White House Fence Breach Illustrates Elite’s Double Standards On Immigration

I don’t understand why everyone seems so upset about an armed intruder making it through the fence around the White House. [Security breach prompts more White House security, AOL, by Josh Lederman, Sep 21, 2014] After all, Mr. Omar Gonzalez is simply taking the President’s immigration policy to its logical conclusion—and we are told he meant no harm. [White House intruder owns ‘firepower,’ but meant no harm: Ex-stepson, Associated Press, September 21, 2014] If it’s immoral to keep people out of America—why isn’t it immoral to keep them off the White House lawn?
Mr. Gonzalez simply leapt over the fence like so many people south of the border do to enter our country illegally every day. But unlike the President, ordinary Americans don’t have a phalanx of armed guards or reporters screaming for more security. Instead, we simply have the consequences of an ongoing invasion—and none of the people upset about Mr. Gonzalez’s transgressions seem to care about that.
But perhaps now President Obama can begin to understand why so many of us who are left completely on our own are deeply concerned about our security. And perhaps it will get through why adding millions of illegal aliens with unknown loyalties and intentions to our already overburdened population is such a terribly immoral idea.
The American population now stands at 320 million people—a dramatic increase from the 135 million Americans of the Franklin Roosevelt era. This astonishing addition took place within my own lifetime. The United States is set to reach 450 million people by the middle of the century.
The sheer weight of numbers is enough to collapse the American way of life. And even as the burdens pile up on our struggling taxpayers, President Obama wants us to intervene in a foreign religious war.
While the American working and middle class is squeezed by mass immigration and foreign intervention abroad, the 1% of Americans who own 40% of American wealth and 100% of American government receive privileges the rest of us can’t even imagine.
We all want President Obama to receive extensive Secret Service protection, but why should the wealthy individuals pushing mass immigration get gated estates and exclusive communities? Look at Mark Zuckerberg, who demands an Amnesty/Immigration surge for the rest of us but bought up an entire neighborhood to make sure he didn’t have to live next to anyone else. One set of rules for them—another for us. And it’s about time the politicians hear that we won’t take it anymore.
Is now the time to express our outrage at the inaction of both parties on patriotic immigration reform? You bet it is.

Mexico's rise in crime, violence, drugs and kindnappings indicate it's headed towards an inevitable downfall. What will this mean for the United States?

Even in terms of annual legal crossings on the U.S.Mexican border, the estimated number of 300,000 makes it the world's busiest. Yet the possibility of a failed Mexican state ranks high among American international worries.
A regular column in the International Herald Tribune asked: "What do Pakistan and Mexico have in common? They figure in the nightmares of U.S. military planners trying to peer into the future and identify the next big threats. The two countries are mentioned in the same breath in a just-published study by the United States Joint Forces Command, whose jobs include providing an annual look into the future to prevent the U.S. military from being caught off guard by unexpected developments " (Bernd Debusmann, "Among Top U.S. Fears, a Failed Mexican State," Jan. 9, 2009, p. 2).
Both of these countries are close to the top in the reported rankings of failed states subject to rapid and sudden collapse. The dangers associated with Pakistan are more painfully obvious. A retired American intelligence analyst said in December 2008 that Pakistan is "one of the single most challenging places on the planet" (ibid.).
Mexico is more of a surprise. One paragraph in the article reflects the gravity of Mexico's plight: "Vicious and widening violence pitting the drug cartels against each other and against the Mexican state have left more than 8,000 Mexicans dead over the past two years. Kidnappings have become a routine part of Mexican daily life. Common crime is widespread. Pervasive corruption has hollowed out the state" (ibid.).
Mexico's governmental infrastructure remains under continual pressure and assault by drug cartels and other criminal gangs. The Joint Forces Command study plainly stated: "Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response based on the serious implications for Homeland Security alone. One minor indication is that the Mexican border town of Tijuana is now off-limits to American marines because of its increasing violence" (Chris Ayres, "You Wanna Die Tonight, Gringo?" TUSD MEChA Comes Under Scrutiny

TUSD MEChA Comes Under Scrutiny

TUSD’s schools have MEChA chapters and not even the district’s Superintendent knows if they are sanctioned by the district. If you don’t know what MEChA is, you are among hundreds of thousands of Tucsonans, including this author, who didn’t know and didn’t care.

The group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán came under scrutiny as a result of the Tucson Unified School District’s appeal of the finding by Superintendent of Public Instruction (SOPI) that TUSD’s Mexican American Studies classes violate state law. In violation of state law, the classes are designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group, promote resentment towards a race or class of people, and advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.

