Editorial: Can Obamacare be repealed with the highway bill?

Editorial

Last week Senator Ted Cruz received flak for opposing the Export-Import Bank renewal with the Highway Bill. Now the Tea Party Patriots is proposing using that same Highway Bill as a vehicle to eliminate Obamacare. In a presidential election season and with both houses in GOP hands, would this work?

http://www.teapartypatriots.org/

Have you heard the latest about the Highway Bill in the Senate? Thanks to the tireless work of Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), we now have a very realistic shot of repealing Obamacare.
Call both of your Senators today and tell them to support Mike Lee's efforts to repeal Obamacare today!
Call 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Senators' offices orvisit our website to lookup your Senators.
Yesterday the Senate rejected an amendment to the Highway Bill that would have fully repealed Obamacare. That amendment failed to reach the 60-vote threshold it needed to advance. But here's where things get interesting. Under the Senate rules, a Senator may refile the amendment on the basis that it is "germane" (or relevant) to the Highway Bill. The Chair of the Senate will most likely reject the amendment, arguing that an Obamacare repeal amendment is not related to the underlying bill. This is where we have a unique opportunity. Sen. Lee would formally object to the ruling, which allows a simple majority (only 51 votes) to overturn the decision of the chair.

This is a complicated procedural maneuver, but we are confident that we can win with the 51-vote threshold. Please call both of your United States Senators today and urge them to vote for Sen. Lee's appeal to overturn the Chair's decision and allow for another vote on the Obamacare repeal amendment.

Please call, email, and communicate on social media with both of your Senators throughout the day!

Our best chance to repeal Obamacare is TODAY!

Sen. Sessions: Obama’s SOTU Immigration, Worker Agendas At Odds

A very interesting post from www.NumbersUSA.com about the State of the Union address. This follows this post about John Boehner's immigration push. REMEMBER, “Amnesty” means ANY non-enforcement of existing immigration laws! This follows this comment and this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! Update

Sen. Sessions: Obama’s SOTU Immigration, Worker Agendas At Odds

Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., published an op-ed in USA Today that criticizes President Obama for pushing Republicans to pass an immigration reform plan that hurts American workers while claiming to be concerned about their plight. He called upon Republicans to set aside the demands of business groups and “stand alone as the one party defending the legitimate interests of American workers” in the immigration context.
The following are excerpts from his op-ed.
“In Tuesday's State of the Union address, President Obama is expected to discuss the plight of American workers. At the same time, he is pushing Republicans to pass an immigration plan making the problem worse by increasing the flow of immigrant workers to compete against unemployed Americans and those struggling to get by in low-wage jobs. Yet, alarmingly, the move is regarded as a part of Obama's agenda that has a chance of becoming law.
“House Republicans should reply to the president's immigration effort with a simple message: Our first duty is to help struggling Americans find good work and rising wages.
“So what is the president's proposal? With three job seekers for every open job, he proposes doubling the number of guest workers entering every year, granting immediate work permits to millions of illegal immigrants, and tripling the number of new immigrants granted permanent residency over the next decade.
“Did anyone ask the American people whether they wanted to triple immigration? Polling shows that the public opposes these increases. The opposition is particularly strong among lower- and middle-income Americans. Those earning under $30,000 prefer a reduction to an increase by 3-1.
“Republicans have the opportunity to give voice to the working and middle-class Americans whose wages and job prospects have eroded drastically in recent years. House GOP leaders are reportedly planning to release their "immigration principles" this week. Unfortunately, leaks reveal the leaders' plan mirrors central elements of the president's plan, combining work permits for millions of illegal immigrants with large permanent increases in the flow of new workers from abroad. This would be an extraordinary act of self-sabotage.
“The choice is clear. Either the GOP can help the White House deliver a crushing hammer blow to the middle class — or it can stand alone as the one party defending the legitimate interests of American workers.”
In an interview with Breitbart News Sunday Sen. Sessions said the Chamber of Commerce wing of the Republican party no longer understands what the American people actually want. “They’re using rhetoric and logic from groups that are not in touch with reality,” Sessions said. “They’re not talking to average working Americans who we are elected to serve. We’re not here elected to serve just big business. We’re here to serve all Americans, and there’s no doubt about it that consistently data shows this immigration plan that would grant amnesty to 11 million and double the annual flow of workers into the country would hammer working Americans so we’re going to try to get out some information again this week on that."
Sen. Sessions said right now, Republicans’ negotiations with Democrats have focused on trading amnesty for an increased labor supply that Chamber of Commerce clients and other business interests want.”And let me tell you what, it really shocks me and it’s why I’m so worried about what the House is doing this week with their ‘principles,’” Sessions said. “Good Republicans in the House seem to believe that if they go into negotiations with Democrats, their goal is to increase the guest worker program even more. If they can get the guest worker immigration status and increase it even more, they will give even more generous amnesty. That’s been the state of a good bit of the negotiations, amazingly.”
At the end of the interview, Sen. Sessions asked Americans to contact their Members of Congress and urged opposition to the Obama and House Republican leadership immigration plans.

