Resettlement Orgs Ask Obama for 100% Increase in FY17 Refugee/Related Admissions

An interesting article from www.numbersusa.com about jihad and refugees. This follows this post about the displacement of American workers. Remember, “Amnesty” means ANY non-enforcement of existing immigration laws! This follows this comment and this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! Also, you can read two very interesting books HERE.

Resettlement Orgs Ask Obama for 100% Increase in FY17 Refugee/Related Admissions

 https://www.numbersusa.com/sendfax

A group of 41 “non-governmental organizations” that assist refugees worldwide, including four directly involved in U.S. refugee resettlement, urged President Obama to commit to accepting 200,000 refugee and humanitarian admissions in fiscal year (FY) 2017 – a 100 percent increase over the projected FY17 level he established last year. While the president has the authority to establish the yearly refugee target, Congress must decide whether to provide funds to resettle that or an alternative number.
On September 19th the UN General Assembly will host a summit to address the record-level worldwide movement of refugees and migrants, with the aim of developing a coordinated approach. Then on September 20th President Obama will host a Leaders’ Summit on Refugees at which governments will announce new commitments on refugee aid and resettlement. The 41 organizations wrote Obama to influence his policies going into these meetings.
The organizations urge Obama to:
o Offer more humanitarian funding at the U.N. summit;
o Accept 200,000 refugee and humanitarian admissions in FY17, including at least 140,000 through traditional refugee resettlement and 60,000 through expansions of family-based, employment, and student visas; and
o Bolster refugee self-reliance through access to jobs.
Four of the nine non-governmental agencies that settle refugees in states signed the letter – Church World Service, HIAS, International Rescue Committee and U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. The 1980 Refugees Act, which authorizes the president to make a “determination” of refugee resettlement levels for the upcoming year, also established a massive federal program that pays private organizations to resettle each refugee. This eventually created a resettlement industry with large bureaucracies dependent on annual appropriations. Self-interest induces these organizations to push for ever higher refugee numbers, irrespective of whether that is in the public’s best interest.
President Obama set the refugee target at 85,000 for FY16, including 10,000 Syrian refugees, and projected a level of 100,000 for FY17. Media reports suggest Obama plans to dramatically increase his FY17 determination, but the number won’t likely be made public before the September 20 meeting.
Congress’ discussion of Obama’s FY16 target and, in particular, the disposition of Syrian and Iraqi refugees was sidelined as Members rushed to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government running on October 1, 2015, the beginning of FY16. The CR maintained FY15 assistance spending levels through mid-December.
In early November 2015 leaders reached a deal on emergency funding for Syrian and Iraqi refugees but started over when ISIS-led attacks on November 13th killed 130 people in Paris and injured hundreds of others. Some Republicans advocated freezing refugee intake from terrorist-producing countries but the omnibus spending bill Congress passed in December excluded the freeze and ended up provided $605 million more than the President’s request for Migration and Refugee Assistance
When Congress returns from summer recess next week, Members will again rush to keep the government running before FY17 begins. And since the likely vehicle is another CR, congressional debate over the president’s FY17 refugee numbers will have to wait until Member take up a longer term spending bill after the election.

John Kerry Should be Forced to Resign

An interesting article from http://prayfor.us about Secretary John Kerry that you can write a letter or send a fax about. This follows this post about the Texas Primary Runoffs. This follows this post about the Kansas City shooting.  You can follow me at blogspot here and at twitter here https://twitter.com/brianleesblog. Please consider following both in case one goes down!

John Kerry Should be Forced to Resign
Pray for US Banner Image

Perhaps you remember back in 1971 when John Kerry appeared before a Senate committee and testified that our youth were not going to fight America's wars any longer and broadly claimed that soldiers in Viet Nam at that time were guilty of cruel, murderous rampages against unarmed civilians.  His recitation of these crimes included killing children and rapine.
I remember.  I remember well.  I had gotten back from investing two years in the Viet Nam effort including being involved in combat operations for a year and the falsehoods spread by Kerry were disgusting to me.
Over the period of some 45 subsequent years, in both my veteran activities and historical research, I found Kerry to be a bald-faced liar.  I am fervent on this issue and I hope you will read closely what is in this email.
Image of Sec. of State John KerryJust like Kerry falsely portrayed his fellow-soldiers in his 1971 testimony, he is now falsely portraying America's only ally in the Middle East.
In a closed-door meeting with the Trilateral Commission last Friday, Kerry stated that if the Israelis do not cave and accept Obama's demands to capitulate to the Palestinian Muslims, Israel will become an "apartheid state."
No high-ranking American official has ever made such a blatantly false and anti-Semitic statement!
Kerry knows full well that the only examples of apartheid in the world today are in Muslim countries.
But Kerry is following Obama's orders to try to bully Israel into living under the Islamic form of apartheid, better known as Sharia law.
Kerry knows that his apartheid comment is a lie!
Kerry's half-hearted apology is unacceptable and must be ignored.
John Kerry has no business representing American foreign policy and you MUST tell Congress to call for Kerry's resignation!
This is yet another example of the sort of class hatred coming from Mr. Obama's White House, which is dividing Americans into camps fighting each other.
Unless we join together to renounce John Kerry's repugnant statements, Mr. Obama will keep driving a wedge between all Americans until he pushes us into permanent class warfare.

Send your FaxGrams to the House Foreign Affairs Committee today and urge them to publicly condemn John Kerry's 'apartheid' remarks and call for Kerry's resignation!
Many Members of Congress, both in the House and the Senate, are publicly condemning Kerry's hateful vitriol.
Kerry has been an embarrassment for America's foreign policy since his very first day as Secretary of State -- just as Pray For US predicted!
Let me prove that Israel is about as far from an "apartheid state" as a nation can get.
WHICH ONE IS THE REAL APARTHEID STATE?
Citizens of IsraelCitizens Of Palestine
Voting rights for Arab citizens in Israel.Islam imposes a tax that all Jews and Christians must pay or be prosecuted.
Arab citizens can form political parties in Israel.Only Muslims can form political parties; Christians and Jews have no rights.
Arab citizens can hold political office, up to and including positions on Israel's Supreme Court. All government affairs are run by Islamic rules; non-Islamic individuals are treated virtually as slaves.
Female citizens, whether they are Arab, Christian or Jew, are treated as human beings with full, equal rights in Israel. All women are treated as property and are restricted in education and licensing; honor killings of wives and daughters are allowed for perceived slights.
Thus, Kerry's anti-Semitic "apartheid" comments were calculated and intentionally designed to hurt Israel and America.
Kerry has proven that he has no business representing America on the world stage. We must pressure Congress to condemn John Kerry and demand his immediate resignation!
Proverbs 15:18 says, "A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger allays contention." John Kerry's 'apartheid' remarks were very deliberately designed to stir up strife between Israel and the Palestinians.
Kerry's stupid remarks were intentionally made to hurt America's only ally in a land of darkness and oppression.
You must urge Congress to step forward and call for John Kerry's resignation. Just click here to send your FaxGrams today.
Send Faxes Now Image
Don't forget, John Kerry was the one who falsely stated that the Syrian government had launched a chemical attack against Al Qaeda last August, in an attempt to get American troops into another ground war on false pretenses.
John Kerry is no friend to the troops, no friend to America and no friend to Israel.
Click here to send your FaxGrams and call for Kerry's resignation today.
If you know anyone else who is disgusted by John Kerry's 'apartheid' comments about Israel, please tell them about this campaign by sending them this link:
You can also help by contacting your Representative in Congress at 202-224-3121. Tell your Representative to publicly condemn John Kerry's 'apartheid' remarks and call for Kerry's immediate resignation!

