Weekend Box Office: Hall Pass, Drive Angry 3D

Here is an interesting article from http://www.debbieschlussel.com/  reviewing some of the movies that came out over the past weekend. This follows this post some of the movies from last week and  THIS POST about some movies that have been released over the past few years that you might have missed!  This all  follows this post about guidelines to chosing good movies to watch yourself!

Weekend Box Office: Hall Pass, Drive Angry 3D

By Debbie Schlussel

Utter, complete garbage at the movies, this weekend. Neither of the new releases is worth your $10 or two hours of life you’ll have wasted. Both movies are vulgar, vile, and disgusting, and you don’t need to be a prude to get that. This weekend, movie theaters across America are officially the nation of Dreck-istan.

* “Hall Pass“: Two words: Joy Behar. Anything that has her in it should be enough to keep you far, far away (even if she’s only in a few scenes). I liked this better the first time I saw it . . . when it was called, “Divorce American Style.” The premise of this movie could have been interesting, if it didn’t devolve into a disgusting, raunchy piece of utter garbage, with few jokes worth laughing at. Oh, and did I really need repeat close-up shots of two penises in my face on the screen? The point of the Squirrely, er . . . Farrelly Brothers in doing this is to let you know that Black men have large penises and White Irish men have tiny ones. Thanks for the tip, racists.

As usual, there’s a strong tie between purveying garbage and purveying liberalism. Director/writer Peter Farrelly gave tens of thousands of dollars to the Democratic Party and the campaigns of Barack Obama, John Kerry, Al Franken, Wesley Clark, the Clintons, many other liberal candidates, and the National Democratic Senatorial and Congressional Campaign Committees. Figures. Only liberals are allowed to make racist, sexist crap like this and be celebrated for it.

The “plot” of this celluloid cesspool: two middle-aged, married, geeky husbands (Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis) in suburban Providence repeatedly check out younger, sexier women and wish they could have sex with them. Their wives (Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer) get fed up and, on the advice of psychiatrist Joy Behar, give their husbands a “hall pass,” a week off from marriage to do whatever they want and sleep with whomever they want. The theory is that these middle-aged geeks will not be able to get what they think they could have if they were not “shackled” to their wives and families. As always in sexist, anti-male Hollywood fare like this, men are portrayed as sex-obsessed dolts and morons. But the women are civilized geniuses.

Chock full of melodrama, crying, screaming, and other stuff I didn’t need or want at what is supposed to be an escapist movie, this piece of crap is literally filled with crap. The jokes include four men eating too many marijuana-laced brownies and one of them defecating in the sand trap on the golf course. To remove any doubt, the Farrelly Bros show you the guy’s naked butt squatting, and a pile of fecal material underneath him. Haha, funny. In another scene, a woman splatters fecal material all over a bathroom wall. Hilarious . . . if you’re an imbecile. And then there are the penis close-ups and topless women. When weak filmmakers rely on that–filth and dung–for laughs, do I really need to tell you that this is a truly sh—y movie? Fifteen years ago, this would have been rated NC-17, at the very least.

While there were a few cheap laughs, I mostly sat in stone cold silence as the many morons at the screening laughed like crazy. This is one of those increasing number of cases where snobbery and elitism are highly under-rated. “Hall Pass” is a combined national IQ and taste test for America. If you like it, you failed–you have no class. And even less intellect. And it confirms your membership in the very simple and easy to please masses. That’s why I predict it will be a blockbuster hit at the box office, this weekend.

There’s no accounting for good taste in America. It’s as rare as these crappy movies are common. Have fun in the sewer, America. Great nations never last under the weight of all this fecal material.

FOUR MARXES PLUS AN OBAMA PLUS A BIN LADEN

* “Drive Angry 3D“: Absolutely horrible and gratuitously violent to the max, not to mention extremely long and boring. Trailers for this movie present it as something like “Taken.” Don’t believe the hype. This movie is nothing like “Taken,” which was terrific (read my review). Instead, it’s nearly two hours of torture-porn and killing-porn, plus many gratuitous shots of naked women running around and having sex in semi-core porn scenes. And the “plot”–if you can call it that–is incredibly dumb. No surprise, as this movie was written by Todd Farmer, a Hollywood writer/actor who never grew up and is obviously in the middle of a mid-life crisis. Or, maybe, he’s just led an entire life of utter low-class pride in screenwriting complete trash like “Jason X,” “My Bloody Valentine,” “Halloween III,” and “Hellraiser.” He also co-stars and–shocker–puts himself in one of the sex scenes.

