Help Reverse the Damage Barack Obama has Done to America!!!

A very interesting post from www.hughhewitt.com about winning the Senate which is a KEY Step for reversing the course that Barack Obama has put America on. I, the blogger, have modified Mr. Hewitt's post with a grade scale from http://www.numbersusa.com/ of the incumbents in the Senate. This follows this post about the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is not reduced in the debt ceiling plan. This follows this post about the House GOP's communication problem and this article about  the recent news about ending the ban on offshore drilling which would encourage American energy independence This is a key issue to prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran  and Venezuela. For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and you can read a very interesting book HERE!

Obamanomics: 9.1% Unemployment a Relief
Bloggers note: You may read the grade of the incumbent HERE

Posted by: Hugh Hewitt http://www.hughhewitt.com/

Across the web relief is spreading that unemployment actually ticked down to 9.1% this morning. Even battered markets may take this as good news and rebound today. Perhaps there is an upper limit to the amount of economic damage that the president can do?

Or not. Here's an exchange from the White House Press Room yesterday (HT: Mike Allen's Playbook):

ABC’s Jake Tapper, to Jay Carney at yesterday’s briefing: “[W]hat is the President doing? … [W]e know that … he went to fundraisers last night. What is he doing today? … He stood up there and hectored Congress about all the stuff that needs to be done to help create jobs … and then he flew off to Chicago. What’s he doing today? … So the same stuff he was doing a couple of months ago, calling on Congress to pass things? … Has he called Mitch McConnell? Has he called John Boehner? … [I]s he working on things that they can do? … You’re the one that’s always saying the President can walk and chew gum at the same time. … Other than calling on Congress to pass things that you’ve been calling on Congress to pass for months, what is he doing to help the economy?”

--Carney: “He is working very closely with his senior economic advisors to come up with new proposals to help advance growth and job creation. He is working with members of Congress to help advance growth and job creation. And he will continue to do that. There are things that Congress can do now to create jobs, and they should; there are things that Congress will be able to do when they return from recess to help create jobs and spur growth, and they should. And he looks forward to working with Congress to do that.”

Obama's ideas are known to be the economic equivalent of Laetrile for cancer patients, so they won't be going anywhere in the House, period. All the president could do --and would do if he were serious about the joblessness-- is urge the repeal of Obamacare and the extension of current tax rates another 10 years along with a slashing of the corporate tax rate. Clarity and certainty about the basic rules of the game would do an enormous amount to achieve lift-off, but of course the president won't do that, so we are stuck in the Obama swamp until early 2013.

Which doesn't mean that markets won't begin to factor his defeat at the hands of the GOP nominee into the equation. The moment that Mitt Romney or any of the other nominees consolidates the signals of victory, he or she will become the message giver and that message will be a return to the pro-growth and pro-defense policies of Reagan. Markets will rise as a result. Obama will claim credit, but his number is the unemployment number, and as Chris Cillizza notes today it is hard to imagine that number being below 8.5% in 15 months, and certainly not below 8%, which is an enormous obstacle in his path to re-elect.

And where are the new jobs coming? Places like Texas and South Carolina, so the unemployment rate Obama gets credit for in places like California and Illinois are his to explain.

Michael Barone notes today the Rasmussen number about just how bad Americans feel about the economy. This is the rational response to the fact that the president is in charge and the president is an incompetent. In the private sector, the board of a publicly-traded company could move for his dismissal, but not our system. We are stuck with Chauncey Gardener for another year-and-a-half.

Time does fly, so markets won't wait until January 2013 to bet on the rebound that will come with competence, energy, optimism and sound growth policies, but employers will certainly want more than hope before adding significant numbers of new employees that bring with them Obamacare's burdens.

The best use of the time of Tea Party activists and grassroots Republicans is on the Senate campaigns listed in this column at Townhall.com.  If Mandel/Hasner/Cruz et al sweep into office along with a new president and an expanded House majority, imagine the overhaul that could follow within 100 days.  (By contrast, imagine the market crash if Obama managed a re-elect through a third party bit of mischief etc.)

The real recovery is two years away, but it can get here, and it can be big.

To make it easy for you, here are the big nine at this time:

NO GITMO TERRORISTS IN AMERICA!

An interesting article from www.moveamericaforward.org. You can get more interesting articles like this by subscribing to this blog here.

