In the current climate of constant threats of terrorist attacks, of anthrax scares and biotoxin fears, who could guess that a heat wave would hand France one of the greatest tragedies in its history? The official count is still unknown, but as of this writing, the death toll in France for the period of Aug. 1 to 15 was 11,435, and most victims were elderly. The country simply cannot afford to care for its senior citizens in the way that it should. Discussions are under way about the possibility of every worker donating one day's wage per year (by working through a national holiday) to generate emergency funding.
Alzheimer's will grow by 150 percent in the United Kingdom by 2050. By the same date, the number of people with Alzheimer's in the United States could reach 300 percent of today's numbers—that's up to 16 million Americans. This projection, based upon U.S. census data, comes from the Rush Institute on Healthy Aging.
Sheldon Goldberg, president and CEO of the U.S. Alzheimer's Association, warned: “If we don't find answers soon, it will be devastating on multiple fronts.” Unless advances in research produce effective treatments, the Rush Institute declared that the projected increase is enough to bankrupt the American Medicare system.
Meanwhile, in China economists blame the 3.7 percent shrinkage in Hong Kong's gross domestic product for the second quarter of the year on the SARS outbreak. Toronto also lost tens of millions of dollars in tourism revenues when the World Health Organization declared the city unsafe, due to a lengthy period of uncontained SARS infections there.
SARS is a pneumonia-like virus, believed to have “jumped” from animals to humans in the Guangdong province of China, where the illness claimed hundreds of victims. Recent investigations in the province revealed the presence of a variation of SARS in several test animals, as well as some healthy people. The people may not become ill themselves, but they are carriers of the disease.
Apart from the possibility of the introduction of a new strain of SARS, scientists are warning that the regional strain will most likely reappear when the next flu season begins.
The flu itself could become a bioterror weapon. Scientists from the University of Texas Health Science Center say that commonly known information from the genome of the 1918 flu epidemic could be used to create an even more deadly strain than that one, which took the lives of 20 to 40 million people.
Even in our modern world of advanced technology and medical science, we are ever vulnerable to common diseases. We need to be mindful of the fact that good health is a blessing from God, one that we cannot afford to take for granted. There is a direct correlation between our respect for and application of God's laws and the prosperity of our countries. As America rushes to distance itself from God's great laws, we would do well to take heed of His sober words in Leviticus 26:14-16 Leviticus 26:14-16 14 But if you will not listen to me, and will not do all these commandments; 15 And if you shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that you will not do all my commandments, but that you break my covenant: 16 I also will do this to you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
American King James Version×
.
“But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart.”

Obama admin buys advertising to promote unpopular pro-abort health reform law

An interesting story from http://www.lifensiteews.com/  about Obama buying advertising for his health care plan. This follows this post about a Virginia rally for enforcement of pro-life laws.  For more that you can do to get involved click  HERE and you can also get a very interesting book HERE!

Obama admin buys advertising to promote unpopular pro-abort health reform law

by Kathleen Gilbert
WASHINGTON, D.C., January 13, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Obama administration is buying promotional space on popular search engines to counter the widespread unpopularity of the abortion-expanding health care reform as Republicans gear up to repeal the law.

The Daily Caller noted earlier this month that searches for the term “Obamacare,” a pejorative term for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, generate links to healthcare.gov that tout the law’s better points. Searches for “health care reform” and “health care bill” also turn up government-sponsored links that compete with other sponsored links criticizing the legislation’s rushed passage.

The Caller reports that The Department of Health and Human Services won’t disclose how much it’s been paying for the ads.

“We are using search terms on several search engines like Yahoo, Google and Bing to help ensure that, when consumers are looking for information online about the Affordable Care Act, they can find what they are looking for,” Health and Human Services spokesperson Jessica Santillo said in an e-mail to The Daily Caller.

The White House’s strategy for promoting the health care bill ever since it began its journey into law has been remarkable for its aggressive advertising quality.

The administration drew criticism in June 2009 when it was revealed that ABC News would host a primetime special on the health care bill but had refused requests from the GOP and paid advertisers to offer an opposing viewpoint.

Meanwhile, House Republicans are wasting no time with an attempt to repeal the law, starting with a measure to repeal a highly unpopular tax requirement in the law that would force companies to report all goods and services transactions over $600. The requirement, seen as an extraordinary burden on employers, was included to help pay for health care reform.

A Rasmussen Reports survey on January 10 found that the majority of U.S. voters, 54 percent, continue to at least somewhat favor repeal of the health care law. Support for repeal has reached as high as 63 percent since the bill was past last year, and has yet to dip below 50 percent.

House lawmaker introduces bill to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funds

House lawmaker introduces bill to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funds

by Kathleen Gilbert
WASHINGTON, DC, Jan. 7, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A pro-life member of the House of Representatives has introduced a measure that would strip Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortions in America, of federal Title X funds.

The Planned Parenthood Federation revealed that in 2008 it performed 324,008 abortions, and received $363 million in government grants and contracts. It is unclear how much of those funds were from Title X, which are earmarked for family planning for low-income families.

The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, introduced by U.S. Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) on Friday, currently has 122 cosponsors in the newly Republican-dominated House.

“It is morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion. It is also morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans and use them to promote abortion at home or abroad,” said Pence in a statement. “The largest abortion provider in America should not also be the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X.”

Pence said the new legislation would prevent any abortion-providing organization, including Planned Parenthood, from receiving Title X funds. However, the bill would not reduce the total amount of Title X funds and would free more federal monies to groups that do not provide abortion.

Pence’s office noted that Title X is the only federal grant program dedicated solely to providing comprehensive family planning and related preventative health services, and there are a number of federally funded clinics across the nation that offer beneficial services including patient counseling, breast cancer screenings, HIV prevention education and more.