Rachel Washburn, Hero? Ex-Eagles Cheerleader Soldier Honored @ NFL Game for Pandering to Muslims, Sharia

A very interesting post from www.debbieschlussel.com about a cheerleader turned soldier. This follows this post about OPEC, which supplies most of the world's oil. This follows this article about American energy independence and preventing money from going to hostile countries. For more about what you can do to get more involved click here and you can read two very interesting books HERE.

Rachel Washburn, Hero? Ex-Eagles Cheerleader Soldier Honored @ NFL Game for Pandering to Muslims, Sharia

By Debbie Schlussel
She is beautiful, has a great body (which she displayed as a Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader), served America in Afghanistan, and was awarded with a Bronze Star and other military awards and decorations. But is Rachel Washburn really a “hero,” as was claimed in yesterday’s NFL Philadelphia Eagles-Chicago Bears game, where she was honored?

Hero? Rachel Washburn’s Military Job Was Islamo-Pandering, Sharia Compliance

Only if you believe political correctness and pandering to Muslims is heroic and worthy of affirmative action military medals.
Rachel Washburn was in Afghanistan as a part of a “Cultural Support Team” program–translation: we suck up to Muslims–created to “attach women to special-ops units in order to relate to Afghan women.” Her “heroic accomplishments” included wearing a headscarf and covering up for Afghan men and women. Oh, and helping to deliver an Afghan baby a/k/a future America-hater and terrorist with instructions over a U.S. Army radio because the Afghans wouldn’t let a male American medic anywhere near the pregnant Muslim woman.
And Washburn is proud of her dhimmi activities and pandering to sharia (Islamic law). “I was always seen as somebody they could relate to and not this American imposter who brings my values to that country.” Um, if we aren’t there to bring American values to that country, why on earth are we there? I thought we were there to get rid of the Taliban. That’s an American value, since the Afghans don’t seem to mind them too much. I thought we were there to install democracy and free elections. Again, that’s an American value, since we see in every Muslim country around the world that they can’t handle democracy and always elect extremists, terrorists, and/or crooks. See Hamid Karzai and family for an example of the latter (and he’s apparently an enabler of the first two categories).

I’m not sure why a chick who has gone from sex object cheerleader to hijab-encrusted American life coach for Islamic women and their values is a “hero” at all. A hero is someone who makes extraordinary sacrifices, giving of him/herself and risking his/her life and limbs for others. It’s not a chick who proudly puts a do-rag on her head to deliver a Muslim baby.
And not only is Washburn proud that she donned Islamic bedsheets to hang out with Muslim chicks, but she’s happy that she made the Muslims happy by delivering a boy. Yay, feminism!
Her husband gave us a little trinket. He was so grateful to have a boy.
If only the woman had given birth to twin or triplet girls. The outraged reaction of her Muslim hubby might have actually awakened this dimwitted former cheerleader to reality. But no dice. Just like Us Magazine tells us, “Celebrities–they’re just like us!” Washburn tells us Muslims are just like us.
Washburn, who wore a head scarf when among the Afghans [said], “We kind of noticed that women everywhere share certain similarities. They obviously care about their home, their children. Women everywhere love pretty things. So if we wore a pretty head scarf, it would be like an icebreaker.”
Huh? Guess what? Osama Bin Laden and the 19 hijackers pooped and pissed just like us. I guess that means we are all the same. Right?
Yup, America, you paid for this idiotette to discuss scarf fashion with Afghan women and not to notice that these same women who like beautiful scarves also have no prob sending their kids to be terrorists and hating Jews and Christians. Wake up, dumabass-ette.
So, while the NFL might tell you Rachel Washburn is a military hero, remember the hardware on her chest was “earned” through anything but heroism.
If it’s heroic to pander to those who hate us and would destroy us–and have taken many American lives and limbs, then I guess we did the wrong thing in World War II.
Instead of kicking Nazi butt, we should have had a group of women like Rachel Washburn go to Germany and discuss favorite wienerschnitzel recipes with the wives of SS officers.
After all, if–as Rachel Washburn insists–we are not there to bring American values to that country, we should have had no problem with Hitler, concentration camps, and lampshades made of Jews.
Hers aren’t the views of a hero. They are the views of a coward.

Editorial: Veterans Day and the Fall of the Berlin Wall

BLOGGERS NOTE: I WILL BE MOVING FROM FACEBOOK TO TWITTER AND BLOGSPOT SOON!

Editorial   A website called www.yaf.org has been on the forefront of calling attention to memorializing the fact that Ronald Reagan's actions led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and then the Communist Soviet Union. It would be great to go to that website and view the actions one can participate in to commemorate this event.
In addition Veterans Day has arrived. Unfortunately, too many of our veterans are now being harrassed by  GLBT and feminist activists who are damaging the morale of our military. I would recommend that you send one or both of the letters below to your U.S. Representative www.house.gov and 2 Senators www.Senate.gov to let them know that this state of affairs needs to be changed!

      Honorable Representative/Senator,

Please allow members of the Armed Forces to serve without harassment from the GLBT groups both within and without of the military. Continued democratic exercise on the subject of marriage has validated, confirmed, made obvious and undeniable the position of the people of the United States that marriage is between one man and one woman. The refusal of GLBT groups to accept this proposition and this overwhelming mountain of evidence confirms the essentially undemocratic nature of these groups. They do not believe in the equality of voters and the institutions of representative government. On this subject, courts are imposing their will, not heeding the will of the majorities as they did in the previous cases of removing slavery and providing women the vote.

Do not allow members of the Armed Forces who maintain the majority opinion about the traditional definition of marriage to have their view considered in need of “sensitivity training,” or any similar program, but rather those who have this opinion are to be given their first amendment rights of freedom of conscience.

Expecting your support,

Honorable Representative/Senator,

Please allow members of the Armed Forces to serve without harassment from feminist groups both within and without of the military. Unlike in the Middle East, where women are dehumanized by being forced to wear burqas, the members of the U.S. Armed Forces show respect to women and do not deserve to be treated as anything but respectful of females. Members of the Armed Forces have proven to be respectful of the advances of leaders such as Susan B. Anthony, Margaret Thatcher, Jean Kirkpatrick, Clare Boothe Luce, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Kate Obenshain, and Debbie Schlussel.
Do not allow members of the Armed Forces who are showing respect to women to be labeled as having a “gender bias” when they are respectfully performing their duties as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Looking for your support,

Rihanna Has an Odd Obsession w Extremist Muslim Garb, Kicked Out of Mosque (Named for Anti-US Jew-Hater) Anyway

A timely post about from www.debbieschlussel.com about Rhianna performing in a Muslim country. This follows this post about a Miley Cyrus Halloween costume. In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.

