A week ago, I told you about Brenn, a 15-year old who spends her free time praying outside her local Planned Parenthood clinic (a clinic that was just shuttered last week, in part due to her efforts!).
Now I want to tell you about Samantha. She is 12 now, but she was 11 when she figured out what part she could play to help stop abortion in America.
She decided she should start writing letters to her state’s Congress. She sent out 165 letters, one for every senator and representative. In it, she pleaded with the congressional members to make abortion illegal, to return America to truly “one nation under God,” abiding by His commandment not to kill. She received 13 responses to her handwritten letter which is attached below.
She closed her letter by saying, “I might be small, but I can make a big difference if I try.”
























This year, she decided to write again, this time explaining the mother’s side of an abortion to the lawmakers. She imaginatively and accurately (according to my dear friends at Silent No More who are post-abortive) described an abortion experience from the mom’s perspective.
She again closed her letter by saying, “I might be small but I can make a difference if I try.”
Samantha has received a response from Texas Right to Life and also House Member Van Taylor who wants her to come meet with him to discuss ways they can both make a difference for life in Texas.

Her mom Tabbatha, who told LifeNews about her daughter’s efforts, says, “As her mother, I am incredibly proud of her desire to get involved, her dedication at such a young age to make a change, and her courage to take a stand for what she believes is right.”

On April 10, our opponents say, they will be busing tens of thousands of pro-amnesty protesters to Washington, D.C., to march on the Capitol. They will demand an immediate amnesty for (in many cases) themselves and other illegal aliens now residing in America, taking our jobs and drawing our benefits.


Here's our plan:




1. We'll visit local congressional offices.

The bill will legalize most of the 11 to 19 million illegal aliens. It will give eventual citizenship, including voting rights. And it would give them access to trillions of dollars of benefits (such as medicare, food stamps and social security).



3. On April 8-9, we'll make 30,000 phone calls.

Are You Worried About the Economy?

Personal and national fears, anxiety and anger skyrocketed over the past few weeks as American politicians fell to verbal blows.

Source: Jesse KuczynskiWhat's the source of this conflict? Whether to extend U.S. debt limits, cut spending and raise taxes. A Congressional compromise was barely reached in time, but many still fear that we're slipping back into global recession. The numbers of joblessness and debt are so large that they disorient our senses. How does this make you feel? Is the tottering economy keeping you up at night? Millions are having their share of sleepless times, but you don't need to join them.



Experts agree that the past decade of mind-numbing bust and boom, greed and fiscal gluttony has left consumers and investors alike with all-time record low levels of trust. Until trust levels rise and confidence begins to return, the threat of a double-dip recession remains. Given this, what are we supposed to do? Perhaps surprisingly, we all have our roles—even you right now can play a surprisingly positive part.



What can you do? Turn to God

For thousands of years, the answer to this question has lain before us. Even though the numbers are all-but-unimaginable, large-scale crisis of political and financial origin are scarcely new. Humans from every walk of life have faced deep crises before, and they will face them again.



Any crisis or challenge—even ones as global as we see today—generally includes some element of consequence. Many challenges or crises are largely self-inflicted. Clearly much of the global crisis that engulfed the planet over the past few years was the direct result of unchecked greed. Too many people tried to get rich at the expense of others, and the system failed.



The Bible, which chronicles human behavior according to the standards of a living God, shows time and time again that God allows trials to befall us to get our attention. If viewed properly, trials teach us wisdom and fashion within us precious godly character. They teach us to seek God, depend on Him for strength and answers, change to match His ways, and to be grateful for the many blessings that we receive. When we do this, we don't have to worry about the economy, whether local or global.



The apostle Paul—a man of God who had his own share of trials and challenges—urges us to turn our lives completely over to God, to offer ourselves totally and humbly as "living sacrifices" (Romans:12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service., New International Version). In doing so, we can find out what God's divine will is for this planet and for ourselves (verse 2).



And once we find out what God's will is for us, if we change and align ourselves with that powerful and loving will, we have nothing to fear. The Bible teaches and experience confirms that people who are yielded fully to God's will and have set themselves in motion to do it—these people experience a level of emotional and mental serenity that defies description. This active and living commitment produces a literal peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7).



