A surprising number of my friends on Facebook changed their profile pic to this photo. I guess the number itself wasn't so surprising as the number of them whom I would've assumed considered themselves Christian. Even Rob Bell, the famous evangelical minister known far and wide openly supports gay marriage.



Support the lifestyle of practicing homosexuality or support the teachings of the Bible—you can't do both. The Apostles, inspired by God and acting to spread the word about Jesus Christ, powerfully condemned the continual practicing of homosexuality alongside every other sin us humans get involved in.



"Don’t you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers—none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 [9] Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

[10] Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Paul wrote that to a church that was surrounded by a culture way more sinful than ours in the West today—temple prostitution was still a thing back then. But Paul and Barnabas and the other apostles were not afraid to go in and strongly condemn all those practices as what they were—sinful and despised by God. To be clear, there is a distinction between somebody who is homosexual (they have same-sex attraction, you might call it) and somebody who practices homosexuality . The former is a trait that is ingrained in somebody's state of mind, the latter is choosing to accept that way of life and practice it.



To those Christians who change their profile picture in support of "marriage equality," I say, "Stand for something, you gutless hypocrites." Or to quote Jesus when He rebuked the religious people of His day, "You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: ‘These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men’” (Matthew 15:7-9 [7] Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

[8] This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

[9] But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

See All..., NIV). If you say you follow Jesus Christ, but don't have the guts to actually practice that way of life or support its teachings, then admit you are not a Christian. Will you join the next movement that seeks to legalize extortion? Will you change your profile picture in solidarity with shoplifters when the movement to legalize stealing comes around? Do you think it's OK to cheat on your spouse?



Be a Christian or don't. There is no in-between. Saying you follow Jesus Christ but supporting something like gay marriage is using His name in vain. It's an affront on His perfect, righteous character. It's an insult to God, who offered His Son so we all could have salvation from death (John 3:17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.



See All...). And let's not forget that accepting that sacrifice then willfully and purposefully sinning is what you might call the unpardonable sin (Hebrews 10:26-27 [26] For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Hope for All of Us Sinners

Here's Paul's follow-up point to his condemnation: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

It shows that even in a society which was super pagan and sinful, a church made up of individuals called out of that mess could come to repentance and change . They could each look at their lives and recognize all the bad influences society had had on them, and decide to bury that old person. Put on the new man. Put on the mind of Christ. Live a life showing fruits worthy of repentance (Colossians 3:9-10 [9] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

[10] And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Let's not let our clear vision of God's coming Kingdom be blurred by the slow and sure progression of human nature's influence. Let's put away our old, sinful ways and live a new life of righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:20-24 [20] But ye have not so learned Christ;

[21] If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

[22] That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

[23] And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

[24] And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

On April 10, our opponents say, they will be busing tens of thousands of pro-amnesty protesters to Washington, D.C., to march on the Capitol. They will demand an immediate amnesty for (in many cases) themselves and other illegal aliens now residing in America, taking our jobs and drawing our benefits.

The bill will legalize most of the 11 to 19 million illegal aliens. It will give eventual citizenship, including voting rights. And it would give them access to trillions of dollars of benefits (such as medicare, food stamps and social security).



3. On April 8-9, we'll make 30,000 phone calls.

Obama blocking "ethical alternative to importing oil from regimes such as Saudi Arabia"


Obama's trip to Israel was a disaster, as he strong-armed Netanyahu into apologizing for Israel's defensive action against the Mavi Marmara jihad flotilla (which apology Al Jazeera -- as noted below -- happily characterized as "normalizing" ties between Israel and Turkey). And comparison of Israeli/"Palestinian" relations to those between the U.S. and Canada was simply bizarre. However, it looks as if Obama may have been on to something: he is standing in the way of a Canadian/U.S. oil pipeline that could end U.S. dependence on oil from Islamic supremacist states.

As Obama wrapped up his Middle East tour, applauded by AIPAC for reaffirming "unbreakable bonds" and "deep affection" between two key allies; and by Al Jazeera for "normalizing" Israel Turkey ties, Obama's neighbors to the north are left scratching their heads about what he meant by his off-the-cuff statementthat compared Israeli-Palestinian relations to Canada-U.S. relations.

After acknowledging in his speech the horror of an Israeli sleeping in his bed and having a rocket come through the roof, Obama went on to say: "Even though both sides have areas of strong disagreement, may be engaging in activities that the other side considers to be a breach of good faith, we have to push through those things…. There will be a sovereign Palestinian state, a sovereign Jewish State of Israel and those two states will be able to deal with each other the same way all states do. The United States and Canada have arguments once in a while."



