Yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld Arizona's right to determine the immigration status of individuals that police officers in that state come in contact with. Soon after the ruling, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that the administration was suspending all 287(g) agreements with Arizona. This means that neither the state, nor localities, will be able to enforce federal immigration law, making it even easier for illegal aliens to take U.S. jobs and break the law.
Secretary Napolitano's stated reason for ending cooperation with Arizona over immigration enforcement is that they expect a drastic surge in immigration status inquiries due to the Supreme Court ruling. However, it's clear that President Obama and his underlings are acting in this childish manner because they are unhappy with the Supreme Court ruling and are simply acting like spoiled children who didn't get their way.
Please send a fax to President Obama and express your disappointment, indignation, and fury over his administration's decision to weaken immigration enforcement when the Supreme Court made it clear that our nation needs even more enforcement.
