"In It You Shall Do No Work"

An interesting article from http://www.ucg.org/ about Labor Day and the Sabbath. This follows this post about China's military and trade. This follows this post about the Lost 10 Tribes.  This follows this post about Zika. For a free magazine subscription or to get the books recommended for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886- 8632.

MP3 Audio (4.97 MB)
According to the United States Department of Labor , Labor Day was created to honor the contributions that workers have made to the social and economic well-being of America. President Grover Cleveland first made it a federal holiday in 1894. Labor Day is the first Monday in September, falling on Sept. 5 this year. As an American college student myself, it makes a nice transition from working full-time to going back to classes for the year, giving summer one last hurrah.
God’s “work week” is a marvelous schedule that works. He pushes us to work hard at our jobs and various other responsibilities throughout the week, and then gives us the seventh day off to both relax and focus on Him.
Here’s an odd question: Have you ever stopped to consider God’s perspective on labor, or, as we might say today, “work”? It’s interesting to think and read about. God actually expects us to work for most of the week. In Exodus 20:9 we read God’s command that for “six [out of seven] days you shall labor and do all your work.” He also encourages us to work with passion and diligence: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Work is important and allows us to do many honorable things in life, such as provide for our families, grant help to those in need, and leave an inheritance for our children.
Are we then to work and slave away at all times? Certainly not! God understands that we aren’t tireless robots who can run all seven days of the week. He tells us—commands us even—to take the seventh day off!
Let’s return to Exodus 20 to get the rest of God’s important directive: “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God . In it you shall do no work” (Exodus 20:9-10; emphasis added). God wants us to take the seventh day off so bad that He makes it the fourth requirement in the most well-known section of His law: the Ten Commandments!
But there’s still more to the story besides not working! What are we supposed to do with these 24 hours of seemingly free time? The core of God’s Fourth Commandment is this: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy .” (Exodus 20:8; emphasis added).
One important way that we keep this day holy is by resting instead of working, as we already mentioned. Another significant way we honor the Sabbath is by attending church services, which are a holy convocation appointed by God Himself (Leviticus 23:3). Going to church allows us to converse with and encourage others who believe as we do and to worship and learn more about God and His truth. Please click here to find the congregation closest to you.
God’s “work week” is a marvelous schedule that works. He pushes us to work hard at our jobs and various other responsibilities throughout the week, and then gives us the seventh day off to both relax and focus on Him. This “recharge day” doesn’t come around just once a year; you can reap the benefits of God’s Sabbath every week! As you prepare for fall and for the upcoming holiday weekend, remember to always put God first and keep His Sabbaths holy. Have a blessed and restful Sabbath and Labor Day weekend.

Texas Union Leader Challenge H-2B Visas

An interesting article from www.numbersusa.com about the AFL-CIO and immigration. This follows this post about Matt Bevin winning the Kentucky governor's race. This follows this post about immigration enforcement in North Carolina. Remember, “Amnesty” means ANY non-enforcement of existing immigration laws! This follows this comment and this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! Also, you can read two very interesting books HERE.
Please follow me here.