The outlandish comparison – as Canadians do not lob rockets and missiles into Rochester or Detroit or claim the U.S. as "Occupied Canada" -- could have been an Obama gaffe to add to an open-mic one he made during his welcome ceremony after he landed in Israel and declared that this trip allowed him to "get away from Congress." Obama has become quite noted for minor and major gaffes, such as when he insulted Netanyahu and conspired with outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Both incidents raised questions about his character, his policies and potentially hidden agendas.



Although one could not decipher any meaning behind Obama's odd comparison of American-Canadian relations with Israeli-Palestinian relations , one can note some important "arguments" the U.S. now faces with Canada: primarily the Keystone XL pipeline project, designed to carry oil from Canada to Texas oil refineries.



\To address further these "once in a while arguments," a Forbes article illustrated how -- with policies similar to what are being promoted by Republicans -- Canada is outperforming the U.S. economically on every level. Entitled "What President Obama Doesn't Want You To Know About Canada", it cited senior sources in the Canadian government who met with Obama administration officials and said their impression was that the White House is jealous of the Canadian government's power to have its way. Even the notoriously liberal Canadian Broadcaster CBC featured in its community blog: "Republicans threaten move to Canada after Obama win".



The Obama administration's energy policy is starkly divergent from the Harper government's. Canada obtains oil from places such as the Athabasca oil sands region in northeastern Alberta, while the Obama administration has reduced drilling permits on public lands and has stalled the go-ahead of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada. The Keystone pipeline not only provides an ethical alternative to importing oil from regimes such as Saudi Arabia and Venezuela; it is also an "essential part of the North American energy marketplace" and of U.S.-Canada relations, according to former Conservative cabinet minister Jim Prentice , who is now a senior executive with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.



When Obama rejected Keystone in early 2012, he pinned the blame for the decision on Republicans, accusing them for trying to push the administration to an earlier deadline. But Obama's dilemma about the Keystone project reveals underlying issues that could have long-term implications for Obama's credibility in his ongoing commitment to promote an agenda affecting "climate change," as well as to his liberal economic policies. For example, during a speech on China and India as emerging economies, Obama's assistant on economic policy, Lawrence Summers, raised the idea that India's political-economic model, which he referred to as the "Mumbai Consensus," may in the end win the day. According to Summers the Mumbai Consensus is "not based on ideas of laissez-faire capitalism that have proven obsolete or ideas of authoritarian capitalism that ultimately will prove not to be enduringly successful…." Recall that George Bush was the whipping boy for laissez-faire capitalism in certain camps after the Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae fiasco that led to the 2008 economic meltdown, even though it is no secret that the Democrats bore guilt.



With respect to Obama's credibility, right after taking office, in having vowed to promote policies that would supposedly moderate climate change, Obama committed the U.S. to the foreground of global climate change initiatives -- the centerpiece of which would entail revamping the flawed Kyoto protocol to bring include equitable commitments from countries such as China and India, which, despite being the most objectionable polluters, had been given free passes under the Kyoto accords. Now, years later and into his second term, Obama faces stumbling blocks in making good on his promises, not the least of which involves the Keystone pipeline.



Before tackling that issue, however, there are a couple other entanglements Obama is facing: now that Republicans control the House, Obama has apparently decided to move forward on his own with climate change initiatives, which include plans to engage federal agencies and the Environmental Protection Agency. National regulations will inevitably involve the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The problem is that Obama has failed to appoint a single judge to this powerful court that decides cases challenging agency regulations -- making him the first full-term president in over half a century to do so, and in effect hobbling his own agenda.



Even though Obama has twice thwarted the Keystone project, the Senate has just endorsed its construction, and House Republicans have vowed not to wait for Obama, but to sidestep the White House and vote on legislation to approve the Keystone project by Memorial Day.



Now that Obama has finished playing relationship counselor in the Middle East, he returns to the U.S. to face serious challenges coming in from Canada and from Congress. Environmentalists have already started branding the Keystone pipeline as the "Obama Pipeline" and the "Obama Legacy on Keystone," and are asking questions such as: "What happens if it leaks?" The surrounding heat being generated from the Keystone controversy may well have had an influence upon Obama's gaffe in comparing U.S.-Canada relations with Israeli-Palestinian relations, even though in reality there is no comparison.

Wknd Box Office: Olympus Has Fallen, Spring Breakers, Admission

I liked just one of the new movies at theaters today.