Nicolas Cage plays a father who has returned to earth from hell to find the cult leader who murdered his daughter and to reclaim his kidnapped granddaughter. All the while he is being pursued by a man with magical powers, called “The Accountant.” Cage drives across the southern East Coast together with a beautiful waitress (Amber Heard, who does a very lousy Southern accent). Together they have sex with and kill multiple people, with graphic dismemberment and body parts flying at you in 3D. Charming. It’s clear that Nicolas Cage did this movie to pay his giant IRS bill. Or maybe he really thinks it’s fun to play a bad-ass while serving up complete junk to America. And just like, “Hall Pass,” above, this movie would have been at least NC-17, not long ago.

Like I said, the movie is absolutely disgusting, vile, filthy, graphic, and just flat-out sleazy. While there are a few brief cool uses of 3D, that’s irrelevant to this utter and complete garbage. A complete bucket o’ feces. And that’s being generous.

What's Next for Oil-Rich Libya?

An interesting article from www.ucg.org/commentary about Libya in prophecy. This follows this post about America's rise in the Holy Bible.  For a free magazine subscription or to get this book for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886-8632.

What's Next for Oil-Rich Libya?

A commentary by Mike Bennett

UCG editorial content manager
For Libya, the oil-rich North African dictatorship between Tunisia and Egypt, it was only a matter of time before the unrest in the Arab world ignited antigovernment protests. Colonel Muammar Gadhafi has ruled the country with an iron hand since he overthrew King Idris in 1969.

Fight, not flight?

After nearly a week of protests and reports of hundreds being killed, some by government fighter jets, speculation broke out that Gadhafi was fleeing to Venezuela. But he appeared on television Feb. 22 to debunk that rumor.

The Telegraph reported Gadhafi's fighting words: "I will fight to the last drop of my blood. The Libyan people are with me... I'm not going to leave this land. I am going to die here and die here as a martyr."

Protesters seem equally adamant. Ali Zeidan, a senior member of the Libyan League of Human Rights, told The Guardian: "Libyans used to be afraid. But after they saw the blood, they aren't afraid anymore, they are angry."

That anger was partly fueled by the prediction by Gadhafi's son Saif of "rivers of blood" if protesters did not back down.

"Everybody knows somebody who has been killed or injured, everyone is very angry. What Gaddafi's son said made people furious... Now they feel no fear, if there are deaths people accept that we must carry on. Protesters will go to the centre again today and keep demonstrating until the job is done," Ali Zeidan said.

The protesters received support in the form of a fatwa against Gadhafi. New York magazine reported: "An influential Muslim cleric named Yusuf al-Qaradawi issued a fatwa yesterday through Al Jazeera saying, 'Whoever in the Libyan army is able to shoot a bullet at Mr. Qaddafi should do so.' Qaradawi, the spiritual leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, also urged Libyan soldiers 'not to obey orders to strike at your own people,' and urged Libyan ambassadors to disassociate themselves from Qaddafi."

Worldwide impact

Beyond the human cost, other nations are fearful of the impact on the fragile world economy. New York magazine also reported: "Libya, Africa's third-largest oil producer, pumps out around 1.6 million barrels of oil per day and is responsible for roughly 2 percent of global demand. Oil prices rose 9 percent in one day as analysts anxiously monitored the situation. If unrest spreads beyond Libya to other oil-rich countries, industry experts warn that gas prices could hit $5 a gallon by peak summer driving season."

With Gadhafi's days numbered, what will be next for Libya? How will it affect the rest of the world?

Libya in Bible prophecy

The Middle East plays a major role in end-time events leading to the return of Jesus Christ. Libya is mentioned in connection with the conflict between a Middle Eastern power and a European power. Consider these excerpts from our booklet The Middle East in Bible Prophecy:

"Returning to Daniel 11:40, we see that the forces of these two end-time leaders, the kings of the North and South, will clash: 'At the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over' (King James Version).

"The word 'push' is translated from the Hebrew word nagach, which can mean either 'to push' or 'to attack.' It is used of a bull or ram attacking with its horns. Figuratively, this means 'to war against.' The form this 'push' or 'attack' may take isn't spelled out.