Not until the district’s superintendent testified at the hearing as to an email he received from Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lupita Cavazos-Garcia was much attention paid to the TUSD group in and out of the district. In the email, Dr. Garcia expressed her concerns regarding MEChA’s efforts to recruit students for an “occupied peoples” conference at which Palestinian and TUSD students would be sharing their experiences living in “occupied” territories.

Dr. Garcia wrote that at the time of Pedicone’s hiring she had expressed to him, “my deep concern” about MEChA at TUSD. She pointed out the organization’s “anti-Semitic tone and tenor on our campuses.” She went on to state that the some of the district’s students have little emotional support and “our Raza students are ripe for this kind of influence.”

Local Raza propagandist the Three Sonorans, otherwise known as David Abie Morales, writes that some of Tucson most prominent leaders were formerly members of MEChA. He list among them controversial Congressman Raul Grijalva, who was instrumental in the Mexican American/Raza Studies class development when he was on the TUSD Governing Board. His daughter is Adelita Grijalva, who currently sits on the TUSD Governing Board. City Council member Regina Romero, who finds herself in a very close primary this year against local Tucson businessman and anti-Grijalva establishment democrat Jose Flores, and her highly controversial husband Rubin Reyes, who is a staff member of the elder Grijalva’s congressional staff, among others.

So, who is MEChA? In their own words, from their website…..

“Essentially, we are a Chicana and Chicano student movement directly linked to Aztlán. As Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán, we are a nationalist movement of Indigenous Gente that lay claim to the land that is ours by birthright. As a nationalist movement we seek to free our people from the exploitation of an oppressive society that occupies our land. Thus, the principle of nationalism serves to preserve the cultural traditions of La Familia de La Raza and promotes our identity as a Chicana/Chicano Gente.”

“In March of 1969, at Denver, Colorado the Crusade for Justice organized the first National Chicano Youth Liberation Conference that drafted the basic premises for the Chicana/Chicano Movement in El Plan de Aztlán.”

“The following month, in April of 1969, over 100 Chicanas/Chicanos came together at University of California, Santa Barbara to formulate a plan for higher education: El Plan de Santa Barbara. With this document they were successful in the development of two very important contributions to the Chicano Movement: Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA) and Chicano Studies.”

“The adoption of the name Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan signaled a new level of political consciousness among student activists. It was the final stage in the transformation of what had been loosely organized, local student groups, into a single structure and a unified student movement.”

“Adamant rejection of the label “Mexican-American” meant rejection of the assimilation and accommodationist melting pot ideology that had guided earlier generations of activists. Chicanismo involves a crucial distinction in a political consciousness between a Mexican-American (Hispanic) and a Chicana/o mentality. El Plan de Santa Barbara speaks to such issues of identity politics by asserting:

“The Mexican-American (Hispanic) is a person who lacks respect for his/her cultural and ethnic heritage. Unsure of her/himself, she/he seeks assimilation as a way out of her/his “degraded” social status. Consequently, she/he remains politically ineffective. In contrast, Chicanismo reflects self-respect and pride on one’s ethnic and cultural background. Thus, the Chicana/o acts with confidence and with a range of alternatives in the political world. She/he is capable of developing an effective ideology through action” (El Plan de Santa Barbara).

“MEChA played an important role in the creation and implementation of Chicana/o Studies and support services programs on campus. Chicana/o Studies programs would be a relevant alternative to established curricula. Most important, the Chicana/o Studies program would be the foundation of MEChA’s political power base. Today many Chicana/os Studies Programs would have difficulty operating if it were not for the enthusiasm and dedication of Mechistas to Chicana/o Studies.”

“We, as Mechistas, see the process of Chicanismo as evolutionary. We recognize that no one is born politically Chicana or Chicano. Chicanismo results from a decision based on a political consciousness for our Raza, to dedicate oneself to building a Chicana/Chicano Nation. Chicanismo is a concept that integrates self-awareness with cultural identity, a necessary step in developing political consciousness. Therefore the term Chicano is grounded in a philosophy, not a nationality. Chicanismo does not exclude anyone, rather it includes those who acknowledge and work toward the betterment of La Raza.”

“Chicanismo involves a personal decision to reject assimilation and work towards the preservation of our cultural heritage. Recognizing that all people are potential Chicanas and Chicanos, we encourage those interested in developing a total commitment to our movement for self-determination for the people of Aztlán to join Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán.”

“Finally, as Mechistas, we vow to work for the liberation of Aztlán, leading to socioeconomic and political justice for our Gente. MEChA then, is more than a name; it is a spirit of unity by comadrismo/carnalismo, and a resolution to undertake a struggle for liberation! Tierra y Libertad!”