Texas Union Leader Challenge H-2B Visas

Texas AFL-CIO union leader, Michael Cunningham, challenged H-2B visa applications, saying that there are Americans who can fill these positions. H-2B visas are temporary work permits given to low-skilled foreign workers to fill seasonal positions. They're typically used by landscapers, hoteliers, and resort areas.
After a change in immigration law in 2006 required companies seeking foreign workers to inform local labor unions, many unions were flooded with certified letters about the job opportunities being offered to foreign workers. Some companies were looking for a few temporary construction workers while others wanted to hire 100 or more foreign workers, whose wages varied from $3-$10 less per hour than what American construction workers were making.
The companies claimed that they needed the visas to meet the labor needs for jobs that Americans didn’t want to do. Yet, Cunningham claims that most of the time American workers often do not know about these employment opportunities.
The federal government offers 33,000 H-2B visas twice a year, but a surge of U.S. applicants or other disruptions can force a company’s visa application to the back of the line. Cunningham has studied the visa rules and regulations and challenged many applications on simple errors like timeliness and proper job posting language, or on whether the jobs are actually temporary.
He also encourages local union leaders to prove there are enough U.S. workers to fill the job positions. If a company is looking for 100 H-2B visas for foreign welders the local union members will flood the company’s fax machines with resumes from American workers.
One immigration lawyer, Jacob Monty, says a companies’ need for foreign workers is like “getting them on crack”. This addiction can be interrupted when unions challenge visa applications forcing many to the back of the line.
Jordan "Gig" Ritenour, Director of marketing for the international roofers' union and business manager in Texas said, "we were all so amazed that so many contractors are applying for foreign workers when we have thousands of roofers looking for work all the time." He noted that one foreign worker request was looking for a roofer for $8 an hour in comparison to a union member who is paid $22.84 an hour and a non-union member who is paid about $14 an hour.
"The reason employers want to use H-2B workers is because they can get a workforce that they can pay less and who will gladly work under adverse working conditions that are often better than what they can get at home," says Bill Beardall, Director of the Equal Justice Center, which represents workers on H-2B visas.
Last week Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) introduced legislation in both the House and the Senate that would increase the number of H-2B workers accepted into the U.S. each year.

Facebook Bullies – Zuckerberg Pledges $50 million for Attack Ads via FWD.US

BLOGGERS NOTE: I WILL BE MOVING FROM FACEBOOK TO TWITTER AND BLOGSPOT SOON!

Facebook Bullies – Zuckerberg Pledges $50 million for Attack Ads

October 11, 2013 By Kristen Williamson

Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook and he’s raised, well, a lot of his own money, but he’s raised $50 million to run ads supporting people who will support comprehensive immigration reform and to pressure people who may be on the fence.

Facebook Bullies – Zuckerberg Pledges $50 million for Attack Ads

Some Members of Congress say they support amnesty for humanitarian reasons. Some say they want to admit more guest workers because there is an economic need. Many claim it’s just the “right thing to do.”

Few explicitly reveal what’s really going on – it’s all about the money.

Last week, Senate and House “gang” members participated in an event hosted by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Eight Democrats and two Republicans (Senator John McCain and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart) attended.

The respective Senate and House panels contained the same platitudes in favor of amnesty and the expansion of legal immigration, but the update on the progress towards a House bill was particularly interesting.

Maybe feeling comfortable in his surroundings and forgetting the event was streaming live over the internet, Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.) took the opportunity to get a little boastful about the prospects of amnesty legislation:

“There’s virtually nobody organized against comprehensive immigration reform…We have the growers and the farm works. When we have the AFL-CIO and the Chamber of Congress agreeing. We have the high-tech industry…”

What a resounding endorsement for amnesty and mass immigration! Naturally the organizations and industries that stand to profit the most have expressed support for the Senate amnesty bill.

What a resounding endorsement for amnesty and mass immigration! Naturally the organizations and industries that stand to profit the most have expressed support for the Senate amnesty bill. The AFL-CIO and other struggling unions are eyeing potential dues paying members. The agricultural industry wants a guest worker program that makes it even easier to attract foreign workers for substandard pay. And the Chamber of Commerce and tech industry are clamoring to hire skilled and non-skilled workers from overseas to do jobs unemployed and underemployed Americans would do for a just compensation.

More disturbing is Rep. Yarmuth’s second reason for being optimistic about amnesty:

“And probably the most significant factor is there is no money on the other side of this issue. There’s nobody out there ready to spend $100 million to defeat comprehensive immigration reform.

In fact, all the money is on the side of pushing it. And just a couple weeks ago we met with Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook and he’s raised, well, a lot of his own money, but he’s raised $50 million to run ads supporting people who will support comprehensive immigration reform and to pressure people who may be on the fence.”

So, politics-as-usual prevails in Washington, but here we have a Member of Congress actually admitting that money talks. Forget about representing constituents, Americans, even legal residents – Zuckerberg has $50 million to run ads against you if you don’t support amnesty for illegal aliens and a massive influx of legal workers that will make his industry even more profitable.

