Defund DHS, Reject Loretta Lynch—But Only Impeachment Will Stop Obamnesty

Dr. Ben Carson is willing to say about Obama that “I think we can start talking about treason.” White Republicans should be saying that, but they’re afraid of being called racist.

Another day in the death of the Republic:

As I write this evening (Monday February 23) it’s too still early to tell if, by proposing to split a vote on funding Obamnesty from the overall Department of Homeland Security funding bill, voting on the former first, Mitch McConnell is trying to wriggle out of using the power of the purse to stop Obamnesty, as the GOP leadership has repeatedly promised, or whether, as the National Journal puts it, Mitch McConnell Looks to Trap Democrats With a Standalone Immigration Bill (by Lauren Fox and Sarah Mimms, February 23, 2015).
Or both. Or neither. Whatever—the bottom line:

1. The irresistible force meeting the immoveable object of Democratic intransigence is…continuing grassroots resistance from ordinary Americans.

The ludicrous vacillations of the GOP’s venal Conservatism Inc. leadership, clearly unable to decide whether to fight or flee Obamnesty, speaks to the sheer fear inspired by this invisible and uncelebrated force, which stood between America and annihilation via Amnesty/ Immigration Surge throughout the 113^th Congress in opposition to the entire political elite, and still so stands today.
Calling Congress works!
But nevertheless:

2. Obama will not let the GOP “get this behind” it. Obamnesty is just the beginning.

There is quite obviously something peculiar about Obama. For example, no normal politician would court suspicion by not attending church, least of all if he actually had a Muslim background. (Byron York has an excellent analysis in Why are Americans confused about Obama’s religion?, Washington Examiner, February 22, 2015). But Obama obstinately continues to do so.
Perhaps the key to Obama’s personality is the concept of Narcissistic Expectations Syndrome—everything has always been given to him on a silver plate, and he expects that to continue. When balked, he reacts with lethal rage. Thus, after the disaster of the 2014 midterms, Obama reacted with his insanely aggressive and plainly unconstitutional Executive Amnesty. Ironically, given the amoeba-like personalities of most professional politicians, Democratic and Republican, this means that to them he has created a fact.
The problem, however, is that Obama will not stop creating facts through executive order. Already, he has moved unilaterally to drop sanctions against Communist Cuba and to attack gun rights. His drive to Elect A New People will certainly continue—and, who knows, he may do something that actually upsets the GOP’s donors, like tightening pollution controls on industry.
What we have here is a constitutional crisis. The GOP leadership should get used to it.

3. Who cares about the Department of Homeland Security? And how many 9/11s is blocking Amnesty worth?

John Derbyshire recently commented:

Would it make any difference to the security of our homeland if the DHS were defunded? In matters of immigration and border control, the executive branch won’t let them do their work anyway.

If the political class were really concerned about terrorism, it would not be importing Muslim “refugees” and other immigrants from the Middle East at the current pace.
But there’s a larger question beyond this. Nearly 3000 Americans died on 9/11. But nearly 4,500 died in the subsequent Iraq War and there were 407,000 American military deaths in World War II—in both cases incurred by deliberate public policy. How many losses, how much of a risk, is constitutional government, and protecting the historic American nation from demographic displacement, worth?

4. MSM air supremacy is a problem—but sometimes instructive

Like the Wehrmacht or the North Vietnamese Army, Republicans have to operate in an environment where their adversaries have complete air supremacy, through their control of the Main Stream Media. Thus although the GOP has voted to fund the normal operations of DHS, and it would be the Obama Administration that chose to shut the DHS down because its unconstitutional Executive Amnesty was not also funded, GOP operatives are obviously terrified that they will be blamed anyway, because of MSM spin.
But the Left’s total control of the media often backfires because of the resulting overconfidence. For example, the fanatical immigration enthusiast editors of Bloomberg News just gloated:

Now that they’re back in Washington after a weeklong break, Senate Republicans should make their first order of business something they’ve been wanting to do for a long time anyway: saying goodbye to their least favorite member of President Barack Obama’s cabinet, Attorney General Eric Holder.
The problem is that giving Holder a proper send-off requires confirming his replacement, Loretta Lynch. And approving Lynch means acknowledging that they cannot block Obama’s executive actions on immigration….
In other words: The fight over Obama’s immigration order is over. Republicans have lost. Holding Lynch hostage — or even defeating her nomination, as Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are urging — will not change this central fact.

Actually, of course defeating Lynch, will change “this central fact,” by demonstrating that the GOP can and will cripple the Administration until it backs down on Executive Amnesty. As the triumphalist Bloomberg bullies inadvertently made clear, the GOP has nothing to lose.

5. Ben Carson is right—it’s treason. The answer is impeachment.

VDARE.com has a fairly skeptical attitude to the various Great Black Hopes that GOP operatives periodically trot out, exploiting the base’s genuine good will and its sincere eagerness to be fair. But Dr. Ben Carson was entirely right when he said, anticipating McConnell’s maneuver:

I would say break the funding for Homeland Security up into parcels. Don’t present it as a whole bill. That makes it much more difficult for him to stand in the way. And, if he does stand in the way, particularly with things that are vital to the security of this country, then I think we can start talking about treason.

As VDARE.com has been arguing since Obama began moving toward Executive Amnesty, in the end, if the GOP really wants to defend America, the ultimate answer is impeachment.
Paradoxically, it would be easier than the current mess.
