whole family. Parents think of their working week, but children need a break as well. Many of them won't slow down long enough to take time for an appropriate meal. If they do, it's usually to gulp it down and rush off to something else.

Starting at the beginning

Could you handle a time to relax? What would it be worth to you?
Let's start at the beginning. A supreme Creator exists who made all things, including you and me. He fully understood the mind of man and knew men and women would crowd the week with their own activities. He also knew the tendency of humanity to ignore personal health and welfare in favor of keeping busy.
So He created a day and set it apart as a rest day. He actually commanded that man take a break each week. You can read it for yourself in His instruction book for us, the Bible.
After six days of creating a wonderful world for man to dwell in (as well as creating man himself), we find that God rested from all His work. "Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made" (Genesis:2:1-3).
Did He bless it and sanctify it for His own use? The answer is a resounding no . God doesn't need to rest. This is simply telling us He ceased the work of the physical creation. Why, then, did He set apart the seventh day? He was setting us an example that we need a break from physical activity.
Jesus Christ spelled this out in Mark:2:27-28: "And He said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man , and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.'" He plainly says that the seventh day, also called the Sabbath, was made for man as a time to take a break from our everyday routine as well as a time to worship God.
There is your break. There is a 24-hour period every seven days in which you can renew your energies, both mentally and physically. Stress and overwork is a major health problem today. Hypertension results from never making the time to relax. These 24 hours were made to relieve that problem, among many others. It gives us a specific "break time" every week.
When God gave Moses the Ten Commandments , one of those commandments dealt directly with the Sabbath: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work . . ." (Exodus:20:8-10).
This is not an idle comment. The day God made for man—the Sabbath, the seventh day of the week—is intended to be acknowledged by man by using the time differently from the normal workday. Most of humanity has ignored this particular commandment down through the ages.

God concerned for His creation

God the Father is a patient and loving individual. He is concerned about the welfare of His creation. He has given humanity time to accept His commands, but eventually He does run out of patience.
Reread Exodus:20:9-10. His instruction is very specific: "Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work . . ."
The question is why? Why is it so important to take a day off from all work, regular and otherwise? If this is a day made for man, why not just do as you please? It is made for man, but it is a special time that has been set aside—hallowed—by God not only to rest but to be reminded of the Creator of all things.
Here is what He told the ancient nation of Israel: "Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, 'Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you. You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you'" (Exodus:31:13-14).
Then in verse 17 He adds: "It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed."

A blessing waiting for you

This statement was made to the nation God had chosen to be His special people, but it applies to all humanity. Jesus isn't just the God of the Israelites. He is the Savior of all humanity. That is clearly shown by His comment that "the Sabbath was made for man." We see it is more than only a day of rest. It also identifies the one keeping it with the Creator God who made it.
In society today, people wear all manner of identifying signs or symbols. Each nation has its own flag. Some wear a jacket, shirt or hat displaying the name of their favorite team, player or political party.
This verse says that keeping the Sabbath is an identifying sign, too. The Sabbath day identifies those who wish to truly honor the Creator. It also says to all who see, "I belong to and worship the God who made all things. My loyalty is to Him above all else." It also gives a much-needed break every week.
Someone might say, "I'm just not interested in religion." He or she still needs a break, so why not use the day that was created for that purpose? It is important. The Sabbath is a break for you, and it's also a time to learn about the Father of mankind.
The truth is there are great blessings in learning to "take a break." It helps to fight stress and gives the body a chance to recuperate from the toils of the week. The pressure is off.
It gives you an opportunity to sit back and relax, and even to have the chance to watch a beautiful sunset without feeling guilty. It is an opportunity to read to the children or to simply sit and talk with them, tightening the bond of love and respect between a parent and child and their God.
You need a break. You need a time when the pressures of work are set aside. Whether you're a man, woman or child, you need a chance to take a deep breath and just relax. Now the question is, do you really want a break ? Are you willing to accept the time God made for you to have a break? It is important to you. It is important to identify yourself with the Creator of the universe.
Will you do it? Will you finally learn to "take a break"? It's in your hands. Do it! GN

Would It Kill You To Hire More Black Cops? (Yes)

An interesting article from www.Vdare.com about increasing the amount of black police. This follows this post about Ferguson, Missouri.

