Did Jesus Christ Foretell Devastating Storms?

An interesting article from http://www.ucg.org/ about prophetic hurricanes. This follows this post about the Day of Atonement. For a free magazine subscription or to get the books recommended for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886- 8632.

In Matthew 24:7-8, Jesus Christ foretold signs that would mark the time leading up to His return: “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places …”
We have certainly seen devastating earthquakes in recent years. The December 2004 earthquake off Indonesia was the most powerful in decades, unleashing a massive tsunami that took some 300,000 lives. Less than a year later, an earthquake in southern Asia killed another 30,000.
In Matthew 24:7, the Greek word translated “earthquakes” is seismos, from which we derive such English words as “seismology,” referring to the study of earthquakes. Strong’s Lexicon defines it as “a commotion, i.e. (of the air) a gale, (of the ground) an earthquake—earthquake, tempest” (Strong’s No. 4578).
So seismos has a broader meaning than just the earth shaking. Matthew 8 records how a violent storm overtook Jesus and His disciples on the Sea of Galilee, threatening to capsize their boat and drown them—until Jesus miraculously calmed the winds and waves.
The word used in Matthew 8:24 for this powerful storm is seismos , here translated “tempest.” So we see that seismos can also refer to violent storms and isn’t limited strictly to earthquakes. When Jesus foretold “famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places,” His words encompass natural disasters that include earthquakes, but can also apply to hurricanes, tornadoes and other such deadly storms.
As we saw with Hurricane Katrina, these storms can be enormously destructive. Katrina took more than 1,200 lives and caused an estimated $200 billion in damage, not counting the economic hit from losses to shipping, oil and gas production, fishing and agriculture. New Orleans, devastated by the storm, will not fully recover for decades— if ever.
A hurricane like Katrina, which reached category 5 strength before weakening, can produce winds greater than 155 miles an hour and push ahead of it a wall of water 18 feet or higher, doing major damage to virtually anything in its path.
Are such natural disasters increasing as Jesus foretold?
The Sept. 16, 2005, issue of Science magazine reports on research by scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. They concluded that while the total number of hurricanes and cyclones had not increased, there has been “a sharp increase during the past 35 years in the number of category 4 and 5 tropical cyclones, the most intense storms that cause most of the damage on landfall” (Richard Kerr, “Is Katrina a Harbinger of Still More Powerful Hurricanes?,” p. 1807).
Specifically, the frequency of the most dangerous and damaging storms—those rated category 4 and 5— increased by 80 percent from the 1970s to the latest decade.
This should certainly make us sit up and take notice. Later in Jesus Christ’s same prophecy, as recorded in Luke 21:25-28, He says: “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth …
“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Speaker Paul Ryan Refuses to Fund Planned Parenthood in Zika Bill “That’s Something We Won’t Do”

An interesting story from www.lifenews.com about the use of Zika to fund Planned Parenthood. This follows  this post about Zika pregnancies. This follows this post about Hillary Clinton's abortion stance. For two very interesting books click HERE.
Please follow me here.

Speaker Paul Ryan refused to give in to pro-abortion Democrats’ demands for more Planned Parenthood funding in the Zika aid bill on Thursday.

Democrats have been blocking critical aid bills to combat the virus for months because they do not fund a few Planned Parenthood facilities in Puerto Rico. On Wednesday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Democrats would continue to block legislation unless the abortion giant gets more taxpayer dollars.
Abortion has become a major issue related to the Zika virus because of a possible link to birth defects. New research suggests the virus may not be to blame for the uptick in birth defects in some areas affected by the virus. Still, abortion advocates have been using the virus as an excuse to push for more abortions of babies with disabilities. Some pro-abortion groups even have been scaring women into aborting their unborn babies without knowing if they have Zika or if their unborn baby has a disability.