Rep. Yarmuth closed by saying:

“And I think the most compelling thing that he said when we met with him was – and he raised this from his buddies in the high-tech industry – but he said they didn’t give money to this cause because of economic reasons. They gave it because of humanitarian reasons. And that’s really significant.”

Keep telling yourself that, Zuckerberg. You and the young Silicon Valley set who have donated to Zuckerberg’s FWD.us claim to be compassionate millenials, but clearly you should get off your high horses. Admit that you’re no better than the big business leaders who came before you – using money and threats to put big business interests before Americans.

At Congressional Black Caucus Conference, ACORN Boss Bertha Lewis Calls for Politically Destroying Whites Through Amnesty and Unlimited, Non-White Immigration

A timely post about from http://nicholasstixuncensored.blogspot.com about ACORN and the Black Caucus. This follows this post about Harry Reid’s influence on American society. In the meantime, you can get more involved if you like here and read an interesting book HERE.

At Congressional Black Caucus Conference, ACORN Boss Bertha Lewis Calls for Politically Destroying Whites Through Amnesty and Unlimited, Non-White Immigration

Re-posted by Nicholas Stix

ACORN’s former chief calls for more immigration to boost black power

By Neil Munro

September 20, 2013, 11:03 P.M.

The Daily Caller

ACORN’s former CEO Bertha Lewis urged Africans-Americans to support increased immigration as a strategy to gain political power.

“We got some Latino cousins, we got some Asian cousins, we got some Native-American cousins, we got all kind of cousins,” said Lewis, who spoke Thursday at the annual political conference of the Congressional Black Caucus.

“Cousins need to get together because if we’re going to be [part of the non-white] majority, it makes sense for black people in this country to get down with immigration reform,” said Lewis, whose ACORN group was formally disbanded in 2010 after a series of scandals.

Lewis did not mention solidarity with whites, or with people who define themselves as Americans, in her appeal for power.

“Everyone, even all white folks in this country, acknowledge that in a minute, [the] United States of America will be a new majority, will be majority minority, a brand-new thing,” she said.

In 2012, “for the first time ever in history, African-Americans outvoted white Americans. Oooh. That’s the fear of the white man. That could change everything. That’s why [immigration] should matter to us,” she declared.

Lewis got only modest applause from the room of 300 attendees, nearly all of whom were black.

But her appeal for non-white solidarity was backed up by New York Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke.

“What will happen with comprehensive immigration reform will be a new landscape of humanity in the United States of America,” Clarke told the attendees.

“America is a shape-shifter, and based on who’s here, in what numbers and at what time, determines the political outcomes,” she said. Blacks should cooperate with Latinos, she said, adding “we all have skin in the game, literally.”

The racial appeal was echoed by William Spriggs, chief economist at the AFL-CIO. “If we are going to be the new majority, we’re going to have to start acting like the new majority and start setting the new rules,” he said.

Once Congress approves an immigration increase, minorities should demand more, said Chicago Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a leading advocate of the pending Senate bill,

“The next day after we pass it, you know we’re not going to be satisfied, we’re going to come back,” he said. “We’re going to have a civil rights act, we’re going to have a voting rights act… Nobody is leaving this fight once we conclude this first chapter,” he said.

“Hopefully, in 30 years, [we] can bring immigrants… from all over the world,” Gutierrez said. [N.S.: Excepting white countries, that is.]

The call for solidarity among non-whites was commingled with some non-racial calls for solidarity of working-class Americans.

African-Americans should not object to gains by immigrants, said Spriggs, who became a union economist after leaving an assistant secretary job at the Obama Department of Labor.

“Somebody else winning doesn’t mean you’re losing,” the economist explained. “We can’t let one set of workers be pushed aside and think we’re going to make it.”

Other attendees complained about immigrants’ refusal to hire African-Americans or to accept civil-rights laws, and the commonplace stealing of Social Security Numbers.

Currently, the formal unemployment rate among African-Americans is 13 percent. However, the formal number understates the level of unemployment. For example, fewer than half of black men aged between 18 and 30 have full-time jobs.