Ann Coulter: Would It Kill You To Hire More Black Cops? (Yes)

Ann CoulterAs the story of Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson’s shooting of Michael Brown begins to look less clear-cut than we were led to believe by Brown’s friend, Dorian Johnson, the “voices of oppression” on MSNBC now say the real issue is that there aren’t enough blacks on the Ferguson police force.
As Brown may or may not have said seconds before his death: I give up.
If the Ferguson police are forced to hire more minorities and women for the sake of diversity, the one thing we can be sure of is that more black people will be murdered, raped and assaulted.
Someone’s got to say it, so it might as well be me: I’m against more black people being murdered, raped and assaulted.
In a massive, detailed 2000 study of the effect of court-ordered affirmative action plans on police departments, economist John Lott found that the more minorities on a police force, the higher the rates of murder, manslaughter, violent crime, robbery and aggravated assault will be. Violent crime increased by a minimum of 3.3 percent every year after affirmative action policies went into effect—and the spike in crime was highest in black neighborhoods.[Does a Helping Hand Put Others At Risk?: Affirmative Action, Police Departments, and Crime, Economic Inquiry, April 2000]
The problem was not with black cops, Lott’s study showed, but rather with the lowering of standards across the board, resulting in less-qualified officers of every race. To get more of MSNBC’s “voices of oppression” on police forces, requirements are reduced for all recruits. (Just as quality declined at MSNBC when “voices of oppression” had to be added to their lineup.)
We end up with cops who are criminals, the Rampart scandal of the 1990s and great movies like “Training Day.”
About a decade into a federal consent decree requiring the Los Angeles Police Department to hire more minority officers, the LAPD’S Rampart division was employing gang members in uniforms.
Training officer Jim Peasha told investigative reporter Jan Golab that he left his unit because of the preposterous recruits being sent to him as a result of affirmative action. “I had some fantastic minority recruits,” Peasha said. “One black kid was the best I ever had.” But he also had “one guy who I knew was on drugs and I couldn’t get him out. He wound up getting caught working as a guard at a rock (cocaine) house. An off-duty cop!” [How Racial P.C. Corrupted the LAPD , American Enterprise, June 2005]
It was almost as if the LAPD was turning into the public school system.
By the time of the Rampart scandal, two dozen black police officers in Los Angeles were suspected of gang activity. Most were forced out. Four officers were proved to have been engaging in criminal acts—including a bank robbery and an attempted murder. All were black and Hispanic. (Let’s call them “officers of oppression.”)
As a top official with the LAPD told Golab, “This is not an LAPD problem; this is a black problem.”
It was so obvious that affirmative action had led to the Rampart scandal that a “Blue Ribbon” commission specifically denied it. Twice. Using the exact same words. It was the equivalent of calling a press conference to announce that you’re not gay.
This is the irrelevancy printed twice in the commission’s report:
“Personnel Department experts found no instance where a candidate failed to meet the LAPD’s background or psychological standards. Moreover, the experts found no meaningful difference in the application of background and psychological standards to candidates of varying race or ethnicity.”[Rampart Reconsidered, PDF]
Wait—no applicants failed? That’s precisely the point! Everyone gets an “A,” every applicant becomes a police officer.
And no one imagined that only the minority officers would be less qualified. As Lott’s study showed, once standards are lowered to ensure “diversity,” standards are lowered for all recruits, resulting in a rainbow coalition of incompetence.
This is exactly how Democrats wrecked the economy with the subprime mortgage crisis. Then-Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Andrew Cuomo, Sen. Chris Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank bragged about how they were helping minorities get mortgages by forcing banks to adopt ridiculously low lending standards.
But once traditional measures of credit-worthiness were jettisoned, they were jettisoned for everyone. You will notice that the housing market crash was concentrated not in black neighborhoods, but in house-flipping hot spots.
Lott’s study did find some preliminary evidence that increasing the number of black male cops on a police force led to a slight reduction in shootings of civilians—as did having more white male cops. But more white females on a police force increased shootings of civilians. The voices of oppression don’t get to have it both ways.
The main benefit to having black cops shooting civilians is that Al Sharpton gets less air time, which I think we’re all in favor of. Also, when a black cop shoots a civilian, the whole world doesn’t have to stop, as the media go on a bloodhound-search for racism.
In 1999, four New York City police officers shot an unarmed immigrant, Amadou Diallo, after he disregarded their commands and pulled out what looked like a gun. It turned out to be a wallet.
(Diallo didn’t obey the officers because he didn’t speak English. Police work is going to be so exciting in Marco Rubio’s America. “Freeze! Para continuar en Espanol, marque el dos.”)
Just a few months later, a cop in Chicago shot an unarmed civilian, LaTanya Haggerty, a 26-year-old computer programmer, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a car. The officer thought LaTanya had a gun—but that turned out to be a cellphone.
There was no Bruce Springsteen song about LaTanya, no preening by Sen. Bill Bradley on the Senate floor, no 24/7 coverage. The FBI, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and the Justice Department didn’t open investigations into LaTanya’s shooting.
You’ve probably never even heard of LaTanya Haggerty—because the officer who shot her was black.
The Diallo cops were prosecuted for murder (and acquitted). The officer in Chicago lost her job. LaTanya Haggerty’s shooting is so little known that in 2008, the Chicago Sun-Times misidentified her as the officer, not the victim, in the shooting.
The only real advantage to compelling the Ferguson police force to adopt affirmative action hiring policies is that the media will be tickled pink with themselves for striking a blow against “racism.” On the other hand, more black people will be murdered, raped and maimed as crime rates rise. I guess it’s really just a matter of priorities.