Rihanna Has an Odd Obsession w Extremist Muslim Garb, Kicked Out of Mosque (Named for Anti-US Jew-Hater) Anyway

By Debbie Schlussel

I’ve written before about pop star Rihanna’s strange obsession with Muslim garb of oppression. It’s especially odd since the woman is overly sexual and Black–two things that are looked down upon in Islam. (Blacks are referred to as “abed” or “abeed”–slave or slaves–in Arabic, the Muslim equivalent of the N-word.) When Rihanna a/k/a Robyn Fenty performed on Saturday Night Live last year, she had her female back-up dancers wear niqabs–the full-Ninja Muslim face veils. And she recently did a dumb photo shoot in full Islamic garb at a mosque in the United Arab Emirates. She was kicked out anyway, probably because she’s Black and Western. They claim the photos, below, are “racy.” Are you kidding me?
By the way, the photos were taken at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Since Sheikh Zayed, the late former Prez of the UAE, was, as I’ve previously noted on this site, a notorious America-hater, anti-Semite, and Holocaust-denier, she should consider being kicked out of the mosque bearing his name to be a great honor. Zayed and his self-funded Zayed Center financed speakers, speaking tours, and publications which engaged in Holocaust-denial, Jew-hatred, anti-Israel BS, and claimed the CIA, Israel, and the Mossad were behind 9/11. (And the Institute also funded Neil Bush, George W. Bush’s loser failed savings-and-loan honcho brother–paying him to speak and providing him with prostitutes, according to his own testimony in his divorce deposition.)
Rihanna brought a little more instability to the Middle East. The “Diamonds” singer was booted from the famed Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi over the weekend after posing for some photos that were racy by the standards of the holy site.

Though she covered up — by her standards — in a head-to-toe black form-fitting outfit, complete with a hijab headcovering, the 25-year-old pop star clearly didn’t get the memo on the spirit of Islamic law. In photos that were posted on her Instagram site, Rihanna could be seen posing in several provocative poses with lips pancaked in ruby red lipstick — a no-no for a society that stresses covering up women’s sexuality.

Baloney. Women all over the Abu Dhabi wear caked on (and ugly) make-up.

“She left without entering the mosque, after being asked to do so, due to the fact that she had taken some pictures that do not conform with the conditions and regulations put in place by the Centre’s management to regulate visits in a way that takes the status and sanctity of the mosque into consideration,” a representative for the mosque told local media outlets in a statement. . . . The mosque spokesperson added that “the singer” came for a private tour to the mosque at a gate that is not meant for visitors — without identifying herself or coordinating the visit in advance. . . .

Rihanna covered up for her concert in the United Arab Emirates’ capital Saturday night — a Bedouin inspired look she dubbed “Empress RiRi.”

Of course she covered up. Pandering to Muslims has no end to it. And it’s all phony. If they were really serious about all this phony modesty, the UAE frauds would have banned Rihanna for her attendance at and disgusting tweets gushing over a live sex show in the Philippines.
Funny how Rihanna doesn’t show this kind of respect and dhimmitude when she’s in the West and offends Christians with her disrobing routines on Christians’ land. Here’s a tip: bend over for Muslims and they’ll slap your ass.
By the way, how did she get into the UAE with an Israeli stamp on her passport? I give her credit for standing up to Muslims when it comes to Israel.
But she should end the Islamo-pandering routine in the Arab Gulf.;

The Coming King of the South

An interesting article from http://www.ucg.org/ about the "King of the South" and the "Arab Spring" where sharia requires that women wear Burqas. Make sure this comes up while you celebrate "Women's History Month"! This follows this post about divorce and cohabitation.   For a free magazine subscription or to get this book for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886-8632.

The Coming King of the South

Bible prophecy keenly describes impending Middle East turmoil that will provoke an ominous, end time global crisis.

This is the Danube River running through Budapest, Hungary. Along its banks in the year 1526 the armies of the Ottoman Empire advanced in an attack upon central Europe. Their goal was conquest of lands for Islam.

It was not the first, nor the last attempt by a Middle Eastern power to push into these lands. Bible prophecy tells us there will be another in the future. Can we see how this may be developing through the current events in Europe and the Middle East? I think we can.

Join us on Beyond Today in Budapest as we look at "The Coming King of the South."

I recently traveled to Europe for a combined personal and business purpose. In Lisbon I heard news that the Eiffel Tower had been closed for a bomb threat. Now that gave me a bit of concern, as we were headed for Paris for a few days before traveling home. We were on the last leg of a two-week trip to Europe and looking forward to spending a few days in France's capital city, seeing some of its world famous sights.

A few days earlier, French police responded to a bomb threat by closing the symbol of the city. On the same day, a public transportation hub was closed when an unattended package was sighted.

At the same time the United States government issued a warning for Americans traveling to Europe to be vigilant. Intelligent forces had determined that al Qaeda was planning attacks on European cities similar to those done against Mumbai, India in November 2008. Hotels frequented by Westerners were invaded, and it took three days to repel the attackers.

While this warning contained nothing specific, it nonetheless gave me and my party a bit of concern and raised our level of what you might call situational awareness, a bit higher. While traveling in Paris and the environs the next few days, I did observe security personnel in the tourist locations, and I did keep a sharper eye out for anything suspicious.

Now why am I telling you this? Because terrorism is a worldwide concern and Europe is especially vulnerable. Also, Bible prophecy shows us a coming clash between two powers called the king of the North and the king of the South. Today we would interpret this as a clash between a power from the Middle East and from Europe.

Let me explain this a little bit more.

In Daniel chapter 11, it contains the longest prophecy in the Bible. It covers time from the period of Alexander the Great and the Greek Empire through the Roman period, down to our present day and into the years immediately ahead of us.

The first 35 verses of Daniel 11 are an accurate, detailed account of what would befall the people of Judah caught up in a conflict between the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt to the south, the king of the South, and the Seleucids of Syria to the north called the king of the North. The area that is covered by the king of the South also covers Egypt and related countries in North Africa.

Verse 36 continues the story line. Since verse 40 clearly advances the story to the time of the end, it may be that verses 36 to 39 apply to the whole history of the kingdom of the North from the time of the Maccabees and the beginnings of the New Testament Church, continuing up to the time of the end just as verse 35 appears to extend from ancient times all the way to the time of the end.

And who was the king of the North during this period? In 65 B.C., Seleucid Syria was swallowed up by the Roman Empire. Thus that Empire then became the kingdom of the North. Verses 36 to 38 appear to describe the actions of the Roman emperors and their successors, leading all the way up to the final leader of the end time.

Why the time gap in Daniel's prophecy between the ancient world and the world of today--a period of at least 2,000 years with only sparse details of events in between? Well the answer is simple: For almost 2,000 years there was no Jewish nation in the Middle East. The restoration of the Jewish state in 1948 has made the kings of the North and the South relevant again to impacting the Jewish people in the Holy Land.

We can now understand more clearly why the struggle between the kings of the North and the South resumes again at the time of the end there in Daniel 11:40And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

See All....

The verse continues to describe how "the king of the South shall attack him"--speaking of the king of the North--"and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships"--all which are symbols of military action--"and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them and pass through."

Clearly, at the time of the end another round of great turmoil will engulf the Middle East, only this time it will be far worse than anything ever seen before.

And again, the fulfillment of this prophecy would not have been possible until after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the division of those Arab territories that were a part of that into the various nations of the Middle East today.

Who might these terms refer to in our time--the time of the end? It's doubtful that they could once again apply only to Syria and to Egypt, as they are now brother Arab and Islamic nations. Also, while relatively strong by regional standards, neither currently has the military might to fulfill this prophecy.

As already noted, Rome swallowed up Syria and became the kingdom of the North thereafter. But did not Rome fall in ancient times? Well it did, but the Roman system has continued through the centuries and is today being revived as part of one final appearance before the return of Jesus Christ.