Eva Longoria Earns Master's Degree in Chicano Studies

Eva Longoria got to toss her graduation cap with her fellow Cal State University Northridge students on Wednesday!

"Big day today!!!" the 38-year-old actress Tweeted. "Very excited to graduate for my Master's degree in Chicano Studies! You're never too old or too busy to continue your education!"

According to TMZ, Eva spent three years completing her degree, which she began while still working on "Desperate Housewives." She spent time doing school work on the set of the ABC drama.

The actress' degree is not honorary and she reportedly attended classes in person at the Southern California university. Her thesis was reportedly titled, "Success STEMS From Diversity: The Value of Latinas in STEM Careers" (STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and math).

After Wednesday's ceremony, Eva did what many college graduates do - had dinner with her parents.

The actress previously earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M University.

This angry, and very unfunny rant, was recently uttered by Mexican-American comedian George Lopez to a large audience which applauded loudly. ).

Why is George Lopez, a professional comedian, so angry at Joe Arpaio, sheriff of Arizona’s Maricopa County, fighting the illegal invasion of his county?

Lopez is a successful Mexican-American entertainer who has based his career on being Mexican-American. Born in 1961 in California, and eventually abandoned by both his parents, George was raised by his maternal grandmother who provides many of the anecdotes in his stand-up routine.

Besides his long career in stand-up comedy, Lopez has hosted a radio show, been an NFL commentator, acted on television and in movies. From 2002 to 2007 he was the producer, writer and star of the “George Lopez” sitcom, which was followed by hosting TV talk show Lopez Tonight, from 2009 to 2011. George Lopez has published his autobiography, Why You Crying? co-written by CBS’s Armen Keteyian and has a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

So George Lopez is a celebrity in today’s celebrity-crazed society. And he’s richer than most of us will ever be. And yet, like Eva Longoria and other prominent Mexican-American celebrities, there is something in George Lopez’s soul that doesn’t identify with, and even seems to resent, the historical American nation.

For example, unlike most Americans, George Lopez opposes Arizona’s SB 1070. Why is that?

If Lopez weren’t a Mexican-American, he wouldn’t even be famous. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t his whole shtick based on his identity as a Mexican-American?

When the George Lopez sitcom was cancelled in 2007, Lopez made a racial case out of it, bellyaching that “TV just became really, really white again.” (According to DNA testing, George Lopez is 55% white, but of course he doesn’t identify as white). Complaining about another program entitled “Caveman”, Lopez reasoned that



So a...Chicano can't be on TV but a...caveman can?" "And a Chicano with an audience already? You know when you get in this that shows do not last forever, but this was an important show and to go unceremoniously like this hurts? [Lopez apparently can't stop swearing for ten minutes--The three dot ellipses are the LA TIMES’s for what they call “ colorful language that cannot be printed in a family newspaper”.]

Well, I’ve never had my own sitcom, nor have most white Americans, yet Lopez had one for five years. So who’s being discriminated against?

Some might say, “Lopez is just a comedian, don’t take it seriously.” But there’s a Spanish proverb that says “Entre broma y broma, la verdad se asoma”—“Between joke and joke, the truth is shown”. Comedians have agendas too.

I did some random listening to some of Lopez’s work on YouTube. It’s sometimes humorous, but it can get old. And some of it would certainly get a white Anglo into trouble—for example, this routine here, about a limited-English Latino employee in the drive-through of a Jack in the Box fast food restaurant, with the accent and everything.

A common theme running through Lopez’ work is that Latinos are vibrant, exciting, spontaneous people, while white people are effete and uptight.

In this video of It’s Not Me, It’s You, Lopez boast of Latinos stealing warning signs for mopped floors to be used as soccer goalposts, about Latinos drinking in front of their children, and about stealing from the White House. When asked what kind of American would steal from the President, Lopez replies “a Mexican-American”.

Lopez boasts about Latino kids not being spoiled and contrasts them with white kids who are “entitled” and all on Ritalin.

Lopez says “Latinas are beautiful. The problem is you got to get ‘em before they get fat. “

Another Lopez line: “You can’t get 25 black and Latino people together unless you have drugs and alcohol.”

Lopez talks about his grandmother being racist against blacks and jokes about Sonia Sotomayor getting injured and collecting worker’s comp before entering the Supreme Court.

Near the beginning, Lopez indignantly declares:



“We [Latinos] get blamed for so much sh-t and we take it. I’m telling you tonight, we don’t have to take that sh-t anymore. It’s our time.” At the end of the video he cries “Viva Mexico, Viva la La Raza!”