UPDATED: 2013 Youth Misery Index (YMI) Released

A timely post about from www.Yaf.org about the Youth Misery Index. This follows this post about multiculturalism in society.  In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.

YAF's Public Relations Officer, Ashley Pratte on Fox & Friends talking about the YMI!
Click here to watch the segment!
YMI2013TotalYoung America’s Foundation has released its Youth Misery Index (YMI) numbers for 2013, and it’s a record high of 98.6. The Youth Misery Index (YMI) is calculated by adding youth unemployment, student loan debt, and national debt (per capita) numbers.  Young people are experiencing hardships like never before under the Obama administration, and this generation is plagued by the burden of massive government debt.

Youth unemployment in 2013 was 16.3 percent, with almost six million young people between the ages of 16 and 24 not in school or work.  Many young people are simply giving up on finding employment.
Student loan debt for 2013 rings in at a record-breaking $29,400 (29.4 on YMI).  Student debt has risen at an average of six percent per year since 2008.
National debt per capita for 2013 is the highest it’s ever been at $52,948 (52.9 on YMI).  Young people will be stuck paying for government debt they had no part in creating, and they’ll have to do it with less discretionary income than ever before because of record high levels of student loan debt.
Add it all up and the YMI comes out to an astonishing 98.6.  With the growing presence of government in our daily lives, there appears to be a statistically significant relationship between government expenditures and the YMI.  Under the Obama administration alone, the YMI has increased by 18.1 percent, the highest increase under any President, making Obama the worst President for youth economic opportunity—not quite the hope and change many young people were looking for.

Obama's Liberal Puppet, John Boehner, Is Destroying America‏

A timely post about from HTTPS://PrayFor.US about problems from John Boehner. This follows this post about beheadings in Brazil in the run-up to the World Cup.  In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.
Obama's Liberal Puppet, John Boehner, Is Destroying America

It's now clear that the House of Representatives, which has a Republican majority, is actually being controlled by Obama.
America will continue to be dragged down into the sewers as long as Obama's liberal puppet, John Boehner, is the Speaker of the House.
This man had the audacity, after Christians and conservatives spoke out against the liberal GOP leadership's budget farce, to say that we are "ridiculous" and that we've "lost all credibility."
By supporting this bloated budget with its fake cuts and tax increases, Boehner has proven once again that he is not a conservative, or even an American, in his political outlook.
He is an internationalist one-worlder like Obama, who wants to crush the American economy so that we can become a United Nations lapdog protectorate, ruled by the liberal communist intelligentsia.
It's time for this liberal wolf in sheep's clothing to go! You must send FaxGrams to the House Tea Party Caucus today, or to the full GOP Caucus, and demand that they force John Boehner to resign as Speaker of the House!