Part of the key to understanding this passage is to realize that the center of the prophecy is the Holy Land and Jerusalem, the historic land given to the children of Israel. The kings referred to are the powerful leaders who will come from regions to the north and south and vie for control of that area, trampling all over Judah in the process.

A century ago, no one could have understood many of the prophecies relating to this part of the world because the Ottoman Empire ruled over the places now occupied by the chief adversaries in the Mideast conflict. This fact helps us understand God's words to Daniel at the time of his prophetic book, where He said: "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end" (Daniel 12:9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

See All...). It would have been impossible for Daniel, living in the sixth century B.C., to have understood the astounding changes that would lead up to today's complex Middle East situation.

Just as the modern states of Israel, Egypt, Iraq and Syria did not exist a century ago, so at this time the final kings of the North and South have not emerged as yet. But the Bible does help us understand what to expect.

Historically, armies of both the North and the South have pushed back and forth at one another. In 732 A.D., Islamic armies advanced in what is modern France and were stopped by the Christian armies led by Charles Martel, the grandfather of Charlemagne. This effectively stopped Arab expansion into northern Europe, but it did not stop there.

In the twelfth century, Christian armies moved out of Europe during the Crusades with the intent of liberating the Holy Land from the Muslim control. This chapter of history is filled with many stories of intrigue and drama. Europe was successful only for a short time before being repulsed by the Muslims.

Once again, in the early sixteenth century, the armies of the Ottoman Empire swept up through Hungary, sacking Budapest and moved on Vienna in Austria. In 1529, the armies of the Holy Roman Empire successfully defended Europe and prevented Muslim domination. Another Ottoman attack in the 17th century was defeated, again at Vienna. Since then no Arab army has made any further attack.

Now, this story of the king of the South and the king of the North fits into a far larger picture. The Middle East is the focal point of so much Bible prophecy. Beginning with Abraham and his family, you can trace the development of families and tribes that make up the modern nations of the Middle East. Understanding the origins of the people and the culture helps one to understand the nature of the conflicts that impact the modern world today.

Now let's fast forward to today. What conditions could create another push or attack from the region of the king of the South? Well let's look at two.

First consider that more than half the world's proven supply of oil comes from the Middle East countries. The flow of oil from these nations is the lifeblood of our global economy. Sever these supply lines and regions like Europe will grind to a halt. Europe imports more than 60 percent of its oil from the Middle East. They need energy to sustain economic development and the high standard of living to which people are accustomed here.

The fear of war in the Middle East or political or religious upheaval is a constant concern that these energy supplies can be disrupted. The countries of the European Union carefully cultivate relations with the Gulf oil states to insure access to oil.

Now let's look at the matter of immigration, another possibility.

Recent events have highlighted a second possible cause for an attack or disruption leading to a reaction by the king of the North.

Muslim immigration to Europe over the past 40 years has resulted in large segments of the population that have not assimilated into Western culture. This has created a backlash that is growing and could lead to larger problems and leads me back to my earlier point about terrorism in Europe and its possible implications.

You see, there are possible threats to France, and Europe and other nations here. Tensions in major European countries like Holland, France and Germany highlight the problem of large Muslim population that does not mix with Western culture.

The French government has recently placed a ban on clothing worn by Muslim females. The ban pertains to the burqa , a full-body covering that includes a mesh over the face, and the niqab , a full-face veil that leaves an opening only for the eyes. French courts have upheld the law, supported by the French public by a margin of four to one. Women will be fined if they break the law when it goes into effect. Many suspect that this law could provoke unrest, even an attack by Muslims or a terrorist group. France has about 3.5 million Muslims, or about six percent of their population.

Stratfor, an American based intelligence service, recently assessed the threat to Europe and the United States and concluded that further attacks are inevitable with the loss of innocent life. Their report stated, "The United States and Europe are going to be attacked by(the) jihadist terrorists from time to time, and innocent people are going to be killed, perhaps in the thousands again. There is a deeply embedded element within a small segment of the Islamic world that is prepared to conduct terror attacks, and this element will occasionally be successful."

The report concludes that, "...the United States and the West in general cannot focus all of its power on solving a problem that is beyond its power to solve. The long war against terrorism will not be the only war fought in the coming years. The threat of jihadism must be put in perspective and the effort aligned with what is effective. The world is a dangerous place, as they say, and jihadism is only one of the dangers." ("Terrorism, Vigilance and the Limits of War on Terror")

That's the end of the Stratfor quote.

This threat to Europe from radical Islam is not to be ignored. When, not if it happens, it will trigger a reaction from key nations that could set in motion what is sometimes called unintended consequences.

France is not the only nation with large Muslim populations that have not integrated into European culture.

Recently, German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave a speech addressing the problem of multiculturalism in Germany. Germany has had decades of immigration from Muslim countries. Contrary to expectations they did not blend into German culture. Some politicians are calling for policies that would force immigrants to assimilate into German culture.

Chancellor Merkel's comments were outspoken and highlighted what many feel. She said, "This is a country that brought guest workers to Germany in the 1960s…and for a while, we kidded ourselves into believing that they wouldn't stay and would leave. Naturally, the notion that we would become ‘multicultural,' that we would live next to one another and be happy about one another, failed." (Merkel Enters Immigration Fray, Wall Street Journal, October 18, 2010).

Quite a quote. You see the fear in Germany, as with other European countries, is the decline of the native birthrate and the rise of the immigrant birthrate. If the trend continues, in a few years immigrants, primarily Muslim immigrants, will outnumber native populations and dominate culture and politics. With 80 million population, Germany is Europe's largest nation, but it has a very low birth rate. Immigration and the growing Islamization of Germany is a serious issue of discussion.

The prophetic books of Daniel and Revelation tell of another global superpower to arise at the end of this age. We find further details of this end-time power in Revelation 17. Just as Daniel saw various beasts that represented the dominant powers to come, so the apostle John saw a vision of another beast that would dominate the world at the very time of the end.

The 10 horns referred to here, as an angel explained to John, represent 10 rulers who receive power for one hour--symbolic of a short time--with a single ruler who is also called "the beast" (Revelation 17:12-13 [12] And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

[13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

See All...). Notice the time setting of these events: "These will make war with the Lamb"--who is the returning Jesus Christ--"and the Lamb will overcome them…"(verse 14). This prophecy, then, is for the future, and leads right into the return of Jesus Christ to this earth.

But these are not the only significant end-time players. A religious leader, symbolized as having two horns like a lamb but who speaks like a dragon, (Revelation 13:11And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

See All...) will also play a very prominent role in this end-time union of nations. Jesus Christ is the true Lamb of God (John 1:29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

See All..., 36; Revelation 5:8-9 [8] And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

[9] And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

See All...; 19:7-9), so this religious leader apparently will claim to be Christian. But he is in reality of Satan, "the dragon who…deceives the whole world" (Revelation 12:9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

See All...).

The beast referred to in Revelation 17 is a continuation of the four beasts of Daniel 7, as we saw earlier. Daniel, while in captivity in Babylon, recorded a vision of four great beasts (verse 3), gentile empires that would dominate the Middle East and have a major impact on the people of God. The empires were in chronological order, the Babylonian Empire, the Medo-Persian Empire, the Greek Empire of Alexander the Great and the Roman Empire.