Last June, President Barack Obama bypassed Congress’ opposition to an amnesty for younger illegal immigrants, and has awarded work-permits to almost 500,000 young illegal immigrants.

This July, with support from Obama, the Senate passed an immigration bill that would provide work permits to roughly 33 million immigrants and create a pool of roughly 2 million blue-collar and university-trained guest-workers, over the next decade.

Advocates say increased immigration will spur the economy and fund a bigger government.

But studies of increased immigration suggest the economic gains will go to immigrants and company owners. Some attendees said the caucus should focus more clearly on issues of concern to black Americans.

“We are the last hired and have the last opportunities, yet amnesty supporters would have you think that adding millions more workers at this time is good,” said Leah Durant, founder of the Black American Leadership Alliance. ”When so many Americans of all races are out of work, that is ridiculous,” Durant told TheDaily Caller.

“Blacks as well as other low-skilled workers have made their greatest advances when we have low levels of immigration,” she said. “It is time for black leaders to stand up for blacks.”

A June poll by NumbersUSA, a group which want to shrink immigration, reported that only 15 percent of blacks and 44 percent of Hispanics back the Senate bill’s offer of amnesty to 11 million illegal-immigrants. A July poll conducted for advocates of increased immigration reported that 59 percent of registered Latino voters support a goal of “stopping 90 percent of the undocumented immigration in the future.”

Yet most members of the Congressional Black Caucus have agreed to back the Senate immigration bill.

ACORN’s Lewis mocked the mainstream concerns.

“You had some black folks talk about ‘Those people took my job… [and] I used to be in a big house, but now I ain’t,’” she sneered. Those complaints were “madness,” said Lewis, who works as a political activist with other pro-immigration activists, donors and foundations.

In response, Durant condemned black leaders’ rush for increased immigration, saying “They see political advantage in it for themselves, and they’re selling out the blank community.”

Gutierrez urged African-American and Latino legislators to hide their disagreements from the public.

“We have tough conversations when we lock the room — but we are smart enough to lock the room,” he told the audience. “We keep our arguments to ourselves.”

TAKE ACTION: America’s Job Creators Are About To Be Sucker Punched & You Have Until Wednesday To Comment

A very interesting post from www.redstate.com about Unions being forced upon all workers. This follows this post about the damage that Obamanomics is doing to the United States.  This follows this post about the House GOP's communication problem and this article about  the recent news about ending the ban on offshore drilling which would encourage American energy independence This is a key issue to prevent money from going to hostile countries such as Iran  and Venezuela. TAKE ACTION: America’s Job Creators Are About To Be Sucker Punched & You Have Until Wednesday To Comment

Posted by LaborUnionReport (Profile)

You need to act before Wednesday. At a time when the Obama Administration is clamoring to save or create jobs, his Department of Labor is about to sucker punch America’s job creators with an unprecedented regulatory overreach—all to curry more favor with union bosses.

On Wednesday, the public comment period will be closing on a Department of Labor proposal that the majority of America knows nothing about and even fewer understand.

If enacted as drafted, the union cronies within the Department of Labor will require every private-sector employer and service provider (whether or not they ever talk directly to employees) to file financial statements with the Obama Labor Department if the service provider’s services indirectly affect employees’ choice to unionize or not.

Unless you act by commenting here, this rule change will likely take affect. [See link to and sample comment below.]

Once the financial information—which includes the service provider’s entire company (or firm’s) receipts (even from other clients)—are submitted, it will become public information. It will then be published on the Department of Labor’s website and available to union bosses. What’s more, willful failure to file the financial information is a criminal violation, punishable by either imprisonment, a fine, or both.

In June, when the Department of Labor, at the behest of union bosses, issued a 160-page proposal to expand the interpretation of “advice” under a little-known law called the Labor-Management Reporting & Disclosure Act, few understood just how deeply the DOL’s proposed rule change could affect employers and consultants of all stripes–not just those involved in labor relations. Most still don’t understand it.