Boehner says that conservatives have lost all credibility.
That's rich, coming from a man who has helped to oversee our national debt increasing by more than $6 TRILLION since he's been the supposedly "conservative" Speaker of the House.
Perhaps if we had an actual conservative working as the Speaker of the House, instead of Obama's liberal puppet Boehner, we would be able to start cutting wasteful government spending and reduce our $50+ trillion national debt (including unfunded liabilities).
Instead, we have John Boehner leading the Republican majority in the House, so we're stuck paying for Obamacare, subsidized abortions, sex changes for Democrats, death panels, bailouts for phony solar power plants, billions of dollars in boxes of cash to the Muslim Brotherhood...
We could go on and on and on with the things that Congress has passed under Boehner's watchful, teary, liberal puppet eyes, but the list would be too long for this message.
The House is supposed to control the purse-strings in Washington, but they've been giving Obama everything that he wants since Boehner became Speaker.
Oh, and one more thing. Washington insiders say that Boehner is waiting until after the state filing deadlines to run for office have passed, and then he's going to push amnesty through the House. He's waiting until it is too late for strong Christians and Tea Party candidates to register to run against him and his RINO allies next year.
It's just one more betrayal on the horizon if we allow this man to continue as Speaker of the House.
You've got to send FaxGrams to the House Tea Party Caucus today. Tell them to call for John Boehner's resignation as Speaker!
Boehner is both politically and biblically unfit to serve as the leader of the Republican-controlled House, which is why Pray For US is demanding his resignation.
Exodus 18:21 describes God's requirements for civil magistrates or representatives for the people:  "You shall provide out of all the people able men, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, and rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens."
God demands that representatives of the people must be honest and truthful, so that justice and our laws are not perverted.
We must demand these qualities of our elected officials or we are never going to regain God's blessings on our nation.
Boehner is an enemy of the Gospel and he is crushing the Body of Christ under Obama's agenda.
Tell the Republicans in the House to replace John Boehner today! We demand a conservative American to lead the House!
Send Faxes Now Image
God never asks His people to hide their eyes or duck their heads in the sand when they are confronted with evil.  We must not sit idly by and put our faith in politics or the next election to turn things around.
We must have a living faith and show that through our works! (James Chapter 2)
If you have any family members, friends or acquaintances who are fed up with John Boehner acting as Obama's puppet, please send them this link:
And if you have a conservative Representative in your congressional district, please call him or her after you've sent your FaxGrams. The number to the House switchboard in Washington, D.C. is 202-224-3121.

Iran foreign minister says nuclear deal dead if US passes new sanctions

Iran foreign minister says nuclear deal dead if US passes new sanctions

Zarif.jpgZarif: Don't you dare, kuffar

Please pass new sanctions. "Iran foreign minister says nuclear deal dead if US passes new sanctions," by Arshad Mohammed for Reuters, December 9 (thanks to Kenneth):
WASHINGTON — Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said the Iranian nuclear deal would be dead if the U.S. Congress imposes new sanctions, even if they do not take effect for six months, Time Magazine said on Monday. In a transcript of the interview, which was conducted on Saturday and posted online on Monday, Time said it asked Zarif what happens if Congress imposes new sanctions, even if they do not go into effect for six months.
According to the magazine, he replied: "The entire deal is dead." Zarif was referring to a Nov. 24 agreement with six world powers under which Tehran would curb its nuclear program in exchange for limited relief from economic sanctions.
"We do not like to negotiate under duress," Zarif added. "If Congress adopts sanctions, it shows lack of seriousness and lack of a desire to achieve a resolution on the part of the United States.
"I know the domestic complications and various issues inside the United States, but for me that is no justification. I have a parliament. My parliament can also adopt various legislation that can go into effect if negotiations fail," he added. "But if we start doing that, I don't think that we will be getting anywhere."...

Six Senators Question DHS Nominee on Lack of Immigration Enforcement

Six Senators Question DHS Nominee on Lack of Immigration Enforcement

posted on NumbersUSA
Six GOP Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary nominee Jeh Johnson about the administration's lack of enforcing immigration laws. The Senators posed more than 50 questions asking Johnson for his opinion on how former Secretary, Janet Napolitano, dealt with enforcement and whether or not he would pursue a more aggressive approach to enforcement.
The letter was signed by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Jon Cornyn (R-Texas). Not suprisingly, the letter was not signed by the two GOP committee members who cosponsored the Schumer-Rubio amnesty bill - Sentators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).
"At your confirmation hearing, you stated that, '[I]f confirmed, I will work to implement all legislation enacted into law,' the letter reads. "While we may have different views than President Obama on how to reform our immigration system, we have all repeatedly expressed our strong disapproval of the refusal of this administration -- and DHS in particular -- to enforce our immigration laws, contradicting duly enacted federal law through administrative orders and internal memoranda.

"These actions have eroded the rule of law and undermined Americans' confidence in their government. We hope you will commit to discontinuing these lawless policies if confirmed."

HANG ONE, TO ENCOURAGE THE OTHERS

BLOGGERS NOTE: I WILL BE MOVING FROM FACEBOOK TO TWITTER AND BLOGSPOT SOON!
A timely post about from www.anncoulter.com about Republican election losses. This follows this post about an attempt to fight anti-white policies. In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.

One of the most effective ways of discouraging people is to make them think there's absolutely nothing they can do about something, anyway. Thus, liberals have tried to insinuate that Obamacare is impossible to remove, hoping conservatives will despair.