NO GITMO TERRORISTS IN AMERICA! MICHIGAN RESIDENTS FIGHTING BACK AGAINST LEAKED OBAMA PLAN TO BRING TERRORISTS TO THEIR COMMUNITY
In Standish, Mich., site of a nearly vacant prison, residents are beginning to realize that the Obama Administration is serious about bringing terrorists to the United States, where they will quickly achieve the rights that should be reserved ONLY for Americans and those legally here. Jennifer Granholm, the governor of Michigan, fears for her political life. She has been desperately seeking an alternative to the Obama plan, such as California or Pennsylvania sending prisoners to the Standish correctional facility. With recent news that California can’t afford to pay the costs of housing their inmates in Michigan, the governor is running out of ideas. Fortunately, residents of Standish are starting to recognize that it isn’t worth the risk of bringing more than 230 of the most dangerous Islamic radicals in the world to a small town that could be potentially vulnerable. Not only will these Islamic extremists try to recruit from within the prison population, think of the undesirable elements that will come to town to be close to these murderous cut-throats.In Standish, Mich., restaurant owner David Munson is organizing a community forum to oppose the potential transfer of prisoners from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to the local prison, which is facing budget cuts and likely to shut it down. "We don't want the Guantanamo people there," he told FOXNews.com. "And we felt like the situation was moving way too quickly to bring the Guantanamo people here."
FOX NEWS Obama is trying to shove Gitmo on America without listening to the opposition from the American people, just like he did with the bailouts, the take-over of the auto industry, the trillion dollars of wasteful spending and now his health insurance bill that would lead to a complete federalization of medicine. Too fast, no accountability, no communication with stakeholders, like the American people who might be under attack, and no consideration of the danger posed by these detainees. We can choose to put our own national security at risk, or we can continue to hold the terrorists at Gitmo, where an ideal facility has been built that abides by all international laws and is tailor-made for the purpose of housing these evil terrorists. The choice seems obvious: If it’s not BROKEN, don’t try to FIX IT! The only reason Obama has for doing this is to appease his fringe left-wing constituency, which would like to see the terrorists go free, and to reassure weak-kneed European governments that America would rather be an appeaser than a strong leader. But we cannot do it alone. We need your support so we can keep the fight going before it is too late and terrorists are literally on your doorstep.
Move America Forward is fighting to keep GITMO where it belongs, IN GITMO! We do not want GITMO in AMERICA, make a contribution today to keep the terrorists out of the U.S.! The FOX article says that the organizer of today’s town hall meeting was an early supporter of bringing the terrorists over to Standish, but after talking to Representative Pete Hoekstra, he changed his mind.Hoekstra, he said, told him the presence of Gitmo detainees could endanger the lives of prison guards and their families as well as the entire community, which would become the target of jihadists.Earlier this week, Hoekstra said that Obama’s administration has been making wild claims to the locals, trying to sell them on the idea that they will reap massive economic benefits from housing the terrorists. His stimulus plan has already been proven to be a failure, just a big waste of taxpayer money. Now he is trying to bamboozle Americans into thinking it is good for the economy to have terrorists in our country.Last week, the Michigan Republican sent letters to Attorney General Eric Holder and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, asking them to allow him to lead a delegation of state officials and media to the Guantánamo prison to gain a better understanding of associated risks. But he said he hasn’t heard back from either of them. “I’m getting a little frustrated with the administration,” Hoekstra said. “They’re making all kinds of promises and ‘commitments’ to local officials that they’re not willing to share with Members of Congress. I think it’s flat out wrong.”

Silvestre Reyes, A Profile in Mendacity

A very interesting article about the Representative from the western corner of Texas from www.redstate.com.