"What is evident, however, is that this end-time leader from the south will attack the north in such a way as to warrant a major military invasion of the Middle East. Considering the ways Islamic extremists have attacked the Western powers in recent years, something like a series of major terror attacks against European targets could be the 'push' referred to here. From this point on the king of the South is no longer specifically mentioned in Scripture. What happens to him isn't spelled out.

"The same chapter shows that the king of the North, the European-centered Beast power, will be the victor, as he invades the Holy Land and overthrows 'many countries' (verse 41). Among them are Egypt and the Libyans and Ethiopians (understand that these biblical names for peoples and places may not be precisely identical with today's national borders, although the regions are certainly the same.)"

You need to understand the framework for these prophecies, and the solution to these worldwide calamities. Read or download The Middle East in Bible Prophecy now, and learn more about God's plan for the Middle East and for you.

Protecting classrooms in Texas‏

A very interesting post from http://www.empowertexas.com/ about the state's budget battle centering on schools. This follows this post about the Tea Party Patriots summit in Phoenix today and this article about  the recent news about ending the ban on offshore drilling which would encourage American energy independence This is a key issue to prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran  and Venezuela. For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and you can read a very interesting book HERE!

Protecting classrooms in Texas‏

Texas voters clearly expect the legislature to balance the budget without raising taxes, which means responsible spending cuts and prioritization.

Protect The Classroom

But right now, public education bureaucrats are attempting to scare legislators, parents and teachers by threatening the classroom with big cuts.

You’ve probably seen the “shock” headlines about teachers being fired. Superintendents and school board members are essentially saying that they will start the cutting by letting teachers go.

That's irresponsible and reprehensible; the classroom must be protected. Public education exists to educate kids, not employee bureaucrats.

Right now teachers make up barely half the school employees as it is. That’s right: half of all public school employees are not teachers. And, as it happens, half of every public education dollar is spent outside the classroom.

Learn more at our new website, http://www.protecttheclassroom.com/. From there, tell your state legislators to stand firm on cutting the budget and let them know real education savings can be found outside the classroom!

Dr. Z’s Bad Medicine

Meanwhile, some bad budget medicine is being prescribed by State Rep. John Zerwas. The Republican physician spent Wednesday passing out the “use the rainy day fund” pills pushed by the AFL-CIO and other liberals wanting to keep government growing.

Dr. Zerwas says it will “dull the edge” of the budget process. Dull it? Dr. Zerwas said he would spend nearly all of the money -- that's more like an overdose of irresponsibility!

Sorry, Dr. Z., but taxpayers are demanding responsible solutions, not fiscal narcotics, from the Republican supermajority. We want seriously considered budget reductions, not liberal pablum.

That’s why Gov. Rick Perry and most other conservative leaders have said the state’s piggy bank shouldn’t be cracked to pay for recurring spending.

Get Going!

Public employee unions and others are at the Capitol day in and day out, telling legislators to “raise taxes.” It’s an onslaught.

Government goes to those who show up – your voice is needed now more than ever!

For Texas,

Michael Quinn Sullivan

Dropping in on the Tea Party Patriot Summit in Phoenix

A very interesting post from www.hughhewitt.com about the Tea Party Patriots summit in Phoenix today. This follows this post about the D.C. Republicans on the Continuing Resolution on the Budget and Wisconsin's governor fighting for his state budget and this article about  the recent news about ending the ban on offshore drilling which would encourage American energy independence This is a key issue to prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran  and Venezuela. For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and you can read a very interesting book HERE!

Dropping in on the Tea Party Patriot Summit in Phoenix

Today I am broadcasting from the Phoenix Convention Center and the first gathering of the Tea Party Patriots (http://www.teapartypatriots.org/ ) since November 2’s sweeping wins and since the new Congress convened in January.

“Remote” broadcasts are not a favorite of mine, and even the national conventions-- which the radio audience especially loves-- are organized chaos for the technical side of the broadcast. Most remotes have a thousand things go wrong that drive the engineers crazy, and guests can be less than prompt. But the energy is always high and the background noise adds some wonderful color to the program.

Today’s broadcast will be more than entertaining, though, and I especially hope the sharpies inside the Beltway and the members of Congress back in their districts get a chance to listen. (My D.C. affiliate is 1260 AM WRC, which provides an excellent online listening station if you are away from the car.) The Tea Party Patriots are authentically grassroots, and their founders, Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin are genuine old school leaders who resist trying to do anything except coordinate the sprawling network of chapters and who reject the idea that the movement can be told what to do or whom to support. They call themselves coordinators, and while they will offer their own opinions on various issues, they won’t tell you what the Tea Party Patriots are thinking as a whole.

For a sense of that, you have to go to Phoenix, so we are. From top to bottom of the show today my producer Duane will be gathering activists to ask them whether the Congressional GOP has gone far enough in cutting spending, whether Scott Walker is doing the right thing in Wisconsin, and whom they support on the GOP side in 2012 –if anyone. Tim Pawlenty and Herman Cain are definitely on the program in Phoenix this weekend, though I am not sure who else will be there. I don’t think any member of the House GOP leadership is slated to appear, which tells me the communications arm of the caucus is still struggling to figure out that the Meet the Press audience is not their key demographic while the Tea Party Patriots are.

I will be talking with some of the key coalition builders and message managers. The folks from http://www.healthcarecompact.org/ will be there and on my show. I will also talk with Bruce Cook with http://www.onecentsolution.org/ and of course as many Tea Party attendees as possible. As opposed to Beltway bigs telling the Tea Party netroots what they ought to be saying and thinking, this is an exercise in asking the people who drove November 2 for a mid-semester grade on the new GOP majority.

To his great credit, GOP Chair Reince Priebus will be back on the program for the second week in a row, asking callers and in this case convention goers what they expect the RNC to be doing. Priebus has already grasped that the vast network of new groups and new leadership wasn’t a passing phenomenon of 2010, but that a new conservative infrastructure of groups like TPP as well as AMAC, the Center for America and many more have allied themselves with each other and are willing to help the Congressional delegation for so long as that delegation is moving decisively towards the reform of the Obama-bloated bureaucracy and the federal budget.

So technical problems and background noise aside, today’s broadcast will be one that all the GOP consultants should be listening to, and not just listening to, but hearing and responding to. The Tea Party patriots are far from the only constituency that matters. I believe in the old Reagan three legged-stool, and the gatherings of the social conservatives and the national security-minded will matter a great deal as well.

But on matters fiscal, this is the group for which the sale must be closed and the credibility of the GOP established and nurtured. It has been a rocky start. How rocky we will see and hear later today.

Illegals March on Texas: ALIPAC Deploys Behind Americans‏

An interesting post from www.Alipac.US about illegal aliens in Texas. This follows this previous post  about the Voter I.D. law in Texas and this post which shows that there are 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso. Illegals March on Texas: ALIPAC Deploys Behind Americans‏

Friends of ALIPAC,

We need an immediate national response to aid our American supporters on the ground in Texas, as thousands of illegal aliens and their supporters converge on the state Capitol in Austin!

Big money is behind these marches, and the illegals are being bused in and provided with flags and signs. They are chanting things like "We won't stand for this type of legislation" and "No Arizona Hate in Texas."

Background articles

Austin, TX - Illegal Alien Marches culminate in rally at Capitol

http://www.alipac.us/article-6103-thread-1-0.html

PLEASE HELP ALIPAC's NATIONAL DEPLOYMENT TO TEXAS

When a mob of illegal aliens swarmed the legislature in Georgia trying to derail our legislation, ALIPAC responded quickly and our bills passed.

When another mob gathered in Arizona last year and national organizations that support Amnesty tried to stop our bills, ALIPAC responded and we won.

Now, it is time for us to defend the work of the pro American legislators in Texas.

We need ALIPAC supporters in EVERY state to assist Texans today by following these simple steps.

1. Craft your own personalized version of our sample message below.

"I'm calling/writing today to ask Texas lawmakers to support American workers, students, taxpayers, and voters who are being harmed and victimized by illegal immigration. Texans are being displaced and replaced in their jobs, classroom seats, and elections by illegal aliens that should not be in our country. Please crack down on sanctuary cities and pass a stronger version of Arizona's historic law in 2011. Please stand with Americans against the illegal immigrants protesting in Austin."

