He is the No. 4 Republican and bears great influence over what comes to the floor for votes. Many of you have reported that his staff has been telling our callers that he doesn't have anything to do with what comes to the floor. That simply is not true. Rep. Hensarling's position gives him the ear of the Speaker of the House as very few other Members of Congress do.



We need the staff of the Chairman of the House Republican Conference to spend all day today taking calls from those of you in Texas and bordering states talking about the need to move a bill to mandate E-Verify.

Please start with ONE of these openings:



(a) Time is running out. It's the middle of July and you Republicans still haven't done a thing about immigration.



(b) 8 million illegal aliens are still holding jobs, and you Republicans haven't done anything to move them out to make room for all the unemployed Americans who want those jobs in construction and service.



(c) A mandatory E-Verify bill needs to be voted out of the House before August recess.



(d) If Republicans really care about jobs, they need to move a mandatory E-Verify bill out of the House before the August recess.



(e) I'm calling to urge Chairman Hensarling to put millions of Americans back to work by passing a mandatory E-Verify bill this summer.



(f) Please tell the Conference Chairman that Americans need a mandatory E-Verify bill to come to the floor for a vote this summer and put unemployed Americans back to work.



STEP 4: FINISH YOUR MESSAGE



Just say a couple of things and then get off the call to allow more people to call in. Here are some possible talking points.



(a) The Republicans have controlled the House for six months and done nothing about getting illegal aliens out of jobs that unemployed Americans want. It's past time to bring a mandatory E-Verify bill to the floor.



(b) You may think you have lots of time to take up immigration issues, but 22 million Americans who can't find a full-time job are desperate for you to act. A mandatory E-Verify bill would start opening up the 7 million jobs now held by illegal aliens in construction and service and manufacturing.



(c) If you don't start moving an E-Verify bill next week, you are going to run out of time to pass it before the August recess. Jobless Americans deserve better.