But with only one-half of one branch of government, Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and the House Republicans have made it absolutely clear that Republicans are not giving up on repealing Obamacare. Inasmuch as "bubonic plague" is polling higher than "Obamacare," I'd say this is a brilliant marketing strategy for the GOP.

Unlike every other idiotic government program ever foisted on us by the Democrats, this time Republicans are not rolling over on this illegitimately passed, disastrous legislation. Give Republicans a veto-proof majority in the Senate, America, and they will rid us of this plague. (Without even charging a co-pay!)

Not only that, but Republicans have exposed Democrats as hypocrites who are forcing the rest of the country to live under Obamacare, while shutting down the government rather than live under it themselves.

With any luck, the Obama-Reid government shutdown -- as Sean Hannity calls it -- has also impressed upon Republicans the importance of winning elections.

Whatever cavils and objections liberals have to the Republicans' majority in the House, the Democrats' Senate majority certainly does not reflect the popular will. At least nine sitting Democratic senators have asterisks by their names, indicating seats given away by Republicans through unforced errors.

The only thing the Democrats' majority demonstrates is the stunning incompetence, stupidity and malfeasance of the Republican Party.

Here are a few Senate seats recently sacrificed by Republicans.

In 2008, career prosecutors in George W. Bush's Department of Justice convicted Republican senator Ted Stevens of Alaska for various corruption offenses just weeks before the election. The prosecution was so sleazy that not only was the conviction thrown out, but the indictment was tossed -- by Obama's Justice Department, no less.

Too late! Stevens had already lost his re-election. The winning Democrat will now hold that seat in perpetuity.

If that were ever done to a Democrat, the prosecutors' names would be known by every American, objects of obloquy worse than "Halliburton." But there's no cost to throwing a Republican senator's election.

That's one Senate seat.

Also in 2008, Democrats openly stole a Senate election for Al Franken in Minnesota right under the nose of Republican governor Tim "Blood and Guts" Pawlenty. You don't have to be like the Democrats and steal elections, Republicans, but can you at least stop letting them be stolen?

That's two Senate seats.

Then there are the races where Republicans were screwed by campaign consultants more interested in being able to buy another vacation home than winning elections -- as described in my new book, Never Trust a Liberal Over Three-Especially a Republican.
Republican campaign consultants ran Linda McMahon for the Senate from Connecticut in 2010, and then -- to pay off the mortgage -- again in 2012.

McMahon is an American patriot who spent a lot of her own money to beat a Democrat. Unfortunately, she never had a chance to win a statewide election in Connecticut, as anyone with half a brain knew. (See my multiple columns screaming this fact from the rooftops before she won the nominations with the help of her high-priced consultants.)

Former congressman Rob Simmons could have won either of those Senate races in Connecticut. He had been elected to the House from a swing district in 2000, beating an incumbent Democrat, then held his seat for six years, losing in 2006 by about three votes. He's a Haverford College graduate, was an Army colonel who served in Vietnam, worked at the CIA and taught at Yale. That's a candidate Connecticut soccer moms would love.

But if Simmons had won the nomination, how would Republican campaign consultants be able to retire early? They wanted a money-bags candidate, not a winner.

Running McMahon in Connecticut was not a mistake -- it was a betrayal of the Republican Party by political consultants who wanted to line their bank accounts instead of backing a winner.

Republican political consultants did the exact same thing with another great patriot, John Raese, in West Virginia. West Virginians heard Raese had homes in Palm Beach and Telluride and didn't believe he was one of them. Political consultants heard he had homes in Palm Beach and Telluride and started shopping for Jaguars.

Poor Raese has spent a lot of his own money to lose four statewide elections in conservative West Virginia, including the 2010 and 2012 U.S. Senate elections.

Those races alone amount to at least three and maybe four more Senate seats Republicans should have picked up from Connecticut and West Virginia, but lost for no good reason.

That's five Senate seats.

I haven't even gotten to the tea party candidates, and we would already have a U.S. Senate that's 51-47 Republican, absent Republican traitors, morons and hacks.

No one gets rich by hurting the Democratic Party. But a lot of people get rich off losing races for the Republican Party.

The Republicans' recent brave fight against Obamacare should make conservatives proud. But you know what would have made it even better? If Republicans had had a majority in the Senate.