Attempts to revive the Roman Empire are to succeed dramatically at the time of the end. At that time a successor empire is prophesied to restore the European unity that Rome first achieved more than 2,000 years ago. This empire is to lead right into Christ's return and the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth (verses 9-14).

Since the fourth beast described in Daniel 7 exists at the time of Christ's return, and the same is true of the beast, John saw in Revelation 17, both then, both prophecies, speak of an end-time resurrection of the Roman Empire. This is the other key to understanding the prophecy: The kingdoms of the North and South concern successive powers. Rome took over Syria and Rome did indeed fall. But the Roman Empire has been revived in numerous forms over the centuries. And one final revival remains.

This final resurrection of the Roman Empire, like the original Empire, will be centered in Europe. It appears that it can be seen today in its embryonic form in the European Union. That's not to say that all current EU nations will be part of that final configuration, but those that choose to participate will combine to form a powerful military force that will involve itself in the Middle East.

This end-time king of the North spoken of in Daniel 11, then, appears to be the final ruler of the end-time, European-centered superpower, the same one called the beast in Revelation 17. It will retaliate when attacked by the king of the South and roll into the Middle East and center its attention on the land of Israel.

Notice what it says: "At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels."

Mentioned here are prominent nations like Egypt and Libya. Whatever the cause of this attack, the shut off of oil or an attack of terrorism, it will provoke a response that will seek to impose a solution on this troubled world region.

Egypt has been a sleeper nation since it negotiated a peace settlement with the State of Israel years ago. Other nations like Iraq and Iran have occupied center stage. Yet, this prophecy indicates Egypt will play some greater role that draws the attention of the king of the North.

Other regions mentioned in this prophecy correspond to the modern nations of Jordan and the State of Israel. When other prophecies are brought into this unfolding drama, we see the world will be aroused to action on an unprecedented scale. Daniel 12:1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

See All... describes a time of world trouble unlike any previous age.

Armies will mass and move on Jerusalem in a climactic battle long foretold in the book of Revelation. We can read about it in Revelation 16. But before doing that let me pause and ask: What does this all mean to you?

There is much more for you to explore and our free magazine, The Good News fills that need. Each issue covers topics on prophecy, Christian living and biblical teaching. If you like what you see on Beyond Today , you will want to read The Good News .

We have a free subscription waiting for you when you call our toll free number: 1-888-886-8632. That's 1-888-886-8632. Or you can go online at BeyondToday.tv to order as well. The call is free and so is the magazine. We'll never charge you a subscription. You can't beat the offer.

While online you can follow us on Facebook and on Twitter. Leave us a comment or a question. We'd love to hear from you!

Now, let's go back to why this is important to you. You may be interested in Bible prophecy, but you still have a life to live with all of its challenges and opportunities. How does all this relate to you personally? What should you take from this for your daily life?

This is the part of Bible prophecy you need to understand. World events are moving to the conclusion of the age. Spiritual deception will cause many to not understand what is happening.

God wants you to understand the times you live in and where we are in His plan of salvation and the purpose.

Let's notice what is said in Revelation 16:

"Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, (and) out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty."

"Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame."

Spiritual deception is one of the signs of the end of the age. At the highest level, leaders and their nations will be moved to a great conflict in Israel. Diplomats will be unable to prevent the rapidly escalating crisis. No doubt there will be noble goals and motives stated as the reasons for these actions. People will be deceived into thinking they are preserving the global order, not realizing they are pawns in a greater spiritual struggle--one that has gone on for centuries.

The words of Christ in verse 16 are critical. He says to "watch…keep your garments." In biblical language garments mean righteous character. It means living a godly life in a world that makes that very difficult. We are to maintain a high level of spiritual discernment and righteous living. This will be the key to avoiding the spiritual deception of the age and understanding what is occurring.

To watch means to understand the times. It means to understand how to live in a world cut off from the knowledge of God. Your challenge, like mine, is to listen to what Christ tells us and live with an expectant hope of His salvation.

Bible prophecy describes a world headed towards a time of great tribulation. This verse we just read from Revelation speaks of the biblical battle of the great day of God almighty. Armies mass in the place of Megiddo in Israel and from this reference we take the term, Armageddon--commonly understood to be an age-ending battle.

What is important for you to take from this scripture is Christ's teaching to us to watch and be moved to action in our lives. Avoiding the deception that engulfs the world--a subject for another Beyond Today program--but that is a very critical issue for all of us.

Watching means several things. Christ wants to watch, us to watch, as we learn the lessons from the past. As you study Bible prophecy, you learn from nations and leaders of the past and how they related to God and His people. You see that God has a hand in history. This is often called the unseen hand in history and it opens new dimensions of understanding. Great empires and nations have come and gone through the centuries and many played key roles in God's unfolding plan for humanity. Seeing history through the dimension of prophecy makes the whole subject come alive.

To watch also means to understand current events and why the world is changing as it is. We're seeing shifts among global powers. Europe continues on its path toward greater unification and a larger role in world affairs. China is becoming a major player with great ambition among the nations. Its size and its needs are impacting daily life around the world. The nations of the Middle East are critical to the future stability and the world order. Religious fervor, massive energy supplies and the potential of nuclear armed nations in the region are a potent mix for problems. At the same time we see a shifting of power from the United States to these other regions. This too was prophesied in the Bible.

To watch also means to keep focused on the hope of the coming Kingdom of God. The conflict prophesied in the Bible, ends with the return of Jesus Christ to save all life from destruction. The world will not end in a nuclear winter. There is coming a better world with a better ruler.

This is the only hope this world has. It is the hope that should guide our daily lives and impact every decision we make. Christ said to pray Thy Kingdom come. Today we are to live by the teachings of the coming Kingdom. When we focus on God and His coming rule, we can avoid the global spiritual deception foretold in the Bible.

This is why a correct understanding of these events is so critical to you. It's why on Beyond Today we speak of what Bible prophecy has to say about today's world. Along with other biblical subjects, we provide a mix of what is important for you live a successful Godly life. It's what God wants you to understand.

Before closing today, let me again offer you a free subscription to the one publication that continues this discussion we are having. The Middle East continues to produce events that impact our world. Energy from the region fuels the global economy. Religious fundamentalism creates tension in the region and in Europe. Bible prophecy shows us the Middle East will be the center of world attention in the years ahead.

While it is the region that has given rise to major world religions, it has also seen its share of conflict through the centuries. Bible prophecy shows one significant incident lies in the future. It will trigger the crisis at the close of the age.

Watch the Middle East. Watch Jerusalem. And watch for the coming of the Kingdom of God to bring a lasting peace to this world. This is your sure hope for the future.

Janet Jackson Converts to Islam to Marry Qatari Billionaire – Halal “Abda” Cha-Ching

A very interesting post from www.debbieschlussel.com about Janet Jackson's upcoming wedding. This follows this post about YouTube being fined by Brazil.  This follows this article about American energy independence and preventing money from going to hostile countries such as Iran . For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and read a very interesting book HERE.

Janet Jackson Converts to Islam to Marry Qatari Billionaire – Halal “Abda” Cha-Ching

By Debbie Schlussel

Maybe she should change her name to Hamida Jackson. Or Halal Gold Digger.

Janet Jackson has converted to Islam, just like her Farrakhan acolyte bro, Jermaine Jackson (father to Jermajesty), in order to marry her Qatari billionaire fiance, Wissam Al Mana. Now, she will know what it’s like to be treated like an “abda”–a slave–since that’s how they look at Black people in the Muslim world. Yes, even the Jacksons.