Silvestre Reyes, A Profile in Mendacity
Pelosi and Reyes Go To War With The CIA
Posted by Streiff (Profile)
Now we’re entering the second week of the contretemps over whether or not the CIA wrongfully concealed a program from the Congress.
What began as a slanging match between the CIA and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) now has the CIA teetering on the brink of open warfare with its long time allies, Congressional Democrats.
The genesis of this was a baldfaced attempt by Pelosi’s creature, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Silvestre Reyes (D-TX), to extract Pelosi from her unenviable position as a laughingstock and notorious liar.
This is by no means a new position for Pelosi but the latest manifestation occurred when her rather casual disregard for the truth was revealed by accusing the CIA of not briefing her on the so-called enhanced interrogation techniques used on al-Qaeda prisoners and she was called on her mendacity by numerous colleagues as well as the CIA. Techniques, by the way, which saved lives, prevented attacks, disrupted al-Qaeda networks, and resulted in the capture of some high ranking members of al-Qaeda and affiliated organizations. And as a result of being captured and interrogated the average prisoner has gained 20 pounds.
On July 7, some staffer from Reyes’s office, probably wearing a brown paper bag over his head, slipped a letter from Reyes under the door of ranking member Pete Hoekstra, after work hours, (I am not making this up) claiming the CIA had lied to the committee on some unspecified matter and stating he intended to investigate the CIA’s reporting procedures. Hoekstra has rightfully referred to that incident as “one of the most bizarre episodes in politics that I’ve seen in my time here in Washington.”
The letter, which seems to have hit the press concurrently with its receipt by Mr. Hoekstra, had the intended effect of arousing the media from their preferred position, which resembles nothing so much as remora sharks attached to the posterior of the Democrat party, to full investigatory mode striving to reveal yet another instance of malfeasance by the evil Bush Administration.
It also had the unintentional effect of raising questions about the precise nature of this program Reyes allegedly wasn’t briefed on.
As best we can ascertain the program in question was set up after September 11, 2001 to kill top members of al-Qaeda. Take your time and read that sentence again slowly. Yes. In the aftermath of 9/11 the CIA came up with the idea that hunting down and killing al-Qaeda leaders was something that at least merited consideration. The House Democrats are concerned they weren’t told about a program that was created to kill top members of al-Qaeda. And, of course, CIA Director Leon Panetta went fully supine at the first hint of having to take a stand and announced he had cancelled the program.
Based on reporting today, it seems virtually proven that the program in question was not subject to disclosure to Congress because, unsurprisingly considering that this involves the CIA, the program never advanced much beyond a metaphysical desire to kill al-Qaeda and then only when all conceivable risk had been eliminated. According to the NY Times, the Democrats are incensed not because they weren’t briefed on a program they were entitled to be briefed on, but because they were not briefed on a program the CIA had no obligation to disclose to them in first place.
Still Mr. Reyes, we are reliably informed, sent yet another letter to Mr. Hoekstra yesterday asking for his support in the planned investigation. We hope Mr. Hoekstra goes along.
As Erick pointed out last week, the Democrats are trying desperately to run against President Bush again in 2010. They are also using the CIA story, the Sotomayor nomination, and the possible prosecution of people who protected America from al-Qaeda as a smokescreen to divert attention from the socialization of large swaths of the economy through a takeover of health care, the crippling of American industry by way of cap-and-trade, and the utter failure of the Administration to take any action to mitigate the recession they have aggravated.
If hauling CIA officials before Congressional panels and destroying the minute levels of initiative that exist at Langley is what it takes to protect Pelosi and divert attention from the real game, then Reyes, who has apparently checked his manhood at the door, has demonstrated he is fully capable of doing so.
It is difficult, based on what has been published to date, to see how this ends well for the Democrats for a number of reasons:
There is no way Reyes can hope to hold a hearing on CIA reporting practices and not have the Pelosi matter given new life. Everyone knows Pelosi is lying on that particular count save, perhaps, Pelosi, herself, who in the past has shown a serene indifference to that fragile barrier that separates truth from falsehood.
The CIA is trotting out its own band of anonymous leakers to combat the lies and innuendos being flogged by Mr. Reyes.
The GOP will be asking the question that most Americans will be asking, “why was the program terminated?” (We will all be waiting breathlessly for Mr. Panetta’s answer.)
At some point a lot of Dems will begin realizing that blaming the Bush Administration for not disclosing a secret program to Congress will not be a killer campaign issue in 2010 or 2012. The Administration can’t possibly see any value in an ongoing conflict between CIA and Congress. And at some point both the Administration and Congressional Democrats are going to realize that trashing a program designed to kill al-Qaeda will be counterintuitive to most Americans.
By next week there is a 50-50 chance sanity will have set in and all of this will blow over. But we are talking about the Obama Administration, Reyes, and Pelosi. None of these have a record of much more than a nodding acquaintance with reality so this may yet escalate into full-blown warfare.