In addition to companies who hire attorneys to assist them with union issues, the Department of Labor’s broad expansion into areas that most would not consider remotely connected to unions, but because it could indirectly affect [read deter] employees’ choice to unionize, the Department of Labor will likely call this “persuader activity.”

Here are the types of vendors (and the employers that hire them or purchase goods from them) who will likely be caught up in the DOL’s new proposed rules:

•Writers (or authors) who may write a website, publication, sell a book, or other material that may promote a positive employee relations culture, thereby dissuading employees from unionizing

•Website designers who may be contracted to design and build a website to be used for internal communications with employees

•Consultants who coach management on how to structure and effectively manage employee teams

•Employee engagement consultants who help companies and employees with positive employee relations

•Productivity consultants who design and implement quality, or any other type of teams that may give employees a voice in the success of their companies’ products

•Safety consultants who help establish safety committees that give employees the ability to voice safety concerns to their employer to resolve safety issues

•Human resources consultants that design, write, or implement employee handbooks or policies

•Compensation and benefit consultants who design and administer any type of benefit, pay or incentive plans for companies

•Consultants who conduct surveys to determine employee satisfaction at their jobs

Since the Department of Labor’s phraseology is: “…activities that have as a direct or indirect object to, explicitly or implicitly, influence the decisions of employees with respect to forming, joining or assisting a union, collective bargaining, or any protected concerted activity (such as a strike) in the workplace,” the type of activity that an employer and consultant may be required to report to the Department of Labor is almost endless.

Again, the public comment period closes on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. All comments must be received on or before Wednesday.

If you do not act by submitting a comment, it is likely this rule change will go into effect causing many job creators, instead of focusing on job creation, to spend more time and resources on more paperwork, or risk going to jail. Moreover, it will cause many unsuspecting service providers who currently do not know they will fall into the Department of Labor’s trap to either violate the law, or open their personal, company or firm earnings to the Department of Labor, the public and union bosses.

Below is a sample comment provided, courtesy of the Labor Relations Institute. It is suggested that you download, individualize or personalize it before sending to the Department of Labor, then submit your comments to the Department of Labor here.

http://www.redstate.com/laborunionreport/2011/09/19/take-action-americas-job-creators-are-about-to-be-sucker-punched-you-have-until-wednesday-to-comment/

The choice is yours: You can act by submitting a comment, or you can give union bosses what they want–the ability to target more employers.

Top Immigration-Reduction Democrats (if you're looking for a Democratic incumbent to support, here are some nominations)

A timely post from http://www.numbersusa.com/  about Immigration Enforcement DEMOCRATS. This follows this post about Los Angeles County extending the 287(g) program. This follows this post about the border with Mexico and the Falcon Lake murder and this post which shows that there are 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso. Top Immigration-Reduction Democrats (if you're looking for a Democratic incumbent to support, here are some nominations)

By Roy Beck, Sunday, October 17, 2010, 8:09 PM EDT - posted on NumbersUSA

We know that most of our NumbersUSA members are dedicated either to the Republican or Democratic Party because of a wide array of issues and ideologies that are dear to you.

Today, I'm writing for those of you who are wondering where you can make contributions to congressional Democratic incumbents nationwide who have been the most reliable in resisting immigration increases and in working for reductions.

Here are the 18 Democrats who have earned a Grade-B or better for both their Career and for This Congress.

DEMOCRATS WITH Grade 'A+' OVER THEIR CAREER

(Grades in parentheses below are the incumbent's This Congress grade for only actions in 2009-2010.)