In another video, Lopez begins with some Latino triumphalism:



Let me say this about immigration so you finally hear it from a Latino. We ain’t going nowhere… The stupidest thing to do is to assume that we’re all from Mexico. "Well, what part of Mexico are your ancestors from?” Los Angeles, bitch. I got a breathtaking view of the King Taco, it’s lovely, I watch people get shanked every weekend.

Indeed, Lopez almost speaks proudly of Latino crime:” We don’t go for extreme sports, you know, walking in our f---ing neighborhood is an extreme sport.”

The comedian ridicules deportation, depicting an illegal alien saying to his aunt “I gotta go back to Mexico, I’ll be right back, though, watch my plate. “

(Of course, he has a point here, with our ridiculously low deportation rate and lack of punishment for repeat offenders).

In the same video, Lopez ridicules California’s then-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s accent, saying that it makes him a hypocrite to support “English Only”. Lopez curses both Schwarzenegger and President Bush with a “F--- that, puto!”

After all that pandering, this is the thanks Bush receives!

Now, getting back to the “It’s Not Me, It’s You” show, which includes the anti-Arpaio rant: the entire show is here, Lopez' comments on Romney and Arpaio are here.

Near the beginning, Lopez goes off into a “Hispanics Decide the Election” riff:



This is an election year; we all know it’s an election year. Latinos have the most powerful vote in this country. [Applause building] The Latino vote is very powerful. We have to realize that our vote can change the course of this political campaign. We can elect the president. We!



Later, he makes fun of Mitt Romney:



Mitt Romney wants the Latino vote. He ain't gonna get it. (BOOING) He ain’t gonna get it. And you know why? Because Mitt Romney is a f---in' Latino and he won’t admit it. His father was born in Chihuahua, México. Mitt Romney is a Chicano but he won’t admit it. "I’m not, I’m Danish, I’m French." [imitating Romney]

[Directed to Romney] If you want our vote, puto, come out of the closet. Get a hairnet and lean back and say,”My llamo Mitt pero me puede llamar guante.” [“But you can call me ‘guante’—Spanish for mitt, in the sense of glove.]



As for the Arpaio rant, there is no nuance to it, no explanation, it just burst forth. It isn’t even funny. Lopez seems genuinely angry.

Bu his audience loves it, as the angry comedian curses a man many Americans admire, a man who takes seriously the charge he has been entrusted with.

Joe Arpaio has served as sheriff of Maricopa County for twenty years, having first been elected in 1992, then re-elected four times.

How many elections has George Lopez run in? Why is George Lopez so angry that Sheriff Arpaio is trying to enforce the law?

Why is George Lopez so angry about our immigration law being enforced?

What does this say about Mexican assimilation?

“The following month, in April of 1969, over 100 Chicanas/Chicanos came together at University of California, Santa Barbara to formulate a plan for higher education: El Plan de Santa Barbara. With this document they were successful in the development of two very important contributions to the Chicano Movement: Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA) and Chicano Studies.”



“The adoption of the name Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan signaled a new level of political consciousness among student activists. It was the final stage in the transformation of what had been loosely organized, local student groups, into a single structure and a unified student movement.”



“Adamant rejection of the label “Mexican-American” meant rejection of the assimilation and accommodationist melting pot ideology that had guided earlier generations of activists. Chicanismo involves a crucial distinction in a political consciousness between a Mexican-American (Hispanic) and a Chicana/o mentality. El Plan de Santa Barbara speaks to such issues of identity politics by asserting:



“The Mexican-American (Hispanic) is a person who lacks respect for his/her cultural and ethnic heritage. Unsure of her/himself, she/he seeks assimilation as a way out of her/his “degraded” social status. Consequently, she/he remains politically ineffective. In contrast, Chicanismo reflects self-respect and pride on one’s ethnic and cultural background. Thus, the Chicana/o acts with confidence and with a range of alternatives in the political world. She/he is capable of developing an effective ideology through action” (El Plan de Santa Barbara).



“MEChA played an important role in the creation and implementation of Chicana/o Studies and support services programs on campus. Chicana/o Studies programs would be a relevant alternative to established curricula. Most important, the Chicana/o Studies program would be the foundation of MEChA’s political power base. Today many Chicana/os Studies Programs would have difficulty operating if it were not for the enthusiasm and dedication of Mechistas to Chicana/o Studies.”