2. Pick up your phone and use the contact links below to start calling as many members of the Texas legislature as possible. Calls coming in from ALIPAC supporters on the ground in Texas, combined with calls coming in from many other states can have a big impact!

Texas Legislature Contact Links....

STATE HOUSE: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/Members/Members.aspx?Chamber=H

STATE SENATE: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/Members/Members.aspx?Chamber=S

3. Follow up your distinct and personalized message to each lawmaker with a written version sent by email, fax, or letter. Remember that calls followed by written copies are the most effective way to influence lawmakers short of face-to-face meetings.

If you would like to review ALIPAC's collection of bills filed in Texas this year to see which ones you favor the most, please visit our tracking link for Texas at this link...

http://www.alipac.us/ftopict-225029.html

Texas is where ALIPAC's second largest support and volunteer bases reside. When we have needed volunteers and donors to help other states, Texans have brought that support.

Now it is our turn to help our folks in Texas as illegal aliens and their supporters march on our Capitol trying to stop our bills!

Let's roll!

"NO AMNESTY - NO EXCUSES - NO SURRENDER"

URGENT PHOTO VOTER ID HEARING TUESDAY, MARCH 1

COMMITTEE: Voter Identification & Voter Fraud, Select

TIME & DATE: 8:00 AM, Tuesday, March 01, 2011

PLACE: JHR 140 CHAIR: Rep. Dennis Bonnen

Rep. Dennis Bonnen issued a press release this afternoon announcing that the Photo Voter ID Bill (SB 14) will be heard in committee Tuesday, March 1st. According to the press release, "testimony on both sides of this critical issue will be given full consideration during the hearing."

Senate Bill 14 in its pure form is a true Photo Voter ID. Of the nine amendments added to the bill, two of these offered by Republicans substantially weaken the bill. Amendment F-35 added by Sen. Dan Patrick, WOULD ALLOW ANYONE WITH A HANDICAP PARKING PERMIT AN EXEMPTION FROM PRESENTING A PHOTO ID. In Harris County alone, over 480,000 permits exist. This is clearly a black hole which would encourage additional fraud.

Amendment F-40 by Sen. Robert Duncan allows exemptions for indigent persons to go to their voter registration office and claim they are not able TO TRAVEL TO A DEPT. OF PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICE TO OBTAIN A PHOTO VOTER ID AND THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY ADDED TO THE VOTER ROLLS. This amendment also gives AN EXEMPTION TO INDIVIDUALS WHO CLAIM THAT HAVING THEIR PICTURE TAKEN IS AGAINST THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.

Call the Members of the Select Committee on Voter ID and Voter Fraud and urge them to

SUPPORT SENATE BILL 14 IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM

STRIP ALL AMENDMENTS FROM THE BILL. THESE AMENDMENTS SUBSTANTIALLY WEAKEN THE BILL.

As always, please be respectful when you call.

Memo From Middle America (Formerly Known As Memo From Mexico)