In 2014, how about Republicans concentrate on flipping Democratic seats to the GOP in conservative Arkansas, Louisiana, West Virginia, Montana and Alaska, instead of wasting money and energy purging impure Republicans in safe seats? Can't we wait until we have a nice big majority to start purging our own incumbents?

Other than Sen. Lindsey Graham -- you can purge him. As a character in Voltaire's "Candide" said, "It is good to hang an admiral from time to time, in order to encourage the others."

Standing on Principle: The GOP Boogeyman

A timely post about from www.TeaPartyPatriots.org about John McCain and Mitch McConnell’s stance on Obamacare. This follows this post about ACORN and the Black Caucus. In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.

Standing on Principle: The GOP Boogeyman

by Tea Party Patriots

The game is afoot, and the name of the game is 2014.

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is still undecided as to whether he will demand the further funding of government be coupled with the defunding of the Affordable Care Act (Known as Obamacare). As minority leader, most of the Republican caucus currently on the fence in regards to the defunding strategy will follow McConnell’s lead. What’s peculiar is that a senator who said “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” in a Nation Journal Interview less than 3 years ago, is now timid about playing political hardball.

His timidity can be explained by one word. Fear. He fears any strategy that has even a possibility of impacting the next election.

McConnell’s timidity comes from having both eyes locked on the midterm elections of 2014. The Minority Leader knows that retaking the Senate is essential for leverage with the executive branch, future judicial appointments, and his own personal prestige. Politically, securing the Majority Leader’s office is his top priority and a messy fight with Democrats over Obamacare funding may impact that goal. Many Republicans in the Senate tremble at the thought of confrontation with the Democrats, because they fear their party will be blamed for a potential government shutdown. This is tantamount to an admission that they don’t want to engage because they know they will lose.

This is the awe inspiring confidence they believe will carry them to an electoral victory next year. Outside the beltway, it’s a no-brainer. When a majority of the voters have negative opinions of the legislation, showing the American people they are working to defeat Obamacare isn’t exactly a risky political move.

With Senate elections in Republican leaning states like West Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Dakota, Montana, and Louisiana, Republican leadership is singularly focused on avoiding bad press. To Senator McConnell’s establishment, potentially harming a pickup seat causes more fear than the unmitigated implementation of Obamacare.

The Republicans can see the “train wreck” hurtling down the tracks towards them, but are too terrified to do anything requiring more effort than a trip to Fox News. They’ve seen the charts, the predictions, and the real world negative effects taking place in their home states. They assure us that their strategy is better than the ones being put forward by Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, without offering any information on what their strategy might be.

As usual, establishment Republicans are behind the curve. The plan isn’t to shut down the government. The plan is to completely fund the government with the exception of the Affordable Care Act.

Also true to form, establishment Republicans aren’t letting details get in the way of attacking a plan they can’t take credit for. John McCain (R?-AZ) stated “Most Americans are really tired of those kinds of shenanigans.” Remember, this is a man so informed on the will of the American people that he lost a Presidential election by 10 million votes. Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) called the proposal to defund Obamacare the dumbest idea he has ever heard. Really, Senator? You have been working in Washington since 1995, and that is the dumbest idea you have ever heard? Thanks for letting everyone know exactly how ignorant you are, it makes putting other comments of yours in context.

At some point the Republican leadership in Washington needs to understand that real leaders, well, lead. If you truly believe that Obamacare is bad for the American people, you are duty bound to take steps towards getting rid of it. Working towards a majority in the Senate is important. However, electoral victory requires more than eternal fretting about one’s own political skin. At some point Senators need to do what they were elected to do in the first place, and that is to serve the best interest of the voters they represent.

If we can’t count on Senate Republicans to stand and fight on this issue, does it really matter if they win in 2014?

Editorial: The IRS allows Leftist Lobbying Groups to go Unmolested!

Editorial

As the U.S. moves away from its Constitutional Foundations. It is worth analyzing the fact that there are so many groups that are able to lobby for their political viewpoints that don't get attacked by the IRS as the Tea Party and Patriot groups have over the past few years. There are entire leftist groups who do nothing BUT lobby for their views and yet have never had any investigation about their partisanship. There are also lobbying caucuses in Congress that exist only for their own group's advancement at the expense of the rest of the country.

On the eve of a possible government shutdown, we should step back and ponder how this situation has come to be!

