Top Immigration-Reduction Democrats (if you're looking for a Democratic incumbent to support, here are some nominations)

A timely post from http://www.numbersusa.com/  about Immigration Enforcement DEMOCRATS. This follows this post about Los Angeles County extending the 287(g) program. This follows this post about the border with Mexico and the Falcon Lake murder and this post which shows that there are 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso. Top Immigration-Reduction Democrats (if you're looking for a Democratic incumbent to support, here are some nominations)

We know that most of our NumbersUSA members are dedicated either to the Republican or Democratic Party because of a wide array of issues and ideologies that are dear to you.

Today, I'm writing for those of you who are wondering where you can make contributions to congressional Democratic incumbents nationwide who have been the most reliable in resisting immigration increases and in working for reductions.

Here are the 18 Democrats who have earned a Grade-B or better for both their Career and for This Congress.

DEMOCRATS WITH Grade 'A+' OVER THEIR CAREER

(Grades in parentheses below are the incumbent's This Congress grade for only actions in 2009-2010.)

MISSISSIPPI

•Rep. Gene Taylor (A-minus)

'A' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

GEORGIA

•Rep. Jim Marshall (B+)

NORTH CAROLINA

•Rep. Heath Shuler (B)

'A-minus' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

GEORGIA

•Rep. John Barrow (B)

'B+' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

MONTANA

•Sen. Jon Tester (B)

'B' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

ALABAMA

•Rep. Bobby Bright (B)

FLORIDA

•Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (B)

IDAHO

•Rep. Walt Minnick (B)

INDIANA

•Rep. Joe Donnelly (B)

•Rep. Brad Ellsworth (B)

LOUISIANA

•Rep. Charles Melancon (B)

MARYLAND

•Rep. Frank Kratovil (B)

NORTH CAROLINA

•Rep. Larry Kissell (B)

•Rep. Mike McIntyre (B+)

OREGON

•Rep. Peter DeFazio (B)

PENNSYLVANIA

•Rep. Jason Altmire (B)

•Rep. Patrick J. Murphy (B)

VIRGINIA

•Rep. Glenn Nye (B)

Those 18 have consistently had a good-to-excellent record of supporting less immigration, both over their entire career and during the most recent Congress (2009-2010).

For some of these, their Career and This Congress cover the same amount of time because they were just elected in 2008.

For honorable mention, I would also note Rep. Rick Boucher of Virginia whose Career grade is "B-minus" but who was the Democrat with the best record in This Congress, earning an "A."

BUCKING DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP

Generally, I consider a "B" grade to be a luke-warm sort of record. It certainly doesn't show much leadership.

On the other hand, a "B" grade does show some real independence and even courage when earned by a Democrat.

Why? Because the Democratic Party's leadership is so aggressively in favor of high immigration, high importation of foreign workers and high U.S. population growth. Consider that both the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi earned "F-minus" grades for their total support for more foreign workers during This Congress (2009-2010).

Unfortunately, the majority of Democrats in This Congress were pulled substantially into Reid's and Pelosi's open-borders orbit.

But the Democratic incumbents listed above bucked their Party's leadership and their Party peers in order to take generally good immigration stands that favor unemployed Americans and environmental sustainability through lower immigration levels.

LISTING OF GRADES FOR ALL DEMOCRATS

You can look at the full list of all current congressional Democrats, sorted by the Career grades at:

http://www.numbersusa.com/content/my/tools/grades/list/0/CONGRESS/US/D/Grade/Active#tabset-3

If you want to re-sort that list by alphabetical order of last names (so you can more easily find a specific Member of Congress), look at the "Sort By" box in the upper right of the page. You'll see "Grade" listed. Click on the drop-down box and click "Name" to see all the Members in alpha order.

For the grades in This Congress alone, go to:

http://www.numbersusa.com/content/my/tools/grades/list/0/CONGRESS/US/D/Grade/Active#tabset-1

If you are committed to supporting only Democratic candidates, I recommend the Members of Congress listed above.

If you want to see what kind of immigration promises are being made by their Republican challengers, check out the Candidate Comparison pages here:
