PAKISTAN – ‘The sadness was almost unbearable’
Please continue to pray for the Christian community in Lahore, Pakistan, as it struggles to come to terms with the loss of family members killed in the Easter bomb attack.
Yesterday a contact, who is in Lahore with our partner helping to comfort the bereaved and the injured, attended the funeral of Chand, a young man who died from injuries he suffered in the bombing.
He said: ‘I was looking out for Chand’s father and somehow I managed to see him among the people. As he came over, we both hugged each other. The love of God was pouring into our hearts, as we held and comforted each other.’
He added: ‘I could see the pain and anguish in God’s people. It was heart-breaking to see and I couldn’t imagine how they were feeling. I saw one man who was weeping so much you could see the pain in his face. He was so broken. I haven’t seen that kind of pain for a long time.’
In the midst of so much pain, so many tears and so many people crushed with almost unbearable sadness, he went on to say: ‘As they were preparing the burial place I noticed Chand’s uncle who had also lost his son, Sagar, in the bomb blast. I could see he was crying over the coffin. I just went over to him, put my arm around him and in the silence loved and let him cry.’
Please pray for the Christian community in Lahore at this time of immense sadness, and also for our partner and others who are providing comfort and support for the hurting.

A total of 44 people are reported to have been killed in yesterday’s attack on villages in Gashaka, Taraba state, Nigeria. Three people are in a critical condition in hospital and 146 have been displaced. Please continue to pray for the bereaved and injured.
