Gates Foundation Will Sink Another $120 Million Into Promoting Abortion and Population Control

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is funneling more money into global programs promoting population control and abortion after a group warned that international family planning goals are not being met.

The Gates Foundation promised to give an additional $120 million to Family Planning 2020 programs that support “the rights of women and girls to decide when and how many children they want to have,” the news website All Africa reported today.
“The announcement came in response to a new report which found that the global community risks falling short of its goal to reach an additional 120 million women and girls with access to contraceptives and family planning services by 2020,” according to the report.
Both Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International, two of the largest abortion businesses in the world, are partners in the global Family Planning 2020 initiative, according to a press release from the initiative.
The abortion chain Marie Stopes International also sent out a tweet yesterday celebrating the Gates Foundation’s large donation.
The Gates Foundation has faced criticism in the past for giving money to programs that support abortion.
In 2014, after Melinda Gates claimed her foundation will not fund abortions, LiveAction reported that the foundation gave huge donations to several abortion businesses.

According to the Gates Foundation grant database, the Foundation gave Planned Parenthood of America, the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and Planned Parenthood of Western Washington about $71 million from before 2009 through 2013. Additionally, the Gates Foundation gave $46.1 million to Marie Stopes International in 2012 alone.
Much of this giving is focused on Africa, Asia, and Latin America, where abortion-providers like Planned Parenthood, Marie Stopes, and Ipas seek to overturn pro-life laws and sometimes even provide illicit abortion drugs.

While Gates Foundation funds cannot be earmarked for abortion, the fungibility of money makes it easier for these organizations to provide abortion internationally.  In other words, every dollar the Gates Foundation gives to Planned Parenthood for distributing birth control or building an abortion-friendly clinic frees up a dollar in Planned Parenthood’s budget to spend elsewhere.

In 2012, Melinda Gates was criticized for promoting abortion and population control at an international meeting.
The same year, she was criticized for hosting a Family Planning Summit in London with two of the biggest pro-abortion groups in the world, the UN Population Fund and International Planned Parenthood Federation.

NAACP Completely Ignores Election of Pro-Life Blacks in Election Statement

The pro-abortion NAACP is coming under fire for completely ignoring the election of pro-life African-America candidates in Tuesday’s election. The venerable civil rights group is increasingly pushing its abortion agenda and has been embroiled in a lawsuit seeking to deny free speech rights to a prominent black pro-life advocate.
The NAACP has also attempted to intimidate LifeNews into ceasing its reporting of its pro-abortion position and activities.
Not only did pro-life candidates win huge election victories across the board last night, but black pro-life candidates won as well and helped undermine false criticism from the other side that somehow the pro-life issue is not one that resonates with African-Americans. But the NAACP makes no mention of their victories.
The Washington Free Beacon describes the latest NAACP antics:

GOP Deputy Press Secretary Raffi Williams slammed the NAACP for ignoring the historic elections of candidates Mia Love (R., Utah) and Tim Scott (R., S.C.). Williams criticized the NAACP on Twitter Thursday, saying “If the [NAACP] was a truly bipartisan org thay [sic] would support all blacks not just dem Blacks.”
Williams told Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt that “all black accomplishments in America should be congratulated.”
“The fact that we have more black people in elected office should be something to celebrate because it is for the advancement of all black people, despite your ideology,” Williams said.
“It’s an important step. It’s historic that Tim Scott is the first black person ever elected to both the House and the Senate if they choose to ignore it, I think it shows a fault on their part.”

In the deep South, South Carolina voters sent pro-life Republican Tim Scott back to the U.S. Senate, making him the first black candidate to win a statewide race there since just after the Civil War. Scott is also the first African-American senator from the South since Reconstruction.
Meanwhile, in Utah, Mia Love won her congressional race to become the first black Republican woman in Congress. Love is a proudly pro-life candidate who had strong support from pro-life groups.
And in Texas, pro-life congressional candidate Will Hurd won his race, unseating Rep. Pete Gallego.
“I sleep like a baby every night knowing I did absolutely everything I could to win this race,” Hurd said of waiting until the bitter end for results. “We always knew it was going to come down to the very end.”