Janet Jackson w/ Muslim Future “Mr. Jackson If You’re Nasty” Wissam Al Mana

Most White Muslims refer to Blacks–yes, even Black Muslims–as “abeed.” Literally it means “slaves” in Arabic, but it’s derogatory and the Arabic version of the N-word. “Abed” is the singular version of the word, and “abda” is the female version of the word. There is tremendous racism against Black people in the Islamic world, which is why they continue to slaughter Blacks in Sudan. First, the Sudanese Arab Muslims raped, tortured, and slaughtered the Black Christians, and then–when there were almost no Christians left, they began to rape, torture, and slaughter the Black Muslims of Sudan and, when Muslims were being murdered, George Clooney and Angelina Jolie suddenly got concerned).

Hmmm . . . I wonder if the consistently hypocritical “Islamic modesty” will apply to Janet–er, “Sheikha Jackson if you’re nasty,” which the religion and people she’s marrying into certainly are. She’s already gotten a lot of practice wearing a hijab, as the photos above and below show (and don’t forget that her late brother Michael loved wearing the Muslim full ninja, the burqa). Also, will she be the only wife? Well, now that her music career has been over for several decades and her lawsuit to get Michael Jackson’s money away from his kids and into her pockets isn’t going anywhere, a chick’s gotta find a way to keep herself in style. And if ya can’t beat the jihad, join ‘em–that’s the ticket, right? File under, Hypocritical Gold-Digger Women We’d Like to See in a Burqa.

Janet Jackson and her fiancé Wissam Al Mana are reportedly planning to get married in Doha, Qatar in 2013.

The couple hope to tie the knot in Doha where the billionaire was born and are making arrangements for the ceremony to take place in 2013.

Janet and Wissam will be wedded in a Muslim ceremony. A renown [DS: sic] Turkish author, Adnan Oktar (aka Harun Yahya), is also making the claim that the 46-year-old Janet Jackson has converted to Islam — as did her brother, Michael Jackson — and is choosing to keep her new religion a secret from her fans.

According to an insider the wedding will be “one of the biggest, most memorable extravaganzas in recent history”.

The source added to National Enquirer magazine: “They have tentatively set a late 2013 wedding date. But they are still working out the details and the exact day.”

They will reportedly spend $3 million to fly in their 500 wedding guests from all over the world, while Wissam wants to give all attendees a $10,000 Rolex watch each as a thank you for attending.

The insider added: “Wissam is going to splash big when he marries Janet. It’s going to be the wedding of the century.”

Janet and Wissam allegedly got engaged last year after Wissam, a billionaire whose family has extensive reaches in the real estate and media spheres, proposed to her with a stunning 15 carat diamond ring. The couple met in December of 2009 after Janet gave a special performance in the Middle East and the rest, so it seems, is history. The couple was supposedly shooting for a 2011 wedding, but they ultimately tempered their excitement and chose to hold off for a couple of years so they could have time to plan the festivities.

Janet has been dating Wissam – who is almost a decade younger than her – since summer 2010.

Hey, I wonder how her song, “Twenty Foreplay,” goes over in Greater Savagestan. Praise allah. Islam just got the most used piece of equipment in the Jackson gym to “revert” to Islam.

Well, now, she can revise one of her hit songs to reflect her new religion, “The No Pleasure Principle.”

Michael Jackson, Burqa Style . . .

Weekend Box Office: Snow White and the Huntsman (& the Muslims), High School

Here is an interesting article from http://www.debbieschlussel.com/ reviewing some of the movies that came out over the past weekend. This follows this post some of the movies from last week and THIS POST about some movies that have been released over the past few years that you might have missed! This all follows this post about guidelines to chosing good movies to watch yourself!

Weekend Box Office: Snow White and the Huntsman (& the Muslims), High School

By Debbie Schlussel

My reviews of this weekend’s new movies:

* “Snow White and the Huntsman“:  Nope, it’s not about that Utah liberal pretending to be a Republican in the primaries. But it’s pretty liberal and has pan-Muslim sympathies, too. As in this year’s previous Snow White flick (“Mirror Mirror”–read my review), it’s a dark, feminist revisionist version of Snow White that ends up being a catfight between the evil witch queen (Charlize “I have orgasms for Cuba’s Castro” Theron) and Xena Snow White Warrior Princess (Kristen Stewart). None of this comes as a surprise, since the movie is by the same people who made the pan-feminist “Alice in Wonderland” (read my review), in which Alice is now a warrior princess kick-butt action figure.

And the men in the movie? Well, they are accessories like a purse or a bag. And one of them cries (while Snow White, far more masculine than he, never sheds a single tear). Snow White wears chain mail and a knight’s outfit, leading the legion of knights into battle. Puh-leeze. Yes, I know it’s a fairy tale, but since when was Snow White a she-man warrior? Uh, sorry, but reality check: men are the strong ones and the ones in physical fighting who win and best women, in almost all cases, despite the fantasies of the ghost of Betty Friedan and the aging human crypt of skin known as Gloria Steinem.

I also wanna know when Snow White became a vehicle for pro-Muslim propaganda. The only people who are kind to Snow White and a male ally are a group of people whose women wear niqabs (full-ninja Muslim face-veils) and whose men wear kufis (Muslim hats). And they become victims for helping her. Of course, my surprise at this stopped when I noted that one of three screenplay authors is named Hossein Amini.

Beyond that, the movie’s story is creepy, scary, thrilling, entertaining, and well-told. The costumes, visuals, and special effects are stunning. If you can look beyond the feminist and pan-Islamic baloney (and Theron’s disgusting pan-Communist BS on Castro and Cuba), you’ll enjoy it, as I did. And yes, there are the seven dwarves.

In this story, there is no “prince charming” to rescue Snow White. Instead, there is a “huntsman” (Chris Hemsworth), who is originally paid to hunt for her in the dark forest at the behest of the queen. But he, very predictably, falls for Snow White, instead, and there is a duke’s son, who is also a rival for her love. The movie is set up to be just like her Twilight movies with a love triangle of two men who are more the women, while she assumes the male role.

It’s violent and bloody, so it’s NOT for kids.

ONE-AND-A-HALF REAGANS PLUS TWO BETTY FRIEDANS PLUS A BIN LADEN

* “High School“: Hey, yet another piece of utter garbage that is so bad it never would have been made, but for the Michigan Film Tax Credits that subsidized it. It’s a liberal movie in which the kids are brilliant, the authority figures–the principals and teachers–are sleazebags and morons, and there are no parents to speak of (if there were, they’d be idiots, too, of course). The movie is filthy, vile, and just plain stupid. It’s a stoner comedy, but it’s just not funny. Makes “Dude, Where’s My Car?” look downright Shakespearean.

Adrien Brody sure fell a long way down the slippery slope from when he won an Oscar for his portrayal of a Jew in Holocaust Europe. Here he’s a Black-wannabe, crazy drug dealer with cornrows and tattoos.

His customers are two kids from the local high school. One of them is a complete burnout loser, and in the anti-Semitic tradition of crappy Hollywood movies lately (most of them made by self-hating Jews), the filmmakers want you to know that this bad person and cause of major disasters is a Jew. He has a giant Jewish Star tattoo on his back shown on screen at some length, in case you might miss his religion and ethnicity. (This was the case in “Project X” (read my review) and “Act of Valor” (read my review) and several others I’ve reviewed on this site.

