On December 16, 1773 there was a revolution in the Boston harbor. On November 2, 2010 there will be a revolution on Election Day. It’s Tea Party time in America. In the Senate alone, the Tea Party earthquake hit Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Kentucky, Delaware, Alaska, and Florida. But where do these anti-establishment candidates stand on Immigration issues? Where do these 7 key Senate candidates stand on Immigration Reduction? Reading the Tea leaves reveals an uncertain future.



The Tea Party movement may be the biggest story line of the 2010 midterm elections. Names like Christine O’Donnell, Sharron Angle, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Joe Miller were all elected by a conservative force of motivated voters.



In 1964 Senator Barry Goldwater was a rebel force against the GOP leadership, sticking out his tongue and thumbing his nose at the country-club Republicans. He went on to lose the presidential election by a massive landslide to President Lyndon B. Johnson and nearly destroyed the entire Republican Party. But from these ashes, a new guard of younger conservatives emerged rallying around a young actor named Ronald Reagan who became Governor of California in 1967. Goldwater became revered as “Mr. Conservative” and the Republican Party emerged stronger than ever. Could history be repeating itself with the Tea Party movement? Is the ghost of Goldwater thumbing his nose at the Republican elites one more time?



There are 7 candidates running on November 2, 2010 who very well may be the living ghost of Goldwater past:

•Mike Lee (R), Utah vs. Sam Granato (D)

•Rand Paul (R), Kentucky vs. Jack Conway (D)

•Christine O’Donnell (R), Delaware vs. Chris Coons (D)

•Joe Miller (R), Alaska vs. Scott McAdams (D) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (I)

•Marco Rubio (R), vs. Kendrick Meek (D) and Charlie Crist (I)

The Immigration debate was thrust into the national spotlight this year with a little enforcement law called Arizona SB 1070 and followed up with Sen. Harry Reid sneaking the DREAM Act amnesty into a routine Defense Bill. SB 1070 is set for battle in the appeals court system and the DREAM Act amnesty was stopped in the Senate but may become a nightmare during the lame duck session kicking off on November 15, 2010.



"Immigration is one of the top five issues this election season. Candidates who have taken the NumbersUSA Immigration-Reduction Survey and agree on most of the important Immigration issues are called "True Reform" candidates. There are over 100 candidates running on November 2 who have earned “True Reform” status. But only two Tea Party candidates for Senate have taken the survey. Only 2 of the 7 took the time to complete the very important Immigration-Reduction Survey. Sharron Angle and Joe Miller are “True Reformer” candidates.



Where do Ken Buck, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Christine O’Donnell and Marco Rubio stand on: (1) Sanctuary Cities, (2) Chain Migration, and (3) Visa Lottery? We just don’t know. We do know a few things about other immigration issues.



On Birthright Citizenship, Mike Lee wants to end it and Marco Rubio wants to keep it. Ken Buck, Rand Paul, and Christine O’Donnell have no statement either way. In 2008, about 344,000 babies were born to parents of whom at least one was an illegal immigrant. According to the current interpretation of the 14th Amendment in the Constitution, these babies are American citizens. These children represented 8% of the 4.3 million births in the United States that year. Of these Tea Party candidates on Birthright Citizenship, 3 want to change it (Angle, Miller, Lee), 1 one wants to keep it (Rubio) and the other 3 have no position (Buck, Paul, O’Donnell).



One Immigration issue all these candidates agree on is that Congress should fund and provide oversight for the full implementation of Border Security measures that are already signed into law. They also all agree that that national Healthcare is no good, Unemployment is too high, Bailouts don’t work and the Stimulus went wrong.