An interesting post from http://www.vdare.com/

Memo From Middle America (Formerly Known As Memo From Mexico),
By
Allan Wall
Now We're All On "Mexican Radio"—And It's Not A Harmless Novelty
In the days of my youth in Oklahoma, I learned that, at night, a radio would pick up more AM stations, often from quite far away. (There's a scientific reason for that). Among the distant stations I would hear were some from Mexico.
How exotic it was to hear such broadcasts in a foreign tongue from a faraway place. Not knowing Spanish, however, I couldn't understand what they were saying!
That's why, some years later, I could relate to a quirky and catchy 1983 hit called "Mexican Radio", by one-hit wonder band Wall of Voodoo. You can watch the video here (and even listen as you read this article!)
Here are some excerpts from the lyrics :
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
And the touch of a world that is older
I turn the switch and check the number
I leave it on when in bed I slumber ….
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand just what does he say?
I'm on a Mexican radio
I'm on a Mexican whoa-oh radio….
I understand just a little
No comprende, it's a riddle
[And my favorite line…]
I wish I was in Tijuana
Eating barbequed iguana …
I'm on a Mexican radio
I'm on a Mexican whoa-oh radio
I'm on a Mexican radio
I'm on a Mexican whoa-oh radio
Very clever song, yes? It was a novelty, because, even as recently as 1983, Mexico was still a faraway land and a novelty for most Americans.
In 2011, however, it's not so exotic anymore. We're being invaded by Mexico.
It's no longer necessary to pick up the signal from a distant Mexican radio station in order to listen to Spanish. There are now over 800 Spanish-language stations in the United States.
They aren't all in the Southwest or even border regions. For example, there is KRDM in Redmond, Oregon, WBQH in Silver Spring, Maryland, KSEC in Bentonville, Arkansas, and WACM in West Springfield, Massachusetts, etc.
Maybe it's more correct to say that now the border is everywhere.
Look at my home state of Oklahoma. Traditionally, it has had almost no Mexican influence. It's famous for its Indian tribes. It has more American Indians (including VDARE.com contributor David Yeagley) than any other state. This has given Indians a certain prestige and influence, and it's part of the state's identity.
But guess what? It's recently been announced that American Indians are now outnumbered by Hispanics in the state of Oklahoma—Hispanics Now Outnumber Native Americans in Oklahoma, Associated Press, Feb. 15, 2011.
And this Hispanic growth in Oklahoma is reflected in the state's radio stations. Take for example a station I listened to as a kid—the venerable old AM station WKY. It's Oklahoma's oldest radio station and the first radio station west of the Mississippi. But WKY is now a Spanish-language station.
This change was publicly lamented by a prominent Oklahoma newsman, Anchorman Kelly Ogle of KWTV News Nine. Ogle spoke of the changeover on his "My Two Cents" commentary. Ogle said:
"I'm deeply saddened by the demise of an Oklahoma Legend that has played an important part in my family for nearly 50 years.
"WKY Radio signed on in 1922, but now the first station west of the Mississippi, has gone south of the border. The station recently dropped its talk format and is now simulcasting a Spanish Language station.
"It may make more sense on the bottom line, but it seems strange to longtime Oklahoma residents. E.K. Gaylord bought WKY in the '20s and into the '70s, it was THE station. Walter Cronkite and Curt Gowdy were on WKY early on. My dad did the news and OU football at WKY in the '60s and '70s, me and my brother both anchored there.
"But starting in the '70s you couldn't win with music on the AM dial so WKY underwent a series of facelifts... So now it's gone Spanish. Will it work? I don't know, can't blame them for trying, being nostalgic doesn't pay the bills.
"But in my mind this marks the end of a radio era in Oklahoma City, and maybe the beginning of another. I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents."
(Ogle made these comments in 2006 when WKY originally went Spanish. In 2007 it switched back to English until 2009 when it went Spanish again, making his comments just as appropriate. )
In 2011, the news is out about two Tulsa stations switching to Spanish:
"Radio Personalities Help Bring Half-Million to LA Rally
Radio Ink Magazine, March 2006

Don Imus, Dennis Miller, Lou Dobbs and OSU sports will be looking for new homes on Tulsa's radio dials as two AM stations change to Spanish-language formats.
Gaytan Broadcasting LLC, a Tulsa company that owns Que Buena KXTD (1530 AM), purchased KLZI (1570 AM) and KRVT (1270 AM) from Reunion Broadcasting this week.
"There's a sizable Hispanic Tulsa community, and its only going to get bigger with or without immigration reform," said Allen McLaughlin, operations manager and general sales manager for Gaytan Broadcasting…The purchase gives the Tulsa area five Spanish-language radio stations, up from three before the deal.
"People who speak Spanish at home make up about 7.5 percent of Tulsa County's population, or 40,393 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey…"
(Gaytan Broadcasting Adds Two Radio Stations to Spanish-Language Fold, by Kyle Arnold, Tulsa World, January 27, 2011)
A few big companies own a lot of these Spanish stations. The Spanish Broadcasting System owns 10, Clear Channel owns 18, Liberman Broadcasting owns 21 and Entravision has 48. The largest group: the 70 stations belonging to Univision. In fact, Univision's radio division is the eighth biggest radio company in the U.S.
So what? Are a few Spanish-language stations a big deal?
My answer: yes. Sure, if we didn't have a rapidly-growing and increasingly assertive Mexican immigrant population, and a government that subverts our sovereignty, a few Spanish-language radio stations would be no cause for alarm.
Which means that, under the present situation, there is indeed cause for alarm.
The Spanish-language stations are helping to impede assimilation. And they operate in a different world—socially, linguistically and culturally—than English-language broadcasting.
In previous articles, I have written about anti-American music that is played on Spanish language stations—Somos Mas Americanos by Tigres del Norte and Frijolero by Molotov. Your neighbors may be listening to such music.
The growth of Spanish language stations also encourages companies to advertise on them and gives them a vested interest in promoting "bilingualism" i.e. Spanish language retention. Spanish-language advertising has become a campaign staple for both political parties, urged on by self-promoting Spanish-speaking political consultants. As I pointed out during the 2002 Texas gubernatorial campaign, what a candidate says on a Spanish station can be very different than what he tells the gringos on an English station.
In short, we are allowing the growth of a Fifth Column culture on the airwaves which, in the end may well displace our own. And it's happening right under our noses.
A case in point: Eddie "Piolin" Sotelo. Mexican-born Sotelo entered this country as an illegal alien and now hosts a popular radio show on LA's KSCA and over 100 (!) other Spanish radio stations.
Piolin, who isn't even a U.S. citizen, did much to promote the LA illegal alien amnesty rally in 2006, which drew half a million protestors to demand that we reward foreign lawbreakers, or else.
Here's how it was summarized by Radio Ink:
"As reported by the Los Angeles Times, last weekend's pro-immigrant rally in downtown Los
Angeles was expected to draw fewer than 20,000, but that number was dwarfed as police estimated the number of participants at 500,000, making it one of the largest demonstrations in Los Angeles' history. Why the huge increase in attendance? Deejays made the difference.