Sebelius: Pass Immigration Amnesty Bill to Boost Obamacare Enrollment

• Sebelius: Pass Immigration Amnesty Bill to Boost Obamacare Enrollment

Health Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius joins Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter at a February 20, 2013 news conference at City Hall in Philadelphia. (AP File Photo)

Asked Thursday if the Affordable Care Act will help "undocumented individuals," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said no -- and that's why immigration reform is so important:

"Well, the (Obamacare) bill is crafted in such a way that those who are undocumented will not have access to the tax credits or shopping in the (health insurance) marketplace. That has been limited, which is, frankly, why -- another very keen reason why we need comprehensive immigration reform," Sebelius told a gathering of Latinos in Philadelphia.

August 23, 2013 - 8:41 AM

By Susan Jones

CNSnews.com

The remark drew applause at the Obamacare event hosted by Congreso, a Latino community service group.

"Unfortunately, you can't fix -- we won't fix the immigration system, unfortunately, through the health care bill, but I think having the immigration bill that passed the Senate, pass the House, would be a huge step," Sebelius added.

The Senate-passed immigration bill would put some 11 million illegal aliens on a path to eventual citizenship, first by giving them provisional legal status. House Republicans say border security must come first, and they plan to draft their own bill.

Sebelius recommended that illegal aliens continue to get medical treatment at community health centers, where they will find federally funded, "culturally competent" health care providers "who actually speak the language and can reach out to a neighborhood."

She also noted that the Obama administration has doubled the size of the Public Health Service Corps -- "which, to me, is one of the great, well-kept secrets in America. It's like the Peace Corps for health workers," she said.

"If you agree to serve in an underserved area, the federal government helps pay off the student loans and debt that a lot of health professionals carry. And what we find is that when people actually take up service in the National Health Service Corps, they stay in the communities that they are serving long beyond their assignments. So there will be continued access for undocumented," Sebelius promised.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, who joined Sebelius at the event, also addressed the issue of "dealing with folks who may not have all their documentation in order."

And just as Sebelius did, Nutter indicated that illegal aliens and other disadvantaged people already have access to health care in this country.

Nutter said the City of Philadelphia -- "even through the worst of the recession, we did everything we possibly could to minimize any negative impact on our health centers. We have eight health centers across the City of Philadelphia, and they were last, last, last on any list to get any reductions, although we made cuts all over the city government." He said he is committed to maintaining that funding.

Nutter also said he signed an executive order directing city government workers "that you cannot deny someone service...just because you may be in an undocumented status."

"And I signed that executive order specifically to make sure that while folks are trying to deal with their paperwork and dealing with immigration and all those folks over there at the federal side, that's not our responsibility. Our responsibility is to provide service. Anyone who shows up, who's in this city -- (applause) -- and so folks -- and so people should continue to come, certainly, to our health centers."

The mayor said his city is "doing our best in trying to provide services to folks, notwithstanding any language challenges, documentation status. If you are here, it is our job to try to provide the best, high-quality service and care that we can as a local government. That's our commitment."

What Obamacare 'really is about'

According to Sebelius, "The Affordable Care Act "really is about a portion of the population (15 percent, she estimated) who is either uninsured or underinsured or in and out of the marketplaces."

She said "the other 85 percent of people" already have relatively affordable coverage, which "has gotten stronger" because of various Obamacare requirements.

"Starting October 1st of this year...for about 15 percent of Americans who don't have health coverage at all, they will have some new opportunities. They will have a new marketplace available to them, and because they don't have an employer paying a share of the coverage, they have some help from the federal government."

She estimated that Latinos comprise about 25 percent of the individuals eligible for new coverage options.

Obama Gives Presidential Medal of Freedom to Abortion Activist Gloria Steinem

An interesting story from www.lifenews.com about Gloria Steinem receiving the Medal of Freedom from the President. This follows this post about the cost to Texas of Wendy Davis’ filibuster. For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and you can also get two very interesting books HERE.

Obama Gives Presidential Medal of Freedom to Abortion Activist Gloria Steinem

President Barack Obama has named sixteen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the nation’s highest civilian honor. Abortion activist Gloria Steinem will be one of the recipients.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is “presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors,” and Obama apparently believes dedicating one’s life to promoting abortion is a part of that list. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/09/obama-gives-presidential-medal-of-freedom-to-abortion-activist-gloria-steinem/

Do These Republican Senators Support Obamacare?

A timely post about from www.redsate.com about the GOP backing down on Obamacare. This follows this post about a book to read in this current environment that you can get here from your library or by clicking the title of this article to get it from amazon. In the meantime, you can read an interesting take on society's problems HERE and another interesting book HERE.

