Call & Ask Lt. Gov. Dewhurst to Push State E-Verify Bill‏

An urgent post from www.NumbersUSA.com about immigration bills in the key state of Texas. This follows this post about congressional redistricting and this follows this post which shows that there are 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso. On a related note, you can read about Miss Kentucky Latina here, an interesting article about Jessica Alba here or another article about Salma Hayek here. Call & Urge Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst to Back E-Verify Legislation

Dear Activist:

SB 84, legislation that would require government entities and government contractors and subcontractors to run their employees through the E-Verify employment verification system, has been stuck in the Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee since January 31. Committee Chairman Tommy Williams and other Senate leaders, unfortunately, seem disinclined to push the bill forward even though there is not much time left in the current legislative session. Please call Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (the Texas Senate President) and Committee Chairman Tommy Williams and urge them to press forward with SB 84. Also, if you have time, please consider phoning the Senators on the Transportation and Homeland Security Committee and urge them to push the bill as well. Phone numbers and talking points are below.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst: 512-463-0001

Committee Chairman Sen. Tommy Williams: 512-463-0104

Committee Members:

Sen. Kirk Watson: 512-463-0114

Sen. Wendy Davis: 512-463-0110

Sen. Rodney Ellis: 512-463-0113

Sen. Chris Harris: 512-463-0109

Sen. Juan Hinojosa: 512-463-0120

Sen. Robert Nichols: 512-463-0103

Sen. Florence Shapiro: 512-463-0108

Sen. Jeff Wentworth: 512-463-0125

Suggested talking points:

E-Verify is fast, free, and 99.7% accurate. There is no reason why Texas employers should not use it!

Texans are sitting unemployed while greedy businesses hire illegal aliens. Don't you think this is unjust and unfair? Please push for a vote on SB 84 so that more Texas are able to find jobs

SB 84 would prevent taxpayer dollars from going towards the hiring of illegal aliens. I'm sure you agree that all Texans agree that jobs funded by Texans should go to Texans and not illegal aliens. Please push for a vote on the bill in the Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee so that it can progress to the Senate floor.

Thank you!
