Editorial: Ben Carson as the Establisment's Alternative?

Editorial

There was an interesting article about the establishment GOP using Ben Carson as their candidate. He is not as strong as Donald Trump on immigration enforcement.

You can read the article here:

http://www.vdare.com/posts/establishment-trying-ben-carsons-magic-negro-charisma-to-overshadow-trump

The MSM is helping Conservatism Inc in playing the “Magic Negro” card – exploiting the childish if honorable fantasy amongst the electorate that somewhere out there is a Black Savior. This infantilism has already given the GOP the Herman Cain, Michael Steele and Colin Powell fiascos.

On Saturday morning I saw two items on Real Clear Politics: Ben Carson, the GOP’s Long Shot by Ian Tuttle National Review August 29, 2015 and Republican Party, R.I.P. (1854 – 2016) By Erick Erickson RedState August 28th, 2015. The former is a vacuous puff piece for Carson. In the latter the pathetic Erickson concludes out of nowhere
The only way to save the GOP is for it to elect an outsider as its Presidential nominee who can lead the party in a fight against the President and the moral evils of the age.
I thought to myself: Hmm, looks like They’re about to start pushing Ben Carson.
Sure enough, today the-ever alert Drudge Report uses the snappier headline: Iowa poll; Ben Carson closing in linking to Bloomberg’s Ben Carson Edging Close to Front-Runner Trump in Latest Iowa Poll. This reports
The latest Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll shows billionaire Trump with the support of 23 percent of likely Republican caucus participants, followed by Carson at 18 percent. When first and second choices are combined, Carson is tied with Trump.
unhappily adding
Trump finds himself in a vastly better position than when the previous Iowa Poll was taken. He has become a credible presidential candidate to many likely Republican caucus-goers. The real estate mogul is rated favorably by 61 percent and unfavorably by 35 percent, an almost complete reversal since the Iowa Poll in May.
So the MSM is helping Conservatism Inc in playing the “Magic Negro” card – exploiting the childish if honorable fantasy amongst the electorate that somewhere out there is a Black Savior. This infantilism has already given the GOP the Herman Cain, Michael Steele and Colin Powell fiascos.
I draw the attention of VDARE.com readers to A Virginia Reader Has Been Doing The Research On Dr. Ben Carson
On immigration he does not want to deport illegal aliens and desires more “guest worker” programs.
Curiously, for a physician he has not expressed concern for the dangerous illnesses being brought to the nation by illegal aliens.
He believes the exclusion of women from military front line combat roles, and strenuous, dangerous occupations such as firefighter is due to discrimination (One NationChapter 6 – Bigotry). Perhaps Dr. Carson did not perform very well in his orthopedics rotation in medical school, or believes being politically correct tops medical science.
No doubt it will eventually emerge that Ben Carson has a funny history. But right now he is the Establishment’s best hope to overshadow the Trump charisma.

Catholic Group Sends Cakes to Thank Planned Parenthood Staff After It Sells Aborted Babies