Honesty, the Church and the power of the Gospel

"Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching" (2 Timothy:4:2). These are strong words.
In today's society, many equate growth with success. That goes for churches, too. Many want more members and the finances to have bigger buildings, more programs and more staff.
But let's be honest. Before dedicating resources to anything, some critical questions should be asked. Questions like:
"What is the desired outcome?" "What is the motivation?" "Does it match up with God's will?"
Why ask these questions? In this world, it is easy to get off track.
Human organizations set goals and objectives all the time. It keeps them focused. They carefully define their products and services.
However, consider this: A church's "product" transcends any human products. The desired biblical outcome reflects changed behavior in each of us. Paul wrote:
"I pray that out of his glorious riches  he [God] may strengthen you with power  through his Spirit in your inner being" (Ephesians:3:16, New International Version, emphasis added throughout).
Through the teachings of morality and revelation of the Bible, following the Head of the Church—Jesus Christ Himself—we look for renewal and transformation in that "inner man."
This is not easy. So what can happen? Here's a somber truth: Sometimes people will rationalize, allow themselves to be deluded, to achieve physical growth.
George Barna is the respected founder of The Barna Group, a market research firm that studies the religious beliefs and behavior. He recently asked pastors about their beliefs and preaching regarding the relevancy of Scripture to major issues of society. What did he find?
Here are his sad conclusions:
"What we're finding is that when we ask them about all the key issues of the day, [90 percent of them are] telling us, 'Yes, the Bible speaks to every one of these issues,'" he explained. "Then we ask them: 'Well, are you teaching your people what the Bible says about those issues?' and the numbers drop to less than 10 percent of pastors who say they will speak to it" (emphasis added).
How terrible!
Now, allow me to ask some tough questions: Do some ministers fall silent concerning sinful behavior so as not to offend potential members and limit growth plans? If so, does conflict exist between knowing what's right and not wanting to say it?
Certainly Jesus does not want harsh "spiritual sheriffs" mashing innocent sheep. God hates sin and cannot have anything to do with it, but at the same time, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John:3:16).
So certainly there is a balance in caring for people and presenting the truth with respectful loving honesty and understanding, but there is no quarter, no excuse for softening the Word of God and making it powerless simply for the sake of physical growth!
Is this not a modern 21st century replication of what the prophet Isaiah wrote about the clergy of his time? Here are his words. See if they apply today:
"His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yes, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and  they are shepherds that cannot understand : they all look to their own way,  every one for his gain , from his quarter" (Isaiah:56:10-11).
In John:8:32 Jesus Christ stated, " The truth shall make you free ." Free of what? Understood and rightly applied, biblical truth frees us of the natural penalties of living a life otherwise doomed to emptiness, despair and death! Jesus Christ came to lead us to repentance. What does that mean? It means to honestly compare yourself against biblical standards and make a conscious and action-directed decision to change to match those standards.
This is the United Church of God The United Church of God fearlessly teaches the spiritual and moral values of the Bible. The Bible enthusiastically declares that with God's help we are to be victorious, to overcome the world, not have the world overcome and muzzle us! (Revelation:2:26).
We will never compromise with sin. In all of our public proclamations we will fulfill the admonishment of Isaiah:58:1: "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression."
We stand with Paul: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans:1:16, NIV).
Where do you stand?