* “Olympus Has Fallen“: This is Die Hard 2.0, starring Gerard Butler in the Bruce Willis role of saving America from terrorists. And I enjoyed it. Yes, it’s a little formulaic and the ending is predictable. But, so what? It’s thrilling, exciting, and action-packed. It’s also timely, since the movie deals with North Korean terrorists. And a bonus: Ashley Judd dies in the first five minutes. Ya can’t beat that. (Although her political career might die even sooner than that.) The only thing missing, since this movie involves North Korean terrorists, is a cameo by Dennis Rodman. While it’s a tad disturbing to see terrorist planes crashing in to the Washington Monument and the White House, it wouldn’t happen in real life, especially after 9/11, so it’s only a movie. If planes like this invaded DC airspace, our F-16s (or other jet fighters) would immediately be scrambled to take the interloping planes out.



Aaron Eckhart is the President of the United States. He’s got the most politically correct cabinet and administration in history. The Secret Service Director is a Black chick, the Vice President is Hispanic, the Secretary of Defense is a woman, and the Speaker of the House is Morgan Freeman. I was surprised that–horror of horrors!–the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was actually an old, White male. Butler is the First Son’s favorite Secret Service agent, but Butler is banished from the President’s personal protection detail (PPD–a term not used in the movie, but that’s what it’s called) because Butler reminds the President of the death of the First Lady (Judd) in a winter snowstorm car accident. Butler is desperate to get back in action, and he gets his chance the day South Korean leaders come to the White House to meet the President, and it turns out that their security and diplomatic entourage is infiltrated with North Korean terrorists.


Suddenly, the terrorists’ planes start invading DC airspace and are attacking the Washington Monument, the White House, and thousands of people on Washington’s streets. Crowds of purported tourists at the White House gates are actually terrorists, as well. The President is taken hostage, along with most of his cabinet. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Secretary of Defense are both threatened with death, until the President breaks down and tells them to give their nuclear launch codes (“Cerberus codes”) to the terrorists. It was interesting to see the female Secretary of Defense wimpering, whining, and crying and the President immediately giving in to terrorists because he can’t handle a woman in distress. Yup, America, I give you women in combat. Same difference.



Since almost the entire Secret Service Presidential Detail is wiped out by the terrorists, Gerard Butler is the hero of the movie, secretly infiltrating the now badly-burned and blown up White House, which is filled with dead bodies. The rest of the movie is filled with wimpy, wimpering American officials–including the President–giving in to the North Korean terrorists’ demands, while Butler tries to rescue everyone and save the day.



If this was really the way America responded to a terrorist attack on the White House and a hostage situation with the President, America would be gone. If a President is taken hostage and terrorists are trying to get nuclear launch codes–and other top officials trying to save the day are aware of it in this movie–a bomb should be dropped on the terrorists and their Presidential hostage (with the next person in line taking the oath of office–the latter part only kinda, sorta happens here), so that we don’t give in to terrorists and they don’t win the day, as they almost do here. The President in this movie is a wimpy little bitch.



But, like I said, it’s thrilling, action-packed, and a fun, escapist time at the movies. Be forewarned, however, that the movie is extremely violent. It’s filled with dead bodies and people being shot in the head, beaten, and/or tortured. NOT for kids (at least, not when I was a kid).



TWO-AND-A-HALF REAGANS



* “Spring Breakers“: Since the beginning of this complete piece of trash parading as a movie, I wanted to see its four female lead characters (and the actresses who played them) get murdered in horribly violent ways. That would have been the only justice. Sadly, that didn’t happen. And all of them live another day to make more of this malodorous dung.



I already wrote and posted my review of this movie before even having seen it, when I wrote about how this threesome-sex, killing-porn, drug-laden, violent movie was marketed to 12-year-olds in Seventeen Magazine. And I was completely accurate in what I wrote, except that the sickness of this movie is far worse than I’d earlier diagnosed. The movie starts with two college girls in class drawing pictures. One draws a heart that says, “I Love Penis.” The other draws a penis that says, “Spring Break, Bitch!” on it, and then she simulates giving the picture oral sex. It only goes further downhill from there.



This long, slow, boring piece of s**t is extremely repetitive, incredibly stupid, and a time-bandit that robbed two hours of my life I’ll never get back. It’s directed by Harmony Korine, a pretentious, disgusting son of PBS-employed hippies. Who else names their son, “Harmony,” and raises him to (never) grow up and make disturbing absolute garbage on celluloid, which is then marketed to impressionable tween girls?



Four college girls (Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine a/k/a the ugly one, who is clearly only in the movie because she is married to the scumbag director) who are dumb as doorknobs are desperate to go on Spring Break to St. Petersburg, Florida. Since they don’t have enough money, they steal their professor’s car, rob and threaten to kill diners and employees at a restaurant, and then torch the car. When they get to St. Petersburg, they engage in hedonistic drinking and drug use and get arrested. They are bailed out by a corn-rowed, grill-endowed White rapper/drug dealer named, “Alien” (James Franco). One of them, a religious Christian (Gomez), goes home because she doesn’t like or trust Alien. The others go to his tacky mansion on the water and do drugs with him and engage in violent crime and armed robbery on his behalf. Two of the girls have a threesome with Alien and then go with him to kill his Black enemy/competitor.