The other kid is brilliant and on his way to becoming class valedictorian. But, at the behest of the stoner Jewish kid, he tries marijuana on the day before the principal (Michael Chiklis) decides to drug-test everyone in the school. If the smart kid tests positive, he’ll be kicked out of school and won’t be valedictorian. So he and the Jewish kid conspire to rob a drug dealer (Brody) and get the whole school high with pot brownies they bake and put at the school bake sale (replacing the legit brownies). Disaster ensues.

I wanted to walk out of this for the entire two hours I sat there, but if I did, I woudn’t be allowed to review it. You were warned. It’s an IQ test. If you waste your time and money to go see this, anyway, you failed. This is one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time, and I’ve seen a lot of stinkers. Doubles for both high-quality Gitmo torture material and Al-Qaeda recruitment propaganda about how bad America is.

Muslims say total ban on non-Muslims in Mecca violates human rights and religious freedom -- no, wait...

A very interesting post from www.jihadwatch.org about Mecca contrasted with the burqa ban in France. This follows this post analyizing the current state of the Middle East and this article about the recent news about the ban offshore drilling which would encourage American energy independence This is a key issue to prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran and Venezuela. For more posts like this click here.

Muslims say total ban on non-Muslims in Mecca violates human rights and religious freedom -- no, wait... click the link to see the entrance sign to Mecca

Actually, they are just fine with the ban on non-Muslims in Mecca. That's not any infringement on human rights. Human rights are only infringed when Muslims are asked to conform to the mores of the non-Muslim lands to which they have come. "Muslims say the total veil ban violates human rights and religious freedom," from Asia News, July 14 (thanks to C. Cantoni):
Beirut (AsiaNews) - The French law banning the veil covering the face (burqa and niqab) could give rise to a new wave of Islamophobia and state racism. This is the harsh condemnation of the President of the 'Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), Masood Shadjareh, to the initial approval by the French parliament of a law that requires women to have their faces uncovered in all public places.
Shadjareh's reaction, in an interview with official Iranian agency IRNA, is the harshest yet from the Muslim world that criticizes the violation of religious freedom and respect for Islamic culture, but above all which seems to be waiting for the Constitutional Court or European institutions to condemn these violations, although there are those who evoke the memory of Nazi persecution....
Of course. But never mind that the real neo-Nazis are all on the side of the jihad.

Islamic Culture in Europe: Main Street or Side Street?

An interesting article from www.wnponline.org about Islam in Europe. This follows this post about Egypt in prophecy. This follows this post about mortgaging our children's future. For more interesting stories like this click here to follow this blog.