Ryan refused to give in to the pro-abortion Democrats’ demands on Thursday and called out their deceptive tactics.
“First of all, there’s no Planned Parenthood [provision] in this bill, and to put an earmark for Planned Parenthood is something that we won’t do,” Ryan said, according to The Hill.
The report explains: “The GOP’s language specifically says the grants can only be used by ‘health services provided by public health departments, hospitals, or reimbursed through public health plans.’ That would mean Planned Parenthood’s two clinics in Puerto Rico — where the virus has infected thousands — aren’t eligible.”
Fact checkers, legislators, news outlets and others are calling out pro-abortion Democrats for making false claims about the funding bills. Even the liberal fact-checking website Politifact debunked Democrats’ claims that Planned Parenthood funding is necessary to aid the fight against Zika.
Earlier this summer, U.S. Sen. John Thune, R-South Dakota, also called out the Democrats for blocking the measure because of pro-abortion politics.
“The exact same amount that Democrats unanimously supported six weeks ago and now Democrats don’t want to support it,” Thune said before Senate Democrats succeeded in blocking a funding bill at the end of June.
“A handful of Planned Parenthood clinics in Puerto Rico,” Thune continued. “Seriously. This is what this is about?”
The Hill previously pointed out how the pro-abortion Democrats are contradicting themselves on the issue: “… the stance puts Democrats in the position of now opposing a Zika funding bill after months of telling Republicans funding was needed right away.”
Democrats are blocking the funding as Zika becomes an increasing concern in Florida and other southern states. Currently, the Centers for Disease Control reports at least 624 pregnant women have been infected with Zika in the U.S. Five of their unborn babies died in miscarriages or abortions, while 16 other babies were born with birth defects in the U.S., the CDC reports.
A funding bill would provide money for vaccine development, mosquito control and other prevention, and health and treatment services for people who contract the virus. The funding would go to researchers, community health centers, hospitals state health departments and Medicaid.
Planned Parenthood has been clear about its plan for Zika. In April, a Planned Parenthood spokesperson said pregnant women who have Zika ought to be able to abort their babies because of the possible risk of birth defects. The abortion activists called killing such babies a “human right.”
Right now, Planned Parenthood is sending staffers to knock on women’s doors in Miami, Florida to talk about the virus, according to the Miami Herald. They also are giving pregnant women “Zika kits” and informational fliers that, whether directly or indirectly, promote abortion.

Current Events & Trends Zika virus—the latest health scare

An interesting article from http://www.ucg.org/ about Zika. This follows this post about Australia’s neighbors. For a free magazine subscription or to get the books recommended for free click HERE! or call 1-888-886- 8632.

MP3 Audio (5.79 MB)
“As many as four million people could be infected by the end of the year” (Donald McNeil Jr., Catherine Saint Louis and Nicholas St. Fleur, “Short Answers to Hard Questions About Zika Virus,” The New York Times, Feb. 3, 2016).
Meanwhile, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that its Emergency Operations Center had been activated to Level 1, meaning its staff will be working around the clock in emergency conditions.
Discovered in the Zika forest of Uganda in 1947, the virus is common in Africa and Asia. It didn’t begin spreading in the Western Hemisphere until May 2015, with an outbreak occurring in Brazil. It’s had a notable impact throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. As of this writing, only a few cases have been reported in the United States and now Europe.
For most, the infection causes no symptoms and does no lasting harm. However, “concern is focused on women who become infected while pregnant and those who develop a temporary form of paralysis after exposure to the Zika virus” (ibid.).
In October 2015, doctors in northern Brazil noted a surge in babies with microcephaly—a birth defect of abnormally small heads and underdeveloped brains. There can be various causes for this problem, including other infections such as German measles (or rubella) and cytomegalovirus. A causal link to the Zika virus in the recent cases is not certain, but there is significant evidence of a direct connection (Katie Worth, “New Link Between Zika Virus and Microcephaly Is Found in Brazil,” PBS.org, Feb. 4, 2016). Many nations in South America are advising citizens to hold off on pregnancy until as late as 2018.
There’s a recent case in Dallas, Texas, of the virus being transmitted sexually from someone who’d recently returned from Venezuela, but this is considered to be a very rare occurrence—with only two documented cases linking the virus to sex before this, in 2008 and 2013.
What prompted the outbreak this past year is unknown. One speculation is that it may have been a traveler from Africa or Asia to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. But it could have been anyone—wrong place, wrong time.
It’s assumed that the United States might have outbreaks in the southeastern part of the country, but that the chance of it being major is low—“because most people in the US hang out indoors in the air conditioning, install window screens, use bug repellent, and keep their yards free of standing water” (Beth Skwarecki, “Your Non-Alarmist Guide to the Zika Virus,” Lifehacker.com, Feb. 2, 2016).
Certainly this virus is a serious problem. But it may prove no worse than many other health issues the world is dealing with. Yet it should be remembered that Jesus warned of increasing disease epidemics before His return (Matthew 24:3-8). Any major outbreaks should serve as a wakeup call to that reality.
In any case, for this and any other health crisis, we should be seeking the true Healer. In Him alone is true security and well-being. (Sources: The New York Times, Yahoo News, PBS.org, Lifehacker.com.)

