Village Life Has Ceased Virginia Tech Tragedy

An interesting article from http://www.ucg.org/ about the Virginia Tech shooting. This follows this post about Iran. This follows this post about Zika. For a free magazine subscription or to get the books recommended for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886- 8632.

Tragedy struck at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, on Monday, April 16, when 32 students and faculty members were brutally massacred—a sobering reminder of our violent age. In the past few years, since the late 1990s, school shootings have become a depressingly repetitive occurrence in the United States.
photo A few years ago I experienced firsthand the fear of such violence at my high school during a lockdown due to a threat of serious danger. The feeling of fear came back only months later with the terrible shooting at nearby Thurston High School in Springfield, Oregon. A murderous student shot 26, but killed only four thanks to heroic responses by students and emergency crews. It shook the entire community.
Beyond the obvious loss of life, the second most tragic result of these despicable acts is the loss of innocence to the young people who suffer through these attacks. Be sure to request or download the free booklet Why Does God Allow Suffering? .
When you spend time fearing for your life and the lives of those around you, you become suspicious of everyone and everything. It takes a lot of work to see the world as a place with hope and happiness again. That this happens in schools—institutions that should represent safety and assurance of good things to come—is emotionally and spiritually damaging and such a sad waste of youthful potential.
Several television commentators introduced the Virginia Tech situation with, “People are just trying to make sense of these events.” The problem with that statement is that you can't make sense of such horrible acts. It's insanity in the same way that war is insanity and tragic no matter how you try to explain it. We can't live completely happy, fulfilled lives in a world full of violence on an individual or international scale. God has other, better plans for man, but mankind and the devil have managed to thwart those plans throughout history—for a little while at least.
The violence at Virginia Tech, or anywhere in the world, reminds me of how Deborah in the biblical book of Judges described her battle against the violent, terrorizing forces of King Jabin and General Sisera. “The highways were deserted, and… village life ceased, it ceased in Israel” until her leadership helped to bring justice (Judges 5:6-7). Village life, campus life and family life are interrupted and injured during tragedies like these, and people mistrust and grow fearful, even of God.
America, like all the nations of the world, diverges from the direction God planned for peoples to go. Some try to blame the weapons in these tragedies—as if a piece of metal and gunpowder caused mayhem and death of its own volition. But the real crisis is in the hearts of those who wield such weapons to do violence. The influence of a society that is entertained by sin and violence produces the setting in which a warped mind is developed, yet the sins of the individual are his or hers alone.
Facing tragedy can mire us in the sadness of wasted life. But this is the time to grow strong with faith, hope and courage. The future is not lost, and God provides endless hope within His plan for all those killed or wounded throughout history. Hardships strengthen us, testing our resolve and fortitude to do what is right—no matter the cost. When we appeal to God with repentance for help and guidance, the words of Isaiah carry considerable weight:
“Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you: The glory of the L ORD shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the L ORD will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am'” (Isaiah 58:8-9). VT

Virginia knife attack likely an Islamic State-inspired beheading attempt

A timely post about from www.jihadwatch.org about a downplayed story about Virginia. This follows this post about Benghazi victims' families suing Hillary Clinton. This follows this article about American energy independence and preventing money from going to hostile countries. For more, you can read two very interesting books HERE.You can follow me here.

Virginia knife attack may be Islamic State-inspired beheading attempt

Two innocent victims were stabbed in a Roanoke apartment building, in what was reported by investigators to be a random attack. The only piece of information that first emerged was eyewitness accounts of Wasil Farooqui yelling “Allahu akbar” as he stabbed his victims. Now we learn:
“The madman who allegedly shouted “Allah Akbar” as he stabbed two victims in Virginia over the weekend may have been aiming for an ISIS-inspired beheading.”
By Western standards, any human committing such an atrocity is deemed “mad,” “crazy,” “insane,” “messed up,” etc. While such acts are indeed “sick” as Westerners know it, our civilized culture fails to grasp the nature and history of jihadi zeal, driven by the will to conquer and indoctrination about the necessity of violence toward the infidel, including commands to “cast terror into the hearts of the unbelievers” (Qur’an 3:151) and “strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip” (Qur’an 8:12).

More on this story. “Virginia knife attack may have been ISIS-inspired beheading attempt”, by Keri Blakinger, New York Daily News (thanks to The Religion of Peace), August 23, 2016:
The madman who allegedly shouted “Allah Akbar” as he stabbed two victims in Virginia over the weekend may have been aiming for an ISIS-inspired beheading, sources told ABC News.
Wasil Farooqui is accused of wounding a man and woman in a Roanoke apartment building when he went after them Saturday evening with a knife, authorities said.
The brutal attacker and his two victims — who may have been picked at random — were taken to the hospital after the stabbing. Though the pair was severely injured, by Monday they were “recovering well,” police said in a statement.
The victims’ names will not be released, police said.
The 20-year-old stabber may have been trying to behead his male victim, according to ABC.
Farooqui has been on the feds’ radar for a while, and may have journeyed to Turkey and tried sneaking into Syria sometime within the past year.
After the August knife attack, the FBI launched a probe into a possible terror connection.
Farooqui has been charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding and is being held without bail in the county jail…..

YAF's Annual Commencement Survey: Liberals Outnumber Conservatives 6-to-1

A timely post about from www.yaf.org about commencement speeches, including Michelle Obama, who is highlighted by VDARE here. This follows this post about Sofia Vergara

Graduate
Young America’s Foundation’s (YAF) 23rd annual Commencement Speakers Survey reveals liberal speakers are dominating the 2015 commencement speakers’ circuit.

2015 Commencement GraphicEvery year, YAF surveys the commencement speakers from the top 100 universities, as ranked by US News and World Report. Some of the critical findings include:
  • Among the top 100 universities: liberal speakers outnumber conservatives 6-to-1.
  • Among the top 50 universities: the ratio increases to 9 liberals for every 1 conservative.
  • Among the top 10 universities: there were 0 conservatives and 9 liberal speakers.

Not one conservative official currently serving in office was scheduled to speak. Current liberal officials—including Vice President Joe Biden, Governor Terry McAuliffe, Senator Michael Bennet, Congressman John Lewis, and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti—all received invitations to share their ideas. Among the top 100 universities, only one conservative public policy official, President George W. Bush, was schedule to speak. Liberal office-holders and office-seekers were scheduled to speak at nine schools.

The data also shows favoritism by these universities toward Obama administration officials. Nine Obama administration appointees are speakers in 2015—compared to 14 George W. Bush administration officials for the entire eight years of Bush’s presidency.

This bias toward liberal speakers is an established trend: in 2014, the ratio was five-to-one; in 2013, four-to-one; in 2012, seven-to-one.

Ron Robinson, president of Young America’s Foundation, said, “Higher education preaches inclusion and diversity, while largely excluding conservative leaders from campuses. This is exactly why Young America’s Foundation has the largest conservative campus speaker series in the country—because our speakers will likely be the only conservatives students hear from in college.”

YAF’s full survey, including methodology, can be found here. YAF determines speaker ideology by surveying speakers’ public FEC records, searchable public statements and endorsements, and their service in elected or appointed office.

Pro-Life Ken Cuccinelli Catches Pro-Abortion Terry McAuliffe in Latest Poll

BLOGGERS NOTE: I WILL BE MOVING FROM FACEBOOK TO TWITTER AND BLOGSPOT SOON!
An interesting story from www.lifenews.com  about the Virginia governor’s race. This follows this post about Obamacare funding abortions. For more that you can do to get involved click HERE and you can also get two very interesting books HERE.

by Steven Ertelt

With just days to go before Virginia voters head to the polls, pro-life, gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli has caught up to pro-abortion candidate Terry McAuliffe.

Earlier pols put McAuliffe closer to 50 percent and Cuccinelli behind him by double digits. However, he trailed by just a handful earlier in the week and a new survey has him behind just two points — within the margin of error.

Is Ken Cuccinelli closing in on Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia governor’s race? The latest poll from Emerson College shows McAuliffe, the Democrat, with 42 percent support and Cuccinelli, the Republican, with 40 percent. Libertarian Robert Sarvis has 13 percent in the poll of 874 likely voters.

The two-point lead for McAuliffe is the smallest he’s had in any poll since September. Emerson’s previous poll, from September, showed McAuliffe with a five-point lead. The Real Clear Politics average of polls still shows McAuliffe ahead by more than six points.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5.

Third party candidates rarely do as well as they poll and the expectation by many conservatives is that a couple of percentage points in support for Sarvis, who is pro-abortion as well, will drop off and those voters will either not vote or will likely go to Cuccinnelli by a decent margin. If that happens and if the shift continues, Virginia is in store for another pro-life governor.

Emily Buchanan of Women Speak Out – Virginia, a political action committee that supports pro-life candidate Ken Cuccinelli, says there is a huge contrast between the two candidates on abortion.

“Our pro-life candidate, Ken Cuccinelli, has made decisive strides in the this important race – it’s a statistical tie in the polls. His campaign is gaining momentum,” she said over the weekend. “Ken is a faithful, devout Christian and an authentic pro-life champion who fought to defund Planned Parenthood of our taxpayer dollars. He was even the first Attorney General to take on Obamacare because it forces you and I to fund abortions.”

“Pro-life governors were imperative to our past pro-life victories this summer. In Texas, Ohio, and North Carolina, we had a pro-life friend in the governor’s mansion. They kept our momentum going, and now we’re facing the abortion industry and their puppet candidate whose goal is massive expansion of the abortion agenda,” Buchanan added.

She continued: “In Virginia, Ken’s opponent Terry McAuliffe has vowed to keep Big Abortion in business by helping substandard abortion clinics to skirt common sense regulations. They’ve enlisted the help of their friend Hillary Clinton to help fund Terry so they can change the abortion facility regulations from inside the governor’s mansion.”

McAuliffe was caught dodging a reporter’s question after inventing a false power he claimed he would have as governor to keep unlawful abortion clinics open.

McAuliffe is quick to attack his pro-life Republican opponent on the issue of abortion, but, as Weekly Standard John McCormack reports, he won’t answer questions about his own stance on abortion and whether he supports taxpayer-funded abortions up to the day of birth.

At a campaign event, McAuliffe pledged his unwavering — and disturbing — support for abortion providers and facilities in the state of Virginia if given the governor’s seat.