Planned Parenthood is currently under investigation in multiple states including Indiana, California, Alabama and Tennessee for allegations of fraudulent use of Title X funding.

‘Most pro-life’ Congress sworn in

‘Most pro-life’ Congress sworn in

by John Jalsevac

Rep. John Boehner and new House Speaker takes the House gavel from former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. WASHINGTON, DC, January 5, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Today marked the swearing in of what some, including pro-life Representative Chris Smith, have labeled the “most pro-life” congress in living memory, and possibly even in history.

Ninety-four new House members were sworn in, as well as 13 new senators. Republicans now hold a 242-193 majority in the House, while Democrats hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate.

Besides the overall shift from Democrat to Republican majority in the House, one of the more dramatic changes is the replacement of Nancy Pelosi, a radical abortion supporter, with the staunch pro-life advocate Rep. John Boehner as Speaker of the House.

Boehner has a long pro-life history, enjoying a 0% pro-choice voting record from the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) and a 100% pro-life voting record from the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC).

Americans United for Life President and CEO Charmaine Yoest today welcomed the new Congress, saying in a statement: “I predict that we will see changes in President Obama’s pro-abortion health care plan and in other pro-life measures as a result of pro-life leadership taking their places in Washington, D.C. today.”

In his opening speech to the House Boehner promised that that the Republican majority would honor their “Pledge to America,” a document outlining the GOP’s agenda that included a section pledging to eliminate federal funding of abortion. The preamble of the “Pledge” states, “We pledge to honor families, traditional marriage, life, and the private and faith-based organizations that form the core of our American values.”

The new Speaker also invoked his Catholic faith to provide an image of the meaning of true service: “In the Catholic faith, we enter into a season of service by having ashes marked on our foreheads,” he said. “The ashes remind us that life in all its forms is fragile - our time on this Earth, fleeting. As the ashes are delivered, we hear those humbling words: ‘Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return.’

One of the top priorities for the new Republican House majority will be the repeal, or at least the amendment, of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, known to some as Obamacare.

And they’re not wasting any time.

On January 7, the House will vote on a resolution to move forward with repeal of the pro-abortion health care reform law. If the resolution passes, the House is expected to vote on the law’s repeal on Wednesday, January 12.

In coming days the House will also be considering the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” sponsored by Rep. Smith, which will create a government-wide statutory prohibition on taxpayer funding of abortion.

They will also be considering the “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act,” sponsored by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), which would ensure that tax dollars are not sent to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood under Title X family planning funds.

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council said today that Pence’s bill “is becoming even more important now that Planned Parenthood has told all of its affiliates they are required to perform abortions or lose the organization’s support.”

Today the Susan B Anthony List announced that it is mobilizing its 280,000-member grassroots network to lobby the new Members of Congress to vote for the repeal of the health care law. SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said that “keeping abortion out of health care - as the antitheses to it - was the critical issue with enough votes to stop or pass healthcare.”

“We call on Congress to repeal this law that destroys life using our tax dollars,” she said.

So we should melt her.
What melts snow? Rock salt.
I’m going to ship this 5 pound bag of rock salt to her office in Maine. It’s only $3.00. You should join me.
It is a visible demonstration of our contempt for her. First she votes for the stimulus. Now this.

Certified Poll: 78% of Americans Oppose Obama's Immigration Plans!

A very timely Poll from http://www.alipac.us/ which is very relevent due to what the House of Representatives did to Joe Wilson. For more as to the cost of immigrants on health care click here

Certified Poll: 78% of Americans Oppose Obama's Immigration Plans!

ALIPAC NOTE: The findings of this poll are so dramatic that proper deployment across the nation can politically crush President Obama's plans to push this unpopular amnesty legislation in 2009!. Please distribute copies of this polling information to each of your elected officials and all members of the national and local media. For those of you standing with ALIPAC, you have more assurances that four out of five Americans agree with our enforcement only stances. The findings that 78% oppose legalizing the 12 million illegal aliens directly refutes the designer polls circulated by the Open Borders Lobby. These readings on health care can be equally crushing to Obama's health care legislation.

----ANCIR poll: High immigration levels affect the cost of the health care system
16. September 2009 05:42
Pulse Opinion Research,
LLCThe Medical News
The American Council for Immigration Reform (ANCIR) national poll on immigration and its impact on health care issues conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC, of 1,000 likely voters on August 26, 2009 found that 78% of Americans believe that high immigration levels have had an adverse impact on the quality and cost of our health care system. Republicans (89%) felt more strongly on the issue, but Democrats (69%) were not far behind. Other key findings were:

Seventy-three percent (73%) of likely voters agreed that hospitals should be allowed to inquire and collect data about the immigration status of those seeking Emergency Room care without affecting the legal requirement that they must provide emergency care. Just 18% said no.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of the respondents believed that providing health insurance to illegal immigrants will just encourage more illegal immigration.
After receiving emergency medical care, if it is determined that an illegal immigrant will require long term follow-up medical care, 47% believed that the person should be deported to his/her home country. 38% believed care should be provided, but time and cost limits should be established for eventual deportation. Only 8% believed long term care should be provided in the U.S.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of likely voters were very or somewhat concerned that the United States will add 135 million people to its population in the next 40 years, 75% of which is due to immigration. Republicans (90%) were more concerned than Democrats (74%).
Seventy-eight percent (78%) of likely voters were opposed to legalizing the status of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. with only 19% supporting it. 88% of African-Americans were opposed to legalization.
Fifty-five percent (55%) were opposed to a government insurance option under any national health care plan with 28% in favor and 17% not sure. 73% of Republicans were opposed with 11% in favor. A plurality of Democrats (47%) supported a government option with 34% opposed and 19% unsure.