Mexican President says America is "the other Mexico,"

Mexican President says America is "the other Mexico,"

On Monday evening, California Governor Jerry Brown said all Mexicans, including illegal immigrants, are welcome in California.

According to the Los Angeles Times, while introducing Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, who said America is "the other Mexico," Brown "spoke about the interwoven histories of Mexico and California." He "nodded to the immigrants in the room, saying it didn't matter if they had permission to be in the United States."

"You're all welcome in California," Brown reportedly said.
Brown has made California a sanctuary state by signing the Trust Act, giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. He has also expanded financial aid to illegal immigrants by signing the California DREAM Act. Peña Nieto reportedly "thanked state officials for embracing foreigners, citing measures that extend state benefits to immigrants."

Even during the border crisis, Brown reportedly vowed "to find ways to shorten long waits at the Tijuana-San Diego international border crossing," saying, "If we can put a man on the moon, we can put a man from Mexico to California in 20 minutes."
In 2012, 28% of Californians were born outside the United States, according to The New York Times. Hispanic voters reportedly "made up 19.2% of California voters" in 2010. And according to Pew Research, Latinos make up nearly 40% of the state's population and have made California "only the second state, behind New Mexico, where whites are not the majority and Latinos are the plurality."
Even though the University of California has admitted a record number of Hispanics, the Latino Caucus has vowed to make affirmative action and bilingual education top legislative priorities.
Peña Nieto is scheduled to address the California State Legislature in Sacramento on Tuesday.

Pray for the Future of Jerusalem
The Temple Mount of Jerusalem, as seen from the Mount of Olives

Source: Mitchell Moss
The news reports of the Israel-Gaza conflict aren't pretty. Step back from geopolitics for a moment and think about the human element at play. People on both sides of the line are living in fear day to day. A mortar or missile could land on their home at any time.
Reading the reports of the violence immediately made me think of Psalm:122:6. "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem." David's simple statement holds even more meaning now than when he wrote it. Take some time out of your day and follow David's example. Get on your knees and pray to God for the peace of Jerusalem.
You won't just be praying for a city. You'll be praying for every Israeli and Palestinian man, woman and child who has to face another day of fear. You'll be praying for their safety and for their emotional wellbeing. For those people at risk right now, a prayer for Jerusalem equals a prayer for a normal life today and into the future.
Even more important than peace today is that you'll be praying for the ultimate peace to come. It can be hard to see past today's suffering, but Jerusalem has a bright future that starts when Jesus Christ returns. "I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, the Mountain of the Lord of hosts, the Holy Mountain" (Zechariah:8:3). Even Israel's current enemies will share in this peace. "In that day Egypt and Assyria will be connected by a highway. The Egyptians and Assyrians will move freely between their lands, and they will both worship God. And Israel will be their ally. The three will be together, and Israel will be a blessing to them. For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will say, 'Blessed be Egypt, my people. Blessed be Assyria, the land I have made. Blessed be Israel, my special possession!'" (Isaiah:19:23-25, New Living Translation).
Praying for peace in Jerusalem is a lot more important than just stopping today's fighting. A prayer for Jerusalem's peace equals a prayer for world peace and God's Kingdom of Peace on earth.