The end. Great for your 12-year-old . . . if you’re a moron.



Of one thing I am sure: every single person involved with this movie is a complete scumbag unworthy of human life.



FOUR MARXES PLUS FOUR OBAMAS PLUS FOUR BIN LADENS


* “Admission“: I found this mawkish, lefty-grungy-feely movie incredibly annoying, pretentious, and irritating. It was also supposed to be a comedy, but it just wasn’t funny. It was long, slow, and boring. A rich, liberal White guy (Paul Rudd) adopting a Black kid from Africa . . . yawn. Madonna, Charlize Theron, Palestina Jolie, and Sandra Bullock already own this fashion accessory. A bunch of liberal Princeton college admissions officers who put liberal activities and behavior as well as race and ethnicity ahead of actual academic achievement in choosing whom to admit to the Ivy Leagues . . . also not news. A liberal school for high school and middle school students where nothing much is taught other than how to build alternative irrigation in Africa and how to be “better citizens of the world” by helping a cow give birth? Well, that is just beyond annoying. And did I mention that the guy who adopted the Black kid is the one running this crazy, silly, BS school?



If none of this sounds irritating enough to watch on-screen, add in lesbian Lily Tomlin as a crazy, ugly feminist (yup, she’s playin’ herself) with a Betty Friedan tattoo and a poster of a fish on a bicycle, an homage to Gloria Steinem’s rejection of men (she famously said women need men as much as a fish needs a bicycle). Tomlin is the single mother of the vastly over-rated Tina Fey, who is an admissions officer at Princeton, eager to get a promotion to Dean of Admissions. She is also recently dumped by her boyfriend and is told that a kid at a liberal, unstructured “developmental” school called “Quest” (see above description) is the son she gave birth to in college and gave up for adoption. The facts seem to match up and jibe with the likelihood that he is her son. The kid has atrocious grades, but we’re told he is an “auto-didact” who teaches himself to learn. (I don’t need to be auto-irritated. I sat through this movie, which performed that task quite well.) Fey goes out on a limb to get the kid admitted into Princeton and predictably develops a relationship with the man who heads the school (Rudd).



The movie also co-stars the loathsome Wallace Shawn, a self-hating, anti-Semitic, anti-Israel “Jew” In Name Only. No thanks. But even without him, I could not stand this movie. The kids in it were pretentiously and obnoxiously to the far-left. But it didn’t appear that the movie was mocking them. Rather, it was lauding these future Hillary Clinton voters who rail against corporate America and other stale, old, refried crap of the left. Ick. I couldn’t tell, either if the movie was mocking feminism, or again, trying to endear us to this baloney.



Doesn’t matter. Either way, don’t waste your time or money on this insipid gruel. An absolute waste of time.



“Admission” literally isn’t worth the price of admission. They should be paying you to sit through this.



THREE MARXES

Source: Wikimedia Commons/Universal Studios Have you ever been desensitized to something? I know I have. It isn't always a bad thing and can relieve a certain level of stress. However, it isn't always a good thing either. Over the years there have been many discussions in the media about the desensitizing of our children due to increasing levels of violence in certain video games.




What about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on our behalf? Could we become desensitized to the miracles involved and what they mean for us today? Some of the most popular books, movies, and other entrainment of today focus on zombies and vampires. Think about it for a minute. The resurrection of the dead is a miracle that can only be performed through the will of God. It is the same miracle that allowed our Savior to set up in His tomb and to fold his burial clothes. Yet this miracle plays out as an everyday occurrence in movies and books that focus on zombies. The "undead" as they are called are not shown in a positive way, having been given life again due to a great miracle, but they are shown as a representation of walking death.




Jesus Christ died and shed His blood for our sins. As a symbol of his death and our forgiveness of sin, during the Passover service we drink a small amount of red wine which represents his blood. However, the entertainment industry has made the drinking of blood an everyday occurrence, one that has more to do with death and violence than it does with the forgiveness of sins and life. Does the symbolism get lost in today's popularity of vampires?




Many would argue that these movies and books, produced for entertainment purposes have nothing to do with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I would agree. However on closer look can we say that this type of entertainment does not have some kind of desensitizing effect on the world around us? When the drinking of blood and bringing back to life of the dead is more about entertainment, the world can lose perspective on how truly amazing those symbols can be in our life today. When these symbols of life become more about symbols of death based on entertainment, can we expect our minds to remain unaffected?




