Help Place E-Verify, Immigration Status Check Measures on the Houston Ballot‏

A very interesting post from http://www.numbersusa.com/ about E-Verify in Houston. This follows this post about the Supreme Court's take on Arizona's 1070.  This follows this post about Marco Rubio's DREAM Act. This follows this post about the Black Caucus hurting Black Americans with their immigration stand. This follows this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants such as the 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso, where President Barack Obama recently bashed immigration enforcement! For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and you can read a very interesting book HERE!

Help Place E-Verify, Immigration Status Check Measures on the Houston Ballot

This is a special message for NumbersUSA members to help change Texas.

Dear activist,

A group called Stop The Magnet is seeking to place two citizens initiatives on the Nov. 2012 City of Houston ballot that would mandate E-Verify workplace eligibility checks for city contractors and require police, after a lawful stop and when practicable, to check the immigration status of persons suspected to be illegally present.

If these initiatives can get on the ballot and pass in Houston, it will have a monumental impact in Texas that could spread to other cities and the state legislature. We strongly encourage those who live in the Houston area to help. Those who do not live in the Houston area may know people who do. Please find a way to help.

To get on the ballot, each initiative needs the signatures of 20,000 City of Houston registered voters. A higher number must be submitted, however, because some signatures are inevitably ruled invalid.

If you are a Houston voter, please consider signing a petition and volunteering to collect more. If you do not live in the City, you can still help by volunteering your time.

The group is seeking volunteers who will commit to help the effort. Volunteer to collect signatures at a polling location during Early Voting on May 14-25 (for 6 hours or a lesser increment) and on Election Day, May 29.

For those outside of Houston or homebound you can make a huge impact by volunteering to make phone calls to Houston residents in search of signatures and volunteers. Training will be given.

Contact maria@stopthemagnet.com  to arrange a schedule suitable to your needs.

You can see the initiatives and download petitions at http://www.stopthemagnet.com/.

There are now 8 police officers who were either killed or maimed in the City of Houston by an illegal alien in just the last 6 years. Please help stop the magnet now.

Thank you!
