SAN ANTONIO — A city employee who was among those arrested Friday during a San Antonio Police Department prostitution sting is also the husband of a popular Tejano star.
David Lucero, 51, is the events services manager at the Alamodome, according to a San Antonio human resources spokeswoman. Lucero is also the husband of Patsy Torres, a singer and songwriter who has toured in over 10 countries, according to her website, and has been named one of the top female Tejano stars by Billboard Magazine.
According to her website, Torres is “one of the most important and influential Tejano entertainers of our time.” Her website also describes her active involvement in charity work and around the Christian music scene.
Torres denied comment when reached on her cellphone.
A marriage license was filed for Lucero and Torres on April 19, 1988.
Torres said in an Express-News interview last year about her 13th album, “Mi Inspiración,” that it was her most personal album yet.
A track titled “Nuestro Aniversario” was dedicated to Lucero, celebrating 25 years of marriage.
During the sting, which the media was invited to observe from nearby unmarked vehicles, Lucero was recorded pulling up to an undercover officer wearing revealing clothing at a West Side intersection. He was taken into custody after police said he agreed upon a price for a sexual act.
Solicitation of prostitution in a Class B misdemeanor for first-time offenders.
Spokeswoman Roxanne Olivarri said Lucero has been placed on administrative leave, per the city's process for when an employee is arrested.
“After a review of the facts and depending on the situation, the employee could be disciplined and possibly terminated,” she said. “The city is working to expeditiously review the facts of this particular case.” mferman@express-news.net