We realize that Satan is the God of this world and he is more cunning than we could ever imagine. What better way for him to twist the symbols that lead to life into symbols of death than to do so in a way that is seen as harmless entertainment?

Tina Fey often sounds sore whenever the subject of her famous Sarah Palin impression comes up.

The shtick gave her nation-wide fame and earned her a warm spot in virtually every liberal celebrity's heart, but to hear her tell it she'd rather leave those Palin-esque glasses behind permanently.



Apparently, Fey had a change of heart, and just in time for her appearance on Bravo's Inside the Actor's Studio.



Fey resurrected her Palin impression long enough to rip the ex-governor about same sex marriage and generally pretend Palin is as dumb as the left would have us believe. Anyone who caught Palin's rip-roarin' CPAC speech a few days ago, or any of her fiery public appearances knows otherwise, but Fey understands the liberal narrative regarding the Tea Party favorite, and she's sticking to it.

"I believe that if everybody had guns there'd be fewer guns in the stores."

"The Bible says it's gross ... marriage is meant for people who wear different kinds of sweatsuits."

Do you know what it means to demonstrate real love?







Source: clipart.comThe command that we love one another is nothing new to those who read the Bible on a regular basis. Typing the word "love" into the search box at Bible Gateway brings back 329 results in the New King James Version. We are told to love God, to love His commands, to love one another. In John 15:12This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.



See All..., Jesus says, “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” In John 13:35By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.



See All..., He stated, "”By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”



What do we think of when we think of love? For many of us, perhaps the first thing that comes to mind is falling in love: a special person that we come to adore. For most of us, thinking about love prompts us to think about a feeling, a tenderness of heart, a smile when we think of that person. We desire that person’s well-being. We want them to succeed. We want good things to come their way. But is there more to it?



I think there is. In John 14:15If ye love me, keep my commandments.



See All..., Jesus says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” The indication here is that there is far more involved than simply feeling loving: that love should motivate us to do something, to keep His commandments. There is action involved. It is no surprise, then, that throughout the New Testament the concept of concern and love for our brethren is closely linked to service, to doing something about their needs. Christ, after all, loved us in far more than just feeling: He gave His life for us. He said, in John 15:13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

In Romans 12:9Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

In 1 John 3:16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” Likewise, James--linking faith and works--wrote in James 2:15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

See All...), but by extension all mankind – is a matter of deeds, then, and not just feelings or words. We are called to follow Christ’s example, not by necessarily dying for someone else, but by daily choosing to lay down a part of our lives for someone else. When we love in deed, it means that we choose to give up something we would rather be doing at the moment to come to the aid of someone else. We give up looking after our own needs in order to espy the needs of others. We give of our energy, time, money, and goods in order to ease the burden of another person. And if we are following Christ’s example, that other person is likely to be someone who doesn't look as though they “deserve” our sacrifice. After all, Christ died for us “while we were still sinners” (Romans 5:8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.



See All...). None of us deserve His sacrifice. In like manner, we must be careful to serve all in love, not just the people we like. James 2:9But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

When we love our fellow man, we demonstrate to God not just our understanding of His word but our understanding of how He thinks. We demonstrate, too, a desire to please Him above pleasing ourselves, and we gain His approval by our conduct. In Hebrews 13:16But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.



See All... Paul writes that we ought not “...forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” In 1 John 3:14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.



See All... we read, “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren.”



Let us continue to grow in love towards our brethren and towards all mankind. In doing so, let us remember not to simply rely on feeling loving, but also on performing acts of love, that our faith may be demonstrated not so much in our profession as in our action. Let us remember to lay down our lives daily for the sake of our brethren in the same way that our Lord and Savior laid down His life for us before we knew Him or could love Him. Let us make our love more than a feeling, but rather the hard evidence of what we believe.

ICE Director Morton says agency could have shifted funds to prevent illegal-alien detainee release

ICE Director John Morton was forced to defend his agency's decision to release thousands of illegal aliens from custody during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday. Morton said he could have requested a reprogramming of department funds from the Appropriations Committee to prevent the release, and he also couldn't say with certainty that the illegal aliens released don't pose a threat to the safety of the American public.





Morton said the release was a direct result of the department facing a 5% cut in its funding because of the budget sequester that went into effect earlier this month. He said the agency was forced to save $300 million, while still trying to maintain an average detention rate of 34,000.





"The reduction was a direct result of ICE's efforts to stay within its budget in light of the continuing resolution and the possibility and now reality of sequester," Morton said.





The purpose of the hearing was to determine whether the agency did indeed release the detained illegal aliens because of the sequester or whether it was part of a greater public relations strategy by the Obama Administration to highlight the effects of the budget sequester. Morton testified that the decision came solely from within ICE.