Trust in God is the antidote for worry

For those worried about the economy, worried about their jobs or worried about what they may wear or eat, Jesus offered specific advice. As He told his followers—which includes us today—"Do not worry about your life" (Luke:12:22And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.). He magnified this by reminding us of our limited power: "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" (verses 25-26, emphasis added). Adding an hour of our individual lives is a big thing for humans. In fact, it's impossible! But for an all-powerful God, it's a "very little thing."



The point? If we're aligned with God's will and seeking to do it, God will take care of us. Concerning the physical things of this life, Jesus tells us that God the Father "knows that you need them" (verse 30). If our priorities are straight, then we have nothing to fear. As Jesus concluded in this passage: "But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well" (verse 31).



Are you still worried about the economy? Lots of people are. But if we are seeking the means to be of service, of learning of and then furthering God's will, we have unbreakable spiritual promises to rely on. You don't have to worry about the economy. As Paul instructs us today, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, NIV).



If we do this properly, even in the midst of global financial uncertainty and turmoil, we have this mighty promise: "My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). So stop worrying and start yielding to a God who loves you and cares for you!

Members of Congress Facing Immigration Questions During Summer Recess

Members of Congress Facing Immigration Questions During Summer Recess

With the exception of a quick special session by both the House and Senate to approve a $600 million supplemental spending bill to be used for border security, the month of August is typically used by Members of Congress to return to their home districts and reconnect with their constituents through Town Hall meetings. This August, Democrats and Republicans are facing questions from citizens in their district on the issue of immigration.

Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-Md.), who has the best career immigration-reduction grade from the Maryland delegation, an A, commented on border security and the 14th Amendment. On the issue of border security, Rep. Bartlett bragged about his voting record, which shows a history of him voting in favor of every bill that provides funding to build a border fence or sends troops to the border. On the issue of Birthright Citizenship and the 14th Amendment, Rep. Bartlett said, "I think this would be a reasonable debate to have."

Rep. Connie Mack (R-Fla.) came under some fire after Arizona passed its tough immigration enforcement law by writing a letter to Florida state legislators, urging them not to follow Arizona's example. While he did stand by his letter, he used one of his Town Hall meetings to publicly endorse Florida gubernatorial candidate Bill McCollum. McCullom is recommending that Florida pass legislation similar to Arizona.

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), who is one of the leading Democrats in reducing overall immigration numbers, said at one of his Town Hall meetings that attrition through enforcement is the way to go.

“Most people who are sneaking across the border — other than drug smugglers and potentially terrorists — are coming here to work. If you cut off what I call the employment magnet, then people are going to stop sneaking or paying people to bring them across the border," Rep. DeFazio said.

“If we strained out all the people who are sneaking in to get work, then you're suddenly only dealing with criminals. That becomes an easier thing to deal with in terms of a law enforcement issue and the use of force against these people.”

Another leading Democrat on the issue, Rep. Bobby Bright (D-Ala.), said other immigration issues can't be addressed until the border is secured.

"What we do is secure the border first. We have to do that. Let's take some of our resources coming back from Iraq and maybe even some of those heading over to Afghanistan and maybe look at taking those and applying them to border security. If we can get a handle on that, then we can look at what to do with those who are already here illegally."

Rep. Bright has been inconsistent with his opinion of Arizona's immigration law, but he clarified his position at a recent Town Hall meeting. He had issues with the law as it was first written, but he said when the Arizona legislature clarified the law, requiring officers to check immigration status only with individuals who they have stopped, detained, or arrested, he said that change made up his mind.

"When they did that, that removed any concern I had and I said 'bingo', let's go with it."

First-term Rep. Tom Perriello (D-Va.) also dealt with questions regarding immigration during his recent meetings with constituents in southern Virginia. Rep. Perriello is in serious jeopardy of losing his re-election bid this fall. He referred questions regarding illegal immigration to the 1,500 troops Pres. Obama plans to send to the Southwest border and defended high levels of legal immigration.

