This Issue: Only 2 Days until Executive Amnesty takes effect

In just two short days, the Obama Administration's Executive Amnesty goes into effect. This policy provides deferred action (protection from deportation) and work permits to illegal aliens who are under the age of 31, came to the U.S. under the age of 16, and are in school or have a high school diploma or GED.
Despite the Administration's original claim that it would impact about 800,000 illegal aliens, a new estimate this week from the Migration Policy Institute says that closer to 1.8 million aliens would be eligible for the amnesty. The Associated Press reported earlier this summer that 53% of recent college graduates are out of work. Now they'll have an additional 1.8 million workers to compete with for jobs.
Pro-amnesty groups have been working hard to help as many illegal aliens apply for the Executive Amnesty as possible. Rep. Luis Gutierrez has called the policy "irreversible" and said it's the "most important development in two decades for undocumented immigrants and we intend to get as many young people as are eligible signed up and into the system."
What's the price tag for amnesty and a work permit for these illegal aliens? A mere $465, and some could pay nothing if they can show a financial hardship. The Department of Homeland Security estimates the total cost of the amnesty to be about $585 million, and taxpayers may have to make up a possible $100 million shortfall.
Rep. Gutierrez is right. Once the two-year work permits are in the hands of illegal aliens, it will be nearly impossible to reverse the policy.
NumbersUSA is keeping the pressure on to oppose this amnesty. You will see we have posted a new fax for you to send to Pres. Obama and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano urging both of them to stop the amnesty. Visit your Action Board to send this fax!