"It was a decision made by the career officials made within the agency, specifically Mr. Mead and our Chief Financial Officers," Morton said. "Was the decision made by anyone outside of the agency? The answer is categorically no."

Rep. Bob Goodlatte



Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) asked Morton why he didn't consider tapping into other agency funds to prevent the release of the detainees.





"All the other accounts in ICE carried a balance of $240 million for the year, and $120 million for the past six months," Chairman Goodlatte said. "Additionally, your CFO indicated ICE carried forward $100-120 million in user fee balances. Can you tell me why ICE never submitted a reprogramming request to appropriations? Isn't it true that ICE could have submitted a reprogramming request to pay for the release of these detainees?"





"We can seek reprogramming requirements, that is absolutely true Mr. Chairman," Morton said. "We did not in this instance. I am trying to live within the appropriations that Congress gives us. … We are not going to rob Peter to pay Paul."





"The appropriations committee is very used to dealing with excess expenditures necessitated by changed circumstances and they do respond quickly to those requests," Goodlatte said. "I am pleased that you did acknowledge that you could have dipped into surplus funds from fees or from other funds carried over from other operations within the department rather than releasing criminal aliens onto our streets."

Rep. Raul Labrador



Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Id.) questioned Morton about his management of funds, but took a different angle. He said ICE was able to maintain the same levels of detention and deportations with less than funding than during the sequester during Morton's time with the agency.





"Your budget in 2009 was $4.9 billion," Rep. Labrador said. "Your budget in 2010, it was $5.3 billion. Your budget in 2011 was $5.4 billion. And your budget in 2012 was $5.5 billion. So in the last four years, your budget has been raised by at least 10%. Is that correct?"





"That is correct," Morton said.





"You're now telling us that because you have to cut 5% of your budget, you can not do the job you were doing in 2009 and 2010," Rep. Labrador said. "Is that what you're telling us?"





"No," Morton said. "I am telling you that we are operating at an all-time high in both detention and removals."





"But you just testified that in 2009 and 2010 you were detaining and deporting about 400,000 a year," Rep. Labrador said. "You were taking credit, which I think you should for deportations and you had a budget that was actually less than what your sequestration budget is going to be."





"Our removals were the highest ever," Morton said.





"And for the last four years you've averaged 400,000 deportations a year, and you've done it with a budget that was smaller than what we're talking about here," Rep. Labrador said.

Rep. Trey Gowdy



According to Morton, four of the 2,228 illegal-alien detainees that were released were level one offenders, meaning they had been charged of or convicted of a felony. House Immigration Subcommittee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) asked Morton why they couldn't find the funding to keep the level one offenders in custody.





"If it's $122 a day to house four level one aggravated felons then releasing them saves you what - $600 a day?" Rep. Gowdy asked.





"Each day, that's right," Morton said.





"You can't find $600 a day anywhere in your budget?" Rep. Gowdy asked.





"We make determination on a case-by-case basis," Morton said.





"Can you find $600 somewhere else in your budget?" Rep. Gowdy asked.





"The question is whether that $600 is well spent on those people or someone else," Morton said. "When it comes to someone who was a 40 year lawful resident…"





"I don't care, was he a level one?" Rep. Gowdy asked.





"He is a level on offender," Morton said.





Rep. Gowdy, like many of the other Committee Members then shifted his line of questioning to whether or not the released illegal aliens could pose a threat to the American people.





"Did you release any recidivous drunk drivers?" Rep. Gowdy asked.





"Yes," Morton said.





"How many?" Rep. Gowdy asked.





"I don't have the exact number, but we have released many individuals that have DUI offenses," Morton said.





"Repeat offender DUI?" Rep. Gowdy asked.





"Repeat offender DUI," Morton said.

Rep. Randy Forbes



Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.) asked Morton if any of the released illegal aliens were members of a violent gang.





"I think there are two cases, at least one that I know of, that when we went back and looked at the information there was a gang affiliation," Morton said.





"Do you ask the individuals that you detain whether they are members of a violent gang or not?" Rep. Forbes asked.





"We try wherever we can," Morton said.





"Is that part of your questioning? Do you have that information on the people you released?" Rep. Forbes asked.





"I don't know if we ask each and every person," Morton said.





"So you can't really answer for the 2,228," Rep. Forbes said. "All you can say is that two of these individuals had a known gang affiliation, but you don't know if the other 2,228 had a gang affiliation or not?"





"I can't speak to every individual that we released," Morton said.





"So it's possible that someone who was here illegally, who had been charged or convicted of a crime, and could have been voluntarily part of a violent criminal gang, you wouldn't know that?" Rep. Forbes asked.