"Los Angeles radio personality Eddie "El Piolin" Sotelo called for a summit with fellow Spanish language broadcasters including KHJ's Humberto Luna, KBUE's Ricardo "El Mandril" Sanchez and Renan "El Cucuy" Almendarez Coello. Together, they got the word out.
"Mike Garcia, president of Local 1877 of the Service Employees International Union, said, 'If you listened to Spanish-language media, they were just pumping, pumping, pumping this up.'
"Soleto got interested after rally organizers told him about the ramifications of the legislation passed by Congress last year. The bill would make undocumented immigrants and those who assist them felons and erect a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.
"'I told God that if he gave me an opportunity as a radio announcer, I was going to help my people [AW comment:
n.b. my people—not the American people],' said Sotelo, who himself illegally crossed the border in 1986. Soleto added, 'I think we have to make sure the message went through to Washington, to let them know we're not criminals.' "

If we lived in a country that protected its sovereignty—say, for example, Mexico—Piolin would have been deported forthwith. But in today's America, Piolin can openly agitate against our law. The guy even had the honor of interviewing the president of the United States (in English), who told Piolin that Hispanics need to vote in order to "punish our enemies".
Interestingly, A History of Spanish Language Radio in the United States
(pages 6 and 7) relates the story of
Pedro Gonzalez, the host of a Spanish-language program on KELW in Burbank, California, from 1927 to 1934. When the Depression began, the U.S. government began a series of massive deportations, which drove Gonzalez to start practicing some "community organizing" on the radio.
Gonzalez was arrested for rape in 1934, jailed until 1940 when he was  released and deported to Mexico, after his accuser recanted. His supporters of course claimed that he had been framed for political reasons—which at least might suggest that, back in the 1930s, American authorities took subversion seriously. He was eventually allowed to return, and died in the United States in 1995, aged 99, and his descendents are still here.[ Pedro J. Gonzalez, 99, Folk Hero And Advocate for Social Justice, New York Times, March 24, 1995]
Nowadays, though, the Hispanic population in the U.S. dwarfs that of the Gonzalez era. And the open agitation of Piolin and others dwarfs the political activities of Pedro Gonzalez. Just imagine what these broadcasters could do with more coordination, on a national scale. They could warn about upcoming raids by immigration authorities. They could organize and publicize mass rallies and strikes. They could even direct listeners to harass en masse legislators and opinion-makers.
And all of it could be done right under the noses of unsuspecting English-speaking Americans. You can be right next door—or in the same building—and have no idea what is afoot.
Of course, the tools to stop this are at hand. The Federal Communications Commission would shut down white supremacist radio overnight. Why not Mexican revanchist radio?
It's not 1983 anymore. Now we're all on "Mexican Radio". And it's more than a harmless novelty.

