Wknd Box Office: The Boy Next Door, Mortdecai, Two Days, One Night

Here is an interesting article from http://www.debbieschlussel.com/ reviewing some of the movies that came out over the past weekend. This follows this post about some of the movies from last week and THIS POST about some movies that have been released over the past few years that you might have missed! This all follows this post about guidelines to choosing good movies to watch yourself!

Another abysmal set of choices in new movies debuting at theaters today.

* “The Boy Next Door“: Absolutely awful. Yet another in a long line of horrible movies starring J-Lo a/k/a Jennifer Lopez. This movie reportedly had a $4 million budget, and it looks like it. Lopez plays a high school teacher who has sex with a 20-year-old high school student who just moved in next door (he is 20 and still in high school because he took time off after his parents both died). The 20-year-old begins stalking, threatening, and blackmailing her because she won’t have a relationship with him. And he begins inserting himself into her life. Not only is the story absurd and the lines cheesier than a double cheeseburger, but the movie seems to make excuses for all of the female teachers who’ve had sex with their high school students. The movie seems to say that these teachers are the victims, that they are stalked and preyed upon by crazy male students. Incredibly stupid and high quality Gitmo torture material.

* “Mortdecai“: This wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected, but it was still bad enough and kind of lame. Most of the humor wasn’t funny, but there were a few funny lines and moments. It stars the two self-hating Americans In Name Only (AINOs) and Europhiles Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow, both of them loathsome. In this movie, both get to be what they pretend to be in real life: pretentious, wealthy English people. The movie is in the style of the late ’60s and early ’70s Peter-Sellers-style madcap comedy, but doesn’t even come close. Most of the jokes are dopey and lame, along with the “plot.”
Depp is an English lord who is a scoundrel underworld art dealer, nearly broke and in debt to the tune of millions in taxes to the English government. An MI5 agent, known to Depp and his wife, Paltrow, enlists Depp to find a stolen painting on which the Nazis reportedly put the numbers to a Swiss bank account. Depp flies all over the world to try to get the painting and secure it away from a Syrian-trained terrorist and keep the terrorist from getting the money in the Swiss bank account. Accompanying Depp is his butler/bodyguard (Paul Bettany).
Believe me that my description makes this movie look much better than it is. I’m being very generous when I give it . . .
HALF A REAGAN

* “Two Days, One Night [Deux Jours, Une Nuit]“: This French film with English subtitles takes place in Belgium. It’s your typical left-wing anti-business movie. 9/11 truther Marion Cotillard plays a woman who has been on sick leave from her working-class factory job, due to depression. While she was away, her employer realized it could get all of the necessary work done with 16 employees, rather than the usual 17 including her. And the plant foreman doesn’t like her.
When she seeks to return to work, the union has a vote between a large bonus or allowing Cotillard to get her job back. Most employees vote for the bonus. But Cotillard’s employer allows a second vote, and with the encouragement of her devoted husband, Cotillard visits her fellow employees over the weekend to try to convince them to vote for her to keep her job instead of them getting the bonus. Throughout, she’s tearful, whiny, and popping pills.
Not only is it depressing, but it’s your typical anti-capitalist, anti-free-market movie depicting the narrative of “evil” businesses pitting poor working-class employees against each other in order to try to fight for their jobs. And the movie is slow and boring, to boot. No way I’d pay to see this.

Weekend Box Office: Prisoners,Thanks For Sharing

Here is an interesting article from http://www.debbieschlussel.com/ reviewing some of the movies that came out over the past weekend. Weekend Box Office: Thanks For Sharing

By Debbie Schlussel

Because of the myriad Jewish holidays, I did not see most of the new movies debuting in theaters today. (I did not see “Prisoners” or “Battle of the Year,” but I will try to see the former later this weekend and post my review afterward.) In fact, I only saw one, “Thanks For Sharing,” and I wish I hadn’t. It’s more like, “No Thanks For Sharing. TMI [Too Much Information].”

Is America hurting from some shortage of sex addiction/masturbation movies? Seems like the pervs in Hollywood must think so, because I’ve seen more than one movie recently involving those topics. This one and “Don Jon,” which will come out in theaters next week, and my review will be posted then.

I wasn’t sure what the point of this movie was . . . other than to provide paychecks for the equally loathsome Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, and Josh Gad, and to give Gwyneth Paltrow the opportunity to strip and show off her flat-chested body in lingerie. Yes, we know–a trainer paid tens of thousands of dollars to spend several hours a day in a gym with Gwyneth works. Thanks for the tip. Paltrow, per usual, is more than just a little bit annoying. She’s mega-annoying.

The story: three men (Ruffalo, Robbins, and Gad) are in different stages of recovery from sex addiction. They were all ordered to attend twelve steps meetings through court orders. Ruffalo has been “over” his sex addiction for five years, Robbins for several (he gave his wife Hepatitis C), and Gad has just started. It follows them as they struggle to avoid sex addiction and build monogamous relationships (Ruffalo with Paltrow, and Gad with someone other than his five fingers). To add to the annoying part, the singer Pink a/k/a Alecia Moore also joins in as a sex addict. We are the world, we are the children, blah, blah, blah.

The movie is not only disgusting, stupid, and completely pointless, but it’s a total waste of ten-plus bucks and nearly two hours of your life you’ll never get back.

Avoid that mistake, and STAY. AWAY. Just awful.

FOUR MARXES PLUS FOUR OBAMAS PLUS FOUR BIN LADENS

Weekend Box Office 2: Prisoners

By Debbie Schlussel

“Prisoners,” in theaters this weekend, is a well-crafted thriller. While it is very violent–and not suitable for kids (it’s rated “R” for a reason)–the movie is tight and keeps you riveted and on the edge of your seat the whole time. At 2.5 hours, the movie is a little long, but you’re never bored, and there’s little of it that should be cut. It’s a very dark movie–dark and dreary the entire time in cinematics as well as story.

The story: two couples (Hugh Jackman/Maria Bello and Terrence Howard/Viola Davis) are close friends. On Thanksgiving, they have dinner together, but suddenly each couple’s younger daughter is missing. Jackman’s son believes a camper parked in the neighborhood is responsible for the kidnapping. And when the camper is located, the driver, Paul Dano, is mentally slow, and the investigating police detective (Jake Gyllenhaal) does not believe he’s the culprit, after hours of intense questioning. Jackman believes he’s responsible and begins surveilling Dano at the home of his aunt (Melissa Leo), where Dano lives. Soon, after Dano does and says suspicious things, Jackman captures him and subjects him to torture to try to find out where his daughter is.

Telling you more would give away the movie. But it’s incredibly creepy. I had a few reservations. Jackman’s character is a devout Christian, and yet he resorts to torture, something they’d never show Muslims doing, despite the fact that Muslims are more likely to sanction and engage in that kind of behavior. They do it on a regular basis. Jackman’s character is also a hunter, and it appears that Hollywood is trying to show that Christian gun-owners will engage in unnecessary violence when set up in the right circumstances. It’s interesting also that the movie engages in mild racial politics, with the torturer in the in the movie being the White Christian hunter. In contrast, the movie shows the Black man–whose young daughter has also been abducted–as the voice of reason who opposes this sort of violence and torture. The Christian part is explained because it is an element of the plot. However, it wasn’t necessary.

If you can look beyond those momentary parts of the movie, it’s worth seeing and is far better than I expected. I lowered my rating of the movie (from THREE or THREE-AND-A-HALF REAGANS), though, because of those things.

It’s suspenseful, entertaining, well done, and filled with good acting. And I loved the ending, which is pitch perfect.

Robert Downey Jr.: Short superstar shattering stereotypes

Here is an interesting article from http://isteve.blogspot.com about Hollywood men and their taller women costars. This follows this post  http://nicholasstixuncensored.blogspot.com  about the Knoxville Horor. In the meantime, you can read two very interesting books HERE.

Robert Downey Jr.: Short superstar shattering stereotypes

Robert Downey Jr. is currently the biggest box office star in the world, but he's definitely not the tallest. The good obsessives at CelebHeights peg him at 5'8". That sounds about right. Back when Downey was out of prison and out of work about a dozen years ago, I used to see him at our sons' baseball and soccer games at the local park, and he's not tall at all.*

These days, Hollywood casts short leading men with leading ladies who are taller than them (e.g., Gwyneth Paltrow with Downey, Nicole Kidman with Tom Cruise).

In general, leading men are not as disproportionately tall as during Golden Age Hollywood (John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, and Cary Grant were all close to a half foot taller than the average American man of their time). Overall, I'd say that the decline in bias in Hollywood toward tall role models is a good thing.

Height used to be a pretty good marker of having enjoyed good nurture (e.g, had plenty to eat as a child). The Tory cabinet of prime minister Lord Salisbury in 1895 averaged six feet at a time when that was about a half foot taller than the average British man. From a female husband-hunting perspective, evidence that a man's family provided well for him when he was a child is evidence of a lot of good things. There's no downside to growing up so that you attain close to your genetic maximum of height.

Over time though, the systematic nutritional and health deficits that prevent a youth from a lower class background of attaining the full height of which his genes are capable have diminished. The NBA is full of guys who grew up on welfare. (Although in Downey's case, the kind of heavy drug use from very early age might have knocked an inch off his height.)

So, height is increasingly a measure less of nurture and more of nature. And, as somebody who is 6'4", the genetic advantages and disadvantages of being unusually tall seem like a mixed bag. If people weren't somewhat subjectively biased in favor of tall men like myself, I'd probably say the objective tradeoffs (clumsiness, head-banging, etc.) aren't really worth it. The human body isn't optimized for my height.

So, the continuing prejudice in favor of the tall seems increasingly pointless because it's now mostly a nature difference masquerading as a nurture difference, and there's no terribly good reason to want genes for additional height to be favored. Thus, the fact that Hollywood role models currently come in all heights seems, on the whole, like a good thing.

-------------

* By the way, don't get the impression from this that Downey is some kind of regular guy. I said hello to him and he said hello back, very friendly, but the Charisma Gap was astounding. In a social setting that was blase about minor levels of celebrity -- e.g., the baseball team mom was an Emmy-nominated character actress -- Downey, in disgrace, was the cynosure of all eyes of team parents. Just lounging on the grass watching his kid take infield practice, he's magnetic.

You know those scenes in Iron Man where Tony Stark wakes up from a horrible dream? I suspect Downey's Method Acting technique for this is to tell himself: "Just imagine I had a nightmare that I had to move back to the Valley!"

Weekend Box Office: Iron Man 3, Arthur Newman

Weekend Box Office: Iron Man 3, Arthur Newman

By Debbie Schlussel

Nothing all that great and new at the movies, this weekend:

* “Iron Man 3“: I did not like this movie and found it incredibly boring, especially for something with so much action and such a big budget. The movie was blah and didn’t have a tight script. A lot of it didn’t even make sense (such as how they can remove Tony Stark’s power source in this movie, when in the other “Iron Man” movies it was deemed impossible). It was a yawner with zero plot or story to speak of.

But if you can call it a plot, it’s the fantasy of every Ron Paulistinian/Muslim/9/11 Truther/anti-American conspiracy theorist. . . and it’s absolutely ridiculous. To wit, an evil defense contractor (played by Guy Pearce) wants to get lots of government defense contracts (and take revenge on Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.)). So, he invents a fake terrorist and pays an actor to play “The Mandarin,” who is a Bin Laden-esque character (and is played by Ben Kingsley) and pretend that he is behind the terrorist attacks and explosions around the world that the evil defense contractor is actually perpetrating. The Mandarin makes Bin-Laden-style videos threatening America and Iron Man. Tony Stark has to stop him and then finds out who is really behind the plot. Uh-huh, just like they say on the Arab Street: Bin Laden didn’t do 9/11. It was the evil CIA, Mossad, and defense contractors seeking to gin up biz. By the way, I understand from real comic book fans that The Mandarin is nothing like this and is a real villain in the comic books.

Also, there’s a woman from Tony’s past who is working for the defense contractor. Oh, and the “Not Even Most Beautiful Women in the Room,” Gwyneth Paltrow, makes her annoying re-entrance as Tony Stark’s girlfriend. Who cares? I didn’t.

The movie is long, boring, and a waste of time. Since it’s the first big blockbuster of the summer movie-going season, it doesn’t portend well for the future movie offerings in the next few months. This movie was crap. But I’m sure it’ll make gazillions anyway. There’s no accounting for bad taste in America.

Also, if you’re gonna make a movie about superheroes, which you know will be attended by lots of kids, why put in dirty dialogue, like, “I need to wet my bead [or beet? I couldn't tell], if ya know what I mean”? That’s uttered by Tony Stark to another character to tell him he’s about to have sex. Uggh. In a superhero movie? Really?

One last thing: Don’t bother wasting your time sitting through the ending credits, which are longer than ever, and seem to include the names of every single person living in India and every single Asian animator and special effects dude. The “stinger” at the end of the movie isn’t that great and not worth it. Just sayin’.

I didn’t like “Iron Man 2″ (read my review), but this makes that look like the epitome of awesomeness. The general rule lives on: sequels suck. The first “Iron Man” movie (read my review) is still the best one by far. This movie is standard “Suckerville 101 for the Masses.” Skip it, and you miss nothing.

I love superhero movies. But not this. Let the Iron Man fanboy hate mail begin.

TWO MARXES

* “Arthur Newman“: This indiefilm is showing mostly at arthouse theaters and wasn’t screened for Detroit-area movie critics. After seeing it on my own, I know why. It was long, slow, boring, and pointless. A recently-fired divorced father (Colin Firth) of a teen son fakes his own death, assumes a new identity, and escapes for a new life as a golf pro in Indiana. On his way there, he meets a homeless, drunken hooker (Emily Blunt) and tries to save her from herself. Soon, she joins him on his trip, and they break into other people’s houses for the purposes of putting on their clothes and having sex.

What’s the point of abandoning your son who needs you for the fantasy life you want but won’t end up having anyway? And breaking into people’s houses to have sex? Really? I hate how movies glorify this bad behavior as “finding yourself.” It ain’t. And I really didn’t like either of these characters. This flick was a time bandit kinda movie. It robbed me of ten bucks and nearly two hours of my life I’ll never get back. My life would be just as fine had I not wasted part of it on this movie.

I was intrigued by the description of this movie: faking your death to escape to a new life. I thought it would be a suspenseful thriller. But, sadly, this wasn’t that movie. Not even close.

“The Avengers” is a Messy, Lackluster Bore

Here is an interesting article from http://www.debbieschlussel.com/ reviewing some of the movies that came out over the past weekend. “The Avengers” is a Messy, Lackluster Bore

By Debbie Schlussel

I’m sure I’ll get a ton of hate-mail from fanboy slacker losers in “adult” bodies for saying this, as I always do when I knock down their flimsy sacred cows.  But I hated “The Avengers,” in theaters today.  I was really looking forward to the movie and wanted to like it.  But how could I?  It’s just long, dull, and boring.  The story is lame, and it ends up looking like a gazillion final scenes from every incarnation of “The Transformers” movies.  I walked out thinking, “Is that all there is?”  And I was thinking that all throughout the movie, waiting for it to take off and spark interest.

It’s a waste of what was almost 2.5 hours and seemed like seven.  The reason you go to movies like this is for the special effects, and even those weren’t so special.  I’ve seen it a gazillion times before.  And so have you.  On top of that, the 3-D was pointless, not coming even close to a movie that uses it well, such as “Hugo” (read my review).

No, there’s nothing objectionable about the movie (unless, like me, the vision of the anti-Israel, leftist spoiled hack, Gwyneth Paltrow, however brief, annoys the heck out of you).  No politics and or anything too dirty for kids.  In fact, the movie languishes in blandness.  Yes, there are some funny, snappy lines uttered by the different superheroes in the movie.  But it’s not supposed to be an occasional comedy of sarcastic lines.  It’s supposed to be a superhero movie.  And it’s just not super.  There’s no magic, no engaging story you, none of the charm you expect–and should expect–from superhero movies.

And it’s just not a tight, well-crafted script or plot. Any superhero movie that can’t get its act together in two hours or less doesn’t cut it . . . or cut anything, including plenty of repeats of the same scenes and groanworthy gags. Captain America, for instance, is the target of a running joke by the other superheroes because he fell asleep during World War II and woke up today. They and he keep joking that he’s behind the times. Um, I got it the first time. Not funny. Ditto for the non-stop goading by various parties to try to get Bruce Banner to turn into “The Hulk” or attempts to prevent him from getting angry so he doesn’t destroy the ship. It gets old after like five times. The writers and producers could do better. A lot better. But why would they? They know that if they just slap the name, “The Avengers,” on a movie and include all the superheroes, it’ll be a blockbuster success, no matter what they do or what I say. Again, just like the “Transformers” franchise. All of the fanboys will brainlessly rush to pay their money to see the Midnight showing, without a second thought. If terrorists really wanted to get us, they’d find a way to insert mind control or secret hypnosis and programming into these cinematic emperors with no clothing.

The actors, with the exception of Robert Downey, Jr.–who’s been pretty good as Tony Stark in the two “Iron Man” flicks–are mostly dull and, at best, adequate. Mark Ruffalo–the most effeminate straight actor in Hollywood–as Bruce Banner and “The Hulk”? Not buyin’ it. He didn’t make the grade. Scarlett Johansson was okay, too. But it’s just that they had little to work with. I like “The Hulk” and “Iron Man” movies, but not this milquetoast stew of all the superheroes and a crappy, unsuspenseful plot.