Islamic Culture in Europe: Main Street or Side Street?
Controversies over minarets and burkas highlight larger questions about the clash of cultures and whether Europe's religious heritage should be defended.
by Paul Kieffer
When I drive from Bonn to Cologne here in Germany, I often travel on the west side of the Rhine River on the autobahn that links the two cities. About halfway between them, I always notice a minaret that is clearly visible from the road.
It is hard to miss, since it belongs to an Islamic mosque located just off the autobahn in a section of town that appears to be zoned for light commercial usage. The mosque's minarets stand in stark contrast to the other small commercial businesses in the vicinity and a nearby discotheque.
The location of this one mosque halfway between Bonn and Cologne reflects the situation of Islam in many parts of Western Europe. Islam, as a "minority" religion, is present but not prominent. And that situation has been largely acceptable to the native Western Europeans.
Cologne's controversial central mosque
However, things are changing. It comes as no surprise that the growing Muslim population in Germany (approximately 4 million Muslims, about 5 percent of Germany's population) desires more appropriate representation for its religion. The number of mosques has increased in recent years, and construction of a central mosque in Cologne for the Muslim community conveys the impression that Muslims want their religion visible on main street, not just on side streets.
The new central mosque in Cologne has Germans asking the question: "How big should Muslim mosques be?" Among those who have asked the question is Edmund Stoiber, who as governor of Bavaria wanted to ensure that Christian cathedrals would be higher—and therefore more visible—than mosques. His argument is that Christian Germans still make up a majority of the population, and the country's main culture is influenced most by Christianity.
The central mosque in Cologne was the subject of intense debate for several years. The Cologne city board of directors approved construction plans for the mosque in August 2008. Cologne's mayor, Fritz Schramma, a member of the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU), supports the project but many of his own party members have strong reservations. They see the proposed mosque as a show of force from the Muslim side.
When completed, the Cologne mosque will have a prayer room large enough to accommodate 1,200 worshippers. The slim minarets will be 55 meters (180 feet) high with the dome over the prayer room at a height of 35 meters (115 feet). The height of the minarets was a subject of considerable discussion, since some wondered whether they would "compete" with Cologne's famous Cathedral some 4.5 kilometers distant. However, the cathedral is 157 meters (515 feet) high and will continue to dominate the Cologne skyline.
Public reaction to the planned mosque has been mixed. The dome will look like a globe, using transparent glass to make it possible to see into the mosque. The prestigious German weekly Die Zeit interpreted this as a symbol of Islam's openness toward the world.
However, Islam critic Necla Kelek, whose personal roots are an orthodox Muslim family in Turkey, interprets the architecture differently. According to her, "The globe is a symbol of conquest, and people can see the dome and the minarets as a Muslim demand to get world domination" (http://tinyurl.com/neclakelek ).
Some consider the Cologne mosque to be more than a desire to move to main street. They view the building's size as evidence that Muslims really don't want to be integrated into German society. According to Necla Kelek, the mosque will sow "the seeds for a parallel society. We have already seen that particularly large mosques develop into their own cities, own Medinas" (ibid.)
Well-known atheist Ralph Giordano agrees. In comments made to German TV station WDR, Giordano said: "The [approval of the] building permit is an anti-integration decision. Just the mosque's size shows that Muslims are demanding power."
Although the Catholic and Lutheran churches officially support the building of mosques in Germany, the Cologne mosque has raised questions about reciprocal tolerance. Cologne's cardinal Joachim Meisner wants Muslims in Germany to start fighting for Christian rights in Muslim countries in return for the mosques they are allowed to build in Germany.
Augsburg's bishop Walter Mixa chided local authorities for issuing building permits for mosques as large as the one in Cologne. "In countries which are mainly pervaded by Muslim culture, Christians really have no rights. Therefore we should not allow mosques with pompous minarets in Germany. In a Christian society it is sufficient if the Muslims have a place where they can hold prayers," bishop Mixa said.
A minaret-free Switzerland
Germany isn't the only country in Europe where Islamic mosques are a source of intense discussion. In a national referendum at the end of November, Swiss voters approved an addition to their constitution that will prohibit the construction of mosques with minarets in Switzerland.
After a two-year campaign to gather the required 100,000 signatures, the referendum was placed on the ballot by the conservative Schweizerische Volkspartei (SVP). Analysts were surprised not only by the clear result, with 57 percent in favor of the measure, but also by voter turnout, which was 10 percent higher than average for national referendums in Switzerland.
Swiss analysts were surprised by the outcome of the referendum. Opinion polls prior to the ballot had indicated that the initiative would be defeated easily. All established political parties had encouraged voters to reject the proposal.
The Swiss government did the same, asking Swiss citizens to consider the possible negative effect that approving the petition would have on Switzerland's relations with Muslim countries. Swiss Minister of Justice Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, who resigned from the SVP in the summer of 2008, appealed to voters to remember human rights and religious freedom.
Representatives of several parties described the outcome of the referendum as a "political expression" of disapproval toward an Islam viewed by many Swiss as being militant. That was exactly the point made by the SVP, as represented by Ulrich Schlüer, one of the organizers of the signature drive. He called minarets an Islamic "political symbol of a claim to power," a similar description as the one applied to the new Cologne mosque in Germany.
The referendum reflects deep-rooted fear over the potential future influence of Islam in a country that currently has only four mosques with minarets, although about 5 percent of the Swiss population is Islamic in its religious orientation.
As was to be expected, the reaction of the Islamic community in Germany to the Swiss referendum was negative. The focal point of criticism was the perception that limitations are being placed on religious freedom.
However, the central committee for former Muslims in Germany took a different view. "The 'no' to minarets is really a signal against Islamism, Islamic sharia law and the mandatory head covering for women. The minaret is just a symbol for justified apprehension concerning political Islam," according to central committee chairman Mina Ahadi. He praised Swiss citizens intervening and making their opposition known decisively.
A burka-free France?
Just two weeks after the referendum in Switzerland, delegates of France's governing Union Pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP) party voiced support for banning the traditional full-body burka worn in public by women from some Muslim areas of the world. This burka leaves only a small slit in front of the eyes for vision but otherwise totally covers the body.
"The reality is that no one in France wants this custom to spread in our country," UMP party leader Jean-François Copé told the daily Le Figaro. According to Copé, not only French citizens but representatives of the Islamic community view the burka as incompatible with the values of the French republic.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy did not comment on Copé's remarks, but it was Sarkozy himself who called for a ban on the burka last June in an address to the French parliament—the first time in 150 years that a French president addressed the country's legislature.
"It [the burka] will not be welcome on French soil," Sarkozy told the parliamentarians. "We cannot accept, in our country, women imprisoned behind a mesh, cut off from society, deprived of all identity. That is not the French republic's idea of women's dignity."
Following Sarkozy's address in June, a multiparty parliamentary commission was established to make a recommendation on the issue. In January the commission "recommended adopting a ban on wearing the full veil in 'public places' including hospitals, schools and on mass transit. Under the proposal, women appearing in government offices wearing a burqa could be denied visa and immigration services," Deutsche Welle reported Jan. 26.
Should Europe's religious heritage be defended?
Public discussion, debate and referendums on the size of Muslim mosques, minarets and burkas were not an issue years ago when guest workers were needed for a booming postwar economy and the number of Muslims in Western Europe was relatively small. Today, however, population growth in Western Europe's Muslim community is much higher than the traditional ethnic population. If negotiations on membership are completed successfully, Turkey's potential entry into the European Union would see the Muslim portion of total EU population jump from about 5 percent today to over 20 percent.
Whether justified or not, the minaret referendum in Switzerland reflects a growing perception in much of Western Europe that Islamic influence will compete with Europe's traditional religious heritage, which is Christian.
Without ever referring to Islam, it comes as no surprise that Pope Benedict XVI has reminded Europeans repeatedly that they should not forget their religious heritage.
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is taking the pope's admonitions seriously following a verdict rendered at the beginning of November in Strasbourg by a European Court of Human Rights. The court banned the display of crucifixes in Italian classrooms, justifying its decision on the potential that crucifixes on walls in Italian schools might cause distress for children who were not Christian.
The court ruling overturned two Italian laws, dating back to the 1920s when Fascists were in power in Italy, that required schools to display crucifixes in classrooms.
Prime Minister Berlusconi described the Strasbourg ruling as a silly attempt to deny Europe's Christian roots, adding that "this is not acceptable for us Italians." The conservative politician enjoys considerable support from the country's Roman Catholic majority.
Referring to the many churches in his country, Berlusconi declared that "you only have to walk 200 meters forwards, backwards, to the right or to the left and you find a symbol of Christianity. This is one of those decisions that often make us doubt Europe's good sense." He declared that his government plans to appeal the ruling.
In a rare moment of unity among Italian politicians, the court ruling was criticized in Italy across ideological boundaries. Only some groups on the far left and atheists voiced support for the Strasbourg decision. The Vatican's response was one of "shock and sadness," causing Vatican official Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone to remark that "Europe in the third millennium is leaving us only Halloween pumpkins while depriving us of our most beloved symbols."
The court decision came only two weeks after Pope Benedict's latest admonition for Europeans not to forget their continent's Christian roots.
Like her neighbors to the north and west, Italy is involved in a debate on how to deal with a growing population of non-Christian immigrants, mostly Muslims. The Strasbourg court ruling could become another battle cry for the government's policy drive to crack down on new arrivals.
Mara Bizzotto, a European parliamentarian for Berlusconi's anti-immigrant coalition partner, the Northern League, asked why the European court had taken action against a Christian symbol but did not comment on Muslim reglious symbols such as "veils, burkas and niqabs [facial veils]."
The lawsuit against the crucifixes was brought by an Italian citizen who complained that her children had to attend a public school in northern Italy that had crucifixes in every room, thereby denying her the right to give them a secular education.
In 2003 a Muslim parent, Adel Smith, the head of the small Union of Italian Muslims, succeeded in getting a court order to have crosses removed from the school his children attended. But the order was later reversed after a nationwide protest.
Traditional religion to ride high again in Europe
Bible prophecy indicates that the growing concern over Islamic reach in Europe will be superseded in the future by a resurgence of traditional religious influence, greatly magnified in the period preceding the return of Jesus Christ. The apostle John predicted this coming influence in symbolic language in the book of Revelation. He describes the rise of two beasts, one of which represents a counterfeit religious system.
The first beast will be a geopolitical power, an end-time revival of the Roman Empire, described in Revelation 13:1 as "a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.". This first "beast" receives "his power, his throne, and great authority" from the dragon, who is Satan the devil (verse 2).
From the heritage of earlier empires, an end-time revival of the Roman Empire will arise, a powerful alliance of 10 "kings" or rulers that will exist shortly before Christ returns.
In the same chapter John describes another beast: "Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed" (Revelation 13:11-12, New International Version, emphasis added throughout).
Who is this second beast? He is a tool of Satan who uses his position and authority to influence humankind to worship the first beast, which is described not only in Revelation 13, but also elsewhere in Revelation and Daniel. This second beast tries to appear to represent Christ—a lamb—but in reality his words reflect satanic thought—the dragon.
How will he persuade the masses to accept such arrogance? He will be a skillful deceiver directly manipulated and empowered by Satan. "He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.
"He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed" (verse 15).
John later describes the powerful religious leader as "the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his [the Beast's] behalf" (Revelation 19:20, NIV).
The False Prophet is evidently the satanically led leader of a false religious system represented by the immoral woman riding the Beast in Revelation 17. It will be the same religious system that dominated Europe in earlier centuries. Its influence will have diminished more recently, prior to a final revival of the Roman Empire in Europe. The immoral woman rides the Beast, reflecting her influence over the direction that final revival will take.
The apostle Paul also foretold the coming of a powerful deceiver: "And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved" (2 Thessalonians 2:8-10).
Tragically, most people will be hoodwinked into believing him.
These future events will surprise a world unaware of what the Bible has to say about the time leading up to the prophesied return of Jesus Christ. However, you don't have to remain uninformed. WNP