Looking at my inbox this week shows several accumulated articles that point to further erosion of religious freedom and tolerance that should be noted.
First, Steve Myers and I did a BT Daily this morning highlighting the Obama administration's effort to dictate to religious bodies how they define health care benefits. The enacted health care legislation that begins next year says to churches and religious bodies they must provide benefites to employers for birth contral and abortion. The Catholic church is up in arms about this. This issue crosses religious lines and impacts all faiths. Former presidential candidate and Baptist minister, Mike Huckabee, is quoted as saying "we are all Catholics" over this issue.
I wouldn't use those words but at least on this issue we would all find common ground. Government legislation that tells a religious body they must provide funding for decisions that violate their belief is a serious breach of liberty. We discuss this in our video.
Then I saw an article in the Financial Times that describes Hungary's curtailing of official recognition for more than 300 denominations. Prime Minister Viktor Orban's government action has caused concern in both the EU and US. With no consultation of established churches Hungary enacted a law which acknowledges 14 "historical churches. Those recognized include, Catholic, Calvinist and at least three Jewish denominations. Those stripped of offical status include Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witness and local Church of England groups. Also no longer recognized are Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and Bahai groups.
These churchs can appeal their status but it is lengthy and culminates in Parliament, which involves in the end a political decision based on who holds the majority. Crisits say this violates basic ungarian law and is a serious infringment on religious liberty. Given Hungary's long history of struggle for liberty this action is surprising. Anything can happen when a majority hold power.
One final piece comes from California where the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against a California propositiont that defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Proposition 8 had been voted on and passed by citizens in a recent election. This case deals with finer points of constituional law but it effectively opens a path to review by the United States Supreme Court. There, it promises to be decided by a narrow majority of only one vote. It will be interesting to watch.
This case represents actions by a court to define not only public morality but the institution of marriage, the building block of any stable society. It further opens the door to a redefining of marriage into something far beyond what the Bible clearly defines–a sacred union between a man and a woman. Its ramifications will be devastating for the nation.
Religious freedom, free from any intrusion by government, is a legal right in America, long defended in many cases. To circumvent basic tenets of this historic God-ordained right is serious. While these listed today may not prevent any of us from freedom of assembly according to our conscience they can represent the first steps toward intolerance and persecution, and even in a free society this must we vigilently watched.
The apostles James and John were threatened with punishment when they preached the truth of Christ's resurrection to the people of Jerusalem. When told to cease by the religious authoritties they gave an answer that echoes down to us today: "We ought to obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29).
There will be a day when many of us will have to make the same declaration. God give us the strength to follow in their footsteps.

Jesus described the mercy and goodness of God when He stated that God made the sun to shine and the rain to fall on the just and on the unjust (Matthew 5:45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.



See All...). Too much sunshine or too much rain is destructive.



Some equate sunshine with happy and good times and rain with troubles or bothersome times. Our Creator knows that strong and good character develops when challenges are present and when we rise to meet those challenges. He has made us as we are purposely (Ecclesiastes 1:13And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.



See All...). Sunshine may be a time to relax, rejoice and recoup oneself, but it is also a time for work that cannot be done in the rainy season. Rain may be a time to let growth develop, but that too brings the need for work. Life needs periods of sunshine and rain to be fulfilling and complete. Appreciate that balance.

A new poll released today by CNN indicates half of Americans oppose the new mandate pro-abortion President Barack Obama put in place that requires religious employers to pay for birth control or drugs that can cause abortions.



Interviews with 1,026 adult Americans conducted by telephone by ORC International on February 10-13 for CNN asked, “As you may know, the Obama administration has announced a new policy concerning health insurance plans provided by employers, including religious organizations, and how they handle birth control and contraceptive services for women. Based on what you have read or heard, do you approve or disapprove of this policy?”

President Barack Obama did it again -- adding another pro-abortion mark in his extensive anti-life record. He recently put a new Obamacare mandate in place that forced religious employers to provide coverage for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions despite the fact that that conflicts with their moral and religious beliefs.



Facing an onslaught of criticism from pro-life, Catholic and evangelical groups -- including some who said they would rather go to jail than be forced to violate their own conscience by covering such drugs for their employees -- Obama revised the mandate. As you have probably read at LifeNews by now, that mandate is equally offensive -- if not moreso -- because it requires every health insurance company to pay for those birth control and aborifacient drugs and provide them at no cost to everyone.


Leading pro-life organizations have slammed the revised mandate saying it could very well be a precursor to forcing insurance companies to provide coverage for free or no cost abortions and the Catholics bishops have said the only way to improve the mandate now is for Obama to get rid of it. But that's not happening -- as the Obama administration today made it clear the pro-abortion mandate is here to stay.



Naturally, Planned Parenthood, NARAL and Obama's close friends in the abortion industry are elated. They're are seeing how, once again, their president is taking their marching orders all the way tot he bank.

No Surprise White House Knew Obamacare Didn’t Ban Abortion Funds


Wouldn’t it be nice if, by some act of magic, a law that endangers unborn children could be transformed into a life-affirming statute? Unfortunately, such magic does not exist; in fact, not even an order written by the President can modify language passed by Congress and signed by the President.



In an email written by then-Justice Department employee and well-known Harvard Law Professor Laurence Tribe, to then-Solicitor General (now Supreme Court Justice) Elena Kagan on the day that the Affordable Care Act passed the House of Representatives, Tribe gushed “[s]o health care is basically done! Remarkable. And with the Stupak group accepting the magic of what amounts to a signing statement on steroids!”



The “signing statement on steroids” that Tribe refers to is President Obama’s Executive Order 13535, characterized by the White House as “reaffirm[ing] [the Affordable Care Act’s] consistency with longstanding restrictions on the use of federal funds for abortion.”[1] However, as Tribe clearly recognized, the EO did not “reaffirm” existing law, and certainly did not “cure” the major abortion-funding flaw in the ACA—the absence of a comprehensive prohibition on the use of federal funds for abortions and abortion coverage.