Warning all national ALIPAC Activists!

Today we need everyone in every state focused on an emergency situation in Florida where the illegal aliens and their supporters are advancing a bill to grant in-state tuition for illegal immigrants with the backing of turncoat Republicans working with a majority of Democrats again!

ALIPAC had led the charge in the states and has defeated bills like this in 20 states, but two years ago we had to drop our state level activism due to severe budget restraints imposed by our supporters. Since then, illegal aliens have racked up win after win in the states, gaining licenses and in-state tuition in more than 10 new states!

Even though we have a long list of candidates waiting on our help and numerous other battles to fight, today we must intercede in Florida in the hopes of breaking the momentum of the advancing army of illegal aliens in our 3rd most populous American state! We cannot let the illegals win in Florida as that would tip the entire nation to their cause. We cannot let Florida follow California into the abyss.

Surprising good news out of New York State where local activists on our side and Republican lawmakers stopped the state level Dream Act Amnesty legislation!

NOW IF WE CONVINCE THOUSANDS OF YOU TO DEDICATE 30 Minutes of VOLUNTEER ACTIVISM TO THIS EMAIL WE CAN WIN IN FLORIDA TOO AND PERHAPS TURN THE TIDE IN FAVOR OF AMERICANS ONCE AGAIN IN THE STATES!

Read this then take action!

FL - Anti-Illegal Immigration Group: Don't Let Illegal Immigrants Pay In-State College Tuitionhttp://www.alipac.us/content/fl-anti...e-tuitio-2741/

Step 1:
Call Florida Governor Rick Scott and tell him how disappointed you are over his support for in-state tuition taxpayer benefits for illegal aliens, especially after he had promised everyone he would crack down on illegal immigration when he was campaigning. Remember to use your own version of ALIPAC's sample message.

CONTACT NUMBER FOR GOVERNOR SCOTT - (850) 488-7146

"I'm calling to tell Governor Scott how disappointed and angry I am at his support for taxpayer benefits like in-state tuition for illegal aliens. He promised to crack down on illegal immigration and now he is helping illegal immigrants and encouraging more illegal immigration through his unfortunate support for HB 851! Florida taxpayers should not be forced to pay more in taxes to replace American students with illegal immigrants in the limited seats in our full capacity colleges! Tell Governor Scott to stop helping illegal aliens and stop HB 851 now!"

Step 2:
Then access the contact list for the Florida State House (Yes even if you do not live in Florida, Americans in Florida need your help today)

Contact List for Florida State House
http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Representatives/representatives.aspx

Dedicate yourself to calling and then writing as many Florida State Representatives as possible in random order. Please use your distinctive version of ALIPAC's strategic message that has defeated in-state tuition for illegals in more than 20 states. Remember to call, call, call, then write as calls are your most effective persuasion tool. Leave voice messages where no human answers.

"I'm calling to ask Representative _______ to oppose the in-state tuition for illegal aliens bill HB 851. In-state tuition for illegal immigrants will encourage more illegal immigration into Florida and America while forcing Florida taxpayers to pay taxpayer benefits to illegal aliens to replace their own students in Universities that already turn thousands of Americans and legal immigrants away each year! HB 851 will harm American students and taxpayers while encouraging more illegal immigration."

We need a full national mobilization to the aid of Americans in Florida today and our friends at FLIMEN (Floridians for Immigration Enforcement) fighting to stop the illegal alien advance by stopping HB 851.

Call today and each day and do the best you can until you hear word from us letting you know if the illegal alien invasion supporters or Americans like us have won in the critical battleground state of Florida!

Let's roll, Americans!