National Sarah Zagorski       Washington, DC

Apparently, Catholics for Choice want their friends at Planned Parenthood to know how appreciated they are since they will be “harassed” tomorrow at the protests across the country regarding their organ harvesting business.
As LifeNews previously reported, tens of thousands of pro-life advocates are planning to protest at over 300 Planned Parenthood locations in response to seven videos showing their top executives haggling over the cost of aborted babies’ body parts and discussing ways to alter procedures to obtain organs for harvesting. Unbelievably, the newest video catches the abortion company dissecting the brain of a live baby after an abortion.
In a press release, the “Catholic” group writes, “Women’s health clinics across the country will again be harassed by the anti-choice movement this weekend. In response, Catholics organized to remind clinic staff that we stand with Planned Parenthood and support the important work they do. Today, Catholics for Choice delivered cakes and messages of goodwill to women’s clinics on behalf of Catholic supporters, showing that only a small minority of Catholics agree with the extremist voices of the bishops on the question of abortion.”
SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately
Yes, you read that right— the pro-abortion group is planning to deliver cakes to Planned Parenthood, and they believe only a small minority of Catholics agree with “extremist voices” that want to defund the abortion company. They continue, “On Saturday, antiabortion groups across the country will harass and intimidate women seeking care at Planned Parenthood affiliates. The protests are trying to drum up attention for a video smear campaign that is being used in attempts to strip the group of federal and state funds and deny women access to reproductive healthcare services.”
Keep up with the latest pro-life news and information on Twitter.
The President of Catholics for Choice, Jon O’Brien, said, “It is clear that Catholics support Planned Parenthood and reject the extremist rhetoric and dirty, underhanded tactics of the antiabortion lobby. We wanted clinic workers, doctors and nurses to know that we stand with Planned Parenthood and the women they care for.”
Unfortunately, for the pro-abortion group, it is unlikely that the majority of Catholics agree with their radical views on abortion; and it is even more unlikely that Catholics look favorably upon Planned Parenthood’s practice of dismembering babies and selling their organs for profit.
The truth is the Catholic Church’s teaching on abortion is clear, and in 2013, Pope Francis reiterated that they will never compromise on their opposition against it. He said, “I want to be completely honest in this regard. This is not something subject to alleged reforms or ‘modernizations’. It is not ‘progressive’ to try to resolve problems by eliminating a human life.”
Here’s more from Catholics for Choice:
“The US bishops’ own opinion survey showed that only a paltry 11 percent of Americans believe abortion should be illegal,” continued O’Brien. “Catholics for Choice is mobilizing its nearly 35,000 social media supporters to stand up to the bullying tactics, including conservative politicians in five states trying to defund Planned Parenthood at the state level and calls for increased regulation and legislative investigations in several others.”
SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must Investigate Planned Parenthood for Selling Aborted Baby Parts
“The cakes and the messages to clinic staff are important. We need to organize citizens of all faiths and no faith to remind our elected officials that these attempts to defund Planned Parenthood will only hurt poor folks in our communities.”
“With this campaign, we are drawing a line in the sand. We are standing on the side of reason and with the poor. We are asking our elected officials to join us and stand with Planned Parenthood

Said In Spanish: More Trump Trashing, More Hispanic Hypocrisy On Birthright Citizenship; etc.