Douglas McAuthur McCain a/k/a “Duale TheSlaveofAllah” Dead Fighting For ISIS; Tweeted #FreeGaza, Liked NBA

By Debbie Schlussel
Another American ISIS member has embarked on his sex tourism to the 72 Helen Thomases. So sad, too bad. Oh, and by the way, while he was fighting with ISIS to extinguish Christianity, his friends from San Diego tell us that he “respected Christianity.” Uh-huh, and Jeffrey Dahmer respected humans outside of his dinner plate.
douglasmcauthurmccain

No, that’s not a typo in the headline. Douglas McAuthur McCain’s mama apparently thought McArthur was McAuthur. Or maybe that’s the male version of Shaquonda or Kanesha. Not sure. McArthur, McAuthur, what’s the difference? You White cracka-azzes and your spelling. Hey, at least they didn’t name him Abraham Linkin Park McCain. In any event, this genius son of geniuses converted to Islam and changed his name to Duale TheSlaveofAllah And he traveled to the Middle East to fight for ISIS/ISIL/The Islamic State. Now, lucky for us, he ain’t comin’ back. Buh-bye.
I’m surprised that it’s only been in the last month or so that American officials have publicly expressed much concern that Americans would go to Syria and get involved in ISIS. That’s because well over a year ago, I wrote about a Greek kid and an Asian one who left their Canadian town just a couple of hours from Detroit to fight as jihadists in North Africa. And I wrote about the American Arab Muslim from Florida with his kitten who detonated himself as a suicide bomber for ISIS. Plus I wrote about the slutty multiple-babymama Muslima convert chick from Flint, Michigan, who was also an ISIS fighter and died in jihad. And, now, there is Mr. McAuthur McCain er TheSlaveofAllah (which would be “Abdullah” in Arabic, in case you are interested).
Douglas McAuthur McCain, of San Diego, California, was killed over the weekend fighting for the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), according to the Free Syrian Army. Photos of McCain’s passport and of his body — which feature a distinctive neck tattoo — have been seen by NBC News. According to an activist linked to the Free Syrian Army who also saw the body and travel document, McCain was among three foreign jihadis fighting with ISIS who died during the battle.
That’s what we call, “a start.”
Senior administration officials told NBC News they were aware that McCain was killed in Syria, adding that they believe dozens of Americans have gone there to fight with extremist groups – including, but not limited to, ISIS. . . . NBC News has contacted several members of McCain’s family and dozens of friends – including his mother, sister, aunts and cousins. A woman who said she was McCain’s aunt confirmed that he had “passed” and referred calls to McCain’s mother.
Yeah, and you know the aunt and the mom who can’t spell knew exactly where he went and what he was doing. And you know that, as in most of Black America today, none of them were married, there was no dad or father figure, and that Islam filled that void.
McCain, 33, called himself “Duale ThaslaveofAllah” on Facebook and his Twitter bio reads: “It’s Islam over everything.” But how did this would-be rapper go from shooting hoops in a blue-collar area of Minnesota to dying in the civil war thousands of miles from home?
Um, Islam. That’s how.
Douglas McAuthur McCain was born in Illinois on Jan. 29, 1981. His family later moved to Minnesota’s Twin Cities area where he attended Robbinsdale Cooper High School in New Hope as part of the class of 1999.
Classmates at the school – which was described to NBC News as around 75 percent white and 10 percent African American – recalled an “always smiling” joker who liked to laugh and play basketball. . . . After he graduated, McCain stuck around the Twin Cities for at least a while. Public records searches show several run-ins with the law. One mugshot of a Douglas McAuthur McCain details an arrest in 2000 at the age of 19 in New Hope on charges of disorderly conduct. Another arrest record – also from New Hope – shows the same man was arrested again in 2006 and booked on charges of obstruction. The mugshot from that arrest also clearly appears to be McCain – and has the same neck tattoo that is seen in Facebook photos of McCain on his “Duale ThaslaveofAllah” account – and the body found on the Syrian battlefield. NBC News confirmed on Tuesday that he was convicted of both charges.
Around 2004, McCain “reverted” to Islam, according to his Twitter feed. McCain’s devotion to his faith was evident to many who met him on his travels, which included at least one trip to Sweden to rap – making friends and basketball buddies along the way. Several Swedes told NBC News that they met him on a visit there – between three and four years ago – when he performed in the town of Vasteras, near Stockholm and attended an underground rap show.
