An urgent post from www.Numbersusa.com about E-verify in Texas. This follows this previous post about state immigration enforcement efforts in North Carolina, Oregon and Texas. This follows this post about congressional redistricting and this follows this post which shows that there are 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso, where President Barack Obama recently bashed immigration enforcement! On a related note, you can read about Miss Kentucky Latina here, an interesting article about Jessica Alba here or another article about Salma Hayek here. Tell Gov. Perry, Legislators To Pass E-Verify Bill in Addition to Other Immigration-Enforcement Legislation
This is a special message for Numbers USA members in Texas.
Dear Texas activist,
Gov. Perry just allowed legislators to take up special session legislation that would prohibit sanctuary cities, require local police to enroll in the federal Secure Communities program, and crack down on the issuance of driver's licenses to illegal aliens. His proclamation expanding the special session agenda excludes E-Verify.
We need to convince Gov. Perry to add E-Verify to the agenda for the special session, and persuade legislators to support all of the enforcement legislation under consideration. Please follow the instructions below for contacting Gov. Perry and your legislators.
Action for Gov. Perry
Please call and email Gov. Perry with the message:
“Thank you for adding immigration-enforcement legislation to the special session. Now please add an E-Verify bill like HB 1275. In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Texans want a mandatory E-Verify law for all employers NOW!”

Action for Legislative Leaders
Please call and email House Speaker Joe Straus and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (leader of the Texas Senate) with the message:
“Please pass the immigration-enforcement measures Gov. Perry added to the special session. And if he calls up E-Verify legislation (like HB 1275), please support that measure as well.
All policies that shield illegal aliens from detection must be ended. Plus, in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Texans want a mandatory E-Verify law for all employers NOW!”

Action for your Rep. and Senator
Please call and email your Rep. and Senator with the message:
“I am a constituent who wants you to support the immigration-enforcement measures Gov. Perry added to the special session. And if he calls up E-Verify legislation (like HB 1275), please support that measure as well.
All policies that shield illegal aliens from detection must be ended. Plus, in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, your constituents want a mandatory E-Verify law for all employers NOW!”
You can look up contact information for your legislator under these links for the Senate http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/senate/Members.htm

Additional Talking Points
Another police officer was just killed by an illegal-alien drunk driver. Sanctuary policies must end! These policies are not needed to protect witnesses and crime victims who are illegal aliens because they are protected under the federal “U” visa.
The recent Supreme Court decision should remove any doubt you have about the constitutionality of states enforcing federal immigration laws. Sanctuary policies are prohibited under federal law so the state must step in to bring sanctuary cities in conformance.
The Court also said states can require all employers to use E-Verify. Now please employ it in Texas to help our jobless.
Unless you require all employers to use E-Verify, Texans seeking jobs in the construction and service sectors will be left to fend for themselves.