The story: the superheroes are rounded up by a secret agent working for Samuel L. Jackson. They all join forces on a submarine/spaceship to stop the Norse god, Loki, from destroying the earth with a power source he stole from the ship. Thor, the Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, etc. all get together but spend most of their time quarreling over whose superpowers are superior and delivering sarcastic slapstick on the ship. Like I said, it’s boring and repetitive.

When they finally have it out with Loki on the ship and in New York, the movie has been going for almost two hours already. And then, it seems like it’s going to end about eight times before it finally does. I was ready at punked ending #1.

Like I said, I’m sure I’ll get attacked by the mindless fanboy crowd, like I did when I knocked “The Watchmen” (read my review).  “Avengers” Derangement Syndrome now joins “Watchmen” Derangement Syndrome.  In their blind worship, they are almost as strictly orthodox and verbally abusive as Muslims (and jealous faux-”conservatives” like Michelle Fraudkin and her mind-addled cronies) in their jihad against me and any other who dares to criticize some of the obviously empty fictional idols of the Church of Comic Books and Graphic Novels (or at least the empty on-screen depictions of them).  They are so predictable and easily played by Hollywood and its marketers.  And I say this as a superhero and comic book fan–have been one since I was a kid and a my dad shared his vintage Captain Marvel and other comic books with me).

When I walked out of the “Avengers” screening a couple of weeks ago and said I didn’t like it, two liberal media critics–who are fanboys–verbally attacked me in the abusive manner you’d attack a violent criminal who just hit your child, while you watch police cuff him.

But that doesn’t faze me a bit or change the fact: the movie was a long bore and a waste of time.

“The Avengers” is an empty shell wrapped in a lot of capes and tights, a lot of sarcasm and mild attempts at comedy, some cool special effects you’ve already seen . . . and not much else.

I’ve seen more magic and charm in a Barack Obama press conference. And a visit to the dentist.

Wknd Box Office: Warrior, Contagion, Creature, Attack the Block, Brighton Rock

Here is an interesting article from http://www.debbieschlussel.com/  reviewing some of the movies that came out over the past weekend. This follows this post some of the movies from last week and  THIS POST about some movies that have been released over the past few years that you might have missed!  This all  follows this post about guidelines to chosing good movies to watch yourself!

Wknd Box Office: Warrior, Contagion, Creature, Attack the Block, Brighton Rock

By Debbie Schlussel

One of the best movies of the year–if not the best–this weekend. One okay movie. And the rest are absolute garbage.

* “Warrior“: If this isn’t my pick for best movie of the year, it will probably be in my top two or three. Absolutely excellent. Heart-pounding, non-stop action, entertaining, and patriotic.

As I noted when I initially wrote about this great movie, many movies are deemed as “the new Rocky” or “the next Rocky,” and none of them lives up to it.  Not even close.  This one does.  In fact, I think I might even like it better than “Rocky.”  This one involves Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), not pure boxing, and is, therefore, a little more violent, something to consider if you have young kids.  But it’s fine for teens.  It’s ultimately positive and uplifting, though there is a little melodrama I could have done without.

The story: Joel Edgerton and Tom Hardy play brothers, the estranged sons of recovering alcoholic Nick Nolte. Both used to be boxers that he trained, but they have nothing to do with him because, as a drunk, he was bad to his wife (their mother) and them. Edgerton is a high school teacher, husband, and father, struggling to save his family’s home. And Hardy is a mentally off-kilter, angry U.S. soldier who served in Iraq, who seems unbeatable with his brutal take-no-prisoners boxing style. Both train to win an international MMA competition in Atlantic City, and both have their struggles. Edgerton is older, and his wife and others think he’s too old for this line of work, which could kill him.

Hardy, while agreeing to train with his recovering addict father (who is now a religious Christian), is very mean and obnoxious to him outside the ring. Some of that was a little much and kind of painful to watch. But, overall, the movie is riveting and the kind you want to applaud at the end. While the movie is a little slow at first, it quickly speeds up all the way to the finish. I loved the ending, too. It stops at just the right moment. And until that point, it’s full of suspense and thrills.

If there’s one drawback, it’s that the movie temporarily descends into political correctness. At one point, the man to beat in the MMA competition is a Russian goliath, who wears the Soviet hammer and sickle. But, as we all know, the Soviet Union is long gone. A better choice for this villain would have been a Muslim goliath. But, as we all know, it’s the first rule in Hollywood these days: thou shalt not speak ill of Muslims.

Yet, even with this flaw, “Warrior” is still fantastic. If you see one movie this year, see this. Liking boxing or understanding MMA is not required. But if you like those as I do, you’ll love this even more.

Absolutely my kind o’ movie!

FOUR REAGANS

* “Contagion“: The best thing about this movie is that the execrable Gwyneth Palestine-trow dies at the beginning.  Unfortunately, there are scenes of her after that.  And it also stars the even more loathsome Matt Damon, promoter of anti-American Howard Zinn and other BS. Add to that, 9/11 Truther nut Marion Cotillard.  Still I gotta review the movie.

If you like doomsday or epidemic movies like I do, you’ll like the first half or so of this movie. But, then, as it resolves itself, it’s boring, cheesy, and not very believable. And it’s a letdown.

An epidemic starts and spreads, killing millions of people worldwide. And it can neither be identified, nor can a vaccine be developed because the virus keeps killing everything with which it’s spliced, etc. Gwyneth Paltrow gets the virus in Asia, from which she’s just flown home to Minnesota, after a business trip. She starts to get sick, and soon dies in front of her husband, Matt Damon. On the way home from the hospital, he learns his young son has died, too. Soon, the World Health Organization and the Department of Homeland Security are on the scene, seeking to trace the virus and find out how fast it incubates and spreads, how to contain it, and how to vaccinate it.

Meanwhile, there are riots on the streets, abandoned stores, and wanton crime and robberies of neighbors, as Damon and others struggle to make sense of it all.

A left-wing blogger (Jude Law) is constantly questioning the government with conspiracy theories and criticism, and his audience is growing. The best part is that he turns out to be a fraud and a phony in the end, typical of many on the left (and, sadly, far too many on the right, too). Also, a World Health Organization doctor tells his fiancee (or wife–it was confusing) to leave Chicago before the State of Illinois is quarantined, and he gets in trouble for it. You know those lefty do-gooders who work for the WHO always give their family and friends special treatment.

Like I said, the first part was great and riveting, but the second half is a letdown and makes you wonder if it was worth it.

ONE REAGAN

* “Creature“: I would say that this went from bad to worse, but it’s more like worser to worst. This was sooooo absolutely awful, disgusting, and just plain stupid. Incest, a sister masturbating and making out with her brother, a half-alligator/half-human monster who looks like a bad Halloween costume, multiple topless scenes, and horribly cartoonish, creepy Southern hillbilly stereotypes are what this movie is chock full of. No thanks. I’d have walked out of this two minutes in if I didn’t have to review it. It was that bad . . . and worse.

Four very unlikable 20-somethings are driving in the backwoods of Louisiana, where they stop at a convenience store for gas and learn of the urban legend of a half-human/half-alligator creature (or is it, half-crocodile? I didn’t care, ‘cuz this movie stank that bad). They go to the house in the backwater to find it, and camp out there at night, when they are terrorized by killers, the crocodile man, and the hillbillies.

YUCK!!!!

FOUR MARXES PLUS

* “Attack the Block“: This British film has the usual liberal “we shall overcome with minority criminals” BS. A group of violent teen Black and Muslim criminal thugs who rob and attack people are the heroes of this movie because they fight off aliens from their London-area apartment complex (“the Block”). Uh, nice try, but thugs are thugs. Period. Most disgusting was the part when the police want to arrest the thugs and the woman who they robbed lies to protect them at the end. Moronette. Reminds me of the Americans who continue to assume the role of apologist for Islam.

FOUR MARXES

* “Brighton Rock“: Awful. This British movie should have come with a Cockney decoder, because for the first third of it, I couldn’t understand a thing they were saying. Speak English or give us subtitles. A gangster thug in the ’60s murders a rival gangster and marries the one woman who can tie him to the murder to keep her quiet. She’s a moron and a fool, and I wanted them all to die. Slow, boring, pointless.

Coldplay Endorses Palestinian Jihad Against Israel

By Debbie Schlussel

I suppose it should be no surprise that Coldplay, the overrated band headed by Chris Martin is anti-Israel. After all, Martin’s half-Jewish and wholly annoying wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, helped fundraise for a pro-HAMAS charity which teaches Palestinian kids to be extremists, which helps propagandize Palestinian kids in refugee camps. Check out the video below, which Coldplay posted on its Facebook fan page.