“We, as Mechistas, see the process of Chicanismo as evolutionary. We recognize that no one is born politically Chicana or Chicano. Chicanismo results from a decision based on a political consciousness for our Raza, to dedicate oneself to building a Chicana/Chicano Nation. Chicanismo is a concept that integrates self-awareness with cultural identity, a necessary step in developing political consciousness. Therefore the term Chicano is grounded in a philosophy, not a nationality. Chicanismo does not exclude anyone, rather it includes those who acknowledge and work toward the betterment of La Raza.”

“Chicanismo involves a personal decision to reject assimilation and work towards the preservation of our cultural heritage. Recognizing that all people are potential Chicanas and Chicanos, we encourage those interested in developing a total commitment to our movement for self-determination for the people of Aztlán to join Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán.”



“Finally, as Mechistas, we vow to work for the liberation of Aztlán, leading to socioeconomic and political justice for our Gente. MEChA then, is more than a name; it is a spirit of unity by comadrismo/carnalismo, and a resolution to undertake a struggle for liberation! Tierra y Libertad!”

“Kill the Gringo”; Arizona Reconquista Ethnic Studies = Racist Violence 101

The back story to HB 2281, the law passed by Arizona state legislators banning Reconquista “ethnic studies” is that the inquiry into “ethnic studies” was provoked by pervasive racist violence that Hispanic kids were committing against white and black kids, and that parents discovered that the “expert,” “Raza [Race] Studies” educators were teaching Hispanic students to kill whites, except that the educators used a term that is the equivalent to “nigger” or “honkey” to describe whites: “gringo.” As in, “Kill the gringo.”

[Pedagogy of the Oppressed, by communist Paulo Freire] is required reading in “Raza Studies” or Mexican-American courses in the high schools in Tucson, Arizona, where students have been protesting Arizona’s new immigration law. Other required books are Occupied America by Rodolfo Acuña, a professor emeritus of Chicano studies at California State University in Northridge (CSUN), and Prison Notebooks by Antonio Gramsci, the Italian Communist.
Occupied America, the fifth edition, includes an image of Fidel Castro on the front cover, and Castro and Che Guevara on the back cover. It refers to white people as “gringos” and actually includes a quotation on page 323 from Jose Angel Gutierrez of the Mexican American Youth Organization (MAYO), who was angry over the cancellation of a government program. He declared:“We are fed up. We are going to move to do away with the injustice to the Chicano and if the ‘gringo’ doesn’t get out of our way, we will stampede over him.”The book goes on:“Gutierrez attacked the gringo establishment angrily at a press conference and called upon Chicanos to ‘Kill the gringo,’ which meant to end white control over Mexicans.”Reviewing this material for the National Association of Scholars,
Ashley Thorne commented that, “Actually, ‘kill the gringo’ meant ‘kill the gringo.’ But admitting that makes Mexicans look radical, infuriated, revolutionary, Acuña sidestepped that image and substituted it with one of browbeaten Latinos rising to overthrow injustice.”The Arizona citizens upset about this kind of material said that they initiated an investigation into the problem back in 2007 and found it difficult to get access to the books. One activist said the concern began when parents came to be aware of violence in the schools directed against white and black children. “This investigation was undertaken to find the roots of this hate,” she told me. Another person, in turn, “told me the books in their Mexican-American classes are kept under ‘lock and key’ and the kids can’t even take them home. She said she asked to see them but they were very secretive about them and she was prohibited.”However, the citizen activists persisted, demanding access to the books under a state open records law. This revolutionary fervor is even more pronounced in Occupied America, which tells the story of the Southwestern United States from the perspective of Mexican Americans and has been called “the Chicano bible.” The book is sympathetic to Mexico in a reference to the battle at the Alamo….In another place, Acuña wrote: Gutiérrez attacked the gringo establishment angrily at a press conference and called upon Chicanos to ‘kill the gringo,’ which meant to end white control over Mexicans. Actually, “kill the gringo” means “kill the gringo.” Jose Angel Gutiérrez, who is referenced here, is the co-founder of the Raza Unida Party, a U.S. political third party. At a 1995 conference Gutiérrez declared, “We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him.” Today Gutiérrez is a professor of political science at the University of Texas at Arlington. The Raza studies program housed its revolutionary aims in terms of “transformation” and social justice.” Among its goals were to “Advocate for and provide curriculum that is centered within the pursuit of social justice,” “Work towards the invoking of a critical consciousness within each and every student,” and “Promote and advocate for social and educational transformation.” While such aims and books do not explicitly call for the overthrow of the U.S. government, they do seek to stir up in students a racial consciousness that perceives white Americans as the enemy and oppressor. Freire invites minority students to identify themselves as victims and to fight back [read: violently assault whites].