What’s been going in the Spanish-language media the past month? As you’ve probably guessed, plenty of Trump-trashing—and more Hispanic hypocrisy, especially about Birthright Citizenship.
TRUMP PROFILE A HIT PIECE
Donald Trump’s open defense of American sovereignty has the Mexican chattering class on edge. As well it should. They recognize what Trump might be able to accomplish, and they don’t like it.
Thus, El Universal ran a web feature entitled Donald Trump El Magnate Antiinmigrantes [Donald Trump the Anti-Immigrant Magnate]. Besides the standard biographical information, there’s a section entitled “Trump vs. Mexico” featuring context-free quotes from Trump about Mexico, a section entitled “Contratos Abajo” [Contracts Cancelled] showing the companies that have broken business deals with Trump, and a photo gallery entitled “Lluvia de Criticas,” [Rain of Criticisms], chronicling Trump-trashing by a wide spectrum of famous people, including celebrities (Cher, Shakira, the former Mexican national soccer team coach, and Jorge Ramos) and assorted politicians.
One noteworthy trasher: Eugenio Derbez, a well-connected comedian and nephew of a former Mexican foreign minister. He said:
“They [Trump’s] are totally racist commentaries and I am sure that the day that Mexicans aren’t in this country [the U.S.], Latinos in general, the day that they are deported, the country will stop. The Latinos are the force that moves the United States.”
My emphasis. “The force that moves the United States”? Can we ask where?
Naturally, several of these celebrities boasted about the much-touted Latino Vote.
About as much chance of being President as Cher.Politicians reported to be trashing Trump included Mexican government officials, Jeb Bush (or do I repeat myself?), two former Mexican presidents, Hillary Clinton, Lindsey Graham, Barack Obama and Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.
Maduro, protégé of the late Hugo Chavez, said of Trump: “That type of person generates madness against our beloved Latin American People.”
Hmmm. Maduro has previously sworn “a little bird” told him the late Hugo Chavez is “happy.” [Is Nicolas Maduro Losing It? By Oscar Lopez, Latin Times, July 29, 2014]. I think Latin Americans can generate madness without Trump’s help
Josefina Vasquez Mota, a failed PAN party presidential candidate in 2012, said:
politicos_6[1]In the face of the declarations of terrible ignorance and disdain of a gentleman like Donald Trump and others who think like him, it’s important to know what’s happening with our community: 83 of every 100 Mexicans who currently reside in the United States, were born in the United States or have legal residence.
Two points to note:
  1. Josefina considers all those born in the U.S. of Mexican ancestry as “Mexicans” and part of “our community.”
  2. Even she admits that 17% are illegals.
Mexican Party Boss Trashes Trump
The much-hyped attack on a homeless Hispanic man provided fodder for the new presidente of the PRI, Mexico’s governing party:
After the attack that an indocumentado of Mexican origin suffered in Boston, the national leader of the PRI, Manlio Fabio Beltrones, called for a confrontation of ideas with populist demagogues.
[Beltrones referenda apoyo a migrantes y alerta contra discursos de odio [Beltrones reaffirms support to migrants and alerts against discourse of hate] by Alberto Morales, Universal, August 23, 2015]
And Mexican political leaders know a lot about populist demagogues.
Manlio Fabio Beltrones condemned the aggressions of the brothers Scott and Steve Leader, sympathizers [Allegedly—AW] of the Republican primary candidate Donald Trump, who beat and afflicted an indocumentado of Mexican origin in Boston, Massachusetts and [Beltrones] affirmed that the discourses of hate only generate violence.
But who in the U.S. is defending the Leader brothers? And when has Beltrones lamented the many violent crimes committed by illegals against Americans?
Beltrones actually met with Mexican congressmen about the issue and later declared in a communique:
“That type of populist demagogue that unfortunately is emerging in various places and with distinct masks, they have in common that they generate violence, rancor and they are a risk to democracy…”
Speaking to members of his political party, Beltrones asked the PRIstas to be attentive to the debate of current topics and to meet with citizens with ideas and proposals that unmask the populists of one or another political persuasion.
My emphasis. Note that Beltrones is making no distinction between the Mexican and U.S. political realms.
Beltrones went on:
“The PRI makes the cause of the Mexican migrants its own, as they form an indissoluble nucleus of our society, in that they provide remittances and cultural richness.”
My emphasis. This is a startling admission by the leader of a Mexican political party—especially because for the first time a major U.S. presidential candidate has called the Mexican government to account for its exploitation of emigration to advance its own interests at American expense.