MISSISSIPPI

•Rep. Gene Taylor (A-minus)

'A' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

GEORGIA

•Rep. Jim Marshall (B+)

NORTH CAROLINA

•Rep. Heath Shuler (B)

'A-minus' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

GEORGIA

•Rep. John Barrow (B)

'B+' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

MONTANA

•Sen. Jon Tester (B)

'B' GRADE FOR CAREER IMMIGRATION ACTIONS

ALABAMA

•Rep. Bobby Bright (B)

FLORIDA

•Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (B)

IDAHO

•Rep. Walt Minnick (B)

INDIANA

•Rep. Joe Donnelly (B)

•Rep. Brad Ellsworth (B)

LOUISIANA

•Rep. Charles Melancon (B)

MARYLAND

•Rep. Frank Kratovil (B)

NORTH CAROLINA

•Rep. Larry Kissell (B)

•Rep. Mike McIntyre (B+)

OREGON

•Rep. Peter DeFazio (B)

PENNSYLVANIA

•Rep. Jason Altmire (B)

•Rep. Patrick J. Murphy (B)

VIRGINIA

•Rep. Glenn Nye (B)

Those 18 have consistently had a good-to-excellent record of supporting less immigration, both over their entire career and during the most recent Congress (2009-2010).

For some of these, their Career and This Congress cover the same amount of time because they were just elected in 2008.

For honorable mention, I would also note Rep. Rick Boucher of Virginia whose Career grade is "B-minus" but who was the Democrat with the best record in This Congress, earning an "A."

BUCKING DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP

Generally, I consider a "B" grade to be a luke-warm sort of record. It certainly doesn't show much leadership.

On the other hand, a "B" grade does show some real independence and even courage when earned by a Democrat.

Why? Because the Democratic Party's leadership is so aggressively in favor of high immigration, high importation of foreign workers and high U.S. population growth. Consider that both the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi earned "F-minus" grades for their total support for more foreign workers during This Congress (2009-2010).

Unfortunately, the majority of Democrats in This Congress were pulled substantially into Reid's and Pelosi's open-borders orbit.

But the Democratic incumbents listed above bucked their Party's leadership and their Party peers in order to take generally good immigration stands that favor unemployed Americans and environmental sustainability through lower immigration levels.

LISTING OF GRADES FOR ALL DEMOCRATS

You can look at the full list of all current congressional Democrats, sorted by the Career grades at:

http://www.numbersusa.com/content/my/tools/grades/list/0/CONGRESS/US/D/Grade/Active#tabset-3

If you want to re-sort that list by alphabetical order of last names (so you can more easily find a specific Member of Congress), look at the "Sort By" box in the upper right of the page. You'll see "Grade" listed. Click on the drop-down box and click "Name" to see all the Members in alpha order.

For the grades in This Congress alone, go to:

http://www.numbersusa.com/content/my/tools/grades/list/0/CONGRESS/US/D/Grade/Active#tabset-1

If you are committed to supporting only Democratic candidates, I recommend the Members of Congress listed above.

If you want to see what kind of immigration promises are being made by their Republican challengers, check out the Candidate Comparison pages here:

Union Members: Tell Congress to Help Unemployed Americans Find Jobs

A timely post from www.NumbersUSA.com about American jobs being threatened by importing more workers. This follows this post about current candidates and this post about the MURDER of ROBERT KRENTZ, who the protestors and boycotters won't give a solution for, but will call Americans racist for trying to prevent another MURDER, and this post which shows that there are 30,000 openly illegal immigrants in the border town of El Paso. For more interesting stories like this click here to follow this blog.

Union Members: Tell Congress to Help Unemployed Americans Find Jobs
You can find this fax by proceeding to
http://www.numbersusa.com/faxes?ID=12438

On Labor Day, the leader of the AFL-CIO said, "We're looking for leaders who will call out corporations that ship our good jobs overseas...." However, he forgot to mention that the AFL-CIO, as well as most other American labor unions, urge Congress to allow more foreign workers to enter the United States and encourage pro-amnesty Members of Congress to force an amnesty for illegal workers through Congress.

Please send a fax to Members of Congress from your state with a D+ or worse immigration-reduction grade and urge them to look out for the interests of union members rather than the interests of union leaders.

Click here to read Roy's blog on the subject. Be sure to take part in the discussion at the bottom of the blog.

Poll - Biz leaders & Union members oppose amnesty

A timely article from http://www.numbersusa.com/ about faxes to send to your House and Senate members to remind them what the majority mainstream opinion from both business and union members is, which follows this about the sea change in American politics since the Massachusetts election. For more interesting stories like this click here to follow this blog.