"On convictions, yes. But on general gang affiliation, I can't say that we would know," Morton said.





Rep. Lamar Smith asked Morton directly if he thought any of the illegal aliens released could pose a threat to the American people. Morton tried to dodge the answer after Rep. Smith asked in several different ways, so Rep. Smith finally told him what he thought the public perception of the release was.





"Let me answer the question the way I think the American people would answer it," Rep. Smith said. "The American people think you releasing illegal aliens who have committed felonies or multiple misdemeanors is a threat to their safety."

Why Did The Messiah Have to Die?

Jesus Christ gave His life for the sins of all humanity. But why did He have to die so that we could live? Wasn't there some other way?







Source: 123RFLet's start with the basics of God vs. evil. CAUTION: These concepts may offend today's secular sensitivities, but that doesn't change the truth.



God exists. God is good. In fact, God is love—genuine, heartfelt, outgoing concern for others (1 John 4:8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.



See All..., 16). There is nothing bad—nothing sinful, sinister or evil—about God.



God is eternal and infinite. John 1:1-2 [1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

[2] The same was in the beginning with God.





See All... tells us: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." God has always been. We are so tiny and finite that we can't fully comprehend that, but it remains a fact nevertheless.



By "God" in that scripture, the apostle John meant God the Father, with Jesus Christ as the "Word." Sometimes in the Bible "God" refers to either of Them or to both in unity. Together They form the one and only Kingdom or family of God. The apostle Paul wrote, "For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named" (Ephesians 3:14-15 [14] For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

[15] Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

God is all-powerful. One of His titles in Hebrew is El-Shaddai —often translated as God Almighty. By His infinite power, God made everything—yes, every thing! God made the universe, the sun, the moon, our planet Earth. God created all other life forms—angel, man, animal and vegetable. "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men" (John 1:3-4 [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

[4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

In short, the very reason that God created people was to offer us eternal life in the Kingdom of God as part of that great, loving, always-good divine family! That's why we were born.



But how do we get there? God is absolutely perfect—and we are very, very far from perfect. Yet there must be a way.



The basics of law, sin and death

Just as God exists, law exists—both physical and spiritual—because God, as the Lawgiver, established it. Law holds matter together, brings order to the universe and governs moral conduct among human beings.



The Ten Commandments sum up God's spiritual law. The law brilliantly defines the perfect, loving, wonderful character of the true God of the Bible. But here's a sad fact: Even atheists believe in law—like the laws of physics—but they don't know how to explain its existence because, well, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, they're atheists.



Here's the deal about God's law. To transgress or break that divine law is called sin (see 1 John 3:4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.



See All..., King James Version). We've all done that: "As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one . . . For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:



See All..., 23, emphasis added). So where does that leave us?



We want to live—God made us that way. But if you sin, you die. As Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.



See All... states, "For the wages of sin is death . . ." Yet the same verse continues, ". . . but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." So how do you lose the death penalty and get to live forever as God's gift through Christ? Great question!



In the film National Treasure a law was broken, and the FBI agent tells the lead character, "Someone has to go to prison." Likewise, because each of us has broken God's law—sinned—somebody has to die.



What about those animal sacrifices?

In the Old Testament God gave ancient Israel a priesthood who offered animal sacrifices when people sinned. From statements in the New Testament it appears that a common assumption in Jesus' time was that the animal sacrifices served to appease justice in the matter of human sin.



To many it was unthinkable that a person , the Messiah, would come to die in their place—especially through the disgraceful death of crucifixion like a common criminal! They anticipated a dynamic conquering king-messiah who would make other people die—like their Roman overlords—and make their nation of Israel great again.



So they missed the point that animal sacrifices could not and cannot substitute as the penalty for human sin (see Hebrews 10:4For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

It's not that complicated

God's law is the law. Death is the penalty for violating that law—sin. We have sinned, so someone has to die. But it must be a human death—either our own or the death of another without sin who, out of supreme love for others, volunteered to sacrifice His life to pay our death penalty. Jesus said it: "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends" (John 15:13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

But the penalty for the sins of all human beings had to be paid by a sinless human being whose life was more valuable than that of the entire human race—that is, a human being who was also the Creator God, the One who made humankind.



Only Jesus Christ, the true Messiah, lived a sinless human life (meaning He never broke the law and thus incurred no personal death penalty for sin). Only His life as both divine and human was of greater value than all human life that could ever exist. That's why He called Himself the "Son of Man" and the "Son of God" (for prime examples where Jesus spoke of Himself like this, compare John 5:27And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.