Do These Republican Senators Support Obamacare?

By: Dana Loesch (Diary)

A supremely unpopular bill already a proven trainwreck before (delayed) implementation is even fully in effect:

Moderate Democrats are retreating from Obamacare, according to the Washington Post. Hospitals are retreating from Obamacare. Americans broadly doubt Obamacare will help them. Consumers in most states won’t see reductions in premiums for their healthcare, contrary to what the Democrats claimed. In fact, there are twenty-seven ways in which Obamacare will increase the costs of your healthcare. In the meantime, Obamacare is costing jobs in Ohio and elsewhere. The restaurant industry is reducing hours of employees and cutting full time workers.

The below Senators have not signed Sen. Mike Lee’s letter to force the defunding of Obamacare by blocking a continuing resolution on government spending — snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Any vote for any funding of Obamacare is a vote for it. If these below senators aren’t interested in defunding it — the only way we have right now of stopping it — how can we trust them to support a repeal? Obamacare is hurting us now. If these elected officials won’t act to stop it we need to find those who will. Pick which narrative scares you the most, ladies and gentlemen.

ADDED: I have NO IDEA why Senators Lee, Cruz, Paul, and others aren’t in front of every single television camera that will have them to explain this to people. Don’t call out a war and then not engage to win. This is winnable. Once the freebies – and delayed pain — start rolling in, it’s fait accompli. The time to stop it is now.

Student Suspended who Asked for “English-in-the-Classroom”

A very interesting post from http://proenglish.org/ about a student trying to learn who asked for the common language, English, to be spoken in assignments. This follows this post about immigration amnesty in North Carolina. This follows this post about the  DC March for Jobs against more immigration. This follows this post about the release of illegal immigrant felons from prison by ICE. This follows this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! ProEnglish Supports Suspended Student Who Asked for “English-in-the-Classroom”

Arlington, VA – ProEnglish is providing legal support for a student who was suspended merely for asking that students speak English in her classroom and during student projects. Terri Bennett, a nursing student at Pima Community College (PCC) in Tuscon, Arizona asked school administrators to make sure students speak English in the class so she could learn.

After making this simple request, school administrators called Ms. Bennett a “bigot,” and she received a nine-month suspension. Ms. Bennett reached out to ProEnglish for assistance in May as PCC took these actions against her.

ProEnglish contacted the Arizona law firm of Munger & Chadwick to represent Ms. Bennett. On July 8, 2013, the school was served with a complaint from Ms. Bennett through her attorneys, seeking administrative review.

On Monday, July 15, a complaint seeking monetary damages against the school was filed in state court. The state Attorney General Tom Horne was also formally notified about Ms. Bennett’s case as the school is in violation of Arizona’s official English amendment.

“What happened to Terri Bennett is an outrage,” said ProEnglish Executive Director Robert Vandervoort. “For simply seeking a classroom environment where she can learn in English, Terri was harshly treated by the PCC administration, viciously insulted, and punished with a nine-month suspension.”

“This school should be known as “Politically Correct College,” Vandervoort continued. “We look forward to bringing justice for Terri and making sure other students are allowed to learn in English.”

America can’t afford more train wrecks

A very interesting post from www.teapartypatriots.org about actions to stop the Gang of Eight Bill, SB 744. This follows this post about the Town Hall meetings your two Senators should be having in YOUR city!  This follows this post about the release of illegal immigrant felons from prison by ICE. This follows this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! America can’t afford more train wrecks

Two weeks ago, Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) said Obamacare is a train wreck. He was right. And yet right now the Senate is considering another large, ill-considered, costly, and convoluted piece of legislation – amnesty.

This week, your Senators and Congressmen are home for their “district work period.” Make sure they know how you stand on this legislation, and the lack of transparency surrounding its march through the Senate. Tell them no more train wrecks!

Tea Party activists around the nation are working together to make sure this bill does not pass. Here is our strategy this week:

■Friday: On Friday we will re-cap all of our activities this week and begin planning for next week’s theme and messaging opportunities.

Make sure they know how you feel about the rushed process, the lack of transparency, the unconstitutional nature of the bill, its massive costs, its unknown components, and everything else wrong this this bill.

As always, your effort is critical to the future of our country. We urge you to join us this week in making sure Congress knows exactly how the American people reject this new train wreck.