You can find this fax by proceeding to

http://www.numbersusa.com/faxes?ID=12735

You are receiving this special fax opportunity because you indicated on your interests survey that you believe "unfair job competition / wage depression" increases immigration numbers.

Eli Lilly, a major pharmaceuticals company headquartered in Indianapolis, had the following to say about SB 590, piece of legislation in Indiana that would require employers to use E-Verify and make it difficult for illegal aliens to continue to take Indiana jobs:

Our ability to thrive in Indiana is dependent on an environment that is welcoming, and that is now threatened.... Anti-immigration and English-only legislation make it difficult to recruit new and educated workers and retain current employees in our Indiana communities, who simply will not move to and live in a state that is seen as unwelcoming

However, the bill's sponsor, Indiana State Sen. Mike Delph, said the following:

Those businesses that violate the law and benefit from cheap labor need to stop it, or we're going to come after them.... I don't understand why a state that enforces the rule of law is going to hurt legitimate business interests.

Please send a fax to Eli Lilly and let the company know you do not appreciate the way they are opposing the rule of law and standing on the side of illegal aliens.

Two Battleground States Need Your Help Today‏

Two Battleground States Need Your Help Today‏

Friends of ALIPAC,

Illegal alien supporters have stalled our legislation in New Mexico and Virginia where Democratic lawmakers have defeated some of our bills!

Please remember that we need all of you taking initiative. While reports from lawmakers indicate that people on our side are contacting them, WE DO NOT HAVE THE ACTIVITY LEVEL WE NEED FOR VICTORY IN 2011.

You can change that by taking action on your own here in our Battle of the States 2011 section at this link...

PLEASE TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION IN UTAH AND INDIANA TODAY!

Step 1: Utah Moves Against In-State Tuition for Illegals!

Get on the phones to support the Utah Legislation. An important bill (HB191) that reverses Utah's current policy of offering taxpayer subsidized in state tuition to illegal aliens is headed for the house floor.

While ALIPAC has helped defeat in state tuition for illegals in almost 20 states, this would be the first state where we reversed the policy.

Call/write the Utah State House representatives with your own polite version of this message.

"Please support and pass HB 191 to end Utah's policy of giving illegal immigrants in state tuition breaks. In state tuition for illegal aliens encourages more illegal immigration and forces Utah taxpayers to replace innocent American students in those limited seats in college. This is why most states and most voters have rejected this policy."

STEP 2: Utah's version of Arizona's SB 1070!

A bill that is an improved version of Arizona's illegal immigration crackdown bill has just passed the Utah House and is headed for the state senate.

Please deliver your own version of our sample message via calls and emails.

"Please support and pass HB70 in the Utah Senate. It is time to end Utah's reputation as an illegal alien sanctuary and license state and to protect Utah's workers, students, taxpayers, and voters from the negative effects of illegal immigration. We need local police enforcing immigration laws which is supported by a vast majority of American citizens. I hope that you will stand up for American citizens as Arizona has done by passing HB70 without any guest worker amnesty provisions in it."

STEP 3:

Sen. Mike Delph's bill to crackdown on illegal immigration in Indiana (Senate Bill 590) is encountering massive resistance by illegal alien supporters!

The good news is that our team has gotten the bill through committee and it is headed to the floor. Time for ALIPACers to light up the phones in both houses in Indiana with the following messages...

"I'm calling/writing to ask you to please support and pass Senator Delph's SB 590 legislation to crack down on illegal immigration in Indiana. Illegal aliens are draining millions of tax dollars and we need you to vote yes on SB 590 to protect American workers, students, taxpayers, and voters from the negative impact of illegal immigration."

Special Notice

Right now we do not have the level of response from our activists needed for victory in 2011 and we need your help to change that immediately. Many of our folks are working very hard and they need your help!

The wins and losses coming in are about even at this moment but soon either our side or the illegal alien side will have the advantage depending how these votes in the states go!

The illegal aliens and their supporters are highly energized, organized, and funded. They are in the halls and on the phones fighting against your interests today.

Wins for our side in Utah and Indiana could throw the momentum our way. If the illegal aliens stop our legislation in a few more states then they could gain the upper hand for 2011.

We need ALIPAC supporters from all states to converge with great activism in Utah and Indiana to support our friends on the ground in those critical battleground states.

Our activists stand ready to assist you, encourage you, advise you, and receive your questions and reports at this activism link...