See All... with John 5:25Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

The bottom line

God is the God of true justice, and justice must be served. All mankind has broken God's perfect law. His law can't be done away with by clever arguments, nor can its penalty be ignored—because God meant what He said . His law is the law.



But God is also the God of love and mercy. Somebody had to die for my sins, and yours, and everyone's. And thankfully, Somebody—Jesus Christ—did! Personally, I've come to gratefully accept that. Have you?

Turkey refuses U.S. request to mend relations with Israel


Rapidly re-Islamizing Turkey doesn't want peace with Israel. "US asks Turkey for help with ME peace process," from the Jerusalem Post, March 16 (thanks to Joshua):



US Secretary of State John Kerry called his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu this week, asking for Turkey's help in restarting the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, Turkish daily Hurriyet reported on Saturday.

Turkey turned down the request citing bad relations between Ankara and Jerusalem and saying the responsibility to fix the murky relations between the two countries falls on Israel.



Relations between Jerusalem and what was once its only Muslim ally crumbled after Israeli marines raided the Mavi Marmara ship in May 2010 to enforce a naval blockade of the Gaza Strip and killed nine Turks in clashes with activists on board.



The rift has continued despite US efforts to encourage a rapprochement between the two regional powers whose cooperation it needs to address changes sweeping the Middle East.



"Turkey is always ready to do whatever it needs for a fair two-state solution based on the 1967 borders,” Davutoglu said during a joint press conference with Kerry in Ankara on March 1.



"If Israel wants to hear positive statements from Turkey, it needs to review its attitude. It needs to review its attitude toward us, and it needs to review its attitude toward the people in the region and especially the West Bank settlements issue," the Turkish foreign minister said.



A Turkish official speaking to Hurriyet has accused Jerusalem of blocking attempts to restore relations with Ankara....

Book Review - Escape from Camp 14: One Man's Remarkable Odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West


The amazing story of a man born in a labor camp, his escape and his life afterward.



 Imagine if the concentration camps that the Nazis ran were still up and running. And instead of being a place where the racist Aryan German Nazis worked Jews to death, it was Aryan German Nazis working other Aryan German Nazis to death. No racism involved, just control and hatred.



Such is life in the labor camps of North Korea, which have been in operation for 60 years. Places where enemies of the state are sent to basically work until they die. But instead of being able to simply die, they're matched up in marriages arranged by the prison guards, so that they bear children who will work their entire lives in order to pay for the sins of their parents. Prisoners are punished to the third and fourth generation.



Plenty of North Koreans escape the control of their country, seeking refuge in South Korea, China and other countries. But very few, if any, have ever escaped the labor camps. And no one who was ever born in one has escaped. That is, until Shin Dong-hyuk escaped in 2005.



This book tells of the unbelievable, awful, outrageous humiliation, torture, inhumanity and pain that Shin underwent in Camp 14. It describes the cruelty of the guards and the inhuman, animalistic nature that children born in the camps develop just to survive. It also tells of his escape, and his life after the camp.



My consistent thought while reading this book was how nothing but God's judgment on those in North Korea who are so cruel to fellow human beings could ever suffice in bringing final justice; and nothing but God's unending mercy, love and grace will ever suffice in restoring humanity to the victims who endure or have endured it.



God's Kingdom come quickly.

Republican National Committee recommendations would mean TRILLIONS in additional tax burden.

A Republican National Committee report states:




"...we must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform..."

"...We also believe that comprehensive immigration reform is consistent with Republican economic policies that promote job growth and opportunity for all..."



The report was authored by Henry Barbour, Sally Bradshaw, Ari Fleischer, Zori Fonalledas, and Glenn McCall.

The authors do not specify what kind of "comprehensive immigration reform" they think the GOP should champion but the phrase usually means (1) amnesty for illegal aliens; and (2) increases in legal immigration above the current one million per year.



Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation says the comprehensive immigration proposal of the Gang of 8 could cost as much or more than the $2.6 trillion estimated cost of the defeated 2007 Bush/McCain/Kennedy bill. That works out to $8,280 per American, or $33,000 for a family of four.



According to Rector, American taxpayers already pay $89.1 billion in taxes for 4.5 million low-skilled (parent did not complete high school) households containing 15.9 million immigrants (both legal and illegal). Immigrant men are more likely than U.S.-born men to have a job, but because immigrant men tend to earn less, their families are more likely to use one or more form of welfare assistance. ("Immigrants in the United States: A Profile of America's Foreign-Born Population," Camarota, 2012).



In "GOP Can't Win Latinos Over Immigration," National Journal corresponded Matthew Cooper makes a convincing case that saddling Americans with trillions of dollars of tax burden would do little to improve the GOP's standing with Latino voters.