"Legal immigration is important. We shouldn't punish people who are playing by the rules."

The infamous Berlin Wall "fell" 20 years ago on Nov. 9, 1989.

Actually the entire "iron curtain" dividing Europe was falling in 1989. Until then, the Soviet-controlled nations enforced severe restrictions on their citizens, preventing most emigration and even travel to the West. The iron curtain served to keep people in and information out.Many factors contributed to the opening of the borders, but a key element was the result of growing pressure from millions of subjugated people yearning to be free. Through the "curtain" they managed to get glimpses of life in free countries. They were especially inspired by the sweet land of liberty, the United States.

On Nov. 11, the United States and many other nations honor their veterans who fought and died defending freedom. How tragic if we are giving away what they sought to save.

Based on freedom

The United States was founded as a republic based on a constitution designed to protect individual freedom. The preamble of the U.S. Constitution states its purpose as "to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."Most founders believed in the combination of individual liberty plus responsible self-governance based on the Bible. For example, James Madison, a primary framer of the U.S. Constitution and fourth president, said: "We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."

The authors of the Constitution would be shocked to see how far our country has departed from our founding charter and from the morals taught by the Bible.

Repeating the mistakes of history?

The survival of a democracy depends on a well-informed and moral electorate. Today, the average American neglects the Bible and its teachings. Public school teachers are not allowed to include the biblical perspective, and the subjects of history, civics and economics are often seriously neglected.Without knowledge of the past, people are doomed to repeat the tragic mistakes. Voters are seduced by promises of short-range benefits, not realizing how their votes will harm future generations. They sacrifice liberties for "pork barrel" promises.

They fail to see that government has nothing to give that it doesn't first take away from taxpayers (or future taxpayers). And once a government program is instituted, it's almost impossible to eliminate it. God warned that when men set up a government rejecting Him, there is a price to pay (1 Samuel 8:6-18).

Americans losing freedom for over a century

For the first 100 years, the U.S. government did little to expand its powers beyond what was clearly allowed by the Constitution. Then a change in thinking began about 1900. It was the growing belief that the federal government should step in and try to "fix" any problem that its leaders saw.Since 1900, almost every U.S. administration (of both political parties) has expanded the role of the government. Some historians make the point that virtually all government-run programs mean more bureaucracy, more taxes, more complex regulations, less freedom and fewer incentives. The Bible explains that going into debt means giving up future freedoms (Proverbs 22:7).

We are in danger of losing personal and religious liberties needed to peacefully lead a godly life, earn a living and preach the gospel. That's why Paul urged God's people to be praying for "all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:2).

The ultimate lesson

America has enjoyed unprecedented freedoms and prosperity, although many people fear we are losing both. Few recognize the real source of those blessings. The Bible reveals that they are not a result of any superiority of Americans, but are because of the blessing of God. No political ideology has fully followed the ways of God. And the growing sins of America are wearing thin the patience of the One who blessed us. America has not been the "shining city on a hill" we were called to be. Storm clouds of national punishment are on the horizon.Thankfully, the Bible reveals good news on beyond the prophesied times of trouble. The true last best hope for man is the return of Christ. His perfect government will provide true freedom for all the world!

Together, with the doctors of Take Back Medicine and the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, the Patriots of Tea Party Patriots Live, Resistnet, and the Tea Party Express, are going to STAND TOGETHER, speak from the heart, and remind Washington we will stand together to protect this country!

On Thursday, November 5th, Representative Michele Bachman (MN) will stand on the steps of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. She will be joined by other Members of Congress and many Patriots from across this country. People will be traveling from coast to coast, to stand shoulder to shoulder with other Patriots in Washington this week.

We know most of you can’t get to Washington again so soon…..
So let’s join Representative Bachman and other Patriots by turning out at State Capitols and Congressional district offices across the country.

Instead of yelling or protesting, let’s sing “God Bless America” at 12:30 pm EST at every location across the country. Let’s send a message that says “WE STAND TOGETHER!”