My suggestion: Trump should also condemn this Mexican meddling in U.S. affairs, through its consulates and its openly claiming the loyalty of Mexican-Americans via its citizenship law.
Prediction: If Trump continues to advance, watch for more meddling by the Mexican government to stop him. They may already be working on it.
Hispanic Hypocrisy On Birthright Citizenship
On August 15th, La Opinión, the biggest Spanish-language paper in the U.S., published De nuevo sugieren cambiar la ciudadanía por nacimiento [Again the proposal to change citizenship by birth emerges] By Pilar Marrero]
This was the day before Donald Trump’s position paper officially challenged automatic birthright citizenship and was principally written in response to comments by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie [Christie no longer sure about birthright citizenship, by Steve Benen, MSNBC, August 12, 2015]
According to La Opinión’s Benen:
Throughout all the history of the United States, those born here automatically acquired U.S. citizenship regardless of who their parents were, a practice consecrated by the 14th amendment to the Constitution.
Not exactly, but moving on…
But every so often, and generally every four years during the presidential contention, somebody considers that it’s a good idea to suggest that this privilege should be removed from the children of inmigrantes sin papeles [immigrants without papers] as a type of punishment to the parents for coming illegally.
Benen then listed the Republican candidates and their positions—the implication being for Latinos to vote against anyone who opposes birthright citizenship.
What about Mexico? Trump is being criticized for saying that it doesn’t have birthright citizenship when, technically, it does. But my own experience suggests this is pretty darn technical.
In Mexico, it’s always important to check what the law says against what actually occurs. The Mexican Constitution (Capitulo II, Articulo 30 pdf., on p.26 of 170) does stipulate that any baby born in Mexican territory, regardless of parentage, is Mexican—automatic birthright citizenship. But my two sons were born in Mexico. Each baby’s Mexican birth certificate was issued to my wife and myself by a Mexican registrar. However, since I was a foreigner, the registrar required me to show my Mexican work permit in order to process the paperwork!
In other words, I had to prove I was in Mexico legally for each son to have a Mexican birth certificate!
When our second son was born, this process was temporarily derailed. My Mexican work permit was being renewed for the year, so it was temporarily out of my possession. The registrar would not issue the birth certificate until I had showed her my work permit. It took us several more weeks to obtain it.
So Mexico, although technically offering automatic birthright citizenship to children of illegal aliens and other foreigners, has in practice a way of getting around it. It can just refuse to issue birth certificates if one or both parents are not in the country legally! How very clever!
And note that, in our case, one of the parents, my wife, was a Mexican citizen, yet the child still didn’t automatically receive the documentation!
Ironically, what happened to us resembles what’s going on now in some jurisdictions of Texas, where birth certificates are being withheld from anchor babies on an ID technicality.
Needless to say, the Mexican government opposes this and has filed an amicus brief in the inevitable lawsuit.
What Latinos Miss After Moving To The U.S.
Ever find something on the Internet and you don’t even remember how? I ran across this interesting article on iMUJER a women’s Spanish-language website aimed at Latin American women living in the U.S.: 5 cosas que los latinos extrañan al mudarse a Estados Unidos [Five Things that Latinos Miss After Moving to the United States, by Sofia Gabarrat. Accessed August 28, 2015].
Gabarrat explains: “Leaving one’s country is not easy, even less so if you emigrate to a country where the culture is so very different, as occurs with the Latinos who move to the United States.”
The five things Latinos miss:
  1. La música en todas partes. [Music everywhere]. Gabarrat writes that there is music everywhere in Latin America, and in the U.S. people are too serious.
  2. Hablar español. [Speaking Spanish]. Gabarrat says that even if you learn English, you miss speaking Spanish, saying good morning in the grocery store. Maybe she lives somewhere that is still America.
  3. La gente. [The people].
  4. Los vendedores de la calle. [Street vendors].
  5. La libertad. [Liberty]. This is interesting. Americans fancy that foreigners come here seeking freedom. But most Latin Americans don’t see it that way. I never heard anybody in Mexico say he wanted to emigrate to the U.S. for “libertad”. Gabarrat writes:

In Latin America we don’t have so many rules, don’t you think? From riding a motorcycle without a helmet, to selling homemade food that you prepared in your own home in the street…… ¡Libertad! We all know that liberty presupposes that we should take care of ourselves more, but that is a price that we love to pay to do what we want to do.
Having lived in Latin America, I understand. I even sympathize. But it does show that most Latin Americans come to the U.S. for the money—not for freedom.
There’s a simple, human, and mutually respectful solution to this problem of a culture clash. Latinos who live in the U.S. and don’t feel they fit in should not try to take over our culture. They should consider moving back to Latin America, where they can be immersed in their own culture every day.
They can hear the music, they can buy from the street vendors, they can revel in the Latin American style of liberty.
That’s what different cultures and countries are for.
Isn’t that true multiculturalism?

We have certainly seen devastating earthquakes in recent years. The December 2004 earthquake off Indonesia was the most powerful in decades, unleashing a massive tsunami that took some 300,000 lives—the greatest number of casualties from an earthquake in more than 500 years.
But this word translated “earthquakes” in Matthew 24:7 Matthew 24:7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
American King James Version×
deserves a closer look. The Greek word is seismos, from which we derive such English words as “seismic” and “seismology,” referring to earthquake activity and the study of earthquakes. Strong's Lexicon defines it as “a commotion, i.e. (of the air) a gale, (of the ground) an earthquake—earthquake, tempest” (Strong's No. 4578).
Seismos encompasses a broader meaning than just the earth shaking. Matthew 8, for example, records the famous story of how a violent storm overtook Jesus and His disciples on the Sea of Galilee, threatening to capsize their fishing boat and drown them—until Jesus miraculously calmed the winds and waves.
The word used in verse 8 for this sudden, powerful storm is seismos, here translated “great tempest.” The parallel account in Mark 4:37 Mark 4:37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
American King James Version×
calls it a “great windstorm.” Therefore, seismos can also refer to violent storms involving wind and water, and isn't limited strictly to earthquakes as we might assume.
When Jesus Christ foretold “famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places,” His words encompass natural disasters that include earthquakes, but also can apply to hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes and other such violent storms in the air.
As the world recently saw with Katrina's devastation of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, hurricanes can be enormously destructive. Katrina took more than 1,000 lives and caused an estimated $200 billion in damage. In 1998, rainfall from hurricane Mitch generated more than a million landslides in Honduras alone, wiping our roads and burying towns and farmland.
Are such natural disasters increasing as Jesus foretold?
The Sept. 16 issue of Science magazine reports on research by scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. They concluded that while the number of hurricanes and cyclones had not increased, “the researchers did find a sharp increase during the past 35 years in the number of category 4 and 5 tropical cyclones, the most intense storms that cause most of the damage on landfall” (Richard Kerr, “Is Katrina a Harbinger of Still More Powerful Hurricanes?”, p. 1807).
Specifically, they found that the frequency of the most dangerous and damaging storms—those rated category 4 and 5— increased by 80 percent from the 1970s to the last decade. Their conclusions mirrored findings by a Massachusetts Institute of Technology meteorologist reported in the Aug. 4 issue of Nature.
Such findings should certainly make us sit up and take notice. Later in that same prophecy of the end time, as recorded in Luke 21:25-28 Luke 21:25-28 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.
American King James Version×
(New International Version), Jesus says: “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.” This appears to be not just a reference to massive storms, but also to more devastating tsunamis like the Indian Ocean tsunami from last December.
Here we also find Jesus using an interesting Greek word. Salos, translated “tossing,” means “the tossing motion of large waves on a body of water—'surging waves'” ( Louw-Nida Lexicon ). A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament defines its meaning as “a rolling or tossing motion, surge, esp. of the waves in a rough sea . . .” Both of these definitions mention surging of waves. The huge storm surges produced by hurricanes are perhaps their most damaging aspect.
Jesus continues: “Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Jorge Ramos Ejected: Trump Fires Warning Shot Across Bow of BlackLivesMatter Motormouths

Half a month ago, poor old Bernie Sanders was feebly left speechless in Seattle by two fat angry black women who screamed him off his own stage:

Tuesday, in contrast, Donald Trump decisively responded to an ethnic grievance monger trying to take control of the Donald’s news conference by having a tall security guard escort the puny interloper out of the room until the man calmed down:

Scott Adams, the Dilbert cartoonist, blogs:
Trump, that magnificent bastard, made his enemy do the perp walk on International TV while appearing 100% in charge of the situation.
In contrast, most of the English language news media in America — finding Mexicans tedious except in the abstract — is shocked that Trump would be insensitive to some poor nonwhite immigrant.
But you know and I know the race man who wouldn’t stop talking wasn’t just some BLM nobody like in Seattle, he was Haim Saban’s blue-eyed boy, Jorge Ramos, anchorman of the Spanish-language Univision network.
Here’s my 2004 VDARE book review of Ramos’ The Latino Wave: How Hispanics Will Elect the Next American President. I wrote 11 years ago:
Ramos is a stealth superstar. If you don`t speak Spanish—or read VDARE.com —you`ve probably never heard of him. …
Ramos is a man with a mission: keeping Latinos from fully assimilating into the American mainstream. He writes:
“I’m not one of those people who thinks that the common bond that unites those of us who live in the United States is the English language. No, I believe that this country’s two main characteristics are its acceptance of immigrants and its tolerance for diversity. These things are what bind us together; we’re here thanks to these unifying principles. That’s what it means to be an American. Not your ability to speak English. Talk to me in Spanish … or at least try. I sometimes go entire days without having to speak a single word of English…”
Of course, if Americans be persuaded that English is no longer the nation’s common bond, Hispanics can continue watching Univision’s Spanish-language broadcasts.
Mr. Perenchio [the Italian-American previous owner of Univision and Ron Unz’s arch-enemy during the Prop. 227 battle over bilingual education in California] must be pleased to have such a loyal lackey. Reading this book, I lost track of how many times Ramos argues that various politicians doomed their campaigns by not buying enough spots on Univision. …
Whether or not it’s bad for America, it’s good for his bank account.
Besides, what does he care? He remains a Mexican citizen even after 21 years in the U.S.
Since Ramos wrote The Latino Wave in Spanish for his Spanish-speaking fans (it was translated by Ezra E. Fitz), he can be franker than mass immigration apologists usually are when addressing an English-speaking audience. He gloats:
“But while no fighting is taking place on the military or legal fronts, there is fighting going on culturally. It’s the Reconquest. Latinos are culturally reconquering lands that once were part of the Spanish empire…”
Accordingly, much of Ramos` argument will be more familiar to readers of VDARE.com than to the gullible readers of the Wall Street Journal Editorial Page. Thus while Ramos pays lip service to “proposition nation” ideology to con non-Hispanics into allowing unlimited immigration into their country, he clearly believes that ethnicity and demographics matter. And he wants his ethnic group to win.
In 2007 Jerry Perenchio sold Univision to a consortium led by Haim Saban, who has been perhaps the biggest single contributor to Hillary Clinton’s campaigns over the years.
Of course, Trump is well aware of all these convoluted personal interests at play. Chuck Ross wrote for the Daily Caller in June:
Donald Trump’s Camp Questions If Univision Owner’s Ties To Hillary Clinton Are Behind Pageant Decision
With Univision’s decision to sever ties with the Miss Universe pageant — which is controlled in part by Donald Trump — the Republican presidential candidate and his camp are questioning the Hispanic media outlet’s move, saying that the company was reacting to pressure from Mexico and its owner, Haim Saban, who is a big Hillary Clinton supporter.
“[Univision is] put under a lot of pressure, in my opinion, by the Mexican government to get [me] to not talk about trade and the southern border,” Trump told The Daily Caller on Thursday.
“The biggest people in Univision, they’re all supporting Hillary,” he added. “I think that had a lot to do with it. They see how I’m doing in the polls,” the real estate billionaire continued, citing a recent poll from Suffolk University which shows him in second place in New Hampshire behind Jeb Bush.
“They know that I’ll beat [Clinton] if I run against her,” Trump said.
The Trump campaign is like 14 years of iSteve blogging about the behind-the-scenes interests playing out in real time.
Thirty years ago, I would have felt that emphasizing the Hillary-Haim-Jorge connection was unseemly. What matters is not the grubby little conspiracies, but the principles at stake!
A commenter submitted a very interesting quote from Trump about what changed when the Cold War was won. I haven’t been able to dig it up, so I’ll just riff off my vague memory. Trump argued that during the Cold War, long-term strategizing was highly important. But in the post-Cold War era, Trump’s skill set of tactical negotiating strengths has risen in relative value.
Like everything Trump says, this was self-interested. But it’s also interesting. Trump is sort of the anti-Reagan in the sense that Reagan was, for an ex-actor, surprisingly impersonal, more interested in enduring principles than in current personalities. (It drove Reagan’s kids crazy that he seemed less interested in their troubles than in the country’s.) Movie audiences tended to responded to him most when he could play to his natural strong suit as a high-minded idealist, such as in Reagan’s big 1951 hit Bedtime for Bonzo.
Trump, in contrast, is quick to point out his opponents’ mercenary biases. When Trump bothers to enunciate principles, as in the brilliant opening to his immigration position paper, they’re generally sensible. But he seems more aware than anybody else that we’re living in Fukuyama’s End of History when history hasn’t ended, just ideological sincerity. Political actors now are motivated less by economic theories than by whatever are the personal or identity group scams they happen to be working.