New Zogby poll shows most business leaders & union members agree with us on immigration

Before I tell you about the incredibly helpful results from the poll, I want to ask you to send a fax to Pres. Obama protesting his new plan to cut the Border Patrol.
That's right. After saying in the State of the Union speech last week that he was committed to securing our borders, he has now submitted a budget that not only doesn't increase the agents on the border but slashes 180 of the current Border Patrol positions. DEAR FRIENDS, Zogby has uncovered some really incredible news about the nation's business owners and executives . . . . They oppose amnesty and more foreign labor importation by just about as big a margin as the rest of us! I need you to please send a bunch of faxes to your elected officials immediately to make sure they understand that all the business lobbyists in their offices don't speak for most business people.
ACT: Click here to send faxes to your REPUBLICAN Members of Congress.
ACT: Click here to send faxes to your DEMOCRATIC Members of Congress.
ACT: And use our exciting new state legislature faxing system to send faxes to your Members of the State Senate and House.
Believe me, every one of these federal and state office-holders has felt the pressure of business lobbyists telling them that more and more foreign workers are necessary to keep business humming -- and that they should take it easy on illegal aliens because they are also needed by business. It is most important that you tell all of them that this new poll finds that only a small percentage of business owners and executives agree with the lobbyists.
TOP BUSINESS OFFICIALS AGREE WITH US Given the choice between neutrally worded options, this is how top executives of businesses answered about the best way to deal with the 12 million illegal aliens in the country:
59% said to increase enforcement at the workplace and elsewhere to cause the illegal aliens to go home over time.
30% agreed with business lobbyists that the best solution is to legalize the illegal workers and put them on a path to citizenship. These are the people who are the president, the vice president, CEO, COO, CPO, CFO and Treasurer of corporations! They agree with us that the illegal aliens should be pushed from their jobs so that millions of unemployed Americans can have them. Who knew? For 30 years, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other national lobbying organizations have made a lot of Americans hate business because they have been the primary reason annual immigration numbers have quadrupled and illegal immigration has grown out of control. How nice to find out that most business executives are far more patriotic, commuity minded and concerned about the effect of immigration on regular working Americans.
SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS AGREE WITH US EVEN MORE Their answer to the choice was:
67% said to increase enforcement at the workplace and elsewhere to cause the illegal aliens to go home over time.
22% agreed with business lobbyists that the best solution is to legalize the illegal workers and put them on a path to citizenship. The one national business group that has stood with Americans and represented its own constituents has been the NFIB (National Association of Independent Business). Unlike most other business lobbying groups, the NFIB will only lobby if an overwhelming majority of its members agree. For years, it has polled its members on immigration and found pretty much what Zogy just found. Because of that, NFIB has never lobbied for amnesty or more foreign workers. And it has been an endorser of Rep. Heath Shuler's (D-N.C.) SAVE Act to force all businesses to use E-Verify to keep illegal aliens from getting jobs. The Zogby poll, though, shows that all Chambers of Commerce (local, state and national) should be working with us to pass SAVE and to reduce overall immigration -- if they are representing the majority of their members.
UNION HOUSEHOLDS THINK LIKE BUSINESS EXECUTIVES ON IMMIGRATION -- THEY WANT LESS OF IT Starting a decade ago, national union leaders stopped protecting American workers from the wage depression and job loss of high immigration and began lobbying for amnesties alongside the Chamber of Commerce. But we have always known that American union households have not agreed with the switch. Zogby found that likely voters in union households gave this response to the choice about what to do with 12 million illegal aliens:
58% said to increase enforcement at the workplace and elsewhere to cause the illegal aliens to go home over time (compared to 59% for business executives).
28% agreed with business lobbyists that the best solution is to legalize the illegal workers and put them on a path to citizenship (compared to 30% for business executives).By the way, the poll of ALL likely voters in America found them favoring enforcement over amnesty by 61% to 26%. Friends, the business and union lobbyists have incredible influence as they walk the halls of your state Capitol and of the U.S. Capitol here in Washington. It is up to you to help your elected officials understand that those lobbyists don't have troops behind them . . . but you do.