Bash the Bailout: Government is Not the Answer

The bailout bill that passed through Congress today seeks to solve the financial mess by massively increasing government involvement in private finance. But more Government cannot be the answer to a government-created problem. The fact is that short-sighted government policies distorted the market in the first place. Bankers were certainly to blame for responding to these signals from government in the hope of a quick buck, but at its base, much of the problem was caused by government.
These are the top twelve articles, stories and papers that we think demonstrate this fact.
1. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are at the heart of the crisis, having helped to create an artificial mortgage boom. Fred Smith warned Congress about this in 2000, and was ridiculed for it. Read what happened here.
2. Steven Malanga outlines the “long road to slack lending standards” and just how government encouraged this, at RealClearMarkets.
3. Thomas Sowell explains how economic-populist politicians used their power to help create the problem.

The bailout bill is now law, but it does little or nothing to solve the problems government created. As long as they persist, the financial markets will be at serious risk. In the end, we may need to bailout the bailout. Fixing these government-imposed problems must be a priority now if we want to have a strong, free economy.

Cell Phone Gouging

I wanted to send you this article about cell phone prices. I wonder how many people are not able to afford to pay their other bills because of the expense of cell phone prices. And Yet, we don't hear anything about Cell Phone Companies being charged with gouging. I hope you find this interesting.

Paying Too Much for Cell Phones

My wife and I love our cell phones. We had been with this company for 4 years, and we were paying as much as $275 a month for service.
Since graduating from Financial Peace University, we have been whittling away our budget to gain more debt money. Over the previous 3 months we were making changes to our service, bringing our monthly bill to around $135. The customer service rep on the phone gave me a great idea of deleting the special "push-to-talk" feature (which we didn't use) in order to save $10 per month on each line, bringing our monthly bill within our budget amount. Excellent! Let's do it! Two days later, we received a package containing two new phones with instructions on activating them. We were all happy and life was good until the following month when the bill arrived for $532.38.
Upgrade fee: $18
Equipment: $196.46
New plan (partial month): $111.99
New plan (month in advance): $136.49
Tax: $69.44
Not reading the fine print: PRICELESS. Now my new plan is more expensive, and in order to get out of it there is a $200 (per line) early termination fee. We don't like our cell phones as much now.

The last two weeks have seen the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression hit the United States. Large Wall Street financial firms went bankrupt and the government nationalized others. The stock market lost nearly a thousand points and gained most of it back in less than a week of trading. Panic and fear seized the markets, prompting massive government intervention.What is behind this crisis? What does it mean for the future of America and its role in the world? The most vital question is, what should you be doing in these turbulent times?It is a long and complicated trail backwards to understand the source and cause of this present crisis. Beyond the accusations and sensational charges being lobbed back and forth is a tale of unregulated greed. One headline in the Financial Times said, “This greed was beyond irresponsible” (John Gapper, Sept. 17, 2008). Even today legislation to deal with the crisis is being held up over alarm at paying failed executives millions of dollars in severance packages. Greed, mismanagement and incompetence have combined on Wall Street to create a crisis that will likely lead to a recession.America is still the key player in the global economy. It is the largest consumer market, and the dollar is still the world’s reserve currency. Last week central banks around the world were buying and providing dollars to keep business going in their sectors. The world cannot afford to let America fail. They hold too much of its debt, and Americans consume many of the goods manufactured in their workshops and defend the skies and seas, keeping the world safe from anarchy, chaos and dictatorship. Everyone loves to bash the United States, but it is presently the indispensable element in the world system.America has taken a staggering economic blow, but it still stands. It will likely recover but it may not be the same in its world standing. The world has the perception of weakness and sometimes perception translates into reality. The European Union and nations like China, India, Brazil and Russia are not going to let the global economy remain dependent on the weaknesses of America’s economy. Look for these nations to work toward a solution that creates a larger and more powerful economic system.The United States has been in relative decline for some time while other nations have been rising in economic and political significance. We are moving closer to the time described in Revelation 18 when a super economic system described as Babylon will dominate world headlines.This is not “just another” economic crisis that we can ignore while we go about our consumer-driven comfortable lives. Real changes are coming to pass that will impact America’s standard of living and place in the world. America is not “just another” large empire that will one day pass from the scene like all the others in history. America, like its cousin Great Britain, has occupied its unique role in history because of the promises God made to Abraham of astounding national blessings. These have been realized in these two nations in modern times and the world has been the better for it. The decline of their blessing and influence in the world, also prophesied by God because of sin and moral failure, will change the course of the coming years.It is time you focused on this fact and awakened to the reality that the Great God controls the destiny of nations. This current crisis is significant and will mark a milestone in prophetic events. While we need to try to manage our finances in ways to protect ourselves and our families, the most important thing you can do is wake up to the urgency of the times and understand them from God’s perspective.It is time you and I examine whether we have been guilty of neglecting God and making idols of wealth, culture and people, and even ourselves, thus becoming blinded to the true God. I can think of nothing more important for you to do than repent and acknowledge God in your life. This is a very serious time in our generation. It is good to have an explaination as to how and why some of the things that are going on in this present age are happening and getting some of these books from the library or bookstore to read on your next vacation might be something worth doing.

