Obama laments “distorted impression” many Americans have of Muslims

Obama said: “Here in America, many people personally don’t know someone who is Muslim. They mostly hear about Muslims in the news — and that can obviously lead to a very distorted impression.” The idea that Americans have a “distorted impression” of Muslims because they don’t know any Muslims personally is a condescending talking point that Obama picked up from Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood-tied groups such as the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
People don’t have a negative impression of Islam because they haven’t met kind, friendly Muslims. People don’t have a negative impression of Islam because of some fictional “Islamophobia industry,” either. People have a negative impression of Islam because Islamic jihad terrorists invoke Islamic texts and teachings to justify hatred, violence, brutality and oppression. No amount of contact with kind, friendly Muslims will change that. One man who decided that he shouldn’t oppose jihad terror after going into a mosque does not, unfortunately, alter the reality of jihad terror.
“Obama laments ‘distorted impression’ of Muslims,” by Ben Kamisar, The Hill, June 23, 2015:
President Obama stressed religious tolerance during an Iftar dinner to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, linking the murders of nine black Christians in South Carolina with the killings of three Muslims in North Carolina earlier this year.
“Our prayers remain with Charleston and Mother Emanuel church,” Obama said Monday night, using the nickname of the historically black church in Charleston where nine people were killed Wednesday night after a gunman opened fire in a Bible study.
“As Americans, we insist that nobody should be targeted because of who they are, or what they look like, who they love, how they worship. We stand united against these hateful acts.”
Obama lamented the “distorted impression” that many Americans have of Muslims.
“Here in America, many people personally don’t know someone who is Muslim. They mostly hear about Muslims in the news — and that can obviously lead to a very distorted impression,” Obama said.
He shared the story of protesters outside of an Arizona mosque who held up “offensive signs against Islam and Muslims. But when the congregants invited the protesters in to pray, some completely changed their minds….

Senators Pursue Legislation Preventing Illegal Aliens from Claiming EITC

https://www.numbersusa.com/sendfax

A group of Senators led by Chuck Grassley of Iowa introduced a bill that would disallow the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for illegal aliens given amnesty under the President’s November 2014 executive actions. “This tax credit is meant to help the working poor get into the workforce,” Grassley said. “It isn’t meant to benefit individuals who aren’t authorized to work in the United States.”
The Internal Revenue Service recently testified that when illegal aliens get Social Security Numbers under Obama’s executive amnesty, they will be able to claim the EITC under tax returns filed for the last three years.
The bill is intended to close a loophole created by a 2000 IRS interpretation that has the effect of allowing those receiving deferred action to qualify for a credit they were previously denied or otherwise ineligible for at the time. It would deny the credit to those receiving deferred action unless they were eligible to claim the credit for the year in question and were authorized to engage in employment in the United States for the entire taxable year. This rule would apply to the year in which they are granted deferred action and for all previous returns.
The non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation estimated the bill will save $1.7 billion over ten years in payments that otherwise would have gone out. The actual amount of Earned Income Tax Credit payments going to those receiving deferred action could be much greater.
Co-sponsors of the legislation are Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., David Perdue, R-Ga., Tim Scott, R-S.C., Pat Roberts, R-Kan., Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., Jim Risch, R-Idaho, John Boozman, R-Ark., and John Cornyn, R-Tex.

NAACP Completely Ignores Election of Pro-Life Blacks in Election Statement

by Steven Ertelt | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com
The pro-abortion NAACP is coming under fire for completely ignoring the election of pro-life African-America candidates in Tuesday’s election. The venerable civil rights group is increasingly pushing its abortion agenda and has been embroiled in a lawsuit seeking to deny free speech rights to a prominent black pro-life advocate.
naacp12The NAACP has also attempted to intimidate LifeNews into ceasing its reporting of its pro-abortion position and activities.
Not only did pro-life candidates win huge election victories across the board last night, but black pro-life candidates won as well and helped undermine false criticism from the other side that somehow the pro-life issue is not one that resonates with African-Americans. But the NAACP makes no mention of their victories.
The Washington Free Beacon describes the latest NAACP antics:
GOP Deputy Press Secretary Raffi Williams slammed the NAACP for ignoring the historic elections of candidates Mia Love (R., Utah) and Tim Scott (R., S.C.). Williams criticized the NAACP on Twitter Thursday, saying “If the [NAACP] was a truly bipartisan org thay [sic] would support all blacks not just dem Blacks.”
Williams told Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt that “all black accomplishments in America should be congratulated.”
“The fact that we have more black people in elected office should be something to celebrate because it is for the advancement of all black people, despite your ideology,” Williams said.
“It’s an important step. It’s historic that Tim Scott is the first black person ever elected to both the House and the Senate if they choose to ignore it, I think it shows a fault on their part.”

naacpbIn the deep South, South Carolina voters sent pro-life Republican Tim Scott back to the U.S. Senate, making him the first black candidate to win a statewide race there since just after the Civil War. Scott is also the first African-American senator from the South since Reconstruction.
Meanwhile, in Utah, Mia Love won her congressional race to become the first black Republican woman in Congress. Love is a proudly pro-life candidate who had strong support from pro-life groups.
And in Texas, pro-life congressional candidate Will Hurd won his race, unseating Rep. Pete Gallego.
“I sleep like a baby every night knowing I did absolutely everything I could to win this race,” Hurd said of waiting until the bitter end for results. “We always knew it was going to come down to the very end.”
