A very interesting post from www.debbieschlussel.com about YouTube being fined by Brazil. This follows this post about the Department of Homeland Security in the U.S. This follows this article about American energy independence and preventing money from going to hostile countries such as Iran . Brazil Fines YouTube for Not Censoring Mohammed Video; FOX News Lies About it
By Debbie Schlussel
Brazil said it will fine YouTube owner Google daily, until and unless it removes the anti-Mohammed video trailer for “Innocence of Muslims.” In a completely separate story, Brazil detained the Brazilian chief of Google, after a judge said that videos it hosted violated local Brazilian local election laws. But the Brazilian fines over the anti-Mohammed video were apparently not sensationalistic enough for FOX News, so it lied and posted a headline that screams, , “Brazil Detains Google Chief over anti-Islam YouTube Clip,” which is a complete falsehood. In fact, the Google exec, Fabio Jose Silva Coelho, has since been released from Brazilian custody, and the anti-Mohammed trailer remains up in Brazil (though YouTube was blacked out for 24 hours). The fine and the detention were two separate actions, and FOX News knows better, but just like the liberal mainstream media, the “conservative” mainstream media lie whenever they feel like it.
This is why you can trust FOX News–which also called Egypt, “America’s closest ally in the Middle East,” and called Israel’s capital, “Occupied East Jerusalem,” among other FOX News lies against Israel–as much as you can trust, MSNBC, CNN, and Al-Jazeera. The fine of $5,000 per day because of the anti-Mohammed video is enough of an outrage. But FOX News lied to make it a bigger story. Fair and balanced? Not even close. They distort, you decide. Sadly, as with the viewers of MSNBC, CNN, and Al-Jazeera, the FOX News viewers can be characterized as, “FOX News claims, you blindly ingest, no questions asked.”
More:
Google Inc.’s head of operations in Brazil was detained by the country’s federal police Wednesday after the company failed to heed a judge’s order to take down YouTube videos that the court ruled violate Brazilian electoral law.
The detention came as another court ordered YouTube to remove clips of an anti-Islam film that has been blamed for deadly protests by Muslims around the globe, both joining a spate of court-ordered content-removal cases against Google’s video-sharing website in Brazil.
The arrest of Google executive Fabio Jose Silva Coelho was announced in Sao Paulo. . . . Brazil’s strict electoral laws limit what critics can say on television, radio and the Internet about candidates for office. Ahead of municipal elections next month, Google has received repeated requests to remove Web videos that allegedly violate those restrictions.
A judge in Mato Grosso do Sul state ordered Coelho’s arrest Tuesday because the company had not removed YouTube videos that make incendiary comments about an alleged paternity suit aimed at Alcides Bernal, who is running for mayor of the city of Campo Grande. That ruling also included a statewide, 24-hour suspension of Google and YouTube. . . .
A judge in the southern state of Parana earlier ordered Google to pay $500,000 for each day that it balked at fulfilling an order to remove other videos criticizing a candidate. In the northeastern state of Paraiba, a judge ordered the imprisonment of another Google executive in Brazil, also for not removing videos from YouTube attacking a mayoral candidate, but that order was overruled by a higher court. . . .
In a separate case pending against Google, Sao Paulo-based judge Gilson Delgado Miranda gave the site 10 days to remove video clips from “Innocence of Muslims,” which has angered many Muslims around the world by its depiction of the Prophet Mohammed and his followers as thugs. After the 10-day window, Google will face fines of $5,000 a day for every day the clips remain accessible in Brazil, according to the statement on the court’s website.
Clearly, Google’s Brazilian chief was NOT detained over the Islam video. But the fact that Google will be fined unless it removes the video is outrageous enough (though not, apparently, for FOX News, which fabricated to make it even more outrageous).
And keep in mind that YouTube and Google are no paragons of free speech, as the subsidiary and its parent have already censored the video from view in many Islamic countries, per government “requests” or demands. When Muslims reach critical mass here, they will ban such videos in the West or just altogether from all of YouTube. These are not brave people. Just capitalist-without-principle whores.
By the way, the Brazilian flag reads “Ordem e Progresso,” which means “Order and Progress. Looks like they’re more interested in order than progress there. A more accurate flag would read, “Order and Regress.” For all the plastic surgery, free love, and topless beaches there, they’ve regressed back to the age of the Nazis and earlier.