Labor Day Comments

A comment from http://www.vdare.com/ about Labor Day!

Message On Labor Day: Working America Needs An Immigration Moratorium
In 1995, when there were a lot fewer immigrants in the United States, and there was a boom rather than a financial crisis, Peter Brimelow in Alien Nation suggested an immigration moratorium to allow America to finish assimilating its recent immigrants. A moratorium proposal also featured in his 1992 NR cover story Time to Rethink Immigration? (NR’s Ramesh Ponnuru subsequently announced the magazine’s abandonment of this not-Beltway-friendly position after Buckley’s purge of immigration patriots).
Moratorium” means a pause in some activity, usually debt repayment. An immigration moratorium—no net immigration—would mean a pause in almost all kinds of immigration, which would have the advantage that it wouldn't require Americans to argue about which kinds of immigrants are best. Preferring one group of immigrants over another will always be considered racist by someone.
I suspect the average man on the street would say that the US needs fewer Mexicans and Guatemalans, and more Swedish girls in bikinis.

(I did a post once about the difficulty of keeping out the New Swedish Bikini Team, who were "trained in hang-gliding, jet-ski wave jumping and skydiving, and scubadiving.")

It's possible that even Mexicans and Guatemalans on the American street would be in favor of that, since blondes who walk by Hispanics in the street report a lot of unwelcome attention.
But that's the kind of thing that starts fights. I don't expect Hispanics to admit that the US already has too many Mexicans, or the Black Caucus to agree that the US does not need any more African immigrants. What I'm talking about, in the middle of this huge financial crisis, is the "citizenist" position that the US doesn't need any more immigrants PERIOD. It's already got more than it needs, and they're costing it money every day.
This is not a new idea. In fact, something like it was official government policy from 1924 to 1965, when LBJ revised the Immigration Act. That was a very successful period in American history, something that David Frum points out in his book on the 70s, with suitable acknowledgements to Alien Nation. In those days, Americans did jobs Americans "won't do."
Now immigrants have jobs Americans "used to have" and American are short of jobs and prospects. What's amazing is that, according to Google News as Labor Day Eve, no one has proposed an immigration moratorium. (No one but us at VDARE.com, that is.)
We don't even know if jobs in the federal "stimulus" budget, (WPA 2) will be reserved for Americans.
You would think that the AFL-CIO, (what's left of it) would be interested in preserving American jobs. But they aren't.
Recently, the number of Americans who think that unions "mostly hurt" the US economy jumped from "39% in 2006 to 51% last month," according to Mickey Kaus. Union support for mass immigration is not the only reason for that, of course. But it's part of it.
So why isn't anyone proposing it? Partly because it doesn't even cross their minds that it's possible. John Podhoretz, [Email him] (the new editor of Commentary Magazine) threw a tantrum in National Review's corner blog in 2007, when Mark Krikorian suggested that immigration was incompatible with a modern society. JPod wrote
"So why didn't you immigration restrictionists just say so in the first place, instead of hiding behind the word "illegal"? Why didn't you then acknowledge your problem wasn't with law-breaking at all but rather with the fact that any people are coming in? Could it be that you knew then it was an extremist view that only had support on the fringe, but that there would be real strength behind using the illegality of illegal immigration to rally people to your cause? And that now, with real movement in your direction ideologically, you now feel freer to advocate openly what you have always hinted at but have never quite said so blatantly?"
Apparently Podhoretz the Younger (and distinctly the Lesser) totally missed the immigration debate of the 90s, and couldn't figure out that Alien Nation wasn't called Illegal Alien Nation. The problem with an alien nation isn't that it's illegal, it's that it's alien.
But even if you didn't care about that—and I suspect Obama doesn't—on pure economic grounds, Obama should be calling for, and Congress should be voting for, an immediate halt to all immigration.
The fact that no one but us is saying that is a sign that America's intellectuals have failed to deal with the immigration problem—probably because it involves race, and in modern day America, that means intellectual paralysis.
Have a Happy Labor Day—if you still have a job.