Can you hear the time bomb ticking in the Middle East? If you flinch under the weight of the escalating price and humiliating dependence on foreign oil, if you hear the threats from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad against Israel and the West and if you hear Ahmadinejad's defiant rejection of the West's oft-repeated demands for Iran to cease and desist from enriching uranium, then you do indeed hear the Iranian bomb ticking in the Middle East. Could it go off in the not-too-distant future?
Israelis cannot just wait for the bomb to go off; they live next door. Will Israel attack Iran and if so, when? Recently, Israel conducted an obvious military exercise over the Mediterranean Sea near Greece. The idea of this military exercise was to show that Israel's planes would fly the distance necessary to mount a mission to knock out Iran's nuclear facilities. Israel's implied threat is simple and direct: If enrichment continues, we could strike!

Israeli military exercises over the Mediterranean

Putnam Media Managing Editor Rick Pedraza wrote an insightful article for Newsmax.com titled “Bolton: Israel Will Strike Iran if Obama Is Elected.” It addressed a recent Fox News interview of former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton. Pedraza commented on Israel's massive air force exercise over Greece, which the Greek, Israeli and U.S. forces later confirmed was a test run for a strike on Iran's main uranium enrichment plant.
The ordinary person may not have considered Israel's determined, strategic and geopolitical defense against Iran's covert and overt threats of nuclear warfare. Bolton has: “'I think if they are to do anything, the most likely period is after our elections and before the inauguration of the next President.' They'd have to make a judgment whether to [strike] during the remainder of President Bush's term in office or wait for his successor” (www.newsmax.com ).
Remarkably, and counterintuitive to what might be considered a public norm, “Bolton believes Arab countries will support an Israeli strike, effectively ending Iran's nuclear ambitions, while publicly denouncing it”(ibid., emphasis added).
Former Ambassador Bolton thinks that if Senator John McCain wins the presidential race, the Israelis might postpone the attack, offering, “McCain's stance on Iran 'is far more realistic than that of the Bush administration'” (ibid.). Mr. Bolton thinks that Iran would not respond immediately to a strike since they would fear an American reprisal.

Israel, a very tiny nation

With all the saber rattling, Israel has little recourse but to take a very strong military stand, no matter the threat. This small nation is surrounded by overwhelming numbers of Arab states. Israel occupies a pitiful pinch of real estate blanketed by its Arab neighbors, many within its own borders. Every inch of Israel's territory is seen as critical to its safety.
It's easy to discover why Israel is in such a precarious and highly dangerous geopolitical position, a tempting prize for its larger neighbors. Israel, with an area of about 8,000 square miles, is ½0th the size of California. Israel is 260 miles long with a 120-mile coastline and is 70 miles across at its widest point. Israel is surrounded by more than 20 Arab nations equal to more than 630 times its size, more than 50 times its population—and the surrounding nations currently hold all the oil.

U.S. presidential influence in the mix

With only a few months until the American presidential elections, Israel should and likely will give the Bush administration one more chance to stop Iran's rush to enter the atomic and nuclear age. If nothing concrete happens before January 2009, it's possible that Israel will wait no more.
Will or can the United States do more than offer veiled threats to Iran, considering the U.S. involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan? The surge is working in Iraq, but Iraqi police alone aren't yet able to keep the peace. Taliban fighters are attempting to regain a foothold in Afghanistan. There is speculation that the United States may transfer troops from Iraq to Afghanistan to quell the Taliban surge.
The perplexing entanglement in the Middle East brings to mind Winston Churchill's 1939 radio broadcast in which he referred to forecasting the reaction of Russia to German aggression: “It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma [i.e., a puzzle, difficult to solve]; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest.”
Perhaps the key to the Iranian threat, counterintuitively, might just be the Arab nations' fear of Iranian hegemony right next door. Though they are overwhelmingly Muslim, the majority of Iranians are ethnically Persians rather than Arabs. The Iranians are also predominately Shiite Muslims (like the majority in Iraq), which makes the Sunni Muslims who control the rest of the Middle East's oil quite nervous.
If there's a military strike on Iran, either from Israel or the West, oil could spike to over $200 a barrel, further alienating the West from unsympathetic oil cartels. Gasoline could rise to $6 a gallon if not more.
It is clear that any U.S. intrusion into Iranian affairs would provoke a strong reaction from surrounding Arab countries, at least verbally. But would they do more? Consider that Iran's neighbors would not like Iran to have the bomb. Privately they would like a leveling of the playing field. An Iran with nuclear weapons would be a threat to the Arab nations, as well as to Israel. So don't assume that threatening rhetoric from nearby Arabic nations means that they are in league with Iran on this hot topic.
The U.S. presidential race is being weighed in the balance by both Iran and Israel. Both Iran and Israel will play out their hands based on how tough they think the next U.S. president will be on Middle Eastern geopolitics.