Kevin Törnström Kohlin remembered seeing McCain’s basketball skills on display at a game in Vasteras – and bonding over a shared love of Rick Ross and Ace Hood. . . . “We would talk just a little bit about religion,” Kohlin added. “He respected my Christianity.”
Yup, sure he did. You keep tellin’ yourself that, sucker.
At some point, McCain moved to California. His Facebook profile states that he studied at San Diego City College; it was not immediately clear if he had graduated. Until early last year, a Twitter account linked to McCain included mostly mundane messages to friends about basketball – how the Lakers suck, comments about the Chicago Bulls – with only a few messages about Allah or Islam. The most political it got appeared to be a #FreeGaza tweet on Jan 2, 2013. There was also a message posted around the same time, with an image of a woman in a burqa and the words “there is nothin like a mother love.” Then the account went silent for more than a year.
Sometime in between, McCain reportedly worked at a Somali restaurant in San Diego – African Spice – and was known around the Masjid Nur mosque, according to an acquaintance. “He was a normal guy, who was social, open-minded, like to smile always, and always wanted to be a good Muslim,” the acquaintance from the restaurant said. McCain’s online life also painted the picture of a devout Muslim who deeply loved his family – along with Pizza Hut and hip-hop.
Yeah, because ISIS and Islam are soooo normal and open-minded. Just ask the Yazidi . . . or the men who tried to work out at Fitness USA near Dearbornistan.
His likes on Facebook ranged from “Quaran and Hadith” to “The Khilafah in Universe,” “A Way to Paradise” to “Craziest Street Fights,” “The American Comedy Co.” to “The Black Flag.”
Gotta love those Hadith (which are considered the word of mohammed and just as binding on Muslims as the koran), especially the one that tells Muslims a tree will inform them that a Jew is hiding behind the tree and they are commanded to kill that Jew.
“Allah keeps me going day and night. Without Allah, I am no one,” read one photo post. Others took a darker turn – posts featured the black flag of ISIS and other militant propaganda photos. In September 2010, he posted an ominous image: “They are coming back soldiers of Allah.”
Um, how is the post about allah not dark, to the point that NBC finds it necessary to tell you that other posts “took a darker turn.”
A MySpace profile linked to Duale – and with the same images as elsewhere on social media – contains similar messages, with pictures of the sometime rapper striking poses. In one photo, he clutches a Quran. “The quran is all I need in this life of sin,” reads another caption. When McCain’s Twitter account sprung back into activity on May 13, the messages again spoke of Islam. “I reverted to Islam 10 years ago and I must say In sha Allah I will never look back the best thing that ever happen to me,” he posted. McCain – or Duale, as he had come to be known – then appeared to strike up online friendships with several self-proclaimed jihadis.
On April 3, McCain retweeted the full English translation of the speech of Abu Muhammad al-Adnani – the spokesman for ISIS. Soon after, it appears that McCain’s travels took him to Turkey, a common jihadi route into Syria. Three people told NBC News that they met McCain – who they referred to as Duale – three months ago in in the Istanbul neighborhood of Sultanahmet. Two said they met him at the Burger King, where they ate and talked about the NBA.
Yay, he loves BK and American basketball, so no way he could be a jihadi, right? Remember how they told us that Western culture makes Muslims more “understanding” of us and makes them like us? Not.
On June 9, Duale wrote to an alleged ISIS fighter on Twitter: “I will be joining you guys soon.” He also asked if another self-proclaimed ISIS fighter had made it to “r town” – an apparent reference to Raqqa, the militants’ Syrian stronghold. Then came another post: “I’m with the brothers now.” Later, he retweeted: “It takes a warrior to understand a warrior. Pray for ISIS.”
Um, he was no warrior. Just an easily duped stooge. I will pray for ISIS . . . for its end. But, sadly, George W. Bush sent American boys to die and waste limbs to hand over Iraq from Sunni Saddam Hussein-supporting Muslims who hate us to Shi’ite Muslims who hate us, all in the name of Muslim democracy. And, now, those Sunnis have ISIS to fill the void.
Ain’t the Arab Spring great?
Hey, John McCain wanted us to support the Syrian rebels, who are now dominated by ISIS. He even met with Syrian rebels who are now top officials in ISIS. So, I guess it’s only fitting that one of the descendants of his ancestors’ slaves (how else do you think this terrorist got the surname McCain) would be fighting and dying for ISIS.
See, even though he converted to Islam, he’s still doing the bidding of the master.
Aleikum As-Salam, moron.