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com Some parents who are concerned about their children receiving a steady diet of liberal-left indoctrination in schools and colleges regard vacation as a time to show these young people a different way of looking at things, with readings presenting viewpoints that are unlikely to be heard in classrooms that have become indoctrination centers.
Fortunately, there is a growing body of literature — both books and articles — presenting a very different viewpoint in readable language.
The academic year often ends with commencement speakers who have been in government, academia, foundations or various crusading movements, who tell the graduates how much nobler it is to go into such organizations, rather than into business.
Such self-flattering talk is seldom challenged by educators. But an outstanding recent book, "The Best-Laid Plans" by Randal O'Toole, gives a richly documented account of government actions and their consequences, and shows a far from flattering side of politicians, "experts," and environmentalists— who have ruined cities and suburbs in countries around the world.

Highly praised projects created by leading "experts" have repeatedly led to economic and social disasters, whether in Europe or the United States. The fundamental problem is that people don't want to live the way elites want them to live.
A classic example was the Pruitt-Igoe project in St. Louis, which had an extraordinary vacancy rate of 25 percent, rising eventually to 65 percent, before the whole project was demolished.
But, tragically, the assumptions behind such projects have not been demolished.
One statistic in "The Best-Laid Plans" shoots down one of the biggest lies of the environmentalist movement— that laws are needed to keep development from paving over the last remnants of open space. That statistic is that all the urban areas in the United States, put together, cover less than 3 percent of the land.
This statistic is all the more remarkable when you realize that O'Toole uses the Census definition of "urban"— any community with at least 2,500 people. That would include towns and villages, as well as cities.
Another remarkable and eye-opening book is "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg. So many liberals use the term "fascism" to condemn conservative ideas that it may come as a revelation to many that the original fascism was in fact a doctrine having far more in common with the left than with conservatism.

While people on the left may deny that today, when fascism first emerged back in the 1920s it was widely recognized as a kindred doctrine by the leftists of that era.
Only after the international aggressions of Mussolini and Hitler during the 1930s made them pariahs did the left start reclassifying fascists as being on the right.
Since this is an election year, there may be more interest than usual in Barack Obama. Best-selling author Shelby Steele's book on Obama, titled "A Bound Man," gives both facts and insights that will take the reader far deeper than most media accounts.

Among my own books, the one that will probably be of the most interest to young people with no knowledge of economics is "Basic Economics." Apparently many people find it easier to understand than most economics books, since it has been translated into six other languages overseas.

My latest book on economics, however, is the recently published "Economic Facts and Fallacies." In Unhinged: Liberals Gone Wild It looks in-depth at fallacies about such things as housing, income, race, sex discrimination, the economics of academia and the Third World.

Fallacies are not just crazy ideas. Usually they are notions that sound very plausible, which is what enables them to be used by politicians, intellectuals, the media, and all sorts of crusading movements, to advance their causes or their careers.
It is precisely because most of the popular fallacies of our time, which are always especially popular during election years, sound so plausible that we need to stop, before we get swept along by rhetoric, and scrutinize the underlying flaws that turn brilliant-sounding "solutions" into recipes for disaster.
