Editorial: Is it time for the U.S. to declare war on Mexico?

Editorial

You've know doubt known immigrants from Mexico who come to the U.S., expect welfare benefits, and demand that their language be accommodated
If you work in a workplace, or go to a school, with a significant amount of immigrants, or their descendants, from Mexico, you know that they will speak in Spanish among themselves in order to exclude you from their conversation.
Mexico continues to meddle in U.S. immigration policy, getting upset whenever immigration laws are enforced. Repeatedly, people from their nation will throw rocks, or shoot bullets, from their side of the border, yet get upset if the U.S. fights back.
Are these enough to be considered acts of war?

Editorial: Will YOU be fired for wanting your Co-workers to speak English?

Editorial

In one of my earlier posts one employee was fired from her job and another was suspended from school for wanting their co-workers and co-students to speak English. Of course these events happened in the border states of Texas and Arizona, respectively. And, yes, the main reason other language are spoken in the U.S. are to intimidate and bully English speakers!

Consider this yourself though. Are you doing all you can to slow immigration down to give immigrants time to assimilate. Personally, I think it should be stopped for a LOOONG TIME. However, a modest proposal would be that no nation can send immigrants to the U.S. until the existing immigrants from that nation prove to the rest of us that both the current and future immigrants from that nation will speak English in public!

However, are you campaigning for immigration restriction? Are you campaigning for English language usage? Have you contacted not only your two Senators and representative, but also your state and local representatives? Are you campaigning to replace the ones who will not enforce existing immigration laws which is THE definition of amnesty?

Finally, what are you doing to limit the executive branch's unconstitutional use of Executive Orders. It was not in a conspiratorial corner, but rather in the most public event of the State of the Union, where the U.S. president said he will use his "Executive Pen" to get around any political opponents.

Congratulations to those of you who are doing all you can. Try and convince others to do the same!

Texas Middle School Principal Fired for Telling Students to Speak English so they don't feel bullied when they are talked about in Spanish!

A timely post about from https://proenglish.org about a principal in Texas being fired for requesting all students speak English so that nobody feels bullied when others talk about them in Spanish or any other language. This follows this post about Russia and Ukraine.  In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.

Texas Middle School Principal Fired for Telling Students to Speak English
March 20, 2014

Yesterday, the news broke that a middle school principal in Hempstead, Texas had been fired.  Her transgression?  Announcing over the loudspeaker that students in the school should not speak Spanish while on campus.

Hempstead Middle School Principal Amy Lacey was placed on administrative leave back in December for her announcement.  At the time, ProEnglish covered the story in the “English in the News” section on our website.  Three months later, we learned that the school board will not renew her contract.

In a press release from last evening, ProEnglish Executive Director Robert Vandervoort called it “an outrage” that the school board “caved in to vocal multilingual pressure groups and fired a well-meaning principal.”  He also noted that Hempstead Middle School is a taxpayer-supported institution.  In addition, Vandervoort referenced the federal court of appeals case Silva v. Catholic Diocese of Wichita, which ruled that schools have a right to require that English be spoken by students.

ProEnglish is in the process of contacting Ms. Lacey, and we intend to assist her in any way possible.  Ms. Lacey’s predicament bears some resemblance to another case ProEnglish is currently involved with.  As many of you have heard, Arizona nursing student Terri Bennett was suspended from her college and viciously insulted by administrators for simply requesting that English be the language spoken in her classes.

We are continuing to provide significant support to Terri as her case makes its way through the legal process.  The cases of Ms. Bennett and Ms. Lacey show the importance of making English our official language.

ProEnglish relies on generous donations from our supporters to carry out all of our projects.  Please consider clicking the ‘Donate’ button below, and making a contribution of whatever you can spare at this time.  Thank you for your interest and support.

Sincerely,

The ProEnglish Staff

Editorial: Boredom as the State of The Union

Editorial

With the President's State of the Union receiving the lowest rating in years even though he talked about using his executive order pen to get around congress, and, unless you are a Seattle Seahawks fan, many thought this was the most boring super bowl ever even though there were some controversial ads such as Coca-Cola's, is the State of the Union now Boredom?

Fight back against Coca-Cola's multilingual agenda!

A timely post about from www.proenglish.org about a Coca Cola Super Bowl ad. This follows this post about the consequences of the State of the Union. In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.

Super Bowl XLVIII is over, but America is still reeling from one commercial that aired during the big game.

Did you see it?

Coke Ad

Coca-Cola’s ad entitled, “It’s Beautiful,” featured people of different ethnicities singing the patriotic song “America, the Beautiful” in a handful of selected foreign languages.  The languages included Arabic, Spanish, Hindi, and Tagalog.

Of course, private companies are free to market to consumers in any language they chose.  This, too, would be true under an official English law.  However, we believe that this Coca-Cola commercial directly undermined the spirit of national unity “America, the Beautiful” was intended to foster.  Instead, the divisive ad wrongly depicts Americans as separate linguistic groups and rejects the historical American ideal of one nation unified under a common language - English.

ProEnglish believes that American companies, like Coca-Cola, should demonstrate greater corporate responsibility and promote civic unity, not disunity, whether that means linguistic or any other kind.

We encourage you to stand up for English unity in America and let Coca-Cola know what you think!

Student Suspended who Asked for “English-in-the-Classroom”

A very interesting post from http://proenglish.org/ about a student trying to learn who asked for the common language, English, to be spoken in assignments. This follows this post about immigration amnesty in North Carolina. This follows this post about the  DC March for Jobs against more immigration. This follows this post about the release of illegal immigrant felons from prison by ICE. This follows this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! For more about what is happening in the nation now click here and you can read two very interesting books HERE.

ProEnglish Supports Suspended Student Who Asked for “English-in-the-Classroom”

Arlington, VA – ProEnglish is providing legal support for a student who was suspended merely for asking that students speak English in her classroom and during student projects. Terri Bennett, a nursing student at Pima Community College (PCC) in Tuscon, Arizona asked school administrators to make sure students speak English in the class so she could learn.

After making this simple request, school administrators called Ms. Bennett a “bigot,” and she received a nine-month suspension. Ms. Bennett reached out to ProEnglish for assistance in May as PCC took these actions against her.

ProEnglish contacted the Arizona law firm of Munger & Chadwick to represent Ms. Bennett. On July 8, 2013, the school was served with a complaint from Ms. Bennett through her attorneys, seeking administrative review.

On Monday, July 15, a complaint seeking monetary damages against the school was filed in state court. The state Attorney General Tom Horne was also formally notified about Ms. Bennett’s case as the school is in violation of Arizona’s official English amendment.

“What happened to Terri Bennett is an outrage,” said ProEnglish Executive Director Robert Vandervoort. “For simply seeking a classroom environment where she can learn in English, Terri was harshly treated by the PCC administration, viciously insulted, and punished with a nine-month suspension.”

“This school should be known as “Politically Correct College,” Vandervoort continued. “We look forward to bringing justice for Terri and making sure other students are allowed to learn in English.”