No Justice, No Peace or Know Justcie, Know Peace
Know Justice, Know Peace

It is a difficult time for those living in and around the St. Louis Metro area. The shooting death of Mike Brown, at the hands of a police officer, has left the streets of Ferguson, MO in a state of turmoil. By day, protestors march along the streets carrying signs displaying the words, "No Justice, No Peace." When the sun goes down and night falls the protests often become riots, which result in the burning of businesses, looting, brawls, and shootings. This in turn is met by the police with smoke bombs, tear gas, and arrests.
Peace and justice is nowhere to be found on the streets of Ferguson.
I have asked myself what would bring about real change in this situation. Is there anything that would make a difference in the lives of those who are suffering and in pain?
The answer, although simple, is not one that most people want to hear.
Know Justice. Know Peace.
Only when we know God and His Son along with their righteousness and justice, can we know true peace.
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John:14:27).
Jesus Christ offers true peace to anyone who is willing to seek Him and trust in Him. He and His Father promise to walk by our side, to fight our battles, and to never leave us.
When our lives seem to be in turmoil and crisis, it can be difficult to put our trust and faith in God and accept that He knows what is best for us. However, doing so is the only way to true peace. Taking our problems to God in prayer and asking for Him to be involved every step of the way, allows us to place our out of control lives in the hands of our Creator and know that justice will prevail in His time and in His way. Only then can we know true peace.
Let us change our mindsets from "No Justice, No Peace," to "Know Justice, Know Peace." Doing so will bring about a change that is lasting and true.

Ferguson backlash: Rallies coast-to-coast for officer
Veterans, police, border agents all 'under siege' says organizer

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was gunned down in a firefight with Mexican gang members at the Arizona-Mexico border in 2010.

Americans plan to take to the streets in nearly 100 U.S. cities this weekend in support of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson as well as a U.S. Marine being held since March 31 in Mexico and the families of two slain Border Patrol agents.

William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, one of the groups organizing the rallies, said police, veterans and Border Patrol agents are “under siege” in America.

He said the mainstream media are promoting a “false narrative” regarding the teen killed while “surrendering” to police in Ferguson, Missouri, the imprisonment of U.S. Marine Andrew Tahmooressi in Mexico and the killing of border agents Brian Terry and Javier Vega Jr.

Officer Darren Wilson

Gheen charged “widespread defamation and abuse” against the men by a biased media and politicians.