Will Israel survive?

Will Israel strike at Iranian nuclear facilities? If they conclude they need to, they probably will. It's a matter of self-preservation. With the recent announcement that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will step down after September elections, that seems more likely. Olmert has generally been viewed as a weak and ineffective leader, particularly in military matters.
What will be the outcome of all this? It won't be what most people would expect. Ironically, the Bible shows the Middle East and Israel being invaded by a European-based power described by Daniel as the king of the North (Daniel 11:40-41 Daniel 11:40-41 40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. 41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

). Zechariah describes a terrible attack on Jerusalem, with half the city going into captivity (Zechariah 14:1-3 Zechariah 14:1-3 1 Behold, the day of the LORD comes, and your spoil shall be divided in the middle of you. 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

).
But after all this, the inhabitants of the Middle East—Jews, Arabs and Iranians alike—will not be thinking about bombs but plowshares (Isaiah 2:4 Isaiah 2:4And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Rome’s Mayor: The City Is Swamped with Unwanted Illegal Aliens

An interesting article from www.vdare.com about immigration in Rome. This follows this post about Jeb Bush and Donald Trump. Remember, “Amnesty” means ANY non-enforcement of existing immigration laws! This follows this comment and this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! Also, you can read two very interesting books HERE.

Rome’s Mayor: The City Is Swamped with Unwanted Illegal Aliens

Above, foreign scroungers lounge about near Rome’s Tiburtina train station earlier this summer.
Over in the European spots popular with illegal aliens, the newbie squatters are cluttering up the place. Where to put them so the locals won’t trip over the diverse invaders?
Italy is unlucky in geography, with its southerly island of Lampedusa located just 70 miles from Africa, making it an easy destination for moocher fleabags. Modern communications have shown third-worlders that a more luxurious life is available if they can reach Europe and claim victimhood.
Europeans better wake up to the unforgiving demographics. The UN has a new report out, forecasting more rapid population growth than earlier projections: 11 billion humans on earth by 2100.
The growth leader is Africa, exploding from 1 billion today to well over 4 billion in 85 years:

And every African who is allowed to stay in Europe will be texting the rest of his family to join him in the wealthy first world, where welfare offices hand out free money to anyone with a hard-luck story. There’s no reason for millions not to come when Europe makes itself so attractive.
Rome ‘too crowded’ for more migrants: mayor, The Local, August 4, 2015
Rome receives the second-largest number of refugees among Italian cities, but Mayor Ignazio Marino has warned that the Italian capital is reaching saturation point.
His warning comes less than a month after violent protests broke out over the arrival of 100 refugees in Casale San Nicola, a suburb in the outskirts of the city.
Concerned about how to accommodate more refugees, Marino said the city is “overcrowded”.
“We can’t welcome 18 to 20 percent of people who arrive in our country. We don’t have the resources,” he was cited by Ansa as telling a Lower House commission on immigration on Tuesday.
With reception centres bursting at the seams, refugees set up a makeshift camp outside Rome’s Tiburtina station in mid-June before it was raided by police.
Several leaders in Italy’s wealthier north have refused to bow to a government call to take in more refugees, but this is the first time concerns have been voiced by the Rome mayor.
But tensions over immigration have escalated across Italy in recent months. A day before the Rome protests, residents in a Treviso district burnt furniture intended for refugees in protest against their arrival. The refugees were eventually taken to an empty police station outside the city.
Marino is also under pressure to fix the city’s myriad other problems, including its transport system, the maintenance of monuments and its waste issue.