Tahmooressi, 26, was jailed by the Mexican government in late March after inadvertently driving across the border with his personal guns in his car. He claimed he was detained for eight hours without charge and denied access to an interpreter.

Vega Jr. was gunned down by illegal aliens while off duty and fishing with his family in Willacy County, Texas.

Terry was shot and killed in 2010 during a firefight at the Arizona-Mexico border. A Mexican man later pleaded guilty to the shooting in a case tied to the Obama administration’s Fast and Furious gun-running scandal.

“People need to understand why border agents Terry and Vega are dead, why Andrew Tahmooressi is being abused in a Mexican jail and why police officer Darren Wilson is in hiding,” said Gheen, who is organizing the rallies with James Neighbors of Overpasses for America.

“When the Mexican government treats our veterans like prisoners of war, there is no louder wake-up call for how Mexico perceives us. Both Obama and Mexico would like to persecute anyone who would resist unconstitutional orders and tyranny.”

The rallies are scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29 and 30.

Within five hours of announcing the plan Monday, the two groups – Americans for Legal Immigration PAC and Overpasses for America – already had 96 communities respond, said Gheen. (See list below of participating communities with locations and rally times or click here.)

“We’re growing very rapidly right now, and we need it to continue leading up to this weekend,” Gheen said. “We want people to understand that the abuses that are directed at Officer Darren Wilson right now are part of a broader national effort involving D.C. insiders and the Obama administration, and manipulators in the American mainstream media that are persecuting our veterans, Border Patrol officers and police officers, most of whom fully support the U.S. Constitution.”

U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi

He said those stirring the pot of racial division have an ugly agenda.

“The people who are doing this want to replace America’s constitutional governance with a leftist mob rule that is more focused on socialism and social justice,” Gheen said. “They do not support the American concept of equal justice for all. They want street justice, and a lot of the action in Ferguson is based on racism against the white officers. Most Americans feel like fighting racism should be a two-way street while most of those leading the activism in Ferguson believe it should be a one-way street.”

Gheen said the beatings of two white military veterans in West Point, Mississippi, on Saturday is an example of how hatred stirred by Ferguson is prompting black-on-white violence. The backlash, he said, is being ignored in the national media.

“The abuses of the truth and ethics that we’re seeing by liberal politicians and the mainstream media are exacting a price for our citizens and that price is spilled blood,” he said. “Deaths and injuries all across America, where Caucasian Americans are being retaliated against. Because the media suppresses the largest and most frequent kinds of attacks while fostering the false narrative that what’s wrong with America is evil white male racists with guns hunting down minorities and executing them in the streets.”

Gheen said the rallies Friday and Saturday are open only to “racially inclusive” groups and activists.

“We want to make that very clear,” he said. “This is a racially inclusive effort.”

He said beatings such as the one in Mississippi occur when minorities believe the warped messages they are getting from media.

Gheen said his organization is concerned that many police are militarizing and taking on the “warrior cop” mentality, but he believes it’s important to support the majority who still work within the bounds of the Constitution.

“But what we want to do this weekend is educate people on how our Constitution-abiding officers, vets and Border Patrol, and American activists that would defend this nation,” he said. “We support our non-militarized police officers.

“The largest police force in this country is still the county sheriffs. And the militarization of the police is … a set up to turn people against the police.”

Gheen said when he looks at the situations in Ferguson, in Mexico and with military veterans, he sees a common thread.

“In each place we have a victim of this socialism gone amok,” he said. “So we’ve got the Marine who’s being held prisoner in Mexico because he accidentally drove across the border with legal American guns in his vehicle. We have officer Darren Wilson whose life is under threat because the Justice Department is going after the officer instead of the [New] Black Panthers who are holding rallies trying to stir people up to murder him. Then we have Border Patrol agents under siege.

“Our veterans are killing themselves at a rate of 27 per day, and nobody is saying anything about it,” he continued. “All three are responsible for the defense of America, and they are all three under attack from within.”
